Pleasantly Surprised - Great Food & Friendly Service! I wasn't expecting much when we stopped at Country Kitchen in Dodgeville, but they really delivered! Everyone in our group had a special request with their order, and the staff got every detail right. I even overheard the kitchen double-checking one of the requests to make sure it was correct. That kind of care really stood out. The food was excellent: crispy hash browns, big and toasty English muffins, and fluffy, hot pancakes that hit the spot perfectly. It was exactly what we needed. The host and wait staff were attentive and genuinely friendly, which made the experience even better. I'd definitely come back here next time we're passing through town. Passing thru looking for a breakfast restaurant and came across this gem. Breakfast was a good ole fashion country breakfast. Eggs, bacon, hash browns were fixed perfect. Hash browns had a good crispy top, eggs were perfectly cooked over medium as requested and the bacon was the right crispiness. The pancakes were excellent! poor customer service. Visited with family on the weekend. staff seemed distracted and focused on themselves.

Service was great, and our omelettes were equally great! I had the garden fresh omelette, with hash browns and fruit. The only thing strange is that it does not come with cheese???? In the cheesehead state? But thankfully the server warned me before hand and I was able to add it. Hubby had meat lover's omelette and said it was great. We will be back!!! PS another thing we noticed and appreciated is that they provide hand sanitizer on each table! Way to do better!!! read more

Awesome breakfast! I had the barn buster, because I felt like a little piggy this morning. Lol. It came with four eggs, a stack of pancakes, toast, hashbrowns, and bacon. Carb overload! Since we moved back to Wisconsin in April we have been coming here regularly and every single time we have asked to speak with manager because the service was beyond exceptional. The breakfast food was always very good and we enjoyed coming here. My husband decided to apply for job there and a week later hadn't heard from them so he is like let's go have fish fry and I can check on my application. So we went got seated and the waitress took our order then the table next to us. She then comes out to tell us that there was only 1 baked potato left so my daughters order she switched to French fry's, okay not a problem until the table that ordered after us got baked potatoes but we didn't so when our food came out I wanted to speak with a manager just to see what happened and the lady said she was an owner so I proceeded to explain what I have just wrote and she rudely looks at me and says-are you going to eat your food or not because I am not comping your food because you have it and I said no one asked you to comp my meal as it wasn't even my meal that was the one I was upset about it was my daughters baked potato and I continued to tell her about how great the service has always been and how we loved coming here for breakfast and I said the way you are treating us as an owner is crappy and she slammed her hand on our table and said well I am glad your husband isn't going to be working here. We all 3 were in shock of the words that just came out of her mouth, my husband asked for the check for the appetizer and the drinks and she said just leave so we did. I would not recommend this place as an owner of a business you don't talk to customers that way. Will NEVER go back to this establishment! read more

Hours are limited, which really sucks for those of us that work overnights and would love a place to eat at 3am... but their burgers are awesome. Omelets and skillets are great. The buffet wasn't bad the one time I tried that... getting a tad pricey but has always been excellent food so totally worth it! read more

The service is excellent, only wish the food was as good. I had an omelette that had a funny tasting sauce and the biscuit was quite bland. My spouse had a bland biscuit and two eggs with hash browns that were also quite tasteless. Not sure if it's freshness or uninteresting seasoning, but they are likely a franchise without much room to experiment. Too bad as the service deserves better read more

Great breakfast here this morning. I had the Farm Skillet with scrambled eggs, sausage, and grilled peppers and onions on a bed of crispy hash browns with two pancakes. My husband had the Favorite - eggs, bacon, and fresh fruit. Great food and great service. Lots of choices on the menu. read more

We arrived at Country Kitchen at about 12:45 today and were told about the Sunday breakfast Buffett that was restocked until 1. When I went to order that our waitress told me that the Buffett was taken down for the day and I couldn't order it. We ordered off the menu and after our food was delivered our waitress started sweeping the dining room and never came back to check on us again. We were completely finished with our meal for at least 5 minutes before she came back and said 'You don't want anything more do you!' It was more like a statement than a question and set our bill down and walked away. It will be a VERY LONG TIME before we visit this Country Kitchen again. The food was nothing special, the prices high for quantity of food and service was UNACCEPTABLE !!! read more

My wife and I stopped by for breakfast while visiting the House On the Rock. The establishment was clean and not too noisy. The food was good and reasonably priced. I also got 10 percent off my bill for checking in on Yelp. I would eat there again. read more

We ate everything! Great waffle, fresh strawberries, and he said the chicken fried steak had a really good breading. Staff was friendly and attentive. This is a great place for a classic breakfast. It's not fancy and it's not gourmet but it has excellent, home-style cooking. I've only been here for breakfast so I can't comment on lunch or dinner entrees. I've tried a variety of breakfast items and everything has been delicious. read more

While traveling through the area we stopped here for a bite. The burger was good but my girlfriend had the salad with a "raspberry vinaigrette" on the side. Never before have I seen a THICK vinegar based salad dressing. It didn't taste right and then she asked for italian dressing. It still didn't taste right. She picked it out and it was the lettuce that didn't taste right. We complained and then were STILL charged nearly full price for the salad. I strongly recommend avoiding this place. We are from California and stopped here for breakfast. The hostess and our waiter were very friendly. I had 2 eggs over easy with patty sausage. Eggs were done perfectly, not runny or over cooked. Yeh! My husband liked his omelette too. The coffee was brought to is in a thermal carafe that kept it hot and allowed us to have a plentiful supply. First of all, this Country Kitchen should update their hours. It says here they are open until 9 pm. Very false statement. We stopped there over a month ago and it was 8 pm. Door was open and we walked in. Was told they were closed. Yesterday we stopped at about 2:40 pm, hadn't eaten in all day having doctor appointments in Madison. Thought we could stop for a relaxing meal. WRONG. We put in our order and before we received it was given a 20% discount on our NEXT visit because they were having new hours. They would be closing at 3 pm Monday through Thursday. We get our meal and guess what time it is? Yep it's now 3 pm. We had just started eating and were given the bill and asked if would pay the bill so they could close out the till. We felt like here's your hat, what's your hurry. Husband finished first and it didn't take long for his plate to carried away. We won't be going back. My husband said he has had better food. read more

We sat for 45 minutes with a group of 5. At least 6 other groups of 2-3 people came in and got seated right away. Then the people seating us proceeded to put us at a small booth. They didn't even have the brains to put two tables together. Terrible service.... read more
