I was fortunate enough to visit this place with our car club after driving around the area today. Rustic decor with outstanding food. There were a LOT of selections to choose from, and now that we've had the Great White pizza, there's about a dozen other things on the menu I can't wait to try. The crust was excellent, white sauce garlic and ricotta and white meat chicken. This morning I had breakfast at The Forge for the first time. I ordered the cosmic Mushroom. That was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten! We have eaten dinner at The Forge many times. Came here to celebrate a birthday. We had 7 in our party and I'm leaving a 3 star! It is for the food and the service. For the price, really a 2-3 star. Albeit, only one waitress left by the time it came to order, but drinks ran dry and melted down. ( and flies) One of the kids ordered a pizza one way and on the other side a different flavor. (1/2 &1/2) Mind you, the cost is 18$ for a large pizza. This one they tagged for $33. That's ONE PIZZA with 2 different flavors. I would not mind so much, but the food wasn't even that great. It was fair. And then, they add a $6 non-cash adjustment. Really? I felt like they ripped us off and never thought a thing about it. Out for a Sunday drive and found this place. Cool, vintage and eclectic diner in an old blacksmith shop. Indoor and outdoor seating. Full bar you can sit and eat at. A little bit of everything on menu. One thing I loved was fresh flowers in every table. Not small ones either. Food was good. Not a fan of the chips but not a deal breaker. Our experience here today was extremely disappointing, especially because we had previously been told by our waitress that reservations were not accepted. We completely understood that policy and had no issue with it. However, when we came in today, we were told that the only seating available for our group was on the patio because the inside tables were reserved. We politely explained that we could not sit outside because we have 5-month-old twins. Instead of offering any reasonable alternative or simply explaining the situation, the bartender responded with an incredibly rude attitude and said, "Next time, call for a reservation for a table of 10." When we tried to ask a question, she literally turned her back on us and walked away. The lack of professionalism and basic customer service was unbelievable. We were polite, understanding, and simply trying to figure out our options. There was absolutely no reason for us to be treated that way. For someone representing a restaurant, that kind of attitude is unacceptable. Needless to say, after this experience, we will not be returning and will be taking our business elsewhere. My wife and I think their pizza is the best anywhere around. I'm a low carb guy because of some pre-diabetic issues & their cauliflower crust pizza is spot on topped with pepperoni,, jalapeño & onion. My wife like the spinach, artichoke and pepperoni. One our favorite restaurants. read more

Third time here, first time having dinner, drinks and watching live entertainment. Recommend getting reservations if there is live music playing. We just got lucky and were standing in the right place at the right time and were able to take advantage of a no-show. Apparently, reservations had filled up by 11 am on this particular Saturday. It could have been due to the rumor that rising country star Travis Bolt was coming to hang out with friends!!!! Entertainment was awesome and fun! For dinner we had a Greek salad, Caesar salad and 18" pizza. The food was really good. The pizza crust was perfectly cooked and the salads were fresh. This used to be a place I looked forward to going to. I ordered the gobbler. It's came out with cheap stale bread, some cheap slices of turkey plopped on it (not layered- I needed to reassemble it) cold cheddar cheese and COLD old bacon . Honestly I could barely eat it and I paid $15 for it so I hated to waste it. I could do better going to Wal mart and eating from the deli. I was very very disappointed. I've ordered the same thing before and been impressed. Never again. My friend said it was awful the weekend before but I decided to give them a chance. Should have listened. I'd give subway more credit than here now- something must have happened since I was there before. :( read more

It's ok for what it is. The service was very good, and professional. Ambiance is rustic and fun. Not some placed I'd dress to the nine's for. Biker attire is more appropriate lol. The food was ok at best. Probably best to stick with burgers or pizza. One of us had the brisket which was not great. it was mushy, didn't taste smoked, and didn't have any fat on it? We walked out today! We go there all the time and were there 2 days ago. Today we decided on a glass of wine with our meal and the same waitress that saw us 2 days before asked for my drivers license ( I'm 68) she did this last time we were in there. We live down the street and eat there often. I controlled myself the first time but tonight did it for me. We're regular customers and at our age we should have some respect. We have lived in Ben Wheeler for 4 years now and really want to like this place. Everytime we try to give this place a chance, its nothing but disappointment from the service. Today was no different. Went to the June Bug festival and then here to eat. We (qty 4) opted to sit on the porch and were the 2nd table to sit outside. We sat there with our menus watching other larger parties come and sit down after us while we were waiting for our waitress to say hi. Well, that never happened. Three waitresses walked past us several times and took drink orders and food orders for the other "larger" groups that showed up after we had already been seated and ready to order. The final straw was the last waitress that walked out and looked at our table and the larger group table and walked to them and completely ignored us and began taking their orders. Crazy thing is that our table was right next to the door so she had to walk past us to get to the other "larger" group table. We handed our menus back and walked across the street to THE MOORE STORE. They greeted us immediately with a smile and asked us our drink order. The waitress was extremely nice and such a treat after the crap service (or lack there of) that we received across the street at the forge. We always love THE MOORE STORE and what they stand for. Another failure for the forge and at this point, I dont think its ever going to be worth trying again. My wife loves Eggs Benedict and she didn't care for hers. She thought the sauce was sour but the waitress said that was the way they made it. My wife didn't eat hers. The waitress asked if she wanted something else (which she didn't) but that was good. I'd have to agree with my wife. I tasted the Hollandaise Sauce as well and it was not good. Wow we were in town visiting for trade days and thought we would drive to Tyler and ended up finding this place in Ben Wheeler. If you ask people in the area where to go for dinner, they all reply, The Forge. I came in a bit early for dinner, on a Sunday and was told to take a seat wherever. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered the Anvil. The description says it is a smoked tenderloin with caramelized onions, pepperjack, and creole mustard. The sandwich I got was pretty good, but it didn't really match up to the description. First off, it didn't have any mustard, which I asked the waitress for. She brought it to me and said the sandwich didn't look like it was supposed to. She offered to take it back, but as I had eaten a few bites and it was pretty good I declined. The mustard did give it more flavor. It definitely didn't taste smoked, and it wasn't as tender as I would expect a tenderloin. The cheese was pretty nonexistent but there were onions. It was an OK sandwich. The homemade chips were good and the restaurant was cute. They had a really nice patio, but it was just too dang hot to enjoy. read more

Friends brought a group out to The Forge for a friends/family dinner. They told us there was live music and great food. They were telling us nothing less than the truth! The service was amazing, from order taking all the way to delivery of food and drinks! This place was a full house and still delivered exceptional service and food. We had drinks, chips and salsa along with a bunch of pizzas. Every pizza was cooked to perfection with an ample amount of toppings. It's been a long time since I've been to a place that can hold their own when they have a full house. This place did not disappoint and is so worth the drive. The live music was great and not too loud. You could still hold a conversation at the table. I highly recommend anyone to make the trip here and enjoy! I will definitely be returning. I really really want to love this place! it's absolutely adorable, with the best outdoor area to enjoy. The menu looks absolutely amazing and creative. I have dined here a handful of times. I am always pleased with a pizza and Greek salad, to which I do recommend. Today three of us had breakfast, unfortunately, not one of us was pleased with the meal. I found the entire meal to be absolutely drowning in oil. I chose a vegetarian meal opting out of the egg, and the plate came out gorgeous, swimmingly gorgeous in oil. It could have been outstanding if a little more care had been taken with the oil. My friend chose the Lumberjack and had the same complaint. The biscuits were oily as were the pancakes. read more

Went out on a limb and found this bout 45 minutes away from home It was a pretty busy hot summer day it took a bit to get service and our drink order as we looked over the menu I went with a sandwich but substitute for a wrap the wrap was plenty in size though it lacked flavor and the lettuce was a great amount though the meat was not and it was not very flavorful I even added extra honey mustard which was a pretty bland honey mustard the fries were good and hot though I asked for them to be extra crispy and failed my wife's loaded fries were soggy and cold and the refill on drinks took until I was almost done with my meal Overall they just need better help and to pay better attention read more

My wife and I had lunch here today leaving disappointed. We waited for 15 minutes for someone to take our order then she apologized saying she wasn't going to charge us for our tea and salad. Then our entree showed up of fish and chips which was very well done and not good. We have eaten here three times in the last six weeks with 1 great meal and 2 not so good! This American restaurant is a kid friendly spot to eat in Ben Wheeler, Texas. There's great outdoor dining for kids to play. The food is pretty good, especially the pizza. Their wait and bar staff was very also extremely friendly especially given we came right before a rain shower and they had to deliver it in the rain.
