My husband and I walked in to Cotton Patch in Palestine at 8:30 and we were escorted to a table and given menus and nothing more, not even a water order. My husband quickly went to the wash his hands before being seated. He came right back to comment that bathroom was dirty and no paper towels were available to dry his hands. Unfortunately, I was still standing because the seat had food on it and the waiter never came back. Only around four people were eating in the restaurant and based on the look and smell of the place we knew why. We promptly left unnoticed at 8:31 after noticing how dirty the tables were with stains and how dirty the floors were. It even just smelled dirty. Sadly, I could only imagine how dirty the kitchen could be. We love Cotton Patches, but this was really disappointing! Waiter was courteous however it took almost 40 minutes to get food. When it came out it was cold, not even room temperature. My side was delayed as they were making it fresh. After we sent the food back, it was another 20 minutes. They put my side on the plate and again it was cold, refrigerator cold. It tasted like they had scooped out of the fridge. Four of us just enjoyed a late lunch here. We ate every morsel- from salad to burgers to chicken fried steak. It was homemade and really delicious. For dessert we shared a piece of carrot cake. Our waiter was friendly and had a great personality. We will go back for sure. read more

This place could be similar to Cracker Barrel style food selection, and once had a pretty tasty menu...BUT we can't get past "the nasty" of the establishment itself. It smells like "old nursing home cafeteria" upon walking in. Food on floors, dirty tile, needs a remodel for sure. The menu items are the same, but food prep isn't. There has been a noticeable decline in quality. The water isn't filtered--big no-no, so all water, sodas, tea all taste of muddy muck dirt taste. Yuck. Restaurants need to filter here until water conditions improve. Not all Cotten Patch restaurants are like this. Probably just the owner and/or staff. read more

Wait staff were great. Food was better the average. Tried chicken fried bacon. It was good but is something something we probably would not order again. Fried Mac and cheese were good, Fried green tomatoes were average. Chicken fried steak was above average. All in all we would eat there again. read more

I met my folks in Palestine for the Dogwood Festival since I'd been in Dallas on business. This establishment had been recommend to my mom by a friend and after checking the other reviews we gave it a try. We didn't have any service issues except for one delivery of cornbread which required just a reminder to resolve. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and my father loved the all-you-can-eat catfish which is his favorite meal. Quite decent as far as a chain restaurant. read more

We stopped there for lunch today, thought we would check their new location. First, the floor was sticky dirty, you couldn't walk on it without listening to your shoes stick. When we were seated we noticed the entire place needed a good cleaning. The guy came to take our drink orders which we gave him. He left, came back a few minutes later to get a food order and forgot about the drinks. After that was straight, we ordered. Husband had chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans & a salad. I ordered meat loaf, mashed potatoes & gravy & corn. When the food finally came, there were 2 small pieces of meatloaf, so burnt & dried out you couldn't cut it with a fork, no gravy for the cold potatoes and the corn was cold as well. The chicken fried chicken my husband ordered was over cooked and dried out, but he got gravy. When I called the meatloaf to the servers attention he grabbed it out of my hand and just kept walking. our server was great but the food was not. countless times our bacon had been burnt to the point we sent back the fries and didn't eat much of the bacon on the burger we ordered. my salad had brown on the lettuce and I did have to send it back. flies would not leave and kept landing on the food. i've ordered the alfredo many times but this time it was not the same and didn't taste right. it was more dry than usual as if it was sitting there too long. read more

We went to new Cotton Patch building and as soon as we walked in the hostess left and did not come back. We waited 10 minutes and decided to go elsewhere. It is a shame because the old building had excellent greetings when you walked in. Looks like new generation have no customer skills. read more

My family came in the first time ever to eat at a cotton patch cafe wanting to try it . We were seated pretty quick & our server got our drinks & bread & asked if we were ready to order told him just 1 more minute to decide . 15 minutes later I had to get up from our table & walk over to our server who was not paying us any attention and I told him we're ready for you to take our order whenever you are. Another 10 minutes pass and he finally comes to the table to tell us he passed us over to another sever and didn't realize they didn't get over to us . You would expect our order to just be taken then but he just walks away again. Then we expect him to get the other server but no one came over not even him to see if we were taken care of so after sitting for another 10 minutes completely ignored we just got up & walked out . So disappointed! Was really looking forward to trying their food but I don't think we will ever stop into another one to try it again after this place read more

Ordered meatloaf dinner to go. When i got home 10 miles away saw that my cornbread was was missing and the dinner roll was stale. It was 2 in the afternoon when i ordered so i guess i got lunch leftovers . For 12 dollars they should do better it wasn't like they were super busy. Was a little disappointed with this place. While it was moderately busy wait staff weren't over worked yet the service wasn't all that great. The lobby was filthy with trash in the floor. No one bothered to sweep up the mess. Has the strawberry chicken salad. I made my choice solely on the menu photo. Woah! What a let down. The actual entree was less than 1/2 the size of the portion pictured. It was enough food but given the price there should have been more. I came here with my family a couple of weeks ago. Although we did have a large group with us, seating took awhile. I ended up ordering the fried chicken sandwich with potato soup. When I received the soup, I found a apple slice in it. Next when I got my sandwich I noticed as I was eating towards the center of the sandwich it started to get chewy. At this point, my stomach started to hurt and I looked at the center of the sandwich and it was still pink. We notified the waiter and the manager, while they were very concerned they offered me 2 free meal coupons. Although I appreciate their offer, I ended up sick for the next two days after. I've have been here a couple times, and I can definitely say I've enjoyed each meal I've had here. That being sad, I think I've been lucky. Today, eating with 3 co-workers, 2 of their meals came out almost completely wrong, and the other wasn't even put in to the kitchen. Mine on the other hand came out just perfect :) Guess they take extra care of someone ordering their famous fried catfish!!!! Mine came with a great tartar sauce for dipping, French fries, hush puppies, I got steamed veggies and broccoli rice casserole! Sounds like a lot of food doesn't it? Well it damn sure was! UPDATE. Based on my last two trips here, I have to take away a star. I recently had fish and chips made with tilapia for gosh sakes. Greasy and bad! On the other hand, the shrimp are still pretty good. There's a wide range of food choices, and some of them, particularly the salads are excellent. The others, such as burgers, steak, or fried shrimp, are also good. If I just had to rate it on the food, I'd give it four stars, but the real problem is the service is very "spotty". The waitstaff all appear to be high school students, and they just don't seem able to get you in and out quickly for lunch, and they are easily distracted. Management doesn't much seem to care when your lunch takes over 45 minutes to be served. If you have a group for dinner who want a wide variety of choices, and are in no hurry to get seated or get their orders, this is probably one of the best choices for Palestine. The desserts like cobbler are pretty good. Portions are large, and their mashed potatoes and chicken fried steak are really good. It's just that service is a real risk if you're in a hurry. read more

Sometimes your expectations have no way of being met. Tonight eating at Cotton Patch was one of those times. The place wasn't even busy and my waiter was in the weeds the whole time. So much in the weeds in fact that he forgot to take my order . He even asked me if my food hadn't arrived yet and he hadn't even taken my order at this point. If it wasn't for the food I would be giving this place a solid 1 star. If there was a .5 I would have rated my experience a 1.5 stars. I got so upset I made the order to go. And then to add insult to .....I was handed the togo plater with no bag or silver. Very poor way to treat a customer. read more
