Delicious food and amazing service. We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary and wanted somewhere special to go. We sat outside in the covered patio, it was comfortable and decorated nicely. We started with the fried green tomatoes, I have never had them with marinara sauce and mozzarella, but they were great. I had the 5oz filet with shrimp and my husband had the Jack Daniels steak. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. I was not impressed with the salad, but only because I am not a fan of fancy lettuces.

Great place! We decided to dine at the bar and had great service from our bartender Jeff. We had old fashioneds and mulled over the many great choices on the menu. We decided on the steak martini, crab cakes appetizers and the winter orchard salad. Everything was so good. The steak martini is so unique and wonderful presentation. The dressing on the orchard salad was outstanding. A very enjoyable evening. We look forward to returning.

We had an amazing dinner, the mussel appetizer was great, could have drank the broth, the espresso steak was perfectly cooked and so wonderful and the finale of flourless chocolate cake topped off our wonderful evening with over the top service.

Amazing experience at Fried Green Tomatoes. The food was delicious - had the espresso filet with broccolini and red potatoes. The filet was so tasty. The one mistake I made was getting the espresso martini - it was not that great. Service was good - mark was a great server and dealt with a lot of us with food allergies and such. Loved the atmosphere and will be back again!

Fried Green Tomatoes did not disappoint once again. We arrived 30 minutes early and they seated us right away. Very good service. The salad and bread that came with our entrees were excellent. Our scallops with risotto and shrimp & burrata ravioli rival top Chicago restaurants. And, the crème brûlée was certainly better than what we got in downtown Chicago two weeks ago. Combined with small town Midwestern hospitality and what's not to love? It's our Thursday time at Fried Green Tomatoes and we will certainly be back! Bravo and grazie!

Food was amazing here, we got the fried green tomatoes to start along with chicken Marsala and the pesto tortellini. All entrees come with salad and bread which was freshly baked and just so yummy with the olive oil and Parmesan cheese. The salad had what is called pepper drops which were like a pickled spicy tomato but not that spicy just so good!! Place is huge and has multiple levels. Service was great too. Definitely check it out. Haha it's advertised everywhere and for a good reason!

From service to food to ambiance we loved Fried Green Tomatoes. The bruschetta was as delicious. The bread was perfectly toasted. Not too hard and not soggy. The mussels were tender and the sauce was exquisite. White wine reduction with garlic, butter, shallots, and a hint of chorizo. For our main course we had the house salad and I was delighted that it was not iceberg or romaine but rather a mix of greens. My husband gas the Jack Daniels glazed ribeye abs red potatoes. He ordered it rare and they delivered. I had the Burrata stuffed ravioli with grilled shrimp, baby scallops, zucchini, shallots, and a deliciously creamy roasted red pepper sauce.

Not our first rodeo at this old joint! Always a phenomenal time, and great in every aspect that a restaurant can be. Food was outstanding, service was excellent and we always enjoy visiting when in Galena!

Amazing find! Went for New Year's Eve dinner. Even thought the place has mixed reviews , I decided to give it a go. And I'm happy I did! The place is very cute inside, reminiscent of an old Italian restaurant. The server was attentive but not overwhelming. Had the sweet chilli shrimp as appetizer, about 10 shrimps, very tasty and fresh. Now the house bread with parm, was really a hit. They make their own bread and they dipped it in butter. As main course the osso buco was a great choice. The meat was falling off the bone and the sauce was delicious. Really a great dish for a cold evening. Also had the seafood linguini which was also really delicious. For desert, the tiramisu came in first and crème brûlée on second. It was a bit on the expensive side but it was really worth it. Food portions were just right and even though the restaurant was packed, didn't feel rushed. Definitely recommend!

We had an outstanding experience at this establishment!! We recommend calling in advance because it was pretty busy on Saturday night and we did need a reservation. Ambiance was romantic but also a great spot for a small group. It is deceivingly large and can accommodate a lot of tables. Service was so friendly and prompt, we never felt like we were stuck waiting. 10/10 recommend trying the steak martini as an appetizer. Split perfectly for two people, it was delicious and unique. Great especially if you wanted a taste of steak/potatoes but wanted to order something different than that for your entree. Everything we tried was fantastic, you can't go wrong! Chicken and pastas were perfectly cooked. Don't skimp on dessert, the cheesecake was also divine. Would love to come back when we're in town! It was a really nice treat and for a reasonably priced nice night out.

    Free salad and bread!

Free salad and bread! OK, I just had to say that first because when we ate at Fritz and Frites the first night we got into Galena, we were sooo hungry and wished that we had some free bread. Fried Green Tomatoes on the other hand delivered and then some! Having learned our lesson from the other place, we ordered the fried green tomatoes and crabcakes to start, so it was a pleasant surprise to get the free salad and bread as well. Everything was absolutely delicious, I had never had fried green tomatoes, and they impressed all of us, even my friend who didn't like normal tomatoes. For my main course, I ordered pork Osso Bucco, which was huge and so tender, it was falling off the bone! Some of us also tried dessert, and I ordered spumoni ice cream, which was very delicious and had some nuts at the bottom of the cup. I only small note was that we made a reservation, but when we came in, they said they were running behind and we had to wait an additional 30 minutes. They were very apologetic about it and thankfully the service was excellent and we ordered right away and got the appetizers and (did I mention the) free bread!!! OK, enough about the free bread, anyway, even though we had a slightly longer. Wait, as we were waiting, multiple groups came in to inquire and the host said it was a two hour wait! So, this is definitely the place to be in Galena! Totally delicious!

My husband and I arrived a bit early- parking is really tough on a Friday night in downtown Galena but we scored a spot a block away quickly. So, we headed to the bar to enjoy a pre-dinner drink. $10 Pinot Grigio and Petosi $6.00 on tap- I enjoyed the piano player for a bit! Very talented! Once our party all arrived, we will seated in one of the dining rooms. We started with sharing saganaki, because this is what you do here. Most everyone ordered the filet, but I wanted the salmon and husband had the Greek chicken. The entrees come with a starch and soup or salad so we chose the cream of broccoli and a baked potato. Everything was very tasty and service was excellent as they work on a team - so there was always someone promptly picking up dishes etc. The meal ran about $75 pp as we averaged it out

We got a resevation a week before, and it was a good thing. This place books up quickly, so if you want to get a seat, CALL FIRST! We arrived several minutes early out of respect to assure if they had an opening, we could be seated. Our seating was perfectly aligned with our reservation. We had a nice seat in a long room, with typical western regalia on the walls and ceilings. I should note the servers who were on the tall side were experts at tipping their heads to avoid the lighting. We started with an order of Flaming Saganaki (the sign does say GREEK Steak House) which arrived at the table sizzling, and created quite a large flame when it was lit up with a hearty OOOPA from the servers. It tasted as good as saganaki usually does of course. The salads came out, and were quite good. You have your choice of dressings, which were more than enough to cover the salad. I failed to mention the bread and butter, which while not pictured, were very good. The entrees came out - my wife had ordered the 20 ounce Prime Rib, and it was beautiful. I honestly had second thoughts about my Filet order her Prime Rib was so spectacular, and fortunately for me, she took pity on my eyes and gave me a few chunks to enjoy. The Filet Mignon was perfect. So tender, so juicy, and well-seasoned. I cut it in increasingly smaller pieces to enjoy it more. We really enjoyed our visit, and we believe you'd enjoy it too!

By no means is this a typical "bring the kids" type of dining establishment, but sometimes parents just gotta do what they gotta do... and the staff at Fritz and Frites were truly so kind and accepting. The kids drew with crayons on the table paper cover and ate some delicious mac and cheese from the sides menu. They were as content as the adults were with their meals! First, the toasted ravioli's are clearly mass-produced and just heated at the restaurant. Then, people must love the idea of salad and garlic bread (like the OG), but this is not a great offering. The bread is like that you would get at a pizza place with your order of pasta and the salad is literally swamped in onions and dressing. The pasta is house made, and fine, but that was about all that was okay. The veal marsala is just odd. The sauce is the consistency of a thick, brown gravy and it just serves to disguise the over-cooked meat. At over $100 for one adult and two kids, you'd be better-off elsewhere. Extra star for the wonderful service from Gracie.

Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of the verde, which was a bummer since it's usually my favorite. The chunky guac, though, was a solid 10/10. The margarita flights were 30% off, so that was an easy choice. Tons of flavor options to pick from, which was fun. For my main, I went with the Suizo burrito topped with melted Chihuahua cheese. I didn't love it -- maybe I'm spoiled living in the Quad Cities where we've got incredible Mexican spots on every corner. Something about it just felt a little off. To top it off, we were constantly swatting away flies at our table, which didn't help. Still, the service was great and our server was super friendly and attentive.
