Finally coming back around to post this review after eating here for dinner on Valentine's Day... to start, we shared our entrees and both had okay flavor but were quite heavy with oil and butter (the level that makes you feel gross after just a couple bites). We also didn't like the bread pudding. Later that evening my husband started to have a stomachache from the oiliness. About 24 hours later, we both were very sick, to the point that we went to urgent care where they administered an IV and some meds to my husband, and ultimately said it was food poisoning. First time here and I was a bit confused as if I should sit myself or walk to the counter. No real direction. I walked to the counter and asked to be sitted at the bar. The restaurant is a decent size with a full bar. After being seated service was fast and productive. I ordered almost everything on the menu. Chicken and shrimp gumbo, fried alligator and tomatoes. I can say you get your money's worth here. Prices are fair. I will say the flavor is there for the gumbo but the roux doesn't give gumbo flavor to me. The fries alligator had great flavor. Delicious! Five Star Can't wait to go back. We have gone as a group (six people) two times now and we plan to come back again. Staff is professional and courteous. Atmosphere is great. Customer vibe is happy and satisfied. I've never had better chicken fried chicken anywhere else. It was PERFECTION. I will order this again! The mashed potatoes, carrots, and broccoli were the perfect compliment. I was smart and also placed an order to go to try the shrimp gumbo. I will also order this again. The gumbo is EXCELLENT! Two people in our party ordered the catfish Poboy and the pecan crusted chicken salad. They said their food was superb and will order those items again. By the look of those two items they are now on my list of things to try there. Two thumbs up for the restrooms too. Besides your dine in experience, go ahead and place an order to go so you will have that next dinner, lunch, late night snack, or the comfort food we all need occasionally. It's been over 12 years since I last visited here so I returned for lunch earlier this week. There is plenty of parking available in this retail center. Inside it's a counter service restaurant that also features a separated full bar area. They use to have a shrimp Alfredo penne pasta dish on the menu that I liked but no more. I went with the Stuffed Fish entree for $16 and it took almost 15 minutes before the food came out. It consisted of baked fish that's stuffed with homemade boudin and topped with crawfish, spinach and mushrooms all covered in a cream sauce. It was actually very good tasting and filling. All of the ingredients came together for an enjoyable meal and I would order it again. I probably need to come back here more often. read more

This has been one of the worst food experiences ever... When we walked to the table we saw a family leaving with the table full of food and I told the kids I guess they didn't like it. We order Shrimp Po-Boys, Shrimp Lafayette, Stuffed Fish, Blacken Tilapia and fried green Tomatoes. The tomatoes were a mush in the inside almost like a green slime. The stuffed fish had a cream on it had curd. The shrimp pasta had a taste as if the shrimp were freezer burned. The Shrimp on the po-boy we're cold. The stuffed fish was returned for a po-boy and the shrimp on it was cold as well. We needed up leaving the food on the table as well. read more

This place has very tasty seafood with lots of options for non-spicy dishes. (I don't eat spicy food) The portions are reasonable and they give a military discount. I had the salmon with dirty rice and added some hush puppies and everything was quite delicious. I was with a group of friends and my spouse and everyone seemed to like their food. The sweet tea was OK but not too sweet. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer, but they bring the food to your table. I would definitely eat here again when we're in Houston. read more

We ran across a promotion from Boudreaux's about a Birthday Celebration, where the Seafood Platter was $9.99, and it convinced our family to go for sure! There used to be a location near Bunker Hill and I-10, and we were sad to see that they closed and was replaced by Chuy's, so this location is definitely the closest one to us. Boudreaux's offers good homestyle Southern cooking when it comes to cajun food and makes you feel like your in the South/New Orleans area. I do have to say, the ambiance and decor does make you feel like it's a Southern restaurant, which is a pretty good vibe. Staff were nice and friendly, the food was actually decent as well! I would've given it a 5, but I'm giving them a generous 4 because all of us had stomach issues/a "3" because we believed our stuffed shrimp from the Seafood platter was raw (definitely felt chewy when eating it...) We woudl come back again, but not for the stuffed shrimp, so if you're reading this, don't get it or you will risk yourself for getting food poisoning! read more

The catfish was under seasoned but the dirty rice with the crawfish etouffe was seasoned great and the taste was sure Cajun which made me glad that I have some left to take home. I had eaten at this Boudreaux's off and on, for a while. I don't enjoy it very much now that new management has taken over. They don't allow you to get alcoholic bevs to-go anymore. Worst of all, new management doesn't offer veteran's discounts anymore. It was only several weeks ago that I presented my drivers license and a photo of my Honorable Discharge certificate from the U.S. Navy and they gave me 10% off. Last weekend, Luis told me my credentials were no longer valid. He blamed it on New Management. You can't qualify for a military burial without that certificate. There wasn't better proof that could be provided. Any restaurant I've been to that offers vets discounts has honored those credentials. This Boudreaux's is the first that did not. It was a humiliating experience for me. Babin's, Landry's and Pappadeaux, across the freeway, honor my credentials as a veteran. I prefer to give my business to restaurants who honor my 12-year service and will do so from now on. read more

Solid four stars. I really like how the manager is on the floor, greeting clients. Maybe he was the owner. It was nice to see a manager so engaged with his restaurant. You can tell he really takes pride in what he does and he makes sure everyone is taken care of. Wish I would have gotten his name. Food: cajun pasta was pretty good. The sausage tastes a little old and kind of hard lol. Like an old summer sausage hahah. It was good tho. The garlic bread with cheese was really good. The overall flavor of the pasta was good. The real winner here is the boudain balls. My god! Those things are super tasty. Got a nice little kick to them! *oddly enough you order at the counter and you pick up your own food yet they have a spot on the receipt for a tip. I don't know what has happened to Boudreaux's Willowbrook location but it was terrible. It used to be great with delicious and flavorable food with large portions. We took some friends there to dinner last night and it was embarrassing how bad it was. No flavor, small portions, poor service. The ladies working at the counter got basic order wrong and communication was difficult due to them not speaking English very well. Plus, I was clear about my shrimp allergy and it has never ever been a problem when I eat there. But there was an obvious cross contamination because I had an allergic reaction and almost had to go to the hospital. It was also really hot in there so I think the a/c was not working. I'm so disappointed because I used to love going there. I will have to find another place to buy my Thanksgiving fried turkey this year. read more

Came here for a birthday dinner, the service was great. We ordered a lot of food. Including boudain balls, fried pickles, and many entrees. I have to say some of the food was alittle underwhelming. I really enjoyed the fried pickles and the fish bienville. HoweveR the dirty rice that came with the fish bienville was very salty. The boudain balls were pretty good but did not have much flavor. Lastly, the gumbo, I love gumbo and this one was packed with lots of meat and vegetables but the flavor was not there, you could fix it up with alittle hot sauce though. Now let me say the food was good. However it was cold! I ordered two pc fish a shrimp, kids meal and a hurricane to go. My hotel was 2 minutes away and I made it there 5 minutes after my order was placed and it was ready. Yes way too fast. Now was it seasoned yes. Was the portions good, yes. However it was like Warm. I prefer hot fresh food. Not for that's been under the heater waiting for a order to be place. So I would I go back yes to that location, no.
