This is my wife's favorite lunch spot for years. I have been to their locations in Bako and SLO. It is once of the nicest sandwich shops I have been to. Clean, great service. My wife always order the salad like she is in Starbucks, with a ton of customization. She said it is the best salad in town. She would give this place 6 stars if it is up to her. We met the owner of this place at a fund raiser, and my wife acted like she just met Elvis. Any way, I got dragged there for lunch by you know who. They have Chicago pastrami on the menu. What? I lived in Chicago for 25 years, let me be the judge. It is on a beautiful dark wheat bun. A heaping helping of pastrami, juicy on the inside, nicely charred on the edges. What make it Chicago style? I created a Yelp account just to leave this review about how pleasantly surprised I am with Sequoia going above and beyond for their customers. I placed an order through a delivery service and my driver accidentally gave me someone else's order. I called the restaurant to let them know (I didn't want someone to miss their lunch!) and they assured me that they'd remake the other customer's order, and THEN they offered to have someone immediately drive out to me personally to hand-deliver my order (note: I'm not too far from the restaurant). This review isn't for the food (which I've never had a complaint about) but for the service. I ordered my meal via DoorDash. I got the Greek salad w/ chicken that originally comes with Lemon Olive Oil. When ordering, I made sure to make note that to sub the lemon olive oil with the Greek dressing. Usually, I have no issue with the substitution so I placed my order and once a dasher was assigned, I asked if she could double check. When the dasher arrived and asked if the lemon olive oil was subbed with the Greek, the cashier (listed as Valerie but I am not sure if that's who the dasher dealt with) proceeded to tell the dasher that they were the same thing. The dasher informed me of this and I asked if I could still get the Greek dressing. My dasher asked again and apparently the employee proceeded to pull out the recipes for the dressings to show the similarities. Yes, both do contain lemon, but the lemon olive oil is more potent in the lemon flavor while the Greek dressing is not. I do not understand why the employee made it so difficult for my dasher, but I felt very bad for my dasher that she was given attitude over something so simple as salad dressing. My son and i were out shopping and we couldn't come to a decision on where to have lunch so i said hmmm we haven't been to sequoia in a while let's do that. He also go the chicken pot pie soup which i took a lil taste and it reminded me of my pot pie i make at home just a mouthful of comfort. I was really craving a yummy salad so i got the Cali chicken salad with ranch. Oh yea one of the best salads i've had in a long time fresh crispy veg tender grilled chicken, creamy blue cheese and homemade ranch completely my thing and totally satisfying!! Very pleased with my Turkey Pesto Panini today. Craving a really good sandwich on my 8 hr road trip home, got gas, went on Yelp! I'm not from around here, so I had never heard of Sequoia. So glad I searched them out. And I literally did "search" for this location. It's not easy to find. It's in a corner of what seems to be business offices. I'm thinking maybe their offices are there as well as this shop. I had my dog with me and couldn't leave him in the car, so called and asked if I could tie him up on their nice shaded patio while I came in, ordered, paid, and used the restroom. As far as the sandwich goes, which is all I ordered, it was delicious! I swapped out the focaccia for ciabatta,, and would ask for easy pesto next time, but believe me, there will be a next time when going thru Bakersfield.
