First time dining at this new location and I will say they did their thing on the remodel. I came by solo last night for some appetizers and drinks and had to come back for lunch today. I had the lump crab cake, the gumbo and the Caesar salad last night and the wild caught snapper with butternut squash and broccolini today with both meals being paired with a couple tequila lemon drops (recommended and made by the manager, Stephen). No joke, everything I had was a 10 outta 10- no complaints!! The service was top tier! My bartenders Maurice, Taylor and Deja were a great team and kept me satisfied my entire visit. The Saturday night vibe vs the Sunday afternoon vibe is night and day with the church crowd dominating the place on Sunday but both visits left nothing to be desired. The prices were well worth the portions and the quality of food I received and I'll definitely be back to this location whenever I visit. Having the waitress charging at the table is uncouth... My wife hates it, so she just signed the receipt, gave a 20% tip and asked for paper receipt. When it came she noticed we had been CHARGED for an extra meal we had NOT ordered... This angered my wife. This has happened before!! The waitress gave an "Ooops!" apology. Pappadeux is always a winner! Been coming to this location since I was a little girl. We came in for Mother's Day and everything was fresh and hot, not to mention HUGE portions. I had the pleasure of being invited to not one but two events at the same place, one of my favorite places. First event, a valentine's celebration , our party was supposed to start at 3pm but they were late. The manager worked with us and got us a section reserved like a champ. They really worked their magic. We were seated at 430. At this seating, we ordered appetizers of bbq shrimp and a glass of wine. If you haven't tried this dish, try it before it goes away, it is a seasonal item for Mardi Gras. Our next event, a birthday dinner, was just one table away, at 530. They seated our large party on time and service was great. I was able to close out my tab and move over. We had two waiters assisting us. The servers were AMAZING and so patient with us. They recommended so many good things and were very kind. The service overall was excellent. Only giving 4 stars because their complimentary bread is horrible. I'd expect better quality soft bread at a restaurant like this, not bread that you can literally knock someone out with. It was hard as a rock and not easy to cut into. Also I don't recommend the shrimp and crawfish fondue. Unless you love the flavor and aftertaste of crawfish. Didn't realize it would overpower the whole appetizer and had a unique, unappetizing flavor. However I did love and thoroughly enjoy the Crispy Salmon & Jumbo crab. We came to Papadeauxs for our two-year wedding anniversary on a last-minute decision, and overall it was a great experience. When we walked in, it wasn't crowded at all, which was nice. The hostess asked what we were celebrating, which was really thoughtful. I don't think that information made it to our server, so there wasn't anything special like a dessert or acknowledgment later on--but that's also on us, as we didn't bring it up again. Food-wise, everything was solid. I ordered the shrimp bruschetta with the butter sauce and spinach, and it was absolutely top tier. The bread was delicious as well. This was my first visit to this location. It's just like the others so no need to explain there. My server was a young man that was nice as he took our orders. Now when he asked if we wanted garlic bread, I was under the impression that he meant the regular bread that usually comes out to the table. Well that was not what he was referring to. So this was also my first time having their garlic bread and although I was a bit upset with the misunderstanding, it was really good. Especially with the melted cheese on it. He definitely put me on. I believe it was only $2-$3 during the lunch time that we were there. But now I might have to get this again. I also ordered their Mardi Gras Pasta as it was one of his favored recommendations over the Gumbo. And once again, this young man put me on. It was definitely delicious and blew my expectations. I was actually very disappointed. We wanted a booth or a window table, but we were advised that they could only be secured if we made a reservation. We were placed in a crammed area by a pillar. Later I asked someone sitting by the window did they make a reservation they stated no they just asked to be placed there, so the host lied. Alexis was our waiter, she was serving so many tables we had to continually wait long until her return. We had got the seafood platter to share with a substitute for the stuffed shrimps and oysters & few additional sides. They messed up our order. Only the baked potatoes come out piping hot everything else was lukewarm/cold. They didn't do the substitutes and brought out broccolini out cold. When we brought it to their attention they were apologetic, they did take the broccolini back and bring the exact same broccolini back out because the piece I bit was still on top front and center. We were not charged for the broccolini. The potatoes were good, the fried catfish was good. The hot sauce they had was really good. Was lucky enough to receive a gift card from a friend to the Pappas restaurants, and we wanted to visit Pappadeaux since we both like that cuisine but hadn't had visited for over 15 years..... We're both so happy and glad we did this afternoon and lucked out by having James as our server. Most restaurants are pretty much like one another but not this location. James made our visit special by showing us a supreme level of respect, attention and appreciation for the two of us joining them for lunch today. He genuinely made us feel appreciated for our business and it showed by treating us like family or a good friend, and that's very special! The decor & ambience was relaxed and the food was made with love - for a large chain restaurant, that's not something we expected but the kitchen team put effort and care with our dishes. We had the blackened salmon Caesar salad and the Blackened Catfish Opelousas with a generous amount of grilled shrimp, plump oysters and lump crab meat in that amazing sauce. Went for a quick dinner after work on a trip to Houston. Was quickly greeted when I sat at the bar. Jeffrey was friendly and answered all my questions! Made the best passion fruit lemon drop. The shrimp and crawfish fondeaux was fantastic, huge portions and way more than enough for one person; I was expecting much smaller. Was too full to really eat anything else so Jeffrey helped me out with the dessert menu and I landed on a piece of Key-lime pie which came out with all the fresh fruits and tasted amazing. First point in their favor is the fact that they serve a nice crusty, almost a baguette, type of roll and don't shove more sourdough under my nose. Let's put it out there right up front... Breaking apart that bread, you will make a mess because the crumbs will go everywhere, so expect it and just smile when it happens. We both ordered the shrimp cocktail to start and it was a generous amount of shrimp; just one warning that the shredded horseradish on top of the cocktail sauce provides you with a decision to make on whether you want it mild in which case you remove it, or spicy in which case you mix it in. For entree Mr. Picky ordered the lunch size fried shrimp which was plenty for him, even after I stole one. I liked the light crunch and the fact that there was no heavy breading to fight one's way through. I ordered pasta with grilled shrimp and crawfish, and thought it good enough to have the bread that comes with it absorb and sop up the juices. I think I'm seeing sliced garlic here and love that. The entire dish is a flavor bomb. I wouldn't want it any spicier, this level is great. As for dessert, we split the cheesecake and chocolate toffee brownie with vanilla ice-cream. Hard to choose a favorite, but I will say this ... I'm so fed up paying top dollar for a tiny sliver of cheesecake, and here at Pappadeaux there was no apology for a hugely massive and satisfying piece. Just saying. Pappadeaux is a Houston staple for seafood that has a Creole/ Cajun take. This Pappadeaux isn't located in the best part of town but it's probably one of the better food options over here. Parking is easy in their lot but I would park in a high traffic area as again, not the best part of town. Service was good and they were quite busy. We got charboiled oysters, and fried calamari for appetizers. The calamari plate also had some fried artichoke and everything tasted well battered and well cooked. The oysters were a bit of a letdown; they tasted like a plate of lazily reheated oysters/ premade breading/ sauce on top. I was not a fan of their breading/ sauce on top so I took it off to eat the oyster standalone. For my main, I got the redfish pontchartrain. The last time I came to a Pappadeaux, this dish was maybe $30, so inflation definitely did wonders on the menu. The redfish was cooked well and was moist with a light topping of lump blue crab. The dirty rice wasn't bad either considering this isn't Lafayette. Overall a solid option for the area and I enjoyed the meal and fell into a nap shortly afterwards. read more

We were seated and about 15 minutes later we got our menu's. . . . another 15 minutes later our order was taken. Waitress stated that the hot bread was on the way. We waited for at least 90 minutes to get our food and I would watch people walk in . . . place there order. . . eat there meal. . . and leave and we were still waiting for food. The bar area is huge with plenty of lighting and tv monitors. Food: 4/5 The food is very good and tasty here. You'll definitely enjoy it, however it's a bit pricey, so be prepared to spend at least 200 bucks for two. Appetizers: Crab and Spinach Dip 5/5- Hands Down the best crab and spinach dip I've ever tasted in my life. It was very flavorful and paired nicely with the Parmesan crostini toast. Shrimp and Crawfish Fondeaux 3/5 Flavorless and too soupy for my liking. I've had much better tasting Fondeaux and this is not it. Fried Seafood Platter: 4/5 This meal consists of shrimp, catfish, oysters, stuffed crab, stuffed shrimp, and one side. Everything was fried beautifully and to perfection except for the oysters. They were soggy. I absolutely despise soggy oysters. If I wanted raw oysters I would have asked for raw oysters. I like my oysters fried crispy and fully cooked. Aside from the soggy oysters, it was a great tasting meal. The fried fish and shrimp were flavorful and not too salty. However, the stuffed crab and stuffed shrimp were a bit too salty for my liking but very flavorful. I enjoyed this meal with a side salad consisting of only lettuce and sliced cucumbers, which were very fresh and bright green. I appreciate the fact that they served me fresh lettuce instead of old withered lettuce or dried-out stale cucumbers. The salad was on point. 5/5 stars. Atlantic Salmon Alexander: 4/5 This dish was experienced by one of my older sons who said that it was very delicious and flavorful. However, the dirty rice was too hard as if it was undercooked. He had no complaints about the salmon, crawfish, shrimp, or the scallops. It was his first time trying scallops and he was impressed with the texture and flavor. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal and the sauce that was drizzled on top of the salmon was rich and flavorful. He said that it would have been a perfect 5 out of 5, if the rice would have been properly cooked. Pasta Mardi Gras: 5/5 This dish was devoured by my youngest son, the Navy man! He had no complaints whatsoever about this meal and didn't leave one speck of food behind. Full of flavor and the pasta was the perfect consistency of readiness, not too hard and not mushy, but perfectly cooked. Rainbow Trout & Shrimp: 5/5 This dish was enjoyable to my husband who constantly raved about the flavor and texture of the fish and shrimp. He said that the fish was not overcooked or undercooked and felt as if it melted in his mouth with each bite. Although he would have preferred whipped mashed potatoes with this meal, he thoroughly enjoyed the truffle potatoes that's accompanied with this dish. Green beans: 1/5 My husband said they were too hard and almost made him choke when a piece of the green bean became stuck in his throat. So, not a good experience with those. They need to cook them a little longer because they were presented beautifully but that's where it all ends. They were just too hard to digest. Drink: Patron Perfect Margarita- 3/5 It tastes good but I could not taste the alcohol. It did nothing for me. For a $17 cocktail I should be able to taste the liquor or feel it creeping up on me or something. I had a very lovely time with my family at this establishment. It was my son's choice to visit Pappadeaux's before returning back to the Navy base in San Diego where he's currently stationed and of course my family and I are always ready to accommodate him. The service was just okay, nothing spectacular. Our server was a young gentleman named Gabriel. He was not very attentive during our visit but he was polite and respectful. The place was pretty busy and it's a large restaurant so I can understand why he was not attentive. He probably had plenty of other tables to wait. Parking is plentiful so no problem there. Although they're expensive, you'll get your money's worth at least. So, with that being said, I don't mind paying their prices because it's absolutely worth it. The food is delicious and I would definitely visit them again as I've always done in the past. So, the overall experience was a good one. 4 out of 5 stars. It's a great establishment.
