Every time I come to Palestine to visit my grandmother we make sure to come to this location. We have been coming a few times a year ever since the place has opened. Since first opening not much has changed (including the menu). Each time we visit Cotton Patch there is a fresh batch of young high school kids working inside. The menu has a decent selection of relatively healthy foods and larger portions. It doesn't get updated very much but a more recent addition is the Strawberry Pecan Salad which is delicious. Overall the food is mediocre and nothing to brag home about but I typically don't have any complaints about food quality here. The only drawback is with the inexperienced staff. You will have to wait a good while for service and your food, especially during a dinner rush. That isn't a huge surprise with the turnover of high school kids every year. If you do go to this location then you better not be in a hurry. read more

Stopped here on the way to visit some people. Ordered tacos, a couple of versions of their burgers Service is incredibly slow. Had to wait nearly 50 minutes to get the order. That time is not an exaggeration because I looked at the time of the receipt order.as I was gettin ready to get our money back, the server replied, "let me go check." She returns with our order. Yep, the food was lukewarm. So it had been ready for a while. The amazing chicken"three taco plate" of fried chicken were chicken tenders with a glob of their special sauce and pico de Gallo in a bland flour tortilla. For people bragging on a plate so much, this was a really big disappointment. Think Taco Bell quality at a much higher price. The burgers were ok. This is a shame because you want to support small mom and pop shops, but for the quality of food, you could get better at a fast food nearby for equal or slightly better taste, similar quality lesser cost, and a quicker prep time. For small restaurants that say they don't have the space, we've been to smaller restaurants that were busier and turned orders out much quicker. read more

Often seen but I had never stopped in until this meeting. Menu similar to Cracker Barrel to which I tried the blackened catfish served with broccoli and a salad and over a bed of rice. Hubby tried the fish tacos which tortillas were eh but the innards were worth it. Tacos served with "queso" that I think might have had broccoli in it and salsa. Sadly things have truly changed for the worse here. Meatloaf tonight was very small, very black & burned, flavor on unburned bites were simply like meat paste, awful. Baked potato ( extra cost) was the a small spud. Potato, side veg & meat loaf were not even warm. No longer offer fried mushrooms, meat loaf recipe changed & if you want cornbread they offered before for free it is now $6. & considered an appetizer??!! Won't ever enter this chain again. Me and mom went there on a Sat.around 4:30 pm are after that day. When they ran the chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken for 5.00. We could not even get in the door. I know the Restruant Was packed and even over 25%. I know you only can have so many people in there during the covid by the Governer. If you going to run a special like that you should do it for 2 days instead of 1. And mail out coupons. And have your staff. More prepared. read more

My family goes to the Dogwood Festival every year and afterward we go eat at Cotton Patch. On 3/23/2019 however, we showed up and there were six of us. We waited about 5 minutes for a table which wasn't bad, but the waitress assigned to our table seemed bored and uncaring. We did not receive any silverware to butter our rolls, we were told that "the dishwasher was still wrapping them". OK, but when she started serving us our entrees and still no silverware, she actually rolled her eyes at us, so my cousin and I went to discuss with the manager, who was not interested in hearing it. It was our first bad experience here and we will return again on 3/21/2020, let's hope it's much better than last time. read more

Disgusting! We met family ere for dinner on a Friday evening. The place was filthy. Table was dirty and sticky and there was trash all over the floor. While not busy, we had to wait about 10 minutes for staff to put some tables together. Service was horrendous. We waited almost an hour after arrival, for our food. I had the fish and chips. The fish was soggy and greasy, not crisp at all. We also ordered the fried green tomatos, which were the highlight of the meal. We also wanted to order some onion rings, but were told that they were out. They were also out of macaroni and cheese. My family and I are in Palestine quite often. This was my first and last stop at the Cotton Patch. I'm sure the only reason this place stays in business is because dining establishments in the area are in short supply. Save yourself some time and money and go to Whataburger or Dairy Queen! read more

We ate at this location on the evening of Saturday Nov 5th. The waiter appeared to be new. Right off we ordered chips and queso. We received chips and salsa. When the waiter returned to our table we told him we received the wrong appetizer. He corrected the order but the queso that was brought to us was not heated and seemed to straight from the fridge. It was returned and brought back warm from the microwave, as it was burnt and crusty around the bowl. We ordered our dinners and 1 meal (roast beef) of the 3 was brought out to our table 45 minutes after we ordered a20 mins before the other two meals. The waiter apologized stating he was new and had entered the orders wrong. The first meal was completely consume when we got the other two meals (steak and another roast beef). The 2nd roast beef came out ice cold and both roast beef meals were full of fatty meat that was not eaten. As we completed our meals the waiter asked of we'd like desert but I told him I'd like to have the rolls we never got. The waiter was super nice, and very embarrassed about the whole debacle, but never once did anyone come to help him or rectify the training issues. We choose this Resturant based on past experiences at other locations but like will not return to this location again. read more

My wife and I were visiting Palestine from Wisconsin, and our friend brought us here for dinner. Even on Valentine's day, we got seated right away, and our server, Krystal, was great. Very friendly and knew the product well. We started with the chicken fried bacon and the fried mushrooms. Both were outstanding, with generous portions. I had the three cheese bacon burger, my wife had the fried catfish, and our friend had the sirloin steak. Everything was done to perfection. The steak didn't need any sauce, which is how I judge a good steak. I asked for extra pickles with my burger, and they brought a whole sauce cup full of pickles. Everything about this place screams quality, and I'm sure we'll continue to come here often after we move in a few months. read more

While visiting Palestine, TX for an event my husband and I ate at Cotton Patch the first night we were here and the food and the service were so great, we went back the next day!! We loved the Fried Green Tomatoes with the Avocado Ranch Dressing--ordered those both meals. Yum! The Chicken and Dumplings were perfectly homey, delicious. The Green Beans were also very much Southern home-cooking style. Food absolutely delicious, hot and served quickly. That said, our very favorite thing was the outstanding and very friendly service, served by Chris and Kim. They both did a wonderful job!! We'll be back! read more

Stopped in with my family for lunch before our ride on The Polar Express. We were sat at dirty table in the corner of the half empty restaurant by a hostess who seemed to not like her job. She told us that our server would come by to take our drink order. After about 10 minutes the same hostess sat an older couple nearby and took their drink order immediately. After another 5 minutes of no service we got up and left. I got the feeling that the color of our skin had a lot to do with the service or lack of service that we received. I could be wrong and I hope that I am but I will never step foot into another Cotton Patch Cafe. read more

We decided to eat here only because it's one of the few places that has filtered water ( like most places in Palestine. The water is disgusting ). But. This place is so unorganized. The waitresses are all over the place. This is definitely a management problem. The place wasn't busy at all. But orders were getting messed up from left to right. With other customers. Because our waitress ( her second day on the job ) was definitely too busy. We sat down like 20 min before a table of 8 sat beside us and they got their food before we did. It wasn't the waitresses fault. She was awesome. It's managements fault. I talked with the manager about our situation and she did not want to listen to what I was saying. Just hurried up to say. I can give u free dessert. Or free appetizer. Blah blah. I said to her she needs to give this poor waitress some help. She's overworked obviously. And it's only her second day. I mean. The food was good. But our experience could have been a whole lot better. They need change out the management. And give their employees long enough to train instead of throwing them right into the line of fire. So. With that said. Food is good. Waitress was very friendly. Wait time rediculous. This is one of my favorite go-to place when I am in the area. My family loves the fried pickles. The chicken strips are sometimes overcooked, but their Trailblazer hamburger steak is always very good. Service is ok, sometimes slow if they are super busy. Prices are reasonable. read more

Had better service than last visit. Almost didn't come back after the poor service I received in June. The waiter named Josh was not attentive, they weren't super busy, and I had to go to the front to check out since my waiter was too busy flirting and playing around behind the counter and just plain forgot about us the whole time. In all that trip ended up taking 2 hours because of his poor service however last night's service was much better. The waitress didn't forget we existed. It has never been about the food. The food has been great. If they can make sure to keep good waiters I will continue to give them my business. Guess it's a hit and miss. read more

This is a good little family dinner kind of place. We wanted to try something different than the usual King buffet. The food type is home style cooking, chicken fries steak, fried tomatoes, hamburger etc. I had the chicken fried steak, the batter and steak were a good mix, not to much batter and the steak was the right amount. I had corn and macaroni, I will say I was jipped on the corn, which was yummy. Macaroni was macaroni. Tea was decent. We also had fried tomatoes as an appetizer with the avocado ranch sauce which was AMAZING! Reason for 4 stars, it could have been a little cleaner. read more

If I could give no stars, I would.... I read the reviews, but figured we'd give this place a try while we were in town for the Polar Express ride. Omg.... All of our food came cold and came in stages even though they were the same dishes. My two children both ordered cheeseburgers and one came ten minutes before the other. We ordered 2 Cobb salads and the exact thing happened. I had to send my mashed potatoes and meat loaf back and the second round came out just as cold as it did the first time.
