I ordered a pistachio latte, per the cashier's recommendation and it did not disappoint. It truly tasted of real pistachio (unlike Starbucks' very fake tasting pistachio latte). I will definitely drive across town to have this latte and have some of their other drinks and food items. The atmosphere is casual with a giant (approximately 100") TV for watching sports. The restroom was dirty, and I loathe dirty restrooms, that's the primary reason for 4 stars. Overall, I recommend them and will return, just not with a full bladder.
I really liked this place. It was my first time visiting, and I had heard that their pistachio latte was really good. I'm not a big pistachio person myself, so I ordered a caramel macchiato instead. After trying a sip of my friend's pistachio latte, I was pleasantly surprised--it was actually quite good. That said, I absolutely loved my caramel macchiato. It was flavorful, creamy, and exactly how I like my coffee. The cafe itself is neat, well-decorated, and very clean, making it a nice spot to relax and enjoy a drink. The service was friendly as well. Overall, I had a great first experience and would definitely come back.
Where do I even begin? I have become obsessed with Mokhamena. I am at either location at least once a week. I didn't even really drink coffee, but Mokhamena changed everything for me. Just as the ports of Yemen brought coffee to the world, this Yemeni coffee shop has brought coffee into my life. And let me just say, it is tough to try other coffee spots, as they have trouble stacking up to the high bar Mokhamena has set. I am all about their Saudi coffee. I can't get enough. It's super tasty and always gets me ready to take on the day in stride. This location recently launched a bagel menu, and they're all very good! The falafel bagel is the stand out and my personal favorite. Mokhamena is actually the first women-owned Yemeni cafe in the entire US! This is their second location, and both locations are right here in Bakersfield. I also love this location for working remotely. It is super spacious, the tables are large, and their whole back wall is lined with outlets for easy charging. My favorite is when I can grab a 32 oz large pot of Saudi coffee with a candle underneath, and sit for a couple hours working and sipping away.
I went in and ordered this today. Oh wow so good. The word Refresher is exactly what it is. Great flavor very suttle flavors, lightly sweet. I was very satisfied with this choice on a hot day. So if youve not gone in to try some of the tasty food or grab a good coffee which Ive had before or get a Refresher like I did this time this is a great place. Everyone is super friendly its a relaxed atmosphere. Always clean and there is nice seating inside or out. Help support this local business.
We came back to try a berry matcha. It was a little too sweet for me, although my wife loved it. I saw a promotion for their happy hour and it sounds like a great deal.
We had a wonderful experience at Mokhamena- the inside is beautiful, the food displays are well lit, clean and stylish. The music in the background is really nice & there are bits of history paying homage and respect to Yemen. We have never had an opportunity to experience Yemeni fare and we're excited. So excited, we tried just about everything edible. Staff were friendly, helped with descriptions and pronunciation- and offered suggestions on which drink to try. We tried the Adeni Tea, Mufawaar and Turkish coffee. The Adeni tea is subtle and light. The Mufawaar coffee, is also subtle but flavorful, in a nice way. The spices are not overwhelming. The Turkish coffee is, as expected, strong- served with a whole date and we understood why. Even though it's strong, it's delicious. For the food- Ma'amoul cookie was nice. A thick shortbread cookie a date paste filling that wasn't overpowering. We were able to meet the owner, who was very welcoming and chatted with us. She gave us a slice of cheese Kunafa, that I have been eager to try. She said she just got the machine in that ensures it's perfect, every time. Probably the most delicious bite of the day. It tasted like a sweet, slightly crunchy cornbread full of melted mozzarella. I actually did a happy jig in my seat. Thank you for offering this experience, cheese Kunafa, and conversation. I hope you continue to thrive. I will post another review about the entirety of the purchases and that experience.
Had a good experience at Mokhamena! Everything I had was delightful. I had one of their seasonal lattes (snickerdoodle), ma'amoul which is a crumbly cookie filled with a light chewy date filling, and the manakeesh which was like a savory bread. Their pastries were light and tasty and the latte was not overly sweet. Everything was conveniently priced and service was efficient as well. The space itself is spacious whether you come to do some work (they have WiFi) or if you come with a few friends for some tea/ coffee and pastries.
What an absolute gem! This Yemeni coffee shop is beautiful, spacious, and has both indoor and outdoor seating, which makes it such a relaxing place to enjoy your coffee. The pastries are incredible -- the Dubai chocolate muffins, croissants, baklava, butter cookies, and more are all fresh and delicious. The menu is extensive with so many drink options and an impressive variety of syrups to choose from. On top of that, the staff was incredibly friendly and informative, which made the experience even better. I feel so lucky to have tried this place since it's pretty far from where we live. If it were closer, I'd be here all the time. Truly a 5/5 experience -- highly recommend!
First time here and it's super cute inside. The girl who helped us today was really friendly and helped us pick out drinks. Everything came up quickly. The caramel macchiato was spot on, not too sweet not too strong but still had a good coffee flavor. Their espresso beans are really good! The pistachio matcha latte was good but not amazing, it had a decent flavor but it was too sweet for my liking, I would order it half sweet next time. Overall good experience & will be back to try more menu items. Also they have a bunch of flavors for their drinks! They have all their syrup flavors listed on the counter!
First time trying this place and had to get a variety of goodies! My boyfriend got an iced pistachio latte and he absolutely loved it! We then got an order of baklava, cheese danish, and bitifour! The kind cashier gifted us a ma'amoul and everything was delicious! Sadly didn't get a picture of the cheese danish and the baklava but will be coming back so next time!
Mokhamena is an amazing cafe with great drinks & sweet treats. The employees are always friendly & welcoming, happy to answer any questions about the menu or make a recommendation. I absolutely love getting their matcha; they really know how to make matcha. I would say it is some of the best matcha in town! Their baklava is also super delicious. I frequently see people studying or just hanging out in the space. There is also always good music playing, which I appreciate. The place is decorated in a cute & aesthetic way, but my only complaint is the bright fluorescent lights, which throw everything off in my opinion. In the daytime, it does not matter too much because of all the natural sunlight that enters through the windows, but at night, I think they are too bright. Overall, I think Mokhamena is top tier! Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Overall: 9/10
I really like this place. Every time I want to hit star bucks I come here instead. The drinks are top notch. The snacks are great. The service is really good too. And the vibe is unmatched. I probably will come by tomorrow because the drinks are just that good! My personal favorite is the pistachio late hot but maybe I'll try it cold. Either way I'm home to enjoy my drink, service, and snack.
Great coffee. Saturday they were slammed and it took a while to get my coffee. Outside cute little patio with 6- 4 top tables. Inside is noisy with lots of solid surfaces. Watching the bar where they were filling ordes had multiple people, I believe if they had 2 with someone directing it would speed up the orders. They have the Dubai chocolate strawberries in a cup for $15.

Whoever is on the aux... heck yeah! The vibes are so chill here at Mokhamena. I love an iced latte with some slow jams. I came to Mokhamena because had my heart set on tasting their pistachio latte. Wow. No notes. It did not disappoint. It's very flavorful and the pistachio flavor is lovely. Not too sweet either. The service was great and super quick since there weren't many people at this time. Aside from yummy drinks, this is also a really great study spot. I have final exams coming up and I love that I can be caffeinated and get some work done here. The booths have outlets and the wifi is posted for easy access. read more

This is a delightful Yemen Cafe. The staff a is so friendly and helpful. They are great at explaining what they're serving. They serve delicious teas, coffees and pastries. Everything they serve is freshly made, delicious and beautiful. Baklava is crunchy & gooey. They also do scrumptious Dubai chocolate! The beverages are so exquisite. It's a great location to host business meetings or to study or work in a peaceful environment. There are outlets for your tech and a TV. They have lovely Patio seating as well. Come by to experience their exotic coffees, teas & pastries, they won't disappoint and will probably become a regular place to come. read more

This is MY NEW FAVORITE COFFEE SPOT. Hands down, simply the best. My go to is the manakeesh, a date latte (special drink for Ramadan) & Dubai chocolate. Holy cow!! The date latte is full of powerful flavor & the froth is perfect. I can drink it way too fast. The manakeesh is my newest obsession. Perfectly thin, smooth white cheese & the herbs are wonderful. So much flavor. About this Dubai chocolate: I've never once in my life tried it. These were $5 & not too big so I was skeptical to try it. But when I did, oh my goodness. I can't believe what I've been missing this whole time! $5 for this chocolate is a STEAL! The workers are friendly. The environment is gorgeous. I love the art, the decor & the green seats. It's light, airy & ALWAYS busy!! It's that good, y'all. One thing I do not care for (but it will not affect negatively on my review) is credit card payments. Your subtotal they tell you after you order is only if you pay cash. If you pay card, it is automatically more because of credit card charges but they do not say that. It will also reflect an even higher amount on the screen because it automatically adds 20% gratuity to your credit card charge. So it goes from one price, to another, to another. I always tip but if it's not a restaurant, it will typically be 10%. Be aware of the charges when you go. Mokhamena has found its newest most loyal customer here. I'm addicted. read more
One of the greatest things about being a Yelp member is, I always go back to places over and over again. I tried the Pink Splash and the Matcha Lavender drink. These two drinks were very refreshing. I just love the vibe of this cafe. The music has a great vibe and the staff are friendly. I recommend this spot to everyone. read more

Super friendly staff! This place is so cute for a catch up or even to work from. There's lots of drinks and food options on their menu and loved the other drinks. I got a pistachio matcha latte and it was a bit sweeter than I wanted. I did ask for reduced sweetness but still was a bit too sweet. read more
I love middle eastern coffee and pastries so I decided to give this place a try. This location is in a strip mall so parking is free and generous. The business was very clean and organized. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. I wanted a hot coffee and inquired about the Saudi Coffee but the cashier discouraged me from ordering it. He told me that I probably wouldn't like it...go figure. So against my better judgement, I settled on the iced pistachio latte. I asked if it was super sweet and I was told that it wasn't...a lie lol; it was way to sweet for my liking and only drank about 1/4 of it and tossed it. I also ordered a couple of baked goods. The Honeycomb bread was okay but would not order again. It was a standard white bread, stuffed (very lightly) with cream cheese and served warm with a syrup. The Ma'amoul, a date filled shortbread was delicious and would order again. The Kunafa, shredded phyllo dough, nuts and syrup was okay. I expected it to be crispy and it wasn't. I wouldn't order this again. There are other baked goods, maybe I just have to find one that "wow's" me. The ambiance was relaxed. I probably wouldn't visit this business again unless someone makes a good menu recommendation. read more
My wife wanted a coffee from here because she enjoyed Mokha Cafe. But the coffee here tasted burnt and when she got to the bottom of it there was 1/2" of sludgy grounds in the cup. When I sipped it unfortunately some of those grounds got me. Going to have to skip here next time. read more

Love this place! One of the better pistachio and matcha latte's I've had in town. I've had the teas plenty in other visits as well and there hasn't been anything here not worth trying. They work fast and have cool cultural gimmicks that I've seen from other patrons. I'm glad they're getting more success after Mokha cafe. The decor describing their story and their Yemeni origin is very insightful. Bakersfield is growing with more culture! read more

It is beautiful inside and plenty of seating as well. It is located near the Winco shopping area and near the donut shop so there is plenty of parking. I enjoyed their pistachio iced latte and they offer non-dairy alternatives (oatmilk and almond milk) for an extra .50 cents. The staff was friendly and service was excellent with my coffees ready within a short period of time. They have a case of pastries and everything looked delicious so I will have to come back again. This is a beautiful place to grab a coffee with a friend or group. They do have Wi-Fi available as well. read more

Mokhamena first timer My daughter likes this place so I was happy to accept her invitation. I love to support local business, especially cafes and coffee houses! A nice little cozy spot tucked into a busy shopping center. Typical chill and relaxed cafe vibes offering a nice patio with outdoor seating. I wasn't at all familiar with their different coffees and drinks but I'm totally open to trying new things. Initially I asked for the Turkish coffee but the employee that was helping us must've noticed that we were newcomers and unfamiliar with their drinks, so he politely let us know that "just a heads, the Turkish coffee will be very bitter but that's just the way it's served". I appreciated the heads up and asked if there was something specific that he would recommend, and he suggested the Mufawar (his favorite) Unfortunately shortly after sitting down he informed us that he didn't have the ingredients to make the Mufawar so instead he recommended the Adeni. Love the cups. The Adeni has a nice and creamy texture but the flavor was unlike anything I had ever tested. It didn't taste bad, but it just had kind of a strange flavor. And while it was difficult to drink at first, I got used to it. At some point I will be back to try the Mufawar. Cute spot. read more
So my mom and I went to the café to experience this for the first time. It is such a cute and delightful space. Located on the southern side of Bakersfield near with Winco. It's a great opportunity just to have a quick bite to eat in a cup of coffee, we ordered ourselves a baklava and another Yemen pastry. Both were delicious the baklava. I wish I had a little more honey, but it still was very tasty. The coffee was amazing. It was very rich and dark. I do like my coffee suite so I had to add a couple more Splenda's but overall the flavor of cardamom and spices really just that really well with me. It was quite delicious. The gentleman that was serving us was really nice and polite. The atmosphere is great. The vibe the music it is quite a place to go as I'm sitting here. I see so many people coming in and out, which is good because they're supporting our local businesses. Not gonna lie I wish I was able to get a sick kebab or something more hearty meat wise, but hopefully in the future, they'll be able to expand their menu. The food was delicious and it smelt great. They also have a nice outdoor patio seating area, which is great for those summer days even while I was inside there was a lady who was on a conference call and there's so many different individuals just sitting around enjoying. We met some great people and really had a good time as we were at the space. I definitely look forward to another opportunity coming back. read more

They helped me find my perfect coffee and perfect tea! The new bagel menu is all good, I got them all to see which one is my favorite and I couldn't decide honestly. The outdoor seating is great for some fresh air in the morning, and inside is great for studying and getting some work done. Super clean, organized, chill, and friendly place to just have a cup of coffee and sweet treat with some friends! Will definitely come back often! read more

Beautiful third space in the SW offering Yemeni coffee to the surrounding area. Comfortable seating, indoors and outdoors. ADA Accessible from the front + longer ramp on the left side, rear parking lot. First timers, I recommend: drinks - adeni chai for several people, comes in a beautiful glass pot and small glass cups - iced pistachio latte - iced strawberry matcha - going bananas smoothie for my zero caf people food - honeycomb bread with pistachio drizzle - baklawa - pistachio cheesecake - dubai strawberries Kind staff, they go above and beyond to ensure a good experience and to make things right. Opening week-- it may get lively after 6ish. read more

First time here, and it did not disappoint. The hostess taking our order was friendly and offered suggestions since it was our first visit. I ordered a caramel hazelnut latte, my husband chose a pistachio latte, and we also got some pastries. Everything was delicious, with the caramel hazelnut latte being my favorite. Mokhamena cafe is a wonderful cafe. The ambiance is great. I came here to study for my finals on more than one occasion and got a ton done each time. I really like their hours and I'm just happy for more cafe third spaces that people can come and hang out and get a sweet treat to eat. I'm also very happy to have somewhere to represent Yemeni culture I think it was a place that is appreciated and needed in our community. The staff have also been very nice and manager is always sweet. read more
