Went back again a few years ago and this is now Our favorite place in the area! Wonderful food and service!!

Our family had a day trip to Dubuque, and my brother suggested this place. I had not heard of it and am always up to try something new and unique. Right from the start the hostess was rude. I thought maybe it was me, but observed her rude to others. This is a restaurant's first chance to set the tone, and she is not doing them any justice. We got a table and ordered drinks. My mom got the loaded Bloody Mary, which she said was delicious. It also was LOADED. Get this for sure! My SIL got the broasted chicken and said it was tasty as well. If you like chicken, it would be worth trying. Sadly I got a Mushroom and Swiss burger and it was fine. I always get burgers well done from a food safety perspective. It was medium at best. We already waited 40 minutes for food so I didn't send it back. The server never came back to ask how our food was either. My niece got a grilled cheese on the kid's menu. It was 90% bread for a 4 year old. Parents don't get this option! It's not worth the money. I know they were busy so trying to be respectful of that. Unfortunately the service was slow, the staff lacking and the food average to below, so go for a drink but choose your food wisely. read more

Passing through Dubuque and stopped at this gem! Great food and even better service. Space was limited so we sat at the bar. Ordered some cheese curds and buffalo cauliflower bites as a starter. Very tasty! Would order again. For our main we had the fish and chips and their wing special. The kids ordered off of their kids menu. The place was very clean and well decorated. Their bartender provided excellent service and we watched him make plenty of gorgeous cocktails as we enjoyed our lunch! If we lived here I would definitely do this for a date night! read more

We started coming here few years ago and the risotto was to die for. Now I could just die eating it from the excessive garlic. In addition the sauce on the butternut squash has changed according to my wife and not for the better. The service we received was good. That's the only reason for the second star. read more

Went here for the first time and it was busy, even on a Wednesday night. There was a small table or the bar open without a wait so we sat up at the bar. Service was great, she took very good care of us. We started with the cheese curds and those were fantastic! I got their meatloaf which comes with a dinner salad. Their salads are nothing to write hime about. Fairly plain, but if you like spinach, you are in luck. The meatloaf was average, but for around 30 bucks, it was not knock your socks off sadly. They have a full bar but the bar stools are all bit wobbly so drink carefully haha! read more

I'm a vegetarian and finding vegetarian options in Dubuque, can be a challenge. Their "veggie" patty is actually grilled cauliflower. It is amazing and I recommend it to all of my friends. read more

The Parmesan wings are the best wings I've had. They don't skimp, the wings are ginormous.

Traveling through town and stumbled upon this an assuming place. Once you go in its cute place, clean, great menu with a lot of variety. We learned that they make their own chips, sauces, onion rings . Etc. Food was great with a lot of bold flavor. Only small criticism is that the steak tacos seemed a little chintzy as far as toppings. More shell than toppings. Flavor was great as well has the house salsa. Gyro was great. Loaded with a ton of fresh toppings. Definitely worth checking out. read more

First, off the service was excellent. The menu was unique and versatile. Really cute place. Food was hot when it came out. We tried the soup, which I'm not a soup person and it was fantastic. I also had the steak bites that were tender and flavorful. My husband's burger was good and it comes with fresh cut fries. Fresh cut fries are always a win in our book. read more

All of the meals were delicious and the portions were large, so you won't go away hungry. Even with as full as I was...there is always room for at least a few tastes of dessert! Like the last visit, I suggested that we order cheesecake to share (Salted Caramel & Chocolate) - and again everyone at the table found them delicious. My favorite place to dine while in Dubuque. Very exciting dishes with flare and unique ingredients!

First time eating here and found on Yelp. The food was very good. The bartender was top notch. Unfortunately, our server ruined the experience. When we arrived, the welcoming was less than warm. Because I can be rather particular regarding quality of service, I kept my mouth shut so as not to influence the opinions of others in my party. Within the first 10 minutes 2 people from my party mentioned to us how gruff and off putting the server was. Apparently, it wasn't just me. Great place other than the one server, who ruined the experience. We will not be back. read more

Yummy! We were told was a 20-25 min wait, but we only waited 5 min for a Friday night. We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer and they were soooo cheesy. The sriracha ranch sauce paired nicely with the curds. I ordered the special teriyaki steak kimchi bowl, while my boyfriend ordered the wings and a side of veggies. The steak in my bowl was yummy, but, as an Asian, the rice was a bit meh. The bowl came with a salad which included a delicious vinaigrette dressing! My boyfriend enjoyed his wings, which were made from QUALITY chicken. The drinks were also sooooo delicious. Our total of our meal came out lower than we expected so we were pleasantly surprised. This was our only night in Dubuque, and we're very happy we chose to spend dinner here! read more

Had a wonderful dining experience here. Everything came together well from the customer service to the exciting menu to the actual taste of the food. The ambiance is lively. The menu includes a variety of tastes and I'd like to try more menu items. During my visit, I had the pork chops that came with caramelized brussel sprouts and were topped with delicious butternut squash as well as feta cheese. I'm not sure if I just went at a bad time, as I had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon when it wasn't super busy but the experience wasn't very impressive. To start off though, I like the setup of the restaurant itself with some unique decor, plenty of spacing between tables, comfortable atmosphere, and friendly service. However, the food was a bit of a let down. It took close to thirty minutes to come out with the two dishes, which weren't too impressive. The American burger was pretty juicy and I liked the char on the meat and the fresh lettuce and tomato. However, the food didn't come out super hot and the fries were only warm as well. The ratio of soft to crispy on the truffle fries was definitely leaning much more towards the former and the Parmesan overpowered any truffle oil that may have been on the fries. The duroc porkchop was the exact opposite. I understand that the cut is a little leaner than Berkshire pork, but this was very overdone to the point that there were no juices dripping out as I cut through the meat. I wasn't a huge fan of the sides either as the brussel sprouts were still quite bitter even after the balsamic glaze, and I didn't get much nuttiness from the butternut squash. Overall, I like the decor, atmosphere, service, and menu of Copper Kettle, but on this trip the food was a bit of a disappointment. read more

My husband and I visited Copper Kettle while visiting in Dubuque. The service and ambiance were excellent. We were excited to order the broasted chicken. The chicken was so overly browned that we couldn't chew through a lot of coating. We were so sad because the chicken would have been great if not over cooked. read more

We heard great things about this place and made a reservation a day in advance. It was busy, which we were expecting. What we weren't expecting was an indifferent greeting, and then being told it would be a wait to be seated. We were able to sit at the bar while we waited for a table, which took about 20-25 minutes after our original reservation time. From the reviews, it doesn't seem to be a trend, but it felt like there was a lack of organization when we initially came, and the greeting could've been influenced by how hectic it was, but it wasn't the greatest first impression, to say the least. That aside, the two bartenders were outstanding and made up for it. Both were friendly, and the drinks were top-notch and came out quickly. When we were seated at a table and the food arrived, it was easy to see why people rave about the place. Everything we ordered came quickly and was delicious. We had the butternut squash ravioli and the standard burger. Wings and rings as sides. All that said, I'd still recommend placing a reservation. The food is worth it! read more

We have been going to this restaurant for several years and it was wonderful. The last few visits it has not been good. The hostess was rude and the waitress was also not very nice. I ordered a mojito and it had no flavor. I had the scallop risotto which is one of the meals I cannot wait to order but it as awful!!! The scallops were tiny and way overcooked. My husband had the tuna bowl which he also loves but it had an off flavor and was not up to par. This was our last visit to this restaurant. So sad that a once amazing restaurant has given up on service and food. read more

Bad. Used to be a favorite. We were excited to go back to this place after a several months break. Wow, what happened? My wife got the scallops and risotto - she's had it several times and it's been awesome. Tonight she got five scallop the size of a nickel that appeared to have been cooked in a deep fryer and put on top of the risotto. I'm not kidding. They were way overcooked, dried out and chewy. The risotto was extremely salty. She ate about 3 bites of it. I had the ahi tuna bowl. I've had it before and liked it a lot. Tonight the tuna had a VERY strong taste. Ahi should not be strong. I don't think it was anywhere close to being fresh. On top of all of this the hostess was rude and service was mediocre. Sad to see a place we liked a lot not care about their food or their service. If they don't care enough to put out good food and good service anymore I don't care enough to go back. read more

This spot hit the spot with food and drinks and topped off with great service! This was our first inside dining and bar experience since covid and it was such a pleasure. The drinks were on point, and we tried quite a few food options, but the must haves that we will come back for are the burger and the fried chicken. The burger was juicy and just the right size. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and not too greasy. Don't miss the Copper Kettletini, I may have had a few too many of these because they were so refreshing and went down easy. Hubby and I are spending a few days in Dubuque, and tonight we stopped at Copper Kettle for the second time (see Peter D's review for the first). It was good the first time, and we were having a hard time finding other restaurants. For covid info: staff was wearing masks, we were seated inside (no outside seating), and you could choose your table (not busy, so definitely 6 ft apart). Food: we ordered cheese curds for an appetizer - sooooo good. State fair good. The dipping sauce was good too, but we preferred them plain. I ordered the Winter Squash Salad, and hubby ordered the Bacon Bleu Cheese Burger w/White Truffle Parm Fries. We were blown away! Both the salad and the burger were AMAZING! (we share our food, so both of us thought both items were great). The flavors on the salad all went so well together, and so did the ones on the burger, plus you could really taste the meatiness of the burger. The Truffle Fries were good, but I didn't really eat them - too focused on the burger and salad. Service: our waitress was good. She kept our waters full (which can be tough since I'm part camel), and she was very attentive. Over all: would I come back again in my week long stay? Absolutely! read more

My mom says this is one of the best pulled pork sandwiches she's ever had. The coleslaw on it was perfect since it didn't have a lot of creamy mayo. I wish I had gotten something other than the fish tacos. The fish in them wasn't the best quality and tasted pretty gross. I didn't even get through the first taco, but, thankfully, the delicious, loaded Bloody Mary I had filled me up. I'd come back to try something else if we come through Dubuque again. I was in with a group of seven on Friday evening, my mother was sent a drink that needed to be returned, orders went fine. After about 10 min. a salad was served top my mom. We waited another 35-40 minutes for our entree's, OK I get it. Every one was served except for me, as I sat and watched everyone eat their food, I had to get my own drinks from the bar, obviously there was a problem with my food. Yet instead of facing the issue our server decided to ignore the table all together. I was served a salad as every one was finishing their food, by the time my food was served every one was well finished eating. I asked for the food to go and I received 3 -2x2" pieces of fish, literally a tablespoon of coleslaw. I have never been so disappointed in the service that was offered and I will not return or recommend this establishment. The server needs to find another line of work. read more
