It was a half hour away in order to get a table at Hopdoddy. We had a three week old baby with us, traffic was terrible and we were hungry. A burger that's all we asked.
Searched for a local restaurant and found cover three was only two minutes away. Four stars on yelp. Menu said they had burgers. Called ahead, asked if there was a wait and was told there was none. Awesome!
Arrived to a nearly empty restaurant. It was a weeknight around 7 PM. As we had a brand new baby with us we ask for a booth. Hostess scheduled and told her she'd like seat us at a table with an "would that be OK". Without waiting for an answer, we were dropped off at a 4 top right in front of a working door to the outside patio.
We waited for a holder for the car seat (a sling of sorts, it arrived about five minutes later.) At which time we stood at our table holding the car seat. While standing, our waiter said "can I get you something to drink?" Still standing, we indicated that we were waiting for a holder for the car seat. He again asked "what can I get you to drink?"
So we ordered ice tea, it arrived without incident. We ordered a hamburger and a prime rib sandwich with a side of au jus and we paid additional for Caesar salad (rather than fries).
When the food arrived, the prime ribs sandwich was very over done, very fatty and grizzly. (Yes I know) prime rib is fatty, and I love it. However the sandwich was sliced prime rib that had been reheated to an overdone state. Half of the meat was inedible. The Caesar salad dressing was flavored solely by an acid, no cheese no salt no garlic no I anchovy. Didn't taste like Caesar salad. The waiter brought additional dressing. Did not help same taste. Asked for oil and vinegar. For this there was an up charge, otherwise I wouldn't mention it. The jus was simply disgusting. It was some sort of thin gravy with a thick float of foam/oil. Did not look like anything I had ever seen. Didn't bother to even taste it. It did not look safe to eat.
The baby needed to be changed. As the grandmother I went off to use the ladies room and check if it was clean enough to change the baby. It was clean. However there was no changing station. I encountered a server just outside the ladies room and asked if there was a changing station in the building. I was told no. I pressed as to where I could change the baby. I was directed to a second floor bar/dining room. I headed upstairs to take a look. The entire floor was dark, with no lights. I wasn't going to send my daughter an infant grandson upstairs.
I returned to the table and ask for the check. The waiter asked how everything was. I said "honestly, not that great. In fact, may I see the manager?"
The manager arrived to the wrong table, the one next to ours, and asked how everything was going. I waved him over to our table. And explained everything, from the top. His response was, "I wish you had told me earlier said it was something I could do about it". He defended the jus, Ignored the information on the sandwiches. Told me he would open a banquet room to change the baby had I mentioned it, And never said sorry. I explained, I didn't want anything for free or take it off. Just wanted to let him know of these issues. As I walked out the door, I mentioned to my daughter, that I would be writing a review because that was the only satisfaction I was ever going to get.
