Blackberry Cobbler

If you are looking for a down home cooking, this is the place. The food is really good and our server Tyler was very nice and knowledgeable. The service is quick. They serve you hot bread with butter that is really delicious. This place reminds me of black eyed peas restaurant long time ago. We tried the fried green tomatoes it is good with the avocado ranch and the chicken fried steak with jalapeño ranch, yummy. Even their dessert- blackberry cobbler is good.

Everything was great!!! From food to our waitress. The environment was clean and the seating area was comfortable. It's relaxed and temperature is just right. The wait was not bad at all for a Sunday, it took three minutes to set our table up and got us seated. Our drinks were refilled and we had a nice portions of food, the country fried steak was a hit, but I only ate half. Their gravy is so good, and the mashed potatoes are perfect. I had baked apples for a side too, and that was yummy. We had the fried green tomato's and those were so so good. The mushrooms were a little salty for my taste. Overall, it was a great experience and we will be taking friend and our family back. The general manager was kind enough to greet us. As a business owner, I value our customers and this was just a confirmation to come back for their food and desserts!! Omg the desserts!!! We tried every one of them! My fave was the peach cobble and the mama's butter cake !!

OMG I was seated fine, after that the nightmare began. The person waiting on me and my wife couldn't speak up at all, walked our drinks and lemons over piece by piece (one at a time), I order an appetizer and specified I wanted it before the chicken fried steaks that I ordered, it came out in one hand right in front of the chicken fried steaks. Kids this is why it's important to listen when grown folks are talking... The fried okra was great, the rolls were burning hot, but good. Long story short, speak very clearly here.

This is the Super Combo Fish & Shrimp.

We went this location on Wednesday evening and it was not business however we got good service. Our waiter was serving as busier as well so he had to finish cleaning the table before taking our order. The hostess who seated us took our drink order and by the time our drinks came our waiter took our order. The food arrived in a timely manner. It was fresh and freshly prepared. Everything tasted good and it definitely has the home style feel if that's what you like.,

Wow...I was expecting this place to serve nothing but chicken fried chicken & fried food. I always drive by this place when I visit my parents so decided to drop by on a Saturday afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised to see salmon on the menu, which is great since I'm mostly a pescatarian. They also have flounder & tilapia. I was with my sister and we ordered the 2 for $23. Boy ol boy it came with a lot of food. For $23 we got flounder, salmon, fries, hush puppies, okra, rice, corn, apples and macaroni. We made 4 meals out of this. We also ordered a side of queso which was good. They have a small bar area with TVs so you can catch the game whilst eating. It was a pretty quiet, family friendly place. The service was exceptional and the guy went above and beyond. I'll definitely go back to get another round of salmon if I'm in town. Peace.

We have probably past this place 1000 times and never stopped but today was the day!!!…read more Our waitress Theresa was amazing, he kindness, knowledge of the menu and even upselling upcoming specials was so sweet and non invasive. The food was also amazing. We had the fried pork steak and chicken fried steak with Mac-n-cheese, mashed potatoes, loaded potatoes, and fried okra... all for 29.99 including the drinks. It gets no better than this. Oh and I heard that Wednesdays is all you can eat catfish so you know I am coming back! The restaurant itself was peaceful and had a Saturday morning in the country feel!!!

Daily specials of classic comfort foods, fried catfish, pork chops, barbecue, burgers, rolls (with margarine, I didn't know even know that was still a thing, isn't it bad for us ?) Banana pudding, peach cobbler, which is one of the best cobblers I've ever had. Red and white checkered vinyl tablecloths and booths that have seen a lot of action, this place is unchanged for who knows how long. Okay, as an Italian that loves to cook, I will say this place is catering to its older generation and overly cautious about its use of seasoning., and their paper cost. (We've asked for napkins 3 times now) I don't think they even salt the water for the potatoes or macaroni because both of these sides are blah. The black eyes peas were creamy and good ( and yes, I had to add salt to these too, but thats a given) once I got the salt right, I loved them. The portions were big enough of the fried catfish and the sliced beef that we could have shared one of those entrees, but we both wanted something different. Overall, great place, definitely recommend.

Gave to my sister who rated 9 out of 10 would recommend. Cornbread was like hard day old bread and went into the trash! Bbq platter: BIL loved his plate! Said potato salad was meh but all else good! Hotlinks, ribs, and beans! Sister got fried chicken and added mac&cheese along with yams! Chicken was fresh but not seasoned much! Mac&cheese good for diner menu option, and yams were okay she said! Greasy spoon Mac is better IMO but Granny's oxtails the best I've had here in H-town! Although spicy/hot food is not my favorite I did enjoy them If the cornbread were softer & sweeter I think the rating would be 4! Would I go back? Hmm! Yea for the tails of course! I saw they have catfish & black eyed peas so I may try those next time as well! Overall 3.5 but can't do half stars By default I left it at 4

"Celebrating Mama Bear" 04-18-26…read more My family and I visited Cutten Kitchen together for the first time, and we absolutely loved it. My eldest sister was the one who searched for places to celebrate our mother's birthday, and she definitely picked a winner. She felt like this would have been a restaurant our mom would have truly enjoyed if she were still here on this earth, and she got it right. Let me count the reasons why Mama would have loved this restaurant: the aesthetics, the well-seasoned food, the lively vibe, the soulful energy of the atmosphere, and the wonderful customer service. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the hostess, Victoria, whose professionalism and mannerisms were spot on. She was so friendly and welcoming. She held the door open for us when we entered, and she even held it open again when we left. Our server, Daniella, matched that same level of professionalism. She was not intimidated or nervous by our group at all. She greeted us warmly, introduced herself, and took our drink and appetizer orders with ease and confidence, which let me know she knew exactly what she was doing. She also offered great drink suggestions that we really enjoyed. I do not want to bore you with a long, drawn-out review, so I'll keep this part simple. The atmosphere is welcoming, with music playing at a nice medium volume through the overhead speakers. The dining room is extremely spacious and clean. Food Ratings: Fried Catfish/Shrimp Platter - 4/5 Both were fried to perfection, with nice crunchy edges and a soft, succulent, meaty texture inside. However, it was a bit too salty for my health. Fried Fish and Grits Platter - 5/5 My younger sister said she could taste the authenticity of Black culture in the well-seasoned grits and she enjoyed them. The CK Burger - 5/5 My son said this burger was delicious, and he tore it up too! The CK Patty Melt - 5/5 My eldest sister said it was delicious and felt like it melted in her mouth with every bite. Salmon Bites Appetizer - 5/5 Fried to perfection and surprisingly not too salty. Fried Plain Wings/Lemon Pepper Wings/French Fries - 5/5 Everything was served piping hot and extra crispy. Deviled Eggs Appetizer - 5/5 Everyone around the table loved these babies. My eldest sister said she did not care too much for the fried chicken tender on top, but overall, they were still a hit. Dirty Rice - 1/5 Too salty and too greasy for my liking. It also lacked the authenticity I was hoping for. Mac and Cheese - 5/5 According to my daughter, the mac and cheese was a 5/5. However, it did have a spicy kick, so my son gave it a 4/5. If you like spicy mac and cheese, then you will probably love theirs. Collard Greens - 5/5 This item stole the show for me. The collard greens were delicious, not too salty, and seasoned just right. Here's the shocker: instead of using pork in their collards, they used turkey neck. I was genuinely impressed because a lot of people believe pork is the only way to get that deep, flavorful taste in greens, but Cutten Kitchen proved otherwise. Blueberry Lemon Drop - 5/5 This drink may seem girlie, but it hit like a man. Sitting Sideways Cocktail - 5/5 This one hits just right and gives you a nice little buzz. Pineapple Upside Down Crown - 4/5 It was a little too sweet and did not have enough liquor for me, but it was still delicious after I poured an extra shot of Crown in it. Overall, Cutten Kitchen is an upbeat, lively, and soulful establishment that offers some of the best Southern cuisine in the area. I highly recommend this place if you love authentic soul food, great customer service, and a vibrant atmosphere. FYI: Parking is plentiful, but it would probably be best to make a reservation beforehand. I have heard this place can get packed.

I beg to differ. I ordered the Corn dog, Mac n cheese, fried okra and the honey butter corn bread was complimentary. I had asked for my okra extra crispy and not only did it come mushy, but it was also pretty cold by time it reached the table. The Mac n Cheese was cold and so greasy I couldn't even finish it. As for the corn dog, it was the only thing that showed up hot and it wasn't even cooked all the way through! It was all golden looking on the outside, but mushy on the inside. The service was basically non existent and being busy wasn't the reason. We're going to end this review on a positive note because I truly dislike writing bad reviews, but they are necessary for the sake of honesty. The ONLY reason they're getting the two stars is for the cornbread which was an ooey gooey, honey buttery mouthful of happy and would be the only thing I recommend (of what I had) there. I would have sent everything back had I been able to locate our waitress. I don't recommend this place when there are so many others that are way above them in quality, quantity and cost for what you get.
