This is a great little local find- small tiny town and we found this restaurant for lunch after doing some blueberry picking. The inside has a great vibe- love the way it's decorated. The menu is quite extensive, maybe a little too much but it seems they do a good job. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. This place was very accomodating to the kids- they brought out paper and crayons for the kids and even added some fruit to their kids plates and brought an extra since they were splitting. Their fries are homemade and hand cut- they might need to be fried a little longer because some were soft or perhaps cut smaller but they were good. They make their sauces, dressings, soups, etc from scratch. My mom said even the salad croutons seemed to be homemade. I tried the tomato soup but next time i want to try the french onion. There's really a lot of things i want to try! I got the appetizer crab cakes- they needed a little something, some more flavor, salt, seasoning or something in my foodie opinion but they were good overall. I think there's a lot of things on the menu to explore to find out favorites. We will definitely be back and definitely recommend! read more

I have to start this review with the dessert first. Cinnamon roll bread pudding is a delight to the senses. Truly delightful with a light texture and a great combinations of flavors bringing a wonderful finish to my meal. I had excellent service. My coffee cup never went empty. I love the look of this restaurant with beautiful bay windows overlooking the town. There is even a porch with umbrellas also overlooking the town. I had the frittata. It was made perfectly with fresh vegetables. The side of fresh fruit, crisp bacon were all presented well. I'm having the cinnamon roll bread pudding for dessert. read more

What an amazing find! This was our first visit and it definitely won't be our last! The food was AMAZING, the service was fantastic (thank you, Melissa!), and the atmosphere was super cool. I got the chicken fried steak and it was arguably the best I have ever had...and I'm a CFS snob! It was seasoned well and perfectly crispy on the outside, and the meat was tender and definitely fresh and cooked to perfection. The skin-on mashed potatoes were buttery and creamy and equally as good. The Hub had the prime rib hash topped with beautiful eggs and he cleaned his plate! But...the dessert...just...WOW!! We had the fried banana pudding and it was not only beautiful in appearance, it was like Heaven in each bite. A friend told me to try this place years ago. We just never go that (Edom) direction. My mistake, boy was I wrong for not taking such a small detour. Bet I won't make that mistake again. My wife and I had Chicken fried steaks, great flavor and never picked up my knife, cut it with a fork. Green beans were fresh and well seasoned, fresh mashed red potatoes with real butter floating on top. My wife had a crisp side salad, I had a Caesar salad with shaved Parmesan and capers, very tasty. Somebody in that kitchen cared about my meal and the products they put on my table. Bravo!!! read more

This place is a true log cabin and so cute. They have front porch dining as well. I have been here twice lately and the food is delicious! They have a quite a large menu with a great variety. Melissa our server was excellent! I highly recommend the chicken fried steak with the best mashed potatoes ever (and they don't skimp on the butter - yum!) What an amazing restaurant in small town Edom, Tx. We have stopped in before and enjoyed their unusual meat loaf and chopped steak. This time we tried their chicken fried steak and chicken piccata. My husband is picky about chicken fried steak and his first comment was "seasoned and cooked perfectly " best he has had in a long time. He also had the mashed potatoes, salad. The gravy on the steak was well seasoned and consistency was just right. My chicken piccata was wonderful... ponded thin with a great crust, lemon season sauce was just perfect. I also had their side rice which I really enjoyed. After all this food we decided to overindulge and get dessert. Husband got the cinnamon roll bread pudding , which he savored to the last bite. I had their "banana pudding fried pie", which husband had to assist in eating the last few bites. Oh my, I think it was one of the most unusual desserts I have had the pleasure of enjoying. It's hard to describe this amazing artwork. Think fried pie with banana pudding (with bananas) filling topped with nuts and an almost like heath bar crunch! Several sweet antique and collectibles shops, and a renowned plant nursery and gift joint that people flock to (Blue Moon.) Chef Michael helms this rustic place, which gets more charming as more people fill the space. The menu is kind of a surprise and has something for everyone: a dead solid perfect chicken fried steak (for me), lovely bistro French onion soup and Caesar for my bro in law, and a truly terrific plate of bruschetta with grilled eggplant, served on a lively bed of arugula and cherry toms and a splendid balsamic.
