I love their chicken fried steak. Fried shrimp is good too. Pork chops are tender, best ever.

We had been very pleased at this restaurant over the last year or so. So when my brother in law came in from Minnesota and wanted chicken fried steak. So I said we could go here as there's are good. So a party of about 12 went. Brother in law got the large portion and I got the small. Well the large was small and mine was tiny. It was about the size of a meat portion of a cheap tv dinner , over cooked and minimal flavor. My sides were squash and broccoli/rice casserole and they were dry like leftovers. Don't know if the reduced size of steaks were due to increased price of meat or short at end of day and vegetables were leftovers but have no desire to go back anytime soon read more

Let me say that love the food but it was a Terrible experience--do not recommend. We walked in and immediately noticed how dirty the place was no booths available as they were dirty. We were seated, but our waitress ignored us completely. After waiting for over 10 minutes without anyone even coming over to take our order or bring drinks, we had enough. We got up and walked out. Complete lack of service and cleanliness. asked for a manager and she wrote my number on her hand and said someone would call us back read more

Upon arrival we were greeted and welcomed in very nicely. I brought my daughter here for her birthday and she was excited that they have fried green tomatoes. We got that as appetizer, and they were fried well and tasteful. She ordered chicken fried steak, with fries and she said it was good, also broccoli, she said it was too smushy. I started my order by asking for the fried fish and shrimp, I was told that they don't have any fish, but they can add more shrimp. I decided to get the pork chop with side of squash and baked sweet potato. When waiter brought out our food, she said the sweet baked potato would take about 6 minutes or do I want another side. I said I will wait for it. We were almost done with our food, and I asked can I get the sweet potato to go, and she they forgot, and they can give me another side, I asked if I could get a side price removed. She asked her manager, and they honored it. I saw other guest getting the basked of rolls and I asked can we get some and is there extra charge. We got it with no charge, so I guess you have to ask for it. The pork chop was a bit too salty, and the squash was too sweet. read more

Walked in and I was a little hesitate. Dining room had the bright cafeteria look to it. Sat down ordered chicken fried steak. I've traveled all over the country and this has been one of these BEST chicken fried steak I have ever had. Mashed potatoes were perfect and green beans perfectly seasoned. Come to find out everything on the menu is made from scratch. Food and service is a 10 out of 10. Oh and you got to try the Dr Pepper chocolate cake. Perfect suggestion from my server Valerie. Whether you're passing through or lost in east texas, this place is a must. Enjoy read more

So we came back to Palestine to take one of my husband's clients to their favorite restaurant, Cotton Patch! We had yet another wonderful experience here! We ordered the fried green tomatoes and added fried mushrooms this time. Oh my goodness! I think the mushrooms are even better than the tomatoes. So very good. This time my husband and I ordered the half cobb salad and cup of soup. He ordered the chicken n dumplins and I ordered the vegetable soup. I also added grilled chicken to my salad. The salad and soup was actually a perfect portion for us and I would definitely order that again. I left nothing behind in that salad bowl. The staff were friendly and sweet just like the last time we were here. read more

Always love the good home cooked meals. Their veggies have great seasoning - get the baked squash! Everyday they have a $9.99 dinner special ie - veggie plate, chicken fried steak, meatloaf- varies by the day. I've never had bad service and they bring out delicious rolls before your entree. It's pretty much a typical sit down restaurant with tables and booths. They do have an overflow room that can accommodate a larger group. read more

Our server got us everything we could've wanted and she even suggested things we wouldn't have thought of. They were out of their sweet butter, so she brought us everything we could use to concoct our own and honestly, it was better that way because we could adjust it to be exactly to our liking. Server was friendly and manager did all he could to make it right. Which honestly, the butter was the only part that was a tiny hurdle. And it ended up being a blessing. We love their pork chops and they are consistently delicious and moist! See y'all again really soon! read more

I love there butter rolls. Good service they ask where we wanted to sit. Had good service.

NOTHING good to say the turkey dinner is good, but there is so much bad here there is no reason to order, or eat from here. terrible service if dining in, wait staff congregate at bar and gab. no drink refills, o desert offered, you might even end up having to go get staff to get your bill :( do NOT order to go. this is palestine's worst to go restaurant. notorious for forgetting things, things you paid for. things you want with your meal, like gravy, your desert, how about the rest of your salad? missing. AND if you call and ask to be called back by management, _IGNORED! don't try to then contact a manager via the webiste-IGNORED there also. and lastly do not order from any food app. like Uber eats or door dash, this place is the number one place in this town that capable of packing a to go right only about 50% of the time. meanwhile you pay for 100% of your order. they have the nerve to NOT ask you what YOU would like if they run out of something. they just think its ok to randomly exchange it??? they would NOT do this with dine in, no way. they would tell the waiter that something is out and then have them ask the customer what they would like to substitute for it, BUT not on to go orders!? crazy stuff like that. so if you are like me and would appreciate your food coming as you ordered and paid for it, DO NOT order from cotton patch in Palestine Texas, if you do, I will absolutely say, told you so! OMG! Hands down one of the best Cotton Patch Cafes I've ever visited! The food was outstanding! Fresh, hot, flavorful and all at a great price. Restaurant was pristine ( including bathrooms) and our servers were knowledgeable and patient (we had two kids in tow). The adults both had the Chuckwagon Chicken...broccoli was steamed to perfect (IYKYK) and the spiced apples were delish. Kids had a cheeseburger and a corn dog; cleaned their plates. Peach cobbler for dessert! We'll be back. Soon! read more

Priscilla needs to improve her customer service skills and to greet customers and not avoid them. Employee off the clock had to call her twice to wait on me. Manager wonderful. To start off we was greeted with kindness by a young man and he bought us to our table then followered by a young woman for our waiteress. our experience with our waitress was great she was very sweet , gave us time to order and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was great we got fried pickles for appetizers and fish and shrimp plate was delicious with sweet tea which was on point. The inside was very welcome loved the hanging light wooding look , very clean in there. It was a great experience would definitely go back. read more

ABSOLUTE SALT PIT! Unfortunately Cotton Patch has not caught on to the trend of a healthier low sodium approach with flavor. They just cover everything with salt like old bar food in the 90s.....Would never return. read more

Just ate here for lunch they have a big option, prices rather high, but the service is good. I got the lunch special for Wednesday, which was the meatloaf and mashed potatoes and green beans. I got a unsweet tea. The meatloaf was not as great look like they just put some ketchup on it and didn't taste too good rather squishy. But they gave us rolls, which is great. We ordered fried pickles for an appetizer they were just fried with not very good flavor. Atmosphere was peaceful. It's very clean good seating. I got the ticket. The unsweet tea is very expensive almost 4 dollars so I'd recommend sticking with the water other than that. Everything else might be OK I'll give it another shot later. read more

Have eaten at this restaurant several times, never a bad experience. Tonight I can't say that. Our food sat under the warmer lights for over 15 minutes. I watched it. Then a young lady, not our server, brought the food and someone else's food to our table. Put the wrong food in front of me. It was loud and if she said what it was I could not hear her. Then asked who had the steak fingers. I said that is what I had. She rudely stated that's what I asked to start with. Did not hear her say anything. The service manager did apologize for us having to experience that. read more

Jake Rendon, fast with our food, very polite, his service was amazing. He's a very good worker.

Do not stop here. We were greeted at the door and seated promptly since there were only 4 tables being served. Place was empty. Took a while for someone to wait on us. Ordered tea, it was colored water. No flavor at all. I ordered the pork chop, which is fantastic in the lufkin location. My guest ordered the chicken fried steak. Once our meal finally came out after a lengthy wait, it was mediocre at best. His meal barely had any gravy and the steak was so thick and tough to chew. The pork chop I ordered was good for the first several bites, then as I got into the center close to the bone, it was raw. The manager stopped by our table to ask how things were. I showed him the undercooked pork. He offered to prepare another one, but we didn't have time to wait as long as it took the first order, so I told him no thanks, I'll just eat the vegetables. His response- I'll have a word with the cook. They didn't bother to remove the uncooked pork from my meal check. Will not return to this restaurant. read more

A dump.we were seated next to bathroom although there were several better tables available. There was a drink spilled all over the floor, people were stepping in it. Asked for a better table which we got but nobody ever came to take our drink or food order. We waited an inordinate amount of time , nobody ever came so we left. There were plenty servers so there is no excuse for this. What a dump, avoid this place. Taco bell is right around the corner, much better than this overpriced joint where they completely ignore you read more

M Don't date your time and certainly my not your money at this location. I usually LOVE cotton patch but oh my gosh what a surprise of a disappointment. Service was slow and only about 5 customers besides us. My steak was supposed to be medium so they took half of it and took forever to bring a new one that was not well done my husband had the filet and what a tuff terrible cut of meat it was. I in good conscience cannot recommend this local establishment And the fried bacon appetizer was horrible and came just moments before our food. M read more

When they were at the old location this was a better place. The employees here are completely unmotivated to do a decent job. The manager camped out at the table next to ours yakking with friends for a good half hour. The "hostess" couldn't be bothered to sit us at a table that wasn't still wet from cleaning. We snagged some napkins from the table next to ours and dried off the table and the menus that were wet from the table. Our waitress Marion S obviously thought we weren't worth more than the meager half assed job she did. From top to bottom, this place sucks. The owner should fire everyone and hire people who want to do the job. I'm done with this place. read more

If "meh" was a restaurant, it would be this. Just meeeeeh to yuuuuuuck. The fried mushroom made me want to gag. Not crispy at all and I swear it had to be canned. Truly gross. I got the duo + 4 shrimp. Basically mediocre blackened tilapia + 4 decent shrimp topped with overly salty crawfish etoufee. It all sits on a bed of mushy rice. One of my sides was black eye peas. I honestly think they just boiled it and added no seasoning. The side of sautéed mushroom was a black pile of poo. The only redeeming items in all this was the 2 measly rolls and the delicious butter cake. That stuff was pure bliss. Just eat elsewhere then stop by here to pick up 1 or 2 or 6 lol of the butter cakes for dessert. Final grade: D- if I don't consider the buttercake and D+if I do. read more

It's been a long time since I have eaten at a Cotton Patch due to poor food. But I was hungry and needed to get something so I stopped. I got seated fast and the order was taken. Chicken fried steak with garlic mashed potatoes and Caesars salad. Sweet tea to drink. Starting with the tea, it was old. Had that tangy old stale taste. The salad was cut and not torn. It was so over dressed that the Romain was flat and wilted with brown edges. You could not pierce the salad with a fork just scoop it up. For the steak. The breading and gravy were great, but when you are given a serrated knife and you can't even cut the steak, the meat should not be served. Almost half of it was so tough you couldn't chew it. So I guess it will be a long time before I ever go to another one. read more

Definitely a surprise! I'm visiting Texas and didn't have anyone to tell me what places were good, so we tried this place out based on the pictures and reviews. We were very much satisfied with the service and the food! Our server was super sweet, Gracie checked on us often and our food was brought out very quickly. The fried green tomatoes and cornbread were fantastic and I was almost full before my salad came out, which was also delicious! If you have a small appetite like me, definitely prepare to have lunch tomorrow. I couldn't think of a reason to not give 5 stars, and Gracie was definitely a major reason for that. Thanks so much! read more

Thank you to the manager for being so understanding & making this right. Outstanding customer service & she was very polite (not seen much post-COVID). We just moved here literally yesterday 9/16/22. We were tired and hungry from the exhausting move. We decided to order online with Cotton Patch. Oh No!!! The brown gravy and butter icing spilled over into the bag and all over the fried green tomatoes. Maggie read more

Just got food delivered and (see photo) yep, that is holes in the bottom of the styrofoam box. I had ordered fried green tomatoes and they clearly put it in the box too hot that it melted it! Oddly enough, the club sandwich and fries I ordered with this were completely cold. A lot of the items I have tried from here just lack seasoning or has too much seasoning, no happy medium. Bread served with dinner is always hard and again, nothing special. I wanted to love this place but unfortunately, this will be my last order. read more

Cotton Patch Cafe in Palestine, Texas has always been serving up good food ! My wife and I decided to go again for dinner, and had a great experience. Do not go here as customer service was terrible. First of all after calling curbside I waited for five minutes before going in and seeing my curbside food sitting on a to go table there waiters were standing around talking. After picking up a to go order I drove home only to find out I was missing a bowl of soup in our order. After calling back they were unapologetic and apathetic towards whether or not they got my order right. I'd recommend any place in Palestine at this point besides here. The Cotton Patch Cafe is a brand new building to replace the old locations building. To be honest they left the good food and the smiling faces at the old location. Inside is quite small and when you talk to the staff it echos. It's annoying and loud in there now. We went there to see the new place and enjoy some of the food we always liked. It wasn't the same. The waitress we had even said it's too small and none of the other staff liked the new place. It seemed hot to me like the ac wasn't on. The food was so-so, not as good as before. read more

This was probably one of the worst restaurant experiences that I've had. We stopped here with 4 kids and 3 adults at 4pm on a Friday for dinner. The restaurant was not busy yet it took well over an hour to get our food. And they didn't bring out rolls for over 45 minutes. All 4 toddlers ordered Mac and cheese and these came out 15 minutes after the adults' food. We rarely seen our waiter and couldn't get drink refills. While we were there, two other tables even walked out after waiting to long for their food. Honestly, I wish we would have done the same. When the food arrived, my husband's chicken tenders were raw and he couldn't eat them. read more

Stopped in with family. Took awhile for anyone to seat us although there were 4-5 workers standing there, we didn't get a greeting or anything. Just stood there unsure of if there was a host/ess or not. Kids meals weren't offered their dessert and when we asked they were out. They were also out of kids menus and all soda. I ended up trying Tajin chicken strips and whoever came up with that idea should be fired. Probably the nastiest combination on earth, but it's what I ordered so not their fault. Servers were good which is the majority of the 2 stars. read more

Cotton Patch had really gone down before they built their new building, but I was hoping with all the changes things would improve. Not So!!! The wait staff has definitely not improved very unprofessional. I think they need to clean house and train a whole new crew. They definitely need new cooks who really know what they are doing. We had raw grilled chicken again today. I guess it going to take someone getting really ill from the meat not being properly cooked for the owners to finally wake up. Don't waste your money on this place. It's sad to say but your better off at a fast food joint at least the food is cooked and it taste better. The Health Dept. should be checking these people out. read more
