Since I have a good monitoring company and a completely hard wired system, new cameras, and a doorbell answering system is what I wanted. Ryan brought everything he needed along with a new transformer to make sure the Ring camera was properly powered since I opted for the model that ties into the doorbell wiring. Ryan was patient and made sure everything was adjusted to my liking. When it came to the Ring installation he used a level to make sure everything was straight. Ryan is friendly, fast and efficient. He really knows his stuff and provides some of the best customer service and communication compared to many others I had done business with. After the job was done, Ryan cleaned up everything. Ryan and Covalt helped me wire and set up PoE security cameras for our house. I believe that Covalt would normally do a more comprehensive job (selecting and buying the cameras, PoE switch, etc) and help with post-installation configuration. I prefer tinkering with that kind of thing myself, so I bought the hardware and had Covalt do the ethernet runs and mount the cameras. Ryan was comfortable planning for this, but warned me that Covalt wouldn't be responsible for the quality of the cameras, etc... which makes perfect sense. They were quite responsive and the team installed my cameras within a couple weeks of first contact. Ryan was quite careful in understanding exactly where I wanted the cameras, and provided opinions on placement where it counted: avoiding excess wire runs on the exterior of the house and having reasonable visual coverage. There were a couple hiccups, both of which were my fault. I'd asked Covalt to use my existing ethernet cables for part of the run, which were too thick for the crimping equipment they had. Someone came back the next day to splice in a compatible cable and finish the crimping job. I also had Covalt do a separate ethernet run in the house so I could wire up my server, and they used a different style of termination than I would have expected (ie not terminated at the wall). Ryan himself came back the next day and switched it at no charge. The process end-to-end went pretty much how I might have hoped, but it's the follow-through that made this a great experience. read more

This started with an estimate for my own home. I was looking for ethernet throughout, but when I saw the cameras that Covalt had, I asked for a bid for those as well. When my father's safety at his home was compromised, I put my cameras on the backburner and had Covalt install his cameras there. The definition - even in SD was amazing - and in full color. At night, the cameras had LED lights that lit up the areas of the camera so we had full night vision as well. Better still, we had a new recorder that could keep as many as two weeks' recordings from all cameras, fully accessible from my cell phone and computer/laptop. My mother and father were safe. I will have my camera's installed next week, but have also ordered them for both of our commercial buildings. Oddly, based on Covalt's positive reviews & a positive referral from a friend, I did not walk away with a similar experience. Ryan & team never did any work for me. The scheduling portion was hit & miss, we even locked in a date two weeks out. That however is the last time I heard from Covalt. I'm uncertain exactly what happened, but know that if I were referred, I'd follow up, communicate consistently and decline professionally if I was unable to fulfill the request. I inquired with Covalt about installing a Ring Doorbell Pro, and he replied very quickly and even called to get a better sense of the problem.... at 8:45 AT NIGHT!! The problem ended up being simpler than I thought since it wouldn't need a transformer upgrade (once I located the REAL transformer location), so I later opted to do the install myself since much simpler. Ryan from Covalt Communications came out to my house and provided a recommendation and bid to replace a very old closed circuit security system I had installed about 10 years ago. He provided various options and clearly described the trade offs. His pricing was competitive (I compared the hardware costs online and on Amazon) and it was clear he knew what he was doing. The install took a few hours and he helped me setup the digital video recorder so it was fully online using my existing wifi. Ryan came out and replaced my existing dome security cameras and added a new security at a new location per my request. He was very professional, knowledgeable and nice. On top of that, he responded to my email questions almost immediately. It's one thing to be professional, but it's another thing to be responsive to clients' questions. On the day of the installation, he came out as promised on-time even though his helper couldn't make it due to family emergency. Ryan and his helper came at 6:30pm on a Monday and installed 3 large TVs over about 3 hours. Included fishing wires for one of them. The big one (75") was an exact fit right over the fireplace in the living room,had to be perfect. They took the time and extreme care to get it centered and done safely. I recently wrote a review for Ryan at Covalt Communications At first when I wrote the review I thought he was great. When job was completed he ran it on my Am/Ex for the final billing. When he first came he ran $1,352.00 deposit. He can only legally charge me 10% of total amount. The total amount was $2982.60. He never showed me how to work it or did I have instructions. I had NOTHING! I tried calling him for a week with no response. He was out of town. I continued calling leaving voice mails. No customer support. I finally got real tired & disputed the amount he charged to my credit card. I received a full credit then he disputes it. My Son took down his equipment as he wouldn't. He would not accept it back. I have filed many reports on him. He is a scammer. Don't trust him. He will appear differently till he gets your money. I will also file a elder abuse report plus CSLB, BBB. Actually found Ryan through a recommendation on NextDoor. Quick and super responsive. Received a call back within 30 minutes with very affordable pricing after leaving a voicemail after hours. We communicated over text the next few days and Ryan came out last night to relocate a TV and wall mount upstairs to my master bedroom and replace existing TV and wall mount over the downstairs fireplace. I wanted a clean look upstairs with no wires showing showing so Ryan brought along an electrician to install 4 electrical outlets behind the TV. I was able to mount my cable box and Apple TV to the back of the TV and plug them along with the TV to the new outlet behind TV (see photo). I was very happy with all the work done. Ryan is very professional and respectful: 1) wore shoe booties in the house as requested 2) put down plastic in his work area 3) and thoroughly cleaned up.
