Recommend: Curious about 'Texas sides rolls'?? ** Read BACKSTORY IN PHOTOS!** Absolutely wonderful little spot for a meal. Eclectic, uniquely designed FROM the original farmhouse wood planks inside, walls adorned with farming tools, music overhead and the ceiling and walls look LIKE your eating in a farmhouse. Charles and his wife Janine have made an outstanding, tasty place to eat on the side of I-20! We had the fried catfish, baked potato and cooked veggies; all perfectly done!!

Road-tripping from Irving to Longview, this spot is the perfect halfway pit stop. They hype up their pies, but let me tell you, it's the warm rolls that deserve the fame! These babies come out piping hot and fluffy... but with "butter spread" instead of real butter. My heart may have cracked a bit, but add some honey and salt to that spread? mild redemption! (come on Serve REAL butter for these beauties!!) Not in the mood for a full-on feast, I hit the "lighter appetites" menu (a.k.a., a kids' menu in disguise). I went for the chicken tenders with a side of sweet potato, and that potato? Cooked to absolute perfection and served with a cinnamon honey "butter"--another home run! Hubbs went for the fried catfish special, which came with carrot salad, mac and cheese, and two tiny hushpuppies. The mac and cheese? Think toddler-level bland, but the rest was fine (didn't taste the fish, but it looked decent). The pies in the case? They looked good, but... maybe not "fresh that day" good, so we skipped them--even that towering lemon meringue. Service was solid, bathrooms were clean, and all in all? Worth the stop for those rolls alone. Just... someone get this place some real butter, please!

Cozy local spot with great service -- mixed food experience, but worth a visit I stopped by this family-style restaurant on a Saturday afternoon after noticing it while walking near a truck stop. The location is convenient, with easy parking, and the place was pretty full -- clearly popular with locals. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, and the staff were genuinely polite and welcoming. The whole experience felt homey and relaxed. I ordered a T-bone steak (medium), and while the doneness was perfect, the flavor didn't really impress me -- I'd personally rate it 3/5. The mashed potatoes and sauce were very good, and the grilled vegetables were nice, though limited (only eggplant). Presentation was fine, but I expected a bit more variety and creativity. My friend, on the other hand, had the liver (which he rated 5/5) and the pork chops (4/5). He was very satisfied and said everything tasted great. If I had judged the place solely based on my own dish, I would have given it 3 stars. But seeing how much my friend enjoyed his meal -- and considering the friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and fair prices -- it's clear that they do a good job with many of their dishes. So overall, I think a fair rating is 4 stars.

I really wanted to love this restaurant but I felt it didn't live up to its hype. Dinner was so so(not good enough to go back). Our waitress seemed exceptionally distracted. I showed up and friends were already seated and took a very long time to even get a drink. I think the owner?at cash register said the waitress was brand brand new and unfortunately it showed. Now I got pie to go and I will say I liked it but my friend was disappointed in hers. If I were to go back when I hit Soulman's around the corner I would stop to only get the pie!

Fried squash, grapefruit sized fresh dinner rolls, and delicious sweet tea! We stopped for lunch while driving down I-20 and were pleasantly surprised at this down-home Grandma's house style food. Everything was delicious. We were full and didn't order pie, but the meringue pies were heaping and looked amazing too (several Southern flavors like buttermilk, chocolate cream, coconut cream). Service was friendly and quick too!

Their ginormous rolls they give you for free!

The drinks are never short on alcohol but what made our experience really stand out was the exceptional service. Our server, Lindsey, was incredible! It was a busy Friday night and she had, what I thought, were too many tables. Despite how packed it was, Lindsey kept our drinks full, remembered every extra request while also staying friendly and upbeat the entire time with all her tables. We could actually hear the others talking about how great she was and how she was "killin it and didn't miss a thing". We're definitely going back for more of their amazing shrimp, crawfish and drinks--and hope we are lucky enough to have the great service we had last time.

We got seated immediately and our drink and food orders were taken right away. We settled in and caught up a bit, then four out of the five orders were delivered to our table. Then we waited and our server assured us that it was going to be out shortly. Come to find out, the order was never placed with the rest of the table and the birthday lady had to wait another 15 minutes for chicken fajitas?!?! Wow, not a word from management, so needless to say we were very disappointed and the festive mood was ruined. They did not offer to comp her lunch. After another 15 minute wait it was packaged togo with a disgruntled manager giving a 50% discount on the fajitas. The manager never came to the table to apologize, the birthday lady had to go talk to the manager to ask for a discount for her meal. What is wrong with the management? Tias, figure out who your manager is that needs to be retrained.

But she ended up bringing us some. Then we were charged for chips and salsa plus a cup of queso. Quite pricey together. And we didn't actually receive the salsa. But it was happy hour so both were discounted somewhat. And note the chips are fried flour tortillas not corn tortilla chips. They are good but just not what we expected. We would definitely try this place again. We just will know not to order queso. Or chips. Update: we went back and it looks like they changed the menu to include a separate listing for chips and queso. Still too pricey but at least it's less confusing.

The sandwich was great... nicely good meat, perfectly topped with all the things... he liked his pastrami, too... it was yummy! The hand cut chips were god, but some were all stuck together so maybe they could shake the basket mid cook. The fries were a bit disappointing because last week they were crisp and tasty.. this visit they were limp - probably didn't do a second fry. Again, I had an old fashioned and again it was good, but would be so much better with less ice or one big cube. It was lunch hour and the place was so full they put a party out on the patio. We're really happy to have such a good solid eatery here in quitman.
