1/14/18 A disaster from the word go. We got there at about 8 pm after a long night of swimming. The food online looked great, but now I question if they photo shopped them. We were sat at a table within 10 minutes. Not bad for as busy as it was. One of the managers sat us, asked what we wanted to drink and said the server would be right with us. Well, we waited....and waited....and waited. Finally the manager brought our beverages, and she said she would send the server to take our orders (again). And we waited...and waited...and waited. During this wait, the table next to us began complaining about their food. They had ordered chips and queso and salsa, and received chips that were soggy and limp. The customer actually torn them in front of one of the other managers. Mind you we are still waiting for food. We still haven't seen a server. The manager walks over to us again and I ask her if they are having problems tonight. She assures us that everything is ok. I told her we still haven't seen a server, and I jokingly say, "Is she dead". She then says that the server has had an accident. Wow. So she takes our order. I am by now getting nervous about this whole deal. We wait so long, that finally I see her again and tell her we are going to leave. With the complaints, customers leaving because they are being sat at tables with food still under them on the floor, and our food not in sight yet, I tell her I am not willing to play russian roulette with the outcome here. She begs us to stay and says she will make sure everything is fine with our meal. Truthfully, I felt bad for her. We stayed despite our better judgement, and mostly because my son was ready to code and chew on the wood chairs. He was so hungry by now, he just didn't want to go somewhere else and wait any longer. So, she quickly comes back with our soups. One chicken and dumplings I ordered, and one chicken tortilla that my husband ordered. I took one spoon of the soup and handed it off to my son who really needed to eat something by then. The dumplings were complete mush and there was no chicken to be seen. It desperately screamed for salt and pepper, and the best I can say is that it tasted like elders paste with chicken broth. My husband did like the tortilla soup and my son tasted it and like it too. So we finished the soups and now waited for the entrees. Mind you we still had not seen a server, our drinks had been empty now for some time. And here come a man with a tray. He served us our order. I had the 6oz. sirloin medium rare with steamed veggies and a side of green beans and broccoli rice casserole, my son had the baja fish tacos, and my husband had the fish and chips. The server placed our food and asked if we wanted refills on our drinks, and went off to get them. Within a couple minutes another server, comes over and asked us if we needed beverage refills, and we told her someone had already asked and was taking care of it. She was the server that was now taking us on. She asked how our food was. I told her my steak was a little over, and that my steamed veggies had not come yet. She went to take care of it. The broccoli rice casserole, while tasty, was underdone and the rice was a little more than hard. When the steamed veggies arrive, they were cooked well, but had absolutely no seasoning on them at all. Once butter and salt were on them, they were really nicely done. All in all the food was not horrible. It was tasty. The fish tacos were very good, and the fish and chips were also very good. That or we were all really hungry. lol. The server which was now taking care of us was very nice and the restaurant was pretty empty by now. I took the opportunity to ask her what was going on here that everyone seemed to be in the weeds, and the place seemed in chaos. I was told that the entire place had all new managers, and that the company had instituted all new procedures all at once which was bogging down the kitchen, the wait staff, and that the managers were not efficient. I told her, she should be working somewhere else, with her personality, and she replied she had already given notice, and that she had worked her last day the night before, but that they begged her to come in that Sunday to work. This was an unfortunate decision as a location to eat. The restaurant is clearly in turmoil and not making progress. I would stay away from here for quite a while or go on off hours, when the kitchen and wait staff are not chickens with their heads cut off. The food does beg for another shot at it, though I don't think with the quantity of choices in the area, that we will give it another try. They did make it right, and literally charged us $8.35 for the entire bill, and send us off with beverages to go, and even offered a free dessert, which we declined. The busyness of this place is crazy, it's always busy but they always get you seated in a good amount time and the food is okay that's what got them only 4 stars. The atmosphere here is bad it's loud sometimes smells. read more

Had dinner here last night. Ordered fish tacos and they were really good. Service was exceptional. Our waiter Tyler was great!

Really terrible service. We did have a large party (10 people), but it took a long time to even place our orders, then it took forever for our food to come out. All the orders were placed at the same time but they came out sporadically; various family members got their food at wildly different times. Some of us were waiting almost an hour. We asked for more rolls twice and they finally came out way too late. We gave up waiting for them to clear our dishes and finally cleared them ourselves. At the end we asked for boxes and those didn't come until we'd asked three times. Just ridiculous. And we were cold the whole time. read more

We've been eating at this location for a few years now. We ordered food about a month ago. The food was not very good. We called the manager who promised that next time will be better. Well we tried it again on Sunday night. The food was worse than before. It was cold and the order was incorrect. I know we won't be going here anymore and possibly not to any of their locations. I tried to fill out something on their website but it just keeps rejecting it. Maybe they've gotten so bad that they shut down that part of the website. This was our third time here. The first time was good from what I remember, but that was shortly after the restaurant opened. This latest trip was a disappointment. The chicken fried steak was ok but not anything to rave about. The sweet potato fries that we paid extra to get were a ridiculously small portion. The rolls at the beginning of the meal were not warm at all, but actually hard like something a few days old. The only decent thing was the iced tea. We are cotton patch fans, however, we tried using doordash to get our dinner and every time we use doordash Cotton Patch forget something in the order whether it be the Caesar dressing for the Caesar salad whether it be the gravy for your chicken fried steak Weatherby the roles that should come with the meal. With that being said we decided to go ahead and do curbside last night in order from Cotton Patch and everything was pretty good other than they still didn't put the rolls in the bag what... No rolls with your dinner. They have done away with the cornbread which I loved the individual cornbread's oh, now they have this Skillet cornbread, which I have tried but I'm not a fan. With that being said I just hope that Cotton Patch Rockwall will start reviewing their orders to ensure that everything is included in the bag if not people are going to stop ordering from Cotton Patch in go on over to the Cracker Barrel cuz the Cracker Barrel they always include everything and never forget the biscuits. read more

I love their mushrooms.... I get them every time I go in. The one in Rockwall and the one in Ennis are both very good.

We have always enjoyed this restaurant and never complained about poor or bad service but last night my husband walked out. We waited for 10 minutes after being seated for someone to wait on us or even acknowledge our presence. There were several of the wait staff around us and not one even looked our way. Good fried homestyle food. The staff was so friendly and assisted each other. We were seated quickly although they were packed on the weekend. Loved our waiter. Mid afternoon Supper was an enjoyable dining experience! Rolls were warm, soft and fluffy. We both ordered meatloaf, garlic mashed potatoes with green beans, with a nice sized salad also to accompany the meal from the dinner menu. Meatloaf is great here, my companion mentioned not as good as mine, however that I understand. Regrettably I have an occasional food allergy which has been triggered lately to black pepper. I normally have no worries with potatoes or green beans, cook with pepper in both myself sometimes- I noticed it's presence in both dishes. While flavored well and tasty- the heavy presence without adding any I had to stop. Service was very pleasant. A mistake was quickly remedied upon our arrival when Diet Coke was served instead of coke- a request to offer lemon for tea was then prompted and provided. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Ambiance is comfortable as booth or table was suggested and readily available. Deserts look appetizing yet we did not try any today. read more

We've come here several times over the last decade, and the food was always good, but our last trip was the worst service/food I've had. We went in just before 2p for a late lunch, wife ordered a salad and sandwich and I ordered the lunch Chicken Fried Steak (CFS), mashed potatoes, and fried okra, and a side skillet cornbread. The snack rolls came out hot and fresh, and my wife's lunch was fine, the skillet cornbread was cold. Mine was a complete let down. The fried okra was greasy and lukewarm, the gravy was almost cold and if the potatoes were any colder I'd use them as ice cubes in my tea. The CFS was hot and fresh, but the cold gravy just ruined it. I flagged the server down and he went to get a new order. The manager came out with the new plate, no sorry or check to see if it the new order was good, just set it down, grabbed the old one and left. Well the new order was as cold as the first although the fried okra had a pulse this time. I flagged our server down and let him know, and he brought me ANOTHER side of cold potatoes. I was done, asked to see the manager. He brought our check - yep charged us for my wife's order and both iced teas, you know the tea was cold, so it was good. He did stop by twice and asked if the manager ever came over - NOPE. We waited about 10 minutes on the manager, never came over. Apparently the management has no concern of poor quality of food or talking to their customers, and if the kitchen doesn't know their warming tables and food are cold then I'm not risking my health on questionable food safety. read more

Hallelujah, hallelujah!!! Cotton Patch Cafe brought back their fried mushrooms. If you like fried mushrooms they have the very best by far. They are big and not overwhelmed with breading which is light. So very good!! read more

I have eaten at Cotton Patch a hundred times! It's another one of my favorite places. The food is always very consistent. Nothing is of extreme high quality, but it does have that tasty home cooking feel a lot of people are looking for. I love their burgers and tilapia. Their chicken fried steak is okay, but their fried shrimp and chicken fingers have always been tasty. Nothing fancy, but that's not what I'm looking for. Management has always been on par and the wait staff is really pleasant. I will always be a regular. read more

Ok my wife and come in with two sleeping babies in car seats, the hostess had clue what was going on as far where to seat us. On the way to the table a waiter not looking at all and me saying watch out almost knocks my 9 month old out of my hand. When I say something to him he just walks off then turns and ask if I had a problem when he was almost on the other side of restaurant. When we do get to our table the clueless hostess then proceeds to tell us we can not put our twins in the high seats. When my wife ask why she then states she has to get permission from the manager! REALLY!! So my wife just ask if we can get a booth and slide them in. Now that we're are at the booth we wait for EVER to get any type of service. We finally get to order my wife and I both get the chicken fried steak. Boy was that mistake it should have been called children fried shoe leather. Not mention the AC was not on and it was hot. We will not be back and will not recommend this place to any of our friends. read more

Good healthy options which are a high priority. Not bad for a home style restaurant, which is how I would describe Cotton Patch. Wish the baked potatoes weren't slathered in salt on the outside. Sort of ruins a healthy food. Can get good food for good value though. read more

YOU must try the blue cheese wedge salad. It is always fresh, with tomatoes, crisp bacon bits, and blue cheese crumbles. (Ask for extra!) The rolls are hot and fresh. Servers are attentive, plus always make a new pot of decaf for you. We go there about every 7-10 days for our pick me up lunch. read more

Waited over an hour for our food only to have it come out cold! Everything on our plates was ice cold! Beyond frustrated with this establishment! If I could give 0 Stars I would! read more

Awesome lunch! Had the lunch special: smothered steak, blackeye peas, baked squash, and fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. Everything about this place is mediocre at best. Server was inattentive and food was brought out lukewarm. Taste? Nothing worth noting. My wife thought her pilaf probably came out of a box. There's enough other good restaurants in the area that there's no need to come back here. read more

Check their website before you go. My boyfriend and I were in Rockwall last weekend and stopped in for a nice lunch. Our waitress was the best waitress we have ever had! I believe her name was Rainy. She was super friendly and personable and gave excellent suggestions! The food was delicious and came out in a timely fashion. I really like Cotton Patch. The food is very good; however I was really disappointed in the service we received today. Our family went there for my cousin's 18th birthday lunch and there were about 15 of us. We had a brand new server that was very young and struggling to handle his first large party. Not once did I see a manager walking around checking on the status of service and no additional help was assigned to our server. Our server had to bring out half of our orders first and then the 2nd half took a while. I was so surprised that this kid had no help and there was no manager in sight to help make sure he was getting things right since he was so brand new. There were multiple delays and errors made with orders, which caused a damper on our celebratory lunch. Plus, it's the Sunday before Christmas - a very busy time of the year. You'd think the restaurant would be prepared and well-staffed. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I am extremely disappointed. Where is the leadership for this restaurant? Do better read more

Well the waitress was very efficient and nice . The chicken fried steak was a little chewy and was overly breaded. I think the mashed potatoes were not from a box but we're not light or fluffy. The green beans were from a can. I really wanted to like this place but I think they need to try harder. The bread was good but I wasn't sure I could get more. read more

We placed an order through DoorDash. HORRIBLE experience!! Our order was wrong and items were missing. We ordered the butter cake dessert and it was DISGUSTING! The bottom of it was soaked in pickle juice. I called the manager, Glen, and he told me since I placed my order through DoorDash, there was nothing he could do and I had to call DoorDash. Placed an online order and the incompetent ToGo order girl forgot the white gravy for the chicken fried steak. Even though it clearly stated white gravy on the order. However, she gave me some concoction of white gravy mixed with cheese curds to go on the broccoli. Well as physics would have it the cheese curds sank to the bottom of the container by the time I got home. I poured what looked like gravy on my chicken fried steak however to my surprise it wasn't gravy. I called to let them know what happened and she agreed to remake the order. When I asked how long it would take she said, "when we get to it". I said, "how long bc I'm not coming up there to sit". She would not answer me. I asked her again. She would not answer. It was like Ground Hog Day X 5. Finally she transferred me to the manager I can only assume that the question "How long?" was to difficult for her to comprehend. He said they would remake it within 10 minutes. I went back up there to pick up the order the salty ToGO girl picked up the bag and shoved it at me as soon as I walked in w/o say anything. However, she did write "WHiTE Gravy" on the container. I found both acts to be extremely rude. Poor customer service. So sad. She messed up the order in the first place and should not give me attitude for her mistake and when a customer asks you a direct question answer it. read more
