HRW menu Potato Soup
Mike M.

I visited Saltgrass to celebrate Houston Restaurant Weeks for dinner. From the $39 HRW four course dinner menu I chose fried mushrooms to start then potato soup followed by blackened redfish with a loaded added baked potato and chocolate cake for dessert. Yes it was a lot of food. Saltgrass always provides complimentary bread and butter which arrived first and it was warm and delicious while waiting on the first course. The fried mushrooms were served with ranch dressing and tasted good. It was plenty for two to share. I really liked the potato soup as it was rich and flavorful with cheese and green onions on top. I loved it. The entree looked good but the redfish was barely warm and the shrimp on top were hot. I guess they let the filet sit for too long before serving. Other than the shrimp also on top was some crab meat, tomatoes, green onions and lemon butter. Taste wise it was good but I wish the redfish was warmer. Also the baked potato was loaded, hot and tasted very good. This course had a lot of food on it. Finally the chocolate cake with chocolate syrup and a scoop of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream arrived. This cake slice was the tallest that I have ever been served. It was so tall, I had to use a spoon to keep it propped up or it would have fallen over. This slice was massive and enough cake for 3 people. Taste wise it as very chocolatey in taste, fresh and satisfying to eat but I could only finish a little more than 1/3 if it. Why do they serve it that big? Finally the table service was very prompt. All in all this was a good tasting and very filling meal. My only complaint was the redfish temperature. Saltgrass is a reliable restaurant to come to for a good tasting and affordable meal.

Had to share that Saltgrass is always solid, I've heard is middle tier and all that but even when you order to-go it is a solid steak. You're not going to get your A5 wagu and tomahawks but if you want some Texas themed apps and a good steak this is the place. Never disappoints

We came here for a business lunch a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. I had a reservation for 11:45 but was able to get seated 20 minutes early, which was nice. Our server was Milton had he did a fine job at taking care of us. As for the food, it was solid. My salmon made for a nice lunch, and everyone else enjoyed their meals too. We will be back at some point for lunch again!

Saltgrass has been a tried and true after event restaurant for my family and we all pretty much enjoy it the food is always amazing the staff and ambiance has been super friendly and the whole restaurant is great. We definitely will be back for another event I hope to grab better photos before diving in and not be starving next time I go so I can remember.

Never again, we had a party of 16, we called ahead to advise that we would have a big party, we were told that we would be sitting in a long table. When we arrived we were told that we had to wait for the table to be ready as they needed to find the tables to sit us all. We waiting roughly 30-40 minutes to be seated. When we were sat we had two separate tables so we brought it to their attention that our group would like to be seated together as it was a family gathering. We were then moved to a separate room and sat, the waiter had an extreme attitude and made it difficult when we told her that we were ready to order because we couldn't order our main plates and starters. Once she returned to take our order she had a military style. She was wanted answers right away and got irritated when someone didn't answer quickly. I ordered the Cattleman's prime rib cooked medium rare. When I received my plate the meat was almost gray in color and was not medium, the meat was also dry. I tried to eat it as best as I could but decided to not continue the attempt. When the waiter returned she asked if we would be needing to go plates I responded no and she gave me an ugly look. The next issue arose when she was taking note of who would be paying together. We were asked several times to confirm the information. One of the people in my group paid with tap, when he paid he decided against leaving a tip due to her attitude the entire time we were there and the waiter then called him back and asked "you not going to tip?" Then another party in our group was handed an incorrect receipt with a different amount, when he brought it to her attention she told him that was his and that she was not going to argue with him and continued to speak negatively to the rest of the group this the resulted in us having to ask for a manager. When the manager arrived we were informed that there was an unpaid check, we had all paid and showed him that we had all been charged. The only issue was that a recipe showed a different amount and he would not sign it as that was also not his card information. He then returned and advised us that was correct and apologized for the mistake. Our party attempted to be super cordial with her but made it difficult with her attitude.

The Saltgrass Steakhouse Restaurant has a really nice property with plenty of street parking in the lot surrounding the restaurant. You can get good look at the moon walking into the restaurant which is nice to see. The hosts a greeters are very helpful and took us to a nice corner seat of 4. The spot was cozy and comfortable. Out server wasgreat and very attentive. The bread as always was phenomenal as well as the main entree which included a 16 oz steak ribeye with mashed potatoes and a house salad. My steak was mixed up with my partners steak so we just switched them with each other and enjoyed the amazing steaks. The sweet tea was excellent as well as the bread they bring you. Overall it was a great family meal and totally worth going to.

It was a simple Thursday and sometimes by that time of the week customer service is mediocre. It goes our experience as a Rewards member of Landry's. When we finished fighting with the door because I'm in a wheelchair and got to the reception desk. Two young ladies were carrying on a conversation as if we weren't standing in front of them. When they finished the conversation we were acknowledged and asked, " how many"? It was only my daughter and I standing in front of them. We were told to follow the young lady and she seated us. As we both sat down immediately my daughter who had just left a manager's training class said, they need a training in customer service. We were greeted by our waitress for the evening named Tabitha. I told her I was a rewards member and gave her my phone and stated please let me know before you use the rewards because the last time the guy used without asking. Her response was, "I can't believe that" but I apologize for that ". Keep that in mind because it will matter later in the review of mediocre and not excellent. Later we were greeted by manager Tyler and he welcomed me as Rewards member and stated if there was anything he could do be sure and let him know. I stated yes the brussel sprouts were charred too much and he stated no problem we will take care of that. He asked if I wanted to use my rewards and I said no I don't think so. Tabitha brought the corrected Brussel sprouts to the table and we continued our meal. A very nice young lady as if I wanted to have her box my meal and I agreed. That was good service. But when I get the check why was the Rewards already USED. I thought Tabitha said earlier I can't believe that happened and yet it happened again. So it must be the custom to use at the discretion of the restaurant and not the Rewards member. It's just a training issue I assume or maybe management has changed. As we were leaving two managers were standing nearby and Tyler nor the GM helped open the door. It's not a custom because I have frequently gone to this location and they have helped with the door for myself and other patrons in wheelchairs. Mediocre at best. Service just needs to be taken up a notch.

Rarely do I eat red meat or crave a steak, but my recent trip to Saltgrass Steak House may have changed all of that for me! My partner and I decided to stop by Saltgrass on the way home from running some errands, and, boy, am I glad we did. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Monday night, but we were seated right away. It only took a few moments before our waiter introduced himself and took our drink order. The service was spectacular all night - very responsive and speedy. The ambiance was very inviting and fitting for a Texas steakhouse with big game covering the walls and country music playing overhead. Our steaks were cooked to perfection! My picky partner admitted that Saltgrass had cooked his rare steak just right. Great cuts of meat prepared perfectly and paired with delicious sides. The presentation of my baked potato was a little lacking, but I did ask for everything on the side. The brussel sprouts were an unexpected favorite of the evening - sweet and cooked to a soft yet supple texture. From the bread to the last bite, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Saltgrass Steak House!

Shrimp and artichoke pasta

I had the shrimp and artichoke pasta, which was amazing! Our server was very attractive and helpful with recommendations.

I'm not even a steak person -- I usually order chicken -- but I actually ate a good amount and really enjoyed it. We ordered the sweet potato soufflé, mac & cheese, and corn. Everything was equally good. The sweet potato soufflé was smooth, creamy, buttery, and perfectly seasoned. The mac & cheese was rich with nicely toasted breadcrumbs, and the corn was solid. Only disappointment was the rolls. They weren't bad, just nothing special. Texas Roadhouse still has the best rolls . Service was top tier, and overall Steak 48 absolutely delivered. It rivals Little Alley Steak in ATL, which says a lot coming from me. Great birthday dinner.

From the moment we walked in, they were welcoming and friendly, the server patiently explained their highlights and recommendations. It's clear the restaurant is very intentional about their food choices. The manager even wrote a personalized birthday card for me and gave us a follow up call the next day to check in on our experience which was very kind of them. In regards to the food, it was delicious but we didn't find it exceptional enough to justify the high price point. The meal started off with complimentary bread service that you could choose with sea salt or garlic parmesan topping. The bread was so fluffy, warm, and comforting. We ordered the Braised Pork Belly, which was surprisingly tender and juicy, and the sauce complimented it very well. We ordered the regular size bone-in KC Strip to share. It was a huge portion and they give you extremely hot plates so that the steak stays warm and sizzly on your plate once you eat it. We were pretty impressed by how juicy and tender it was. The corn creme brulee and Boursin cheese whipped potatoes we had as sides were great complements to the dish. At the end of our meal, they treated us with a complimentary Cookies and Cream Popcorn Sundae which was super unique and really delicious. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant if you're willing to ball out and celebrate for a special night.

I also added some of their house-made habanero curry hot sauce, which is absolutely delicious. I'll definitely have to try a few other dishes next time! Located in Midtown this cute spot offers good music, fine food, and great ambiance. The mood is set with a soundtrack of classic hits playing in the background, and let's not forget about that bathroom, it's wild! I mean, I got a whole "duolingo" French lesson (the language of love) while washing my hands! Things like that definitely set this place apart from the rest. I was greeted warmly from the second I stepped in the door! While I waited for my party to arrive I sat at their bar area and ordered a Pineapple Mule served with a smile. Right off the bat I connected with James , one of the waitstaff who also happened to be serving our table. He was so the BEST! Hands down the most awesome waitstaff I've ever met. He made our time there special. I felt like I've known him for years, and he knew just how to connect with each person in our group! We all fell in love with him instantly! Tonight (likely due to the Valentine's Day crowd) the meal was pre-set for every guest. This meal included bread, salad, and Collette steak in their special sauce, with fries. There were dessert options as well, from which I chose a key lime pie. And an assortment of after dinner coffees. What blew my mind was that they came around and offered more food to us after finishing our first entree plate! I wasn't expecting that, and was pleasantly surprised. Parking for this location sits right behind the restaurant, a parking garage that is free. Because of the number of shops and restaurants around (an especially since this was Valentines weekend) parking can be at a premium during certain points of the day, so think about that when coming. There is also street parking available too. Seating for Medium Rare is offered both inside and outside (patio). The price average for this place is moderate, and folks can dress up or down. It is a beautiful place for a girls night out, date night, celebrations, brunch, etc! I had a wonderful time here! An amazing experience for sure. P.S. they give you Bazooka gum at the end of your meal! That brought back good memories for sure! This was my first time coming, and it won't be my last. This place is definitely worth checking out!
