I love this place. Nothing fancy, just regular people, comfort foods, very friendly staff and very good food at reasonable prices.

This cafe is just what you'd expect for a small town home cooked food cafe. The menu is very large with lots of options. My family likes the food. We usually call our order in to go.... We'd like to eat there however we don't because my biggest complaint is their high chairs. They either need new ones or they need to get someone with a screw driver to tighten them up. They're just too scary to put a baby in and they honestly could also use a good cleaning... we've been given a sticky chair twice! Yuck! This place can get very very crowded too... which makes it tight seating...Some waitresses are good about not carrying a heavy tray of hot food over a baby's head and some clearly have no idea that they should NEVER do that! I'm docking a star for those reasons. The portions are generous. The extensive pie menu is awesome if you like dessert. There's something everyone in your family will like here. read more

The Dining Divas went to lunch today at The Countryside Cafe There were 13 of us and we were seated immediately. The food was fabulous, especially the trout and meatloaf. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The servers there work very closely together. They help each other out wherever they are needed. They share all the tables, so if you need anything any one of them will get it for you. We can not praise this restaurant enough. Wednesday is buy one slice of pie and get one free. It is no wonder they have been voted the best of the best for the last 5 years. We rated Countryside Cafe a 5 out of 5. Well now, you say that you love country food, you say that you love fresh food, you say that you love home cooked flavor... And you haven't been here yet?!?!?! Now I know you have all of this at home but when you step off your porch and go somewhere else, you ain't had nothing but imitations on your plate anywhere else... These folks put some love on that plate, love for country cooking, love for filling portions, love for the taste of home... I had the meatloaf, thick, with all the fixings, I had the gravy on side until I tasted it, it was on the meat loaf immediately, fried okra, cooked just right, full of flavor of okra not grease, watermelon fresh, and some cantaloupe cubes that tasted like I just cut myself. Great family owned restaurant which has been in business for more than 25 years... Or more! All the servers take care of all tables... If you need anything just ask the next server walking by your table. Great country food.... Just like grandma used to make! Full menu with daily specials written on the board! This has to be without a doubt the best cafe this side of the Mississippi, or maybe this side of the Grand canyon,. We were camping at the Harrison Bay State Park and we just love riding around out in the country. It was getting toward lunch time and ran across the Countryside Cafe. There was a bunch of cars and work trucks around the place so we figured it had to be pretty good, and we were wrong, it was outstanding!!!!! I found this place on Yelp and have been back a few times. Great food, "home-style" service (expect the servers to treat you like a member of the family) and what is best... they have different specials everyday. Large white boards tell you what the specials are the day you visit. New Potatoes, Macaroni and Cheese, and Okra are my favorites so far. The rolls are very good as well. Good home cooked food with a great country feel. Lots of different options of for everyone's different tastes. I have always loved the pies they. My favorite is the chocolate pie. This is a pretty nice place. With all of the meat-and-threes in our immediate area falling to sub-par level, this was refreshing. Didn't have their meats, we just got veggie plates, but everything tasted fresh and the service was good. We had to wait on a Friday night, but only about 10 minutes, which isn't bad at all. The servers were friendly, but the rest of the staff seemed to be in a zombie state... not friendly at all. Other than that, a good experience. I would go back. read more

Just moved to the area and decided to try the Countryside Cafe. I thought they might be open for breakfast (which they are not) and when I drove by one day the lunch crowd had packed the parking lot and the empty lot next door, this had to be a good sign? We went for Friday dinner, which was a mistake - you'll wait about 30 minutes and the backup seems to start just after 5 or 5:30. There isn't much indoor waiting area either. The cafe turns it over quickly, but you'll still wait. I saw a sign that said "most affordable meat and three" or something to that effect, but when our dinner was done (two adults and two children under 5) with one dessert, our bill was $55 before tip?!! That's not affordable in my books - the kids' meals were both over $5 drink not included. I'm not a huge meat and three lover - neither is my wife. The meat I had, pot roast, was cooked well, her ribs a little dry. The sides are extensive any what you would expect in most country diners. I thought their use of local ingredients to the extent possible was also a nice touch. I will probably give this place another shot at lunchtime. The staff was friendly and the owner was working the floor as well, but I don't know if I would do dinner again - especially on a Friday. read more

Very hospital restaurant. The waitresses are very nice and eager to refill your sweet tea, lol. You will be taken care of here. The restaurant can get busy but remains calm and quiet. The food is great. I had a broiled chicken breast with mac n' cheese, mashed potatoes, sweet corn, and corn bread. We left with two delicious coconut pies. :P The food is very reasonably priced. We go there frequently but lately have had some bad experiences with food being missing from takeout orders. Two side dishes were left out on Aug 18, 2021 and a couple of months before that they also forgot two side dishes. Also during COVID with a county mask mandate in effect, we saw their employees working in the kitchen with no masks on. Countryside Cafe is always a favorite place to eat. Their menu is extensive, they have many daily specials, and although I've eaten here a dozen times I've never been disappointed in a dish. Their candied yams/sweet potatoes remind me of my grandmother's cooked slowly in a cast iron skillet with butter and sugar until they're almost caramelized. I usually get vegetables because they are just so good. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's off the beaten path but definitely worth the drive. read more

This place was highly recommended by my coworkers, and I decided to give it a shot. I had fried chicken livers, fried okra, mashed potatoes, spiced apples, corn bread, and coconut cake. The fried livers were not bad, but I liked the ones at Little Diner on 1st more. Fried okra was decent, mashed potatoes, spiced apples, and coconut cake were very good, and the corn bread was a bit disappointing. Overall, I was happy with the meal; I ate for two and paid for one, so not a bad deal in any way. Tonight we came to this wonderful country restaurant with 3 of our grandchildren. Our 15 year old grandson who can each anything pushed away from the table saying he was full. Now he did ordered dessert (apple pie) to take home which he ate within one hour of coming home.I and grandson had a marvelous Chicken Fried Steak, my wife enjoyed her Pork Chop, two granddaughter had hand coated chicken. Been visiting here for over a decade a couple times a year. Food is good service is good. They didn't have a few things on the menu like a their WOG. I miss the old cream house in ooltewah I think this is owned by the same people. Pointers for the owner someone needs a hair net, found a hair in my daughters salad. I had seen reviews of this restaurant many times in News paper inserts and on Yelp and had wanted to try it because everyone raved about their homemade deserts and pies. Now when it comes to Pie, Pie and I have a thing going on and it's not just a spring fling or a summer thang... it's complicated at best... lol I make my own pies during the holidays and grew up going to Pennsylvania Dutch Country where Pies have a food group all of their own. We started our meal with healthy intentions by all 3 of us, my husband, son and myself ordering the Fried Chicken Tender Salads. They were loaded with fresh veggies and grated cheese with a choice of delicious homemade dressings to choose from that were just superb! I tried the ranch and the honey mustard!!! They served hot fresh rolls straight from the oven served with a friendly smile! The chicken was juicy inside and crispy on the outside. My son and I both ordered a piece of Homemade Chocolate Pie that came out in a huge slice topped high with a baked meringue on top. It was sweet, chocolatey and delicious! It fulfilled my Pie Great Expectations in every way! I am looking forward to coming back many times in the future to soak up more of their friendly southern hospitality, try their famous Meat and Pick 3 menu and let's not forget, More PIE!!!
