One was the sweet potato fries, which were super delicious and the other was their homemade applesauce, which was absolutely amazing. They had lots of sauces on the table to choose from. I really liked the classic barbecue and the Berry one. Everything tasted good. Our waitress was amazing and helped us pick up breakfast spot for the next morning. This place is okay. For a small town, I can tell why it's crowded. But when you compare it to a big city with lots of culinary options, this place would barely survive, likely not. Overall the food was edible but it lacked a smoke ring on things like the brisket. Most of the stuff was just bland. They had this appetizer that they called Thai cauliflower. That was likely a the best thing they had. They also had a soup that was okay, basically a gumbo but that's not what they called it. I don't know why they didn't call it that because that's exactly what it was, all the way down to the okra. It's pretty loud inside. The service is good. Have to say the Cheese Curds here are some of the best I've ever had! Would classify them as "Perfect"! For my meal I had the 3 Meat Sampler. If I were to rank my meat's in order of taste, it would be 1) Pulled Pork 2) Ribs and 3) Brisket. I ordered all three "naked" so I could try each of the seven sauces available. I liked a number of the sauces, but always went back to the Original. All of the meats I tried were good, but I thought that only the pork was what I would consider great. Cute, clean establishment. Waitress was super friendly and willing to give suggestions, as it was our first time there. Very fast service, food was great. Q fries were excellent and gave us an opportunity to try all of the sauces. My pork sandwich was amazing. My daughter loved her tenders and fries, I tried them-they were so good. My friend enjoyed her Cuban. It was great to have all of the sauces available to try and we appreciated our waitress bringing the ones from the back for us to try. The name is honest. The BBQ is indeed bitchin'. In all, I've visited three times in as many years, being from out of state. It has been consistently good every time. Bob's was highly recommended to us. Of course, it is one of the only places cars near our hotel open for dinner on Saturdays. It's a cute restaurant, reminiscent of BBQ joints in Texas. Their menu is nice, with lots of options. The prices are good, too. We were seated right away. Some of the reviews talked about long wait times. It may be that we were early. We arrived at only 4. The server was very nice, chatty, but accommodating. We ordered one Pulled Pork dinner and one Burnt Ends dinner. Each comes with two sides so we got fries, baked beans, slaw, and applesauce. And the meals came out in a very short time. It couldn't have been much more than five minutes. The burnt ends were terrific. The pork was a little too fatty and didn't have a lot of flavor. But they have a variety of barbecue sauces that made it better. The sides were mostly good. The slaw was outstanding. The applesauce (which ended up being our desert, was very nice. It is homemade and a bit chunky - not too sweet - just the way I like it. The fries were tasty but a little undercooked. The two of us were split in the beans. I thought they were flavorful but watery. My wife enjoyed them. They have a root beer on tap which we ordered. $4 for a glass but they do give you one refill. I thought the root beer was outstanding. Ambiance: 4 Food: 3.5 Service: 4.5 They have lots of bob's items for sale. They have hats, t-shirts, caps, sweatshirts, coffee mugs, and more. Although some were really cute, they weren't for us this time. If you are in town, this is probably the best there is. Came to Dodgeville for a wedding and was looking for a dinner spot with a menu that had something for everybody. Had a toddler, a preteen, grandparents, and a not so hungry husband with me. And of course me, I'm always hungry lol. So we needed a lil bit of errthang and this was the spot. A nice sit down place that was casual and family friendly. For appetizers we got the fried pickles. I'm a fan of fried pickles although some people may think it's nasty. But who could go wrong with fried pickles?! It was tasty to me! For my main dish, I ordered the blackened salmon dinner that came with 2 sides (I chose the baked potato and grilled veggies). It was okay, not the best but not the worst. I think the salmon could have used a little bit more seasoning, but it satisfied my hunger for the night so it worked. The portion was pretty good also. My preteen was happy with the kids menu. My family and myself had lunch there today. I ordered the Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich with sweet potato fries. Everything came on plate and my fries became soaked in coleslaw juice. I mentioned this to the server and she just said that I could get coleslaw on the side, no "I'm sorry ", nothing. I feel that the fries should have been on the side. I had the ribs dry and enjoyed trying all of the sauces on the table. My favorite was the Habanero. As for sides, I had the tasty lime coleslaw. It seemed like it had shredded lettuce in it in addition to cabbage which made it easy to eat. The mac and cheese was good but not to rave about. Best cheese curds! Stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon. Found parking on the street. Restaurant was busier for midday than expected. Our waitress was absolutely amazing. My daughter got the bottled cherry cola and loved it. We started with an appetizer of cheese curds. These were the best cheese curds I have ever had in my entire life. Daughter got a pulled pork sandwich with regular fries. She thought it was fine. I got the brisket sandwich dry with fries. I tried all of the sauces and they were all good. I did end up using the habanero which was not extremely spicy french fries were average. We ended with a piece of Keylime pie. The filling itself was very tasteful with yummy whipped cream. When you think of small town Dodgeville Wisconsin... What do you think of?! Honestly... might not be much... It's a small pass through town on your way to Madison. After I went to Bob's Bitchin BBQ with a few friends this is ALL I can talk about when mentioning Dodgeville! I chose to stop here to meet a few friends on a Friday after work. I went early to grab a drink and to sit by the bar while I waited for others to join, as soon as I sat down I was greeted by the locals and was quickly recommended the fried pickles and cheese curds, such a good choice!!! OMG So good! They have such friendly staff, that truly give off that small town feel. Once my friends came in, we sat by the back of the restaurant. Which honestly is one of the better spots to sit, you get to see and SMELL all the delicious BBQ coming out of the kitchen. I ordered their Burnt Ends Sandwich. Which is one of their Nightly Specials. Their Burnt Ends are simply fall off the bone Meat Candy... mouth watering. On the tables they have 4 different homemade sauce types, plus more upon request. Ordered the Brisket/pulled pork sandwich with their vinegar based slaw (they also offer a creamy slaw) and kettle chips. I wanted to try both meats. The sides were spectacular. Definitely made in the restaurant, and both highly recommended. Some real care and effort. The brisket and pulled pork? Better than you might expect in a small town, but not up to standards set by Smoky Jon's in Madison, for example. Clearly neither had come off the smoker this morning. No real bark on the brisket. Both were juicy and not dried out. They were fine. I ordered them naked so I could really judge the meat, and they have six house bbque sauces on the table, which were also very good, and different. None of them super spicy, including the habanero, but all good. Definitely 4 plus star quality. There's not a lot of places to eat in and around this small town, and though American Players Theatre is only about 20 minutes away, it gets tiring driving back and forth and back and forth... so between a couple plays with over 4 hours to kill, this was a good choice since it was only about a mile from the hotel in which I was staying. We got some fried pickles, which are hard to mess up but I've had bad ones. Luckily that wasn't the case here, so the meal started off on a good note. They send ranch dressing along with them. The main meal was burnt ends--I was NOT expecting to find those in Wisconsin, especially this area, since I don't think of Wisconsin as the barbecue capital of the midwest. But they were so delicious, as good as any I've had! These are a daily special, thank goodness, and one I almost missed on the menu so don't make that mistake! If you like brisket, I don't think it's possible you won't like these. With them we got several sauces: Razzberry, original, mango, red pepper, Carolina, and habanero. My favorites were the original and habanero, and probably least favorite was the mango. The raspberry was good, not spicy at all. In fact, none of them were all that spicy, which was a slight disappointment. The habanero was probably the spiciest of them. We got a variety of sides: macaroni & cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, and fries. The baked beans were not great but I had them. I really liked the mac & cheese, and apparently the coleslaw (the lime cilantro version) was really good. I forgot to get a taste before it was all gone! The meal finished up with some of the donut holes. I was beyond full at that point, so I only wanted one; that was ok, because I didn't enjoy them very much. We have always heard that this place is really good, but maybe we went on an off night. The burn ends were really dry, and my smoked turkey sandwich was sliced smoked turkey not like a pulled turkey like one would typically get at a bbq joint. Service was fine. Got us seated right away. We had been at Taliesin and Governor Dodge, and stopped here for an early dinner. I had read the menus before hand, as I am vegetarian and BBQ places are not my go to, lol. But they had a handmade veggie/bean burger and I am here for that. The burger was quite soft but very flavorful and it comes with a delicious spicy aioli sauce on it, with a side of pickles, tomatoes and lettuce. I had a side of grilled veggies - which were great. I chose the yummy mustardy Carolina sauce for my burger and it was SO GOOD. There are 6 sauces sitting on the tables, and they were fun to try. My companion had pulled pork with the sweet potato fries, which apparently it was all super good. I have to say how amazing the server and the cooks were to check on the ingredient list to make sure there was no dairy in the food for my sister. In fact our waitress came out to say that they fry the cheese curds in teh same oil with the fries, as the kitchen staff wanted to make sure that was ok. Which it was, but that is really very top notch service in my book. It was a nice place to go, very clean, cool ambiance, lots of tvs going. OH! And we had a delicious moscato and Bloody Mary. If you love meat, you should love bob's. There is something there for everyone. Including a sauce made from Wisconsin's own 'Spotted cow'!! The bar can make a solid old fashioned as well!! Can't get much more Sconie' than that!! The meats I have had there have always been juicy and tender. Don't worry about being to saucy. You can order them naked and sauce them just the way you like. But what about sides you say???? They have you covered there too! Everything from a vegetable of the day.... Which I, while think is great... I'm much more a meat and potatoes guy. We've been to quite a few different BBQ places all over the midwest so this is what I'm comparing to in terms of good BBQ. Service: fast and friendly. Seated quickly and waitress was super nice and on top of checking on us and making sure our drinks were filled. Drinks: Excellent and inexpensively priced. We had a Blackberry old Fashioned and hubby had a sweet old fashioned. They were both really good, some of the best drinks we've ever had. Meat: Unfortunately, have to agree with other reviewers who know BBQ, the brisket was more like a pot roast type of meat and not your normal sliced brisket. The ribs were fall off the bone style ribs with huge chunks of meat and not super fatty. However, neither had ANY flavor at all by itself. The sauce was necessary otherwise the meal would have been horrible. The BBQ beans were really good, with a sweet and tangy flavor, the home-made kettle chips and home-made french onion were good. Slaw was a creamy vinegar based one. Sauces that we liked were: Original (hickory smoked), the RBQ (very slight Rootbeer taste), BrewBQ (with Spotted Cow), the Carolina (mustard/vinegar based) and Razzberry. Hubby said Habanero wasn't hot. Hubby would give a 3, but I would give a 4 stars (he wasn't crazy on the flavorless meat), but the drinks, the sides and the fall of the bone ribs won me over. I made up the for the lack of smokiness with the sauce. Prices for the area were very reasonable, with the bill coming in at $51 for 2 drinks, 2 meals and 2 cookies. read more

Ordered brisket sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich. They weren't bad. The choices of bbq sauces were a great option. Unfortunately the brisket was so-so. Not a wower! Had better at home. We stopped through on a trip and wanted to try something different. While I appreciate all of the great reviews I think it got my expectations raised a bit too much. We ordered a burnt ends sandwich which was good and flavorful. It went really well with the spicy sauce. We also got a pulled pork sandwich and that went well with the original sauce as well. The Mac and cheese was good, but it felt a bit small in the to go cup. Inside was really nice and clean. They also have outdoor seating where you can have a dog, but ours wasn't wanting to sit in the sun so we ate in the car. Everyone was nice and even though some sauce was missed we went back in and they were happy to give us some to go cups of sauce to try.
