Really nice supper club. Not too big, just big enough to be friendly and attentive. Seated promptly and met immediately with a plate of spreads - cheese, liver pate and butter - and an assortment of fresh vegetables and crackers/bread. Started our meals with fresh greens house salads. There were 4 in our party. One New York strip, one ribeye, one filet and one salmon. Steaks were very generous and cooked perfectly. Three of us had hash browns cooked crisp, one had baked potato. Hash browns came with a cheese sauce if desired. Salmon was a generous slab cooked to perfection. I had a side of mushrooms which were delicious. Our server was very attentive. Food came promptly to the table hot. Highly recommend without any reservations. Can't wait to return. Oh my gosh this place is exceptional!!! The ambiance can't be beat. From the bartendars to the chefs, to the staff, and owner everyone was just wonderful to us. The bartender started our night with the most well made delicious drinks, I just loved my "Charlie Brown" and the other three people in my party loved their drinks also. Than we sat down and had the best cheese and relish dish around. We couldn't stop eating it and finished the basket of crackers and breadsticks. We all bought the cheese spreads to take home. For the appertizer we had the steak bites, the tips just melted in your mouth and the sauce and cheese were spot on. Then came dinner, WOW I haven't had such great tasting New York strip steaks, seasonings were spot on. They were all cooked to perfection. One of the four of us had the filet and grilled shrimp and enjoyed both very much! I also have to talk about the sides they tasted great too. Two of us had the best cottage cheese ever and hash browns with the awesome cheese sauce and our husbands had baked potatoes and salads with homemade thousand island dressing. We are from Cedar Rapids, IA and we decided to do destination dinners with another couple. This was our first outing and what a great choice!! We had reservations for 5:30 but got there early and we were able to be seated right away. Our waitress was there fairly quickly and took our drink orders. We decided to start with onion rings and what a great choice, they were delicious. Two of us got prime rib and two of us got 8 ounce filets, 2 baked potatoes and 2 hash browns. We also got salads and French onion soup. Everything was delicious!!!! Service was attentive but not overbearing. The only issues we had, and they were slight, we had to ask for menus and our salads came out with our appetizer. I'm a big fan of getting the appetizer before the salad. But the food was so good I overlooked it this time. It was just a bit pricey but well worth it. We look forward to going back. read more

I almost never give out 5 stars but this old Supper Club deserves it. This isn't your grandfather's supperclub. The chef is current and cosmopolitan. Our food was great. They were very knowledgeable and helpful in recommending gluten free choices for one of our party, The only criticism was that the walleye was a bit heavily breaded. The bluegill was perfect. So was the prime rib. My Chicken Picatta was just right and properly served on pasta. The relish tray was a blast from the past. You can buy the cheese spread to take home. The staff was great. The bus boy shook my hand and thanked me for coming! The bartender asked me how everything went. I am not used to hardworking family like atmospheres where satisfaction counts. Being from western PA, we had never heard of a 'supper club' until a bartender in Galena told us about them. Accordingly, we looked some up online and decided to visit this one. And we're so glad we chose "3 Mile House!" First, the hospitality was great; starting with the owner greeting you and mingling with the patrons between 4-4:30 before dinner service starts at 4:30. We were seated shortly after 4:30, which the owner apologized for simply because he was enjoying a conversation with visitors from Alaska. How could you be upset with someone for being kind to other customers? Plus, the delay in seating wasn't much past 4:30. From there we were attended to by a wonderful young waitress who had a very friendly personality and a great work ethic. Her service was top-notch! Also, the owner was assisting all of the waitresses and checking-in on everyone's dining experience as they dined. That was an awesome touch in our opinion! Onto the reason for being there... The food (all pictured) was fresh and delicious! We both had steak dinners, which come with two sides (but they have a great selection of options, which is why we chose this particular supper club). We also had appetizers, which came in very generous portions sizes along with the relish tray that is provided upon being seated. The relish tray was nice (and apparently a traditional part of a supper club) but we were more excited to have our appetizers, and they did not disappoint! We also ultimately ordered dessert to-go, and after all that food plus two adult beverages, our bill was about $130. My wife and I have traveled over half of the US (big, medium, small cities & towns), and this place offered one of the best experiences we've ever had. Overall, this place offers a unique, quaint, very personable dining experience, with a somewhat kitschy ambiance, at a reasonable price when compared to other restaurants with comparable quality and service. (I know we've paid more for less of both elsewhere in the places we've traveled) Conclusion: If you're considering a 'supper club' then I'd definitely recommend this one! read more

If the fine folks at Yelp would allow me a 4.3 rating, it would be such; alas, they don't. Happened to be in the Galena area and wanted a supper club. Called Three Mile House and reserved a time for my partner and I. A packed parking lot gave me the immediate impression of the place being a good restaurant. My first impression was correct. The bar area was tight with people; with two bartenders working, I got my order in quickly. The old fashioneds we received were not lacking alcohol, just lacked flavor. While I was getting drinks, my partner talked to the host and we were actually seated a couple minutes ahead of our reservation. The dining room is pretty simple. Nothing to write home about, but functional for only having 20 tables. Immediately, I was struck by how well organized and efficient the staff was. From the waitresses to the bus boys (are you allowed to still call them that?), they didn't waste time in getting orders taken, food to the table and tables cleaned and reset for more patrons. The food was very good. The vegetable tray wasn't pretty but met its purpose. The side salad was simple but also checked the box. Our main meals, a ribeye (how I measure the worth of a restaurant) and grilled chicken, were nice-sized, flavorful and properly prepared. When we were leaving, the owner made it a point to thank us and shake my hand. A nice parting touch to a good experience. Check it out if you're in the neighborhood! read more

Strong, large drinks (a little more expensive than other area supper clubs bc of this). Good relish tray, i like the addition of vegetables where some places only have the dips; meat dip and cheese dip are whipped which makes for an odd texture but did have good flavor. Ranch is excellent. I got the catfish sandwich with fries. Fries are excellent. Crispy and well seasoned. Catfish was fine, prefer a cornmeal breading for catfish, this was more like beer batter. Bun was sub par, too soft and absorbed the heat/steam from the fish and became mushy. Husband got the pesto pasta. Has artichoke hearts, spinach and sun dried tomatoes. Artichoke was mostly inedible leaves, not hearts. Would have been better with more spinach, actual hearts, and fewer sun dried tomatoes (which are naturally tart and leathery). Server was friendly and helpful. But service overall was rushed. read more

This place is like going home. First and foremost, the food is outstanding. Best meal I have ever had in the tri state area. We had filets and ribeyes. Cooked to perfection. The old fashioned my husband had was phenomenal- Made with brandy instead of bourbon, and they have our beloved Spotted Cow. The hospitality is unmatched, from the bartender to the owner to our wonderful server Reelyn. The atmosphere is cozy and homey and you just won't get a better meal anywhere else in the area. We were up in the Galena area looking for somewhere to go that wasn't in town or over in Dubuque. After a quick google search we landed on Three Mile House. The reviews we saw on here and on other sites were all positive and we decided to check it out. This place exceeded all of our expectations. The service was fantastic and the steaks are phenomenal. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the host (and manager/owner maybe?) He was super friendly and got us seated right away. We sat for just moment before our server, Dawn, came by and took a drink order. Her drink suggestion of a brandy old fashioned was excellent. The food was hot and fresh. Service was very friendly, knowledgeable and patient (with a picky eater in our group.) Food arrived quickly and the staff was attentive but we never felt rushed. This place runs like a well-oiled machine in the best way possible. My only regret is not checking it out sooner. read more

I wanted my daughters to experience a supper club on our trip to Dubuque so I found this one online that had great reviews. We were there right at opening and had to wait for the dining room to be ready. The traditional relish tray and crackers came out and we ordered the tenderloin tips and some french onion soups. The girls got pastas and I had a seafood combo plate with cod, lobster, shrimp and scallops. All in we got to $100 which was well worth it for this experience! read more

We found 3 Mile on the internet searching for a restaurant open in the Galena area to celebrate our Anniversary. What a joy to find this place. Our Anniversary dinner could not have been more enjoyable from start to finish. The complimentary relish tray on the table was an unexpected treat. I ordered lobster tails and my husband a filet mignon. Hubby said his filet mignon was the best that he has ever had. The owner sent over a dessert for us to share. Stopped here for the first time on Sunday night. The place was busy - only a couple tables open. We didn't have a reservation - but we were seated in just a few minutes. We were greeted by the bar tender and another gentleman showed us to our table (assume that one of these gents was the owner). We had 3Mile old fashioned, martini and fuzzy navel - all were really good. The relish tray was nice. 2 of us had the chicken cutlet with capers and another had the filet. The food was excellent. Steak cooked perfectly. The chicken was great - a little on the salty side due to all the capers. But if you love capers you'll really like this (and since I like capers it was excellent). The baked potato was fluffy and good. Decided to order the brownie Sunday and split with my sister. It was absolutely homemade brownie and it was enormous. We couldn't eat it all. It was topped with a high quality vanilla ice cream. Dawn was our server. She did a great job. She was kind enough to brew some fresh regular coffee for us for our dessert. Will absolutely be back. Kid had a baseball tournament in Dyersville last Summer so went here for my birthday. The five of us had a great time. Everyone's dinner was outstanding and the service was quite good. A landmark restaurant, supper club just across the river from Dubuque. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table where a nice relish try was waiting for us. The server, very friendly, took our drink and food order. We did not wait long for either the drinks or food. I had the Canadian walleye. Two very large filets, I was only able to finish one! They were fried and delicious. We finished our meal with the salted caramel cheese cake. It was delicious! The restaurant is small with a nice separate bar area. When we left the restaurant was pretty full. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is quaint and you will enjoy the experience.Also recommend reservations and arrive early. read more

The swordfish was wonderful, as was the walleye. The hash browns with cheese and onions are one of our favorites. Service as always was brilliant and very personable, from the waitstaff to the bartender. As always we ran into a few local celebrities. The colloquial atmosphere and classy decor remind one of the era of the great supper club era in Wisconsin. read more

The cheese dip was good but the rest of the relish tray was mediocre. Weird stuff: Restaurant opens at 4 pm but no seating in the dining room until 4:30. Very quaint old school supper club where you can make a reservation but take your time hanging out at the bar before you ask to be seated. Staff is very efficient and the owner visits every table. I ordered fried chicken, baked potato and a salad. My husband ordered a steak salad. Our food was definitely reheated food from their refrigerator. Chicken was very dry, no moisture at all. The potato wouldn't even melt the butter and tasted like it was probably cooked at least 2 days before hand. My husband steak pieces were very tuff and tasted freezer burnt. His lettuce should have been thrown out not served. I had a soda and my husband had ice tea. Our bill was I believe $45.00. The bartender as we came in was very pleasant and directed us to the dining room. There was an elderly gentleman that seated us at a table right away, and brought us a relish tray and basket of crackers which I thought was a nice touch. The breadsticks in the basket were very stale and couldn't even be bitten into. The waitress came and took our order, but the elderly gentleman had to bring our food out to us. Drinks were never refilled and we had to ask for our check so that we could leave. When we arrived we were pleased that there were a lot of cars there in the parking lot. When we left we realized that it was the only place to eat and (out in the middle of the country. ), so they had to go there. read more

I had read other reviews and they were correct, Three Mike House is a winner! I had made reservations for 6 pm on a Monday evening because few restaurants were open on Monday. I'm glad I did because there was only one other table open for our party of five. One of our group had never eaten at a Supper Club and wanted to experience the traditional relish tray with the cheese, liver sausage, & ranch spreads. My friend loved the liver sausage spread. My husband and I each had a steak that was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy. Others in our group had the beef tips, chicken Parmesan, and grilled salmon. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and definitely were full from the generous portions. We will return the next time we are in the area. read more
