First, be aware that they take reservations and I highly recommend that you take advantage of that. We started off with a couple of Old Fashioneds and they were tall and delicious. A nice big slice of orange and two cherries floating on top were a nice touch. I ordered the combo of two pieces of cod and two jumbo shrimp, all deep fried in their Spotted Cow beer batter. My husband had three pieces of cod, beer battered and deep fried. We both chose the hash browns with cheese and onions and cole slaw. The batter on the fish and shrimp comes so crispy and golden brown. Absolutely sublime. The hash browns are cooked on a flat top and are crispy and perfectly done. The cole slaw is creamy and tasted home made, the rye bread was there because it had to be and it was a nice hearty slice of pumpernickel rye. Be prepared to wait, even with a reservation. It's not the biggest place out there and the kitchen is in full view at the end of the bar (it is small.). The wait is well worth it.

When we got to the Vintage Brewing we had hoped to sit outside but everyone else had the same idea. It would have been a 20-30 wait so we chose to sit inside at one of their high tops. The area was in the bar and roomy we could see everything that was going on around the bar but kind of in the way of the thorough way of the kitchen where food came out and where they get their drinks from the bartenders. Our server walked by often so we received great service. I ordered the Rueben, it was delicious I'm so happy the have found another so close to home. The corned beef was thick, with just the right amount of juiciness, sauerkraut, thousand Island dressing and the best marble rye bread toasted perfect perfectly. I ordered straight fries well seasoned. I also ordered their homemade root beer, I'm not a fan. It tasted more like black licorice than root beer. I'd definitely go back and order visit its sister establishment in Madison on East Washington Avenue.

It is located along the Wisconsin River a short drive outside of Madison. Vintage Brewing is right on the river, giving the patio a really pretty setting. The patio is large and has a great spot for bands with plenty of tables for the audience. We decided to order dinner while we were there. I am not a beer drinker so I ordered the Wisconsinite ( a blackberry brandy old-fashioned). It wasn't bad, but definitely more on the sweet side than I care for. We shared the fried cheese curds, which had a great flavor, though not the best I've had. I really enjoyed my blackened salmon salad. The salmon was delicious and the salad was fresh. My husband also enjoyed his pulled pork sandwich. They had some fun swag for sale, and I came home with a cute pink t-shirt. All in all, Vintage Brewing is a cool place with beautiful location a great vibe. If you have a chance, catch The Sparks Band (a fun cover band).

Last time I ordered the prime rib, which ended up having as much flavor as a piece of paper. Tonight I ordered the crab cakes and lobster bisque. Again underwhelming. The crab cakes didn't have much flavor and the lobster bisque had no chucks (big or small) of lobster and tasted like it came from a can. It didn't taste bad, but I expected more from lobster bisque. One person ordered the salmon and really enjoyed it. Several people ordered the Thursday special BBQ chicken and ribs. The chicken was nice and crispy and the ribs were fall off the bone delicious. I really like that they ask if you want white or dark meat chicken (and most ordered the dark). The salmon and BBQ specials were very generous. In fact most took at least 1/2 of the ribs and their side home with them. The rest of the food was fine, but no one indicated exceptional. My recommendation is go for the chicken and ribs.

The cabbage was good, and standard, no special flavor. I liked the spaetzle as well. The meal started with a salad, nothing special, spring greens with one tomato and one cucumber slice. The service was good, very standard for a WI Supper Club and the beer was cold. I'll be coming back to try some other dishes and I recommend this for the atmosphere and decent food.

I'm not entirely on board with that, but I noticed that was the norm in this part of Wisconsin. If you're like me and have already recovered from COVID, you're okay here; if you're worried about getting the disease or being a carrier, your best bet would be to avoid this place.)
