    Yummy Reuben sandwich

This is a great little cafe if you want a late breakfast or delicious lunch. The menu is quite vast so you're sure to find something to order. One of my dining mates had the Granny's Breakfast which included eggs your way, a meat and either pancakes or French toast. It was really enough for two hungry people! She was happy with the food, the service and the price. I had the Reuben sandwich which came with chips. I love that the thousand Island dressing is served on the side! It was a huge sandwich on fresh marble rye bread, delicious! Great food at Grandma Mary's!

For starters we had the best server ever, She made casual conversation and checked in on us an appropriate amount of times! The staff is very friendly, smiley and you can just tell they love their customers! I myself ordered a meat lovers omelet, with hashbrowns, and a side of ham. My partner ordered the hashbrowns and Biscuts and gravy. I kid you not we placed our order and maybe 5-8 mins later our food was being brought to our table! HIGHLY RECOMMEND very cute spot! Definitely a hidden gem.

Unidentified omelet with hashbrowns and toast; single pancake topped with apples; glass of milk. Quite yummy!

Grandma Mary's Cafe is an awesome place to eat! The food was good and the portions were HUGE! I ordered an omelet with hashbrowns, as well as a single pancake topped with apples. When they brought my order, I was shocked at the size of the portions. The omelet alone was a foot long and the hashbrowns was its own continent. Needless to say, I only ate half of the meal - which filled me up really well - and saved the rest for an equally large dinner. The price was inexpensive. The food quality was well prepared: authentic, nothing fancy. The family working at this cafe was very polite - we talked and joked a bit - and they made me feel quite welcomed in their restaurant. With the help of my GPS, I came across this cafe after I toured Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin near Spring Green. The cafe was several miles away from Taliesin and was along my return route to Chicago, 3.5 hrs away. Even though Taliesin had its own restaurant at the visitor's center, I wanted to venture out into the surrounding community to get a feel of the Wisconsin countryside and its people. (FYI, I was currently on vacation from the S.F. Bay Area and it was my first time being in the Midwest.) This cafe was so worth it and left me with a big smile on my face!

Solid Small town diner. We had the big breakfast with pancakes and a veggie omelet. Huge portions... Decent prices. A little bland, but nothing a little hot sauce didn't cure. I wish the syrup had been real maple syrup. Seems a shame to scratch make pancakes and then only offer cheap corn based breakfast syrup. It's a local joint... I like local joints.

Wifey had a hamburger with a slice of raw onion. I went with the cheeseburger, pepper jack and a slice of raw onion. Split an order of seasoned fries. Burgers were large, guessing 1/3 to 1/2 a pound, coarse ground beef cooked perfectly for us. Fries were piping hot and nicely seasoned. Everything was excellent. Food came hot to the table. Service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend without any reservations. Will head back on a Friday for the fish fry.

Inside, it's all lodge-like knotty cedar on it's high ceiling and walls, and while that may not be novel for this part of the state, it is especially good quality, well-maintained, and nicely designed compared to the interiors of many of the other well-worn taverns in the area. However; that does not carry over to the bar seats that are well worn-out and held together with electric tape. So who cares, no one can see it once their butt is firmly in place. Highly recommended: Prime Rib breakfast every Saturday and Sunday from 8a.m. til 12 p.m. Tender, juicy, lightly browned, served with tasty au jus, eggs your way, and hash browns made "special" with the addition of onion and melted cheese, on request. Noteworthy touches: an adorable, elderly poodle mascot behind the bar, a lazy calico cat with her name embroidered on her own stool, and customers are welcome to bring in their well-behaved pups, as well; I would be remiss not to mention a small but adequate selection of slots in a side room near the screened back door. The requisite beer and alcohol are available but served in plastic "glasses", so do like the natives and drink beer from the bottle. Full, decent quality pub grub menu. Ask the bartender for directions to Trader's tiki bar and food on the adjacent camp grounds on the Wisconsin river. It's called an island and it has the vibe. If the upscale, aggressive bar scene in Chicago is beginning to seem more chore than it's worth, the quasi-dive/restaurants and supper clubs strung like wooden beads on a coir chain along the by-ways of this close-in Driftless Region (Google it) of Wisconsin are well worth the scenic, pastoral drive and time--especially if you're not looking to hook up, fall in love, get married, and have kids. It's simply a great way to unwind, relax, and just be yourself by yourself, with your best buds, or SO--and return home with change for your ten-spot jingling in your pocket.

The space is located along the Wisconsin River and the large windows in the cafe allow for a breathtaking view while enjoying lunch. The menu is quite small which I appreciated but still had a hard time deciding what I wanted to enjoy because they all sounded so yummy. They use fresh local ingredients as much as possible ensuring that they support the local region and aligns beautifully with the concept of Frank Lloyd Wright. It was a rainy day so I opted for comfort with grilled cheese and a soup of the day. The gooey cheese sandwich with aged cheddar and Gouda paired perfectly with my potato bacon soup. My friend opted for the kale chicken salad that included ingredients for a scrumptious fall salad with pepitas, cranberries, butternut squash, goat cheese and sherry shallot dressing. The set up is order at the counter, find a seat and they bring your food to you. It was a really quiet day and our food came out quickly. The staff seemed to be out of sight much of the time so if you needed something it was a little bit of a wait. I had asked for a box but they didn't bring it and I ended up having to ask again.
