This is elite breakfast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The quaint little house feels exactly like you're walking into grandma and grandpa's house for a good meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a specialty coffee blend from a local shop in town, a homemade pop tart on the menu, and anywhere you can sub a biscuit is a-ok in my book. The portions are big and you won't leave hungry!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Absolutely lovely place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was an 11/10 - she belongs in fine dining I swear. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is lovely and clean, adorable decor[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and the food was stellar. Highly recommend their buttery soft frittatas.

Food was absolutely delicious!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a small looking restaurant on the outside but the restaurant inside looked so big and spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating upstairs and downstairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitress,Renee, was super sweet and so attentive. We loved having her for a server. Will definitely be back here.

Now this place was delicious. Between the cold brew coffee with maple cold foam, the smash burger, and kettle chips and the s'mores poptart. You cannot go wrong. Only mistake we made was not making reservations earlier - the wait was about 35-40 min. But we overall loved it all!

Always a top notch breakfast! Don't forget the cinnamon roll and the pop tarts and an Otto's Sunrise to wash it all down.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very cute spot to grab breakfast![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the atmosphere and the service was great but the food was just okay.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the frittata which looked good but was lacking flavor. Loved the salad and potatoes that came with the dish. We also tried the French toast which again, looked better than it tasted. I would definitely return and try other items because I liked the place itself!

A reservation is a must on the weekends as it's a very busy place, food was amazing. Loved the berry french toast and chorizo scrambler, my cold brew was also amazing.

Should have taken photo before I began eating. Great bread and breakfast sausage.

Amazing breakfast! 5 of us dined, and breakfast was enjoyed by all. We enjoyed it so much we went back for breakfast the next day! Great food.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is really cute and in a nice spot in town.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We loved the food options and also that you could get breakfast cocktails. Loved the cinnamon roll and the sweet potato hash. Our waiter was super helpful and informative.

My husband and I went in to Otto's for breakfast this morning. It was easily the best breakfast spot we have found in Galena! It is an old home converted to a breakfast/lunch spot. We learned the name "Otto" pays homage to a man named Otto who originally lived upstairs, had plans to make it a restaurant downstairs, but unfortunately just wasn't able to financially. It is warm and welcoming inside! We sat up at the bar, but we learned it is smart to make reservations ahead of time! I started with some cold brew which was great! Pro tip, add the maple cold foam on top it is delicious! My husband had the country skillet. The biscuit was delicious! He really liked the biscuit gravy too and thought it wasn't so heavy like some can be. I ordered the sweet potato hash which was delicious! I ordered some sourdough on the side. We also decided to split the homemade pop tart and you should also! It was so delicious! We also learned that the chef behind the restaurant is Kevin Scharpf who was on season 16 of Top Chef, too cool!! We will definitely be going back to Otto's next time we are in Galena!

    Apple pop tart

While in Galena.....Worth the Repeat Visit! This is officially our new favorite breakfast spot in Galena--we came two days in a row! Everything is made with quality ingredients: Scratch-made pancakes w/ real maple syrup & killer French toast. The sweet potato hash & salmon lox were outstanding. Get the flaky apple pop tarts! Service was great; sitting at the counter was cool both times. 10/10 recommend!

I felt compelled to leave this review because exceptional service like hers deserves to be recognized. From the moment we sat down, Lexi was attentive, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. She had an answer to every single question we asked -- not just about the menu, but about the business itself. She knew so much about Bread & Vine that I genuinely thought she might be the owner. That level of pride and understanding is rare and speaks volumes about her professionalism. What really stood out was how accommodating and engaging she was. She made thoughtful recommendations, not only for food and drinks, but also for other places to visit and things to do around Galena. It truly elevated our entire experience. Because of her suggestions and the way she described everything so well, we ended up ordering (and purchasing) more than we originally planned -- simply because we trusted her recommendations. Lexi is the kind of employee every business hopes to have. She represents Bread & Vine with confidence, warmth, and expertise. She absolutely deserves recognition -- and in my opinion, a raise -- for the way she goes above and beyond for guests. I hope she sees this and I hope this reaches someone as important as her. We'll definitely be back, and a big reason why is Lexi.

Both of them said they enjoyed their meals, and I thought my reuben was excellent and much preferred to typical road trip fast food stops. It was genuinely the perfect stop midway from Nebraska to Chicago, and a nice opportunity to stretch our legs and have a refreshing and filling meal. I would definitely recommend to try Big Bill's!

Unfortunately service was not good, the staff treated us as if they were inconvenienced by us even though the restaurant didn't close for another 3 hours and people came in to eat after us. We each got a cup of coffee (we never got a chance to see what drinks were on the menu otherwise we would have gotten juice, the cider, or hot chocolate) and then shared the biscuits and gravy that comes with 2 eggs (scrambled). The coffee was boring, normal hotel coffee which is fine but I felt extra disappointed by it when we were finally given menu and saw better drink options. The biscuits and gravy with eggs were better than a standard "hotel breakfast" but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here if I wasn't a guest of DeSoto getting it delivered to my room.

A perfect romantic getaway…read more The entire weekend my wife and I could not stop talking about how charming and relaxing our room was. Matthew, the Innkeeper, seems to have thought of everything when it comes to comfort and relaxation. Our brunch each morning was healthy, fresh, and gourmet prepared. We loved that we were steps away from the main shopping street of the town, and walking distance from historical sites to tour and the charming businesses of the town. We plan on returning to The Jail Hill Inn and becoming "repeat offenders" as we loved staying in our room so much this past weekend we still have so much of Galena to see.
