Mokhamena is an amazing cafe with great drinks & sweet treats. The employees are always friendly & welcoming, happy to answer any questions about the menu or make a recommendation. I absolutely love getting their matcha; they really know how to make matcha. I would say it is some of the best matcha in town! Their baklava is also super delicious. I frequently see people studying or just hanging out in the space. There is also always good music playing, which I appreciate. The place is decorated in a cute & aesthetic way, but my only complaint is the bright fluorescent lights, which throw everything off in my opinion. In the daytime, it does not matter too much because of all the natural sunlight that enters through the windows, but at night, I think they are too bright. Overall, I think Mokhamena is top tier! First time here and it's super cute inside. The girl who helped us today was really friendly and helped us pick out drinks. Everything came up quickly. The caramel macchiato was spot on, not too sweet not too strong but still had a good coffee flavor. Their espresso beans are really good! The pistachio matcha latte was good but not amazing, it had a decent flavor but it was too sweet for my liking, I would order it half sweet next time. This is MY NEW FAVORITE COFFEE SPOT. Hands down, simply the best. My go to is the manakeesh, a date latte (special drink for Ramadan) & Dubai chocolate. Holy cow!! The date latte is full of powerful flavor & the froth is perfect. I can drink it way too fast. The manakeesh is my newest obsession. Perfectly thin, smooth white cheese & the herbs are wonderful. So much flavor. About this Dubai chocolate: I've never once in my life tried it. These were $5 & not too big so I was skeptical to try it. But when I did, oh my goodness. I can't believe what I've been missing this whole time! $5 for this chocolate is a STEAL! The workers are friendly. The environment is gorgeous. I love the art, the decor & the green seats. It's light, airy & ALWAYS busy!! It's that good, y'all. One thing I do not care for (but it will not affect negatively on my review) is credit card payments. Your subtotal they tell you after you order is only if you pay cash. If you pay card, it is automatically more because of credit card charges but they do not say that. It will also reflect an even higher amount on the screen because it automatically adds 20% gratuity to your credit card charge. So it goes from one price, to another, to another. We had a wonderful experience at Mokhamena- the inside is beautiful, the food displays are well lit, clean and stylish. The music in the background is really nice & there are bits of history paying homage and respect to Yemen. We have never had an opportunity to experience Yemeni fare and we're excited. So excited, we tried just about everything edible. Staff were friendly, helped with descriptions and pronunciation- and offered suggestions on which drink to try. We tried the Adeni Tea, Mufawaar and Turkish coffee. The Adeni tea is subtle and light. The Mufawaar coffee, is also subtle but flavorful, in a nice way. The spices are not overwhelming. The Turkish coffee is, as expected, strong- served with a whole date and we understood why. Even though it's strong, it's delicious. For the food- Ma'amoul cookie was nice. A thick shortbread cookie a date paste filling that wasn't overpowering. We were able to meet the owner, who was very welcoming and chatted with us. She gave us a slice of cheese Kunafa, that I have been eager to try. She said she just got the machine in that ensures it's perfect, every time. Probably the most delicious bite of the day. It tasted like a sweet, slightly crunchy cornbread full of melted mozzarella. I actually did a happy jig in my seat. Thank you for offering this experience, cheese Kunafa, and conversation. Had a good experience at Mokhamena! Everything I had was delightful. I had one of their seasonal lattes (snickerdoodle), ma'amoul which is a crumbly cookie filled with a light chewy date filling, and the manakeesh which was like a savory bread. Their pastries were light and tasty and the latte was not overly sweet. Everything was conveniently priced and service was efficient as well. What an absolute gem! This Yemeni coffee shop is beautiful, spacious, and has both indoor and outdoor seating, which makes it such a relaxing place to enjoy your coffee. The pastries are incredible -- the Dubai chocolate muffins, croissants, baklava, butter cookies, and more are all fresh and delicious. The menu is extensive with so many drink options and an impressive variety of syrups to choose from. Watching the bar where they were filling ordes had multiple people, I believe if they had 2 with someone directing it would speed up the orders. I had the chance to visit Mokhamena twice! I had a great first impression of the cafe. I love how big this cafe is and the parking isn't so crowded like the other location. There's free wifi, so I noticed that there's lots of people studying here. There's plenty of seats for group study sessions or just hanging out with friends. The service was outstanding and the cashier was so helpful when I couldn't decide which matcha flavor I should get. She let me sample the cream tops so I could choose between the pistachio and strawberry. During my first visit, I had the pistachio matcha. The flavor was sweet, but I really don't know how else to describe the pistachio flavor. It wasn't exactly nutty, but it was good! I also ordered the manakeesh. It's a great savory small bite, but I think I still prefer to go to Blue Fig Farms for these. My second visit wasn't as great as the first time. I ordered the strawberry matcha. It tasted great! The only issue was that it took so long for my friends and I to receive our orders. I thought that they must've forgotten our order or something. This doesn't deter me from coming back to sit in store, but I'd be a little nervous about ordering to-go. read more

I love middle eastern coffee and pastries so I decided to give this place a try. This location is in a strip mall so parking is free and generous. The business was very clean and organized. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. I wanted a hot coffee and inquired about the Saudi Coffee but the cashier discouraged me from ordering it. He told me that I probably wouldn't like it...go figure. So against my better judgement, I settled on the iced pistachio latte. I asked if it was super sweet and I was told that it wasn't...a lie lol; it was way to sweet for my liking and only drank about 1/4 of it and tossed it. I also ordered a couple of baked goods. The Honeycomb bread was okay but would not order again. It was a standard white bread, stuffed (very lightly) with cream cheese and served warm with a syrup. The Ma'amoul, a date filled shortbread was delicious and would order again. The Kunafa, shredded phyllo dough, nuts and syrup was okay. I expected it to be crispy and it wasn't. I wouldn't order this again. There are other baked goods, maybe I just have to find one that "wow's" me. The ambiance was relaxed. My wife wanted a coffee from here because she enjoyed Mokha Cafe. But the coffee here tasted burnt and when she got to the bottom of it there was 1/2" of sludgy grounds in the cup. When I sipped it unfortunately some of those grounds got me. Going to have to skip here next time. read more

Mokhamena first timer ‍ My daughter likes this place so I was happy to accept her invitation. I love to support local business, especially cafes and coffee houses! A nice little cozy spot tucked into a busy shopping center. Typical chill and relaxed cafe vibes offering a nice patio with outdoor seating. I wasn't at all familiar with their different coffees and drinks but I'm totally open to trying new things. Initially I asked for the Turkish coffee but the employee that was helping us must've noticed that we were newcomers and unfamiliar with their drinks, so he politely let us know that "just a heads, the Turkish coffee will be very bitter but that's just the way it's served". I appreciated the heads up and asked if there was something specific that he would recommend, and he suggested the Mufawar (his favorite) Unfortunately shortly after sitting down he informed us that he didn't have the ingredients to make the Mufawar so instead he recommended the Adeni. Love the cups. The Adeni has a nice and creamy texture but the flavor was unlike anything I had ever tested. It didn't taste bad, but it just had kind of a strange flavor. And while it was difficult to drink at first, I got used to it. At some point I will be back to try the Mufawar. Cute spot. read more

So my mom and I went to the café to experience this for the first time. It is such a cute and delightful space. Located on the southern side of Bakersfield near with Winco. It's a great opportunity just to have a quick bite to eat in a cup of coffee, we ordered ourselves a baklava and another Yemen pastry. Both were delicious the baklava. I wish I had a little more honey, but it still was very tasty. The coffee was amazing. It was very rich and dark. I do like my coffee suite so I had to add a couple more Splenda's but overall the flavor of cardamom and spices really just that really well with me. It was quite delicious. The gentleman that was serving us was really nice and polite. The atmosphere is great. The vibe the music it is quite a place to go as I'm sitting here. I see so many people coming in and out, which is good because they're supporting our local businesses. Not gonna lie I wish I was able to get a sick kebab or something more hearty meat wise, but hopefully in the future, they'll be able to expand their menu. The food was delicious and it smelt great. They also have a nice outdoor patio seating area, which is great for those summer days even while I was inside there was a lady who was on a conference call and there's so many different individuals just sitting around enjoying. What a gem in the southwest. They took over the deli delicious spot in the Winco center on Panama & Ashe and it's a wonderful addition! Love the decor, definitely a cute place to hang out alone or with friends. I had the Albani tea and it was delicious, a nice black tea with spices and condensed milk.
