Oh my goodness! We stopped at the diner because it was recommended to us. We split the Chicken fried steak with fries. We were unimpressed. We were thinking we would get some wonderful home cooking, sadly that was not the case. Positive thoughts, the breading was delicious as well as the small amount of gravy on top. The fries were frozen and fried. We also had a side of Mac and cheese. Absolutely shameful. Elbow noodles overcooked with chez wiz for sauce. We're in the south for goodness sakes!! The restaurant interior is really cute, country themed. We had an adorable young woman serve us. She was very curt with us and saved her smiles apparently for after work. What a great little find on our night here in the town of Ocee, TN, complete with chickens seeming to live in the bushes in front! Rustic, unassuming, cozy with a powerful tasty punch! There's a wide variety of dishes to choose from, I decided to go with the pork bbq sandwich and was not disappointed. Tender, more chopped than pulled, deliciousness! I put a dollop of coleslaw on top cause that's how we do it in VA. I'd been craving, of all weird things, fried okra and this joint served it up just right. We simply couldn't leave without indulging in homemade blackberry cobbler! The BEST!! Lastly, the service was excellent! Hight recommend! I arrived at 9:55 AM. I noticed that there was a stand with a sign advertising eggs for sale. When I asked about that, the staff said that someone not associated with the restaurant sells eggs there. The person wasn't there when I arrived, but I was told that you use a QR code to shop for eggs. The restaurant itself though seems to sell their own jam, shirts, and other little things. Anyway, the bathroom was a single bathroom that was long and a little narrow. The sink is also pretty low to the ground (most likely to accommodate children), and it has paper towels. I ordered the Owner's New Favorite burrito with a side of Hashbrown Casserole, and it took 10 minutes and 40 seconds to receive them. The Hashbrown Casserole is very cheesy, but it was still good. The burrito despite being in a jalapeno cheddar tortilla wasn't spicy at all. I also found it was better to eat with your hands rather than with utensils. Overall, my breakfast was very savory and filling. I did learn upon receiving my check that if you opt to pay with a credit card (forgot to ask about debit cards), there's a 3.5% charge added to your total. Meaning its better to bring cash to this restaurant (which thankfully I had). I didn't notice a sign or anything at the front mentioning this, and if there isn't, I think they really should have one. Last 2 things I'll mention is that there is guest wi-fi here, and if you come to this restaurant on the day of your birthday (and you have ID to prove it's the day of your birthday), you'll get $13 off your meal. The food selections are Southern and original. We had the Dam Burger which contained 1/3 or 1/2 lb hamburger with bacon and pineapple. My side was pickled beets. It was delicious. My husband had the same thing. However, for his side, he choose black eye peas which he stated was delicious. This is definitely our go to place when we are in Ococee. read more

Stopped in on a recommendation from our white water rafting tour guide for fried pie. Being from New York we had never heard of it and had to try. This place was recommended by a conductor on the Hiwassee River Train ride we took. Glad we took his advice. A wonderful selection of food that is reasonably priced, large portion size and tasty too. The service was good even though it was crowded. I had a homemade pimento cheese sandwich, one person had chicken livers and the other a burger with bbq meat on it. There were several sides to choose from. Homemade blackberry cobbler and fried peach pie as desserts. The restaurant is decorated in a beautiful blue with all kinds of things displayed on the walls. Wondered into the Dam Deli for breakfast after rafting the previous day. We were seated after a brief wait as it was pretty busy. The main thing to know. This place cuts off breakfast at 11, no questions asked. I opted for the hand-battered chicken fried chicken and the turnip greens were great. Black eyed peas were decent. The meatloaf and pot roast didn't get much fanfare from our group but the burger looked great! Service was ok, they did display good teamwork for refills and clearing plates as our server took another large party so great awareness to help out. They had some local honey for sale and I guess I missed the pricing as I thought it was $12 but was actually $22, several others bought the honey as well so we left sweeter than we came. This eatery was a disappointment to say the least. When we were seated there was a puddle of something under the table which my feet were soaked in. When it was mentioned to the waitress, it was as if it was an inconvenient that she had to mop it up. We had a large party, which we understand that it takes a little longer for our order to come out. We waited an hour for our food to come out. When it finally came out, it was brought out of a different door than the other patron orders. The food was gross. Most of our party ordered fried food and we all had over cooked food that was clearly cooked in old oil. The chicken livers were overly breaded and so over cooked that they were hard as a brick. The chicken tenders weren't any better. The prices are on the high side. For the money we spent at this diner we could have eaten at a nice steak house. We will not be returning. read more

Took a moment for us to get seated, and although there was a table available for us at once there were not enough menus so we ended up using takeout menus. Initial spotty service was an issue throughout the meal, as it took a moment for our drinks to come through, get refills on our drink, etc, which surprised me as they did not seem that busy. Got the chicken livers and they were good but not the best I've ever had, same with the sweet potato fries and mac and cheese. Sampled some chips from a friends plate and they were really good. Best Dam food you'll find in this little town! I chipped off one star as service can be slow and getting drink refills a bit difficult, but the food is stellar. Try the pimento cheese burger and their broccoli cheese soup. They also have no issues hosting birthday parties and customers bringing their own cake, which we truly appreciate since we had to celebrate a birthday on the road. We were in the area after visiting my son's gravesite, and were hungry. I did a quick search to try to find something fairly close and found the Ocoee Dam Deli. We were greeted quickly and seated. Staff were friendly and accommodating. It's a quaint little place with history of the Dam and the area on the walls. The decor was nice and welcoming, as were the staff. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. We asked him what he'd recommend. I got the Polk Dam Patty Melt with homemade chips and my husband got the Paradise Dam Pastrami Reuben. Both of our sandwiches were absolutely awesome. I would highly recommend the Patty Melt and would absolutely get it again. If you are on a road trip to the dam or the park nearby, I'd highly recommend a stop here. You won't be sorry! read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at Welcome Valley Village in Benton and this cute place was near by. Great little place to get some great comfort food. We started out with the pimento cheese and bacon fries which were rich and delicious. I ordered the catfish wrap which was so tasty! My boyfriend got the chicken salad which he said was delicious. We came here thinking the sandwiches were 7.00 or 8.00. They are appx 12.00 with chips or else only one side. We seen three sides and two sides advertised but there are not three sides at all, and only two sides on the very expensive meals. I remember when we came here the Mac n cheese was not very good. The waitress was nice enough but only when she thought we were eating there. At least she answered most of our questions n not rude like the normal customer service is now. Don't let the name fool you, this place is more than a deli. It's a full service sit down restaurant and also the perfect place to get a real comfort meal after a fun bout of white water rafting on the Ocoee River. A short drive away from the river, I came with a group of friends and we were ravenous. I ordered the country fried steak (which was as big as my hand- see attached photo) and it even came with two additional sides. I got fried okra and Mac&cheese. It was probably the best decision I made all week. It was just the most satisfying meal ever and I left the happiest and fullest customer. After a fun rafting and cabin trip, my friends and I ended our weekend in Ocoee with a Sunday lunch at the Ocoee Dam Deli and Diner. The Ocoee Dam Deli and Diner serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is only served until 11am, though, and we had just missed it. Like everything else in Ocoee it seems, the restaurant resembles a wooden cabin. Inside, there are all sorts of wildlife and outdoors-related decorations and artwork on the walls (e.g. a stag's head). There are also several TVs playing videos of various white water rafting adventures. The restaurant seemed to be fairly busy on our visit so service was slow, both in getting our orders in and in getting our food. The menu consisted of typical Southern cuisine. I opted for one of their "Blue Plate" specials, which is a traditional "meat and two" setup. My meat and two was fried catfish, cornbread dressing, and sweet potato casserole. Overall, the meal was OK. The fried catfish was quite thin and not very meaty. The breading was a little salty. The catfish very closely resembled the same catfish you can get at Piccadilly Cafeteria. Ocoee's version instantly reminded me of Piccadilly's version. Both the cornbread dressing and sweet potato casserole were tasty. The cornbread dressing was delicious, in fact. The sweet potato casserole had melted marshmallows on top. I also tried some of the sweet potato fries, which weren't bad. I'd still choose the casserole over the fries any day of the week. Our server was Brook and she was a nice gal. Great location for those coming out of the mountains or Parksville lake. Right on hwy 64 near Ocoee River bridge. This place has the look and feel for this area and very popular for those living near it. For this trip I had the Dam large BBQ,bacon, pineapple burger and it will go down as one of my Dam favorites. The place has a lot of history on the walls for decor. The fact that this Dam deli is near multiple dams on the Ocoee a River is just icing on the burger.
