I love that Covenant Coffee is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and employing current and former foster youth. With every purchase you are giving a youth a chance at a new future. Covenant Coffee has a cool vibe and atmosphere inside the shop, despite being located within a large commercial office building. Coffee was good and service was extremely friendly. I only drink black coffee, but they offered many flavored/sweet drinks as well. They have a small menu of savory breakfast items which I really appreciate. Stopped here on our drive up north. Located in an office building it's easy to miss. I ordered a regular drip coffee with almond milk and it was decent. My sister was visiting Bakersfield and she wanted to go to a local coffee shop. I guess I'm really out of the loop because we pulled up and I didn't realize it was now Covenant Coffee. We went in and were greeted immediately. We checked out the holiday menu. I asked the two employees what their favorite drink was at the moment. They both answered, "the cinnamon roll." We both ordered it. We checked out the good looking pastries, but just ordered the coffee. The cinnamon roll was really good. Great flavor. I enjoyed it...until the last sip. That sip had all the spices that had sunk to the bottom and I had a coughing fit! Got some water and recovered. I wasn't expecting that at all! Just a warning. The shop is cute. My best friend and I met up for breakfast at Cloud 9 by Covenant Coffee today. This is her favorite spot to order matcha lattes and I can totally see why! The matcha latte was rich in flavor and its taste wasn't outshined by sugar. Bestie recommends subbing in oat milk and adding sweet cream if you prefer it on the sweeter side though. We both ordered avocado toast and it was very yummy! It was toasted sourdough topped with avocado, marinated artichokes, olives, red onions, cheese, a hefty amount of arugula and balsamic glaze. I walked in on a calm Tuesday and the shop was not very crowded. I ordered a seasonal vanilla lavender latte and a blueberry lemon scone. The baristas had my order out quickly and I sat and enjoyed the beautiful interior of the coffee shop. The latte was not overwhelmingly sweet which I appreciate and the scone was very sweet which I also appreciate lol. For me coffee should be less sweet and pastries very sweet and that's the combo i had. Covenant coffee is still making delicious seasonal drinks and offering yummy food. The cafe is located in the lower level of the...I think it's the Wells Fargo Bank. I honestly don't know the name of the building, but if you are searching for Cloud 9 and you find yourself in what feels like a random parking lot you might just be in the right place. My youngest son thought for sure we were lost, but he has one determined Mom espressolly when it comes to finding coffee shops. After parking you'll have to walk through a beautiful lobby and question whether you were appropriately dressed. It's a stunning lobby. Walking through Cloud 9's door is exhilarating. You can't help but feel happy when you enter. The baristas are very friendly. The ceilings are high and accentuates the natural light which floods the cafe. The decor is calming and peaceful. The seating is plentiful and inviting making it a perfect place to chat with friends or work on a project. And they serve Covenant Coffee beans which happens to be a pretty fabulous bean! Located on the lobby level of an office building, Cloud 9 has adorable decor and a minimalist chic space to gather or work. The interior is beautiful and there are many cozy and clean spots to sit. You can also browse their selection of goods (think: rifle paper company and holiday goods). Unfortunately, I ordered the matcha latte and it was not good. The matcha latte was extremely chalky and watery tasting. I would not return for it. You may be better off if you choose a coffee option instead! read more

I used to work in Shafter and Covenant supplied Tin Cup Coffee's beans, and it's no wonder I loved Tin Cup as well! I also highly recommend attending their fundraiser dinners which are a high quality dining experience. When you bless this store with your business, the coffee blesses you back! My drink of choice is a hot honey latte with oatmilk and cinnamon, or a blended version of the drink. I do notice the reply from the owner, but the other previous owner used Rosa's milk not great value brand from Walmart. They would make their syrup in house I know because I spoke with her and the prices were also lower. I also just prefer the old coffee that the original owner used Since the last time I've gone, I will not go back and I definitely let people around me. Know that it has changed and I don't recommend this place anymore. First things first..... there are no signs. Nothing. GPS takes you to a business park. On Instagram they have a ridiculous "how to find us video" that literally speeds through nondescript concrete buildings and doesn't show a single landmark or building signage. I was already considering leaving and finding a new place to try. Sigh... I was already here and looking forward to the Pistachio special. I tried the Lemon Blueberry scone while I waited for my drink. It was awful, like sour it into a napkin awful. Super dry and tasted like salt and baking soda. Granted they don't make them but when I went to the counter to let them know. The barista was incredibly rude and said "Well, it is a scone". Yes thank you that's why I ordered it. She asked me what I wanted her to do about it.... On to the coffee. I ordered the Sun Kissed Pistachio Iced Latte with cold foam. It tasted like overpowering Lavender. No Pistachio flavor whatsoever. The cold foam "melted" and was non existent. I'm normally a fan of sweet but it was nauseating. They asked me to try the Brown and White Pistachio latte. It was a little better. Received my money back for the scone, paid for and drank a couple sips of the coffee before I just had to toss it or risk feeling ill. Ever since the change in ownership, the quality and flavor of their lattes have changed dramatically. For example, I went in this week excited they were keeping the tradition live to hold Harry Potter week. I got an iced butterbeer latte and all I tasted was bold coffee. Compared to previous years the flavor is there, but I got nothing. It had no sprinkles or cold foam like last year, it tasted like an ordinary latte. I was very disappointed. Everytime I come here it's over a 10minute wait. If you are in a rush to go to work DO NOT come in the am. On top of that the coffee is inconsistent and for $7? You'd hope for the best. The beans were coming from an open jar and placed by hand (using a spoon) into the porta filter, this is what causes the inconsistency or watery pull of the espresso making my vanilla latte taste awful. I was thrown off by the location since it's a business center but once inside I felt like I was in a coffee haven where it was easy and desirable to hang out much longer than I needed to. First off, this place was kinda hard to find hahah the gps took me to a giant building and I was sorta confused on why it took me to an office building but thankfully people have uploaded pictures of the building entrance that lead to the cloud 9 shop. I was kinda discouraged to get coffee because of how difficult it was to find the place because I was expected it to be its own place. After seeing the pictures online, I parked and walked inside and was able to find the place!! The place is super cute and the staff were very kind. Not yet having my must have morning coffee, I had to try this roastery in Bakersfield since it's a good halfway point to stop off for food and gas. After driving around the Wells Fargo building, I finally spotted the small business sign hanging with the words Cloud 9. (If I were in an episode of Amazing Race, I'd probably lose my mind trying to find this place). It's literally tucked inside the building on the ground floor which is not so apparent from the parking lot. Ok, made it inside and it's actually quite busy for mid morning. Two baristas (one doubles as cashier) kept orders flowing. I opted out of one of their tantalizing lattes due to my projected wait time and just got a regular coffee with half and half. First sip not bad (if you've read my other reviews, I've come across sour tasting coffee roasts). I'm glad I did t ask for a shot of espresso as the flavor tastes pretty bold as is. Will have to stop in again to try your caramel/salted or mint lattes now that I know where you're at Cloud 9! read more

First time visit - what a cute spot! A bit difficult to find at first, it's inside the Wells Fargo building on the northwest side (I found someone else looking for this spot when I walked into the building). I got a pumpkin spice latte with oat milk. The baked goods looked great- the only vegan option was an orange cranberry scone, not my flavor profile of choice so no baked goods for me this time. Free wifi made it a great place to work from! I used the area in the back as a stand-up desk while I had to take work calls. Luckily it's not loud inside so this worked out well. I will also say that the wifi wouldn't connect on my laptop so I had to hotspot through my wifi connected phone ‍ All in all a very nice coffeeshop - I'll certainly return again! Sadly the days of the best coffee in town are done! The brown and white is no longer what it once was. In my recent visit the taste has really changed -it was very bitter, I tossed the entire thing after two sips and definitely not worth the price. Additionally- In my recent visit they informed me they changed their system from whatever Cloud9 used. I had a gift card that had about $40-50 left on it from Cloud 9, they told me I can get a drink today and they would take my card from me as they no longer supported them and we could not use them again. Pretty sad to not have some sort system in place to know the balance on these cards to give people what was theirs! read more

The ambiance is very chill! I worked on homework till closing and I wasn't disturbed. The Customer service is respectful and catering to your needs. The seasonal pumpkin muffin wasn't the best but the crumble was very delicious. I recommend having it warmed up. They do offer that as well. I'm not a coffee drinker, I am a tea lover! So I fully intended on just eating the muffin, but the lovely associate recommended the plum honey tea and it's very nice for people who love tea that's not overly sweet so it was perfect for me As customers started coming in it's a lovely place to sit and chat!
