Chicken fried steak, fries and fried okra
    Teri G.

As promised, I'm on a road trip that's dedicated to finding perfectly prepared and fried catfish and hushpuppies. And this is one of them. In one word, my sister in law described the hushpuppies... "superb" & when it comes to hushpuppies, she knows her stuff! Well seasoned with the right amount of spice, crunchy on the outside and luscious inside. Yum! The catfish was "clean" lightly "cornmealed" with just enough to stick, crispy outside, delectable inside. What more could you wish for? Loved the fresh broccoli, and the yellow squash is a slightly sweet compote of light breading, onions and too yummy for this girls diet. Hubby urged me to try his fried chicken breast tenders. "I know you don't like white meat, because it's tough and dry, but you have to take a bite of this" He was so right, and helped him polish off his generous serving. Portions were generous, well prepared, good quality and service was delightful. I'll be back!

    Strawberry Pecan Salad w/chicken breast

Not bad. This is my second visit, and it was better than the first. I ordered the strawberry pecan salad, and it was just ok. Very few strawberries on it for the price. There was a lot of bitter lettuces in it too. The service was good, and no issues with splitting the check. The restaurant was clean & our table was nice. I'll return in the future, but I think I'll try a different meal.

ORDER - Mozzarella Cheese Sticks - Chicken Fried Chicken - Rice and Broccoli Casserole - French Fries Mozzarella Cheese Sticks bring me back to my childhood. The outside is crispy and the cheese is stringy and melted. It was served with marinara sauce and ranch. Both the sauces tasted good and the Mozzarella Cheese The Chicken Fried Chicken was crunchy, but overall I would say the flavor of the chicken itself was pretty bland. I got jalapeno gravy which added a little kick and made the chicken slightly better. The rice and broccoli casserole tasted good and was well-flavored. The french fries were a little on the soggy side. I will note that the ranch tastes good though. Overall the food is pretty average (if not below average :(( ) VIBES There is plenty of seating available and most everything is wood to give some type of country vibe. There were a lot of families there as well. The atmosphere isn't too loud, but I will note something that was noticeable was that the tables, menus, and chairs all kind of felt sticky. SERVICE It took a while to be greeted at the front, especially with a noticeable party (we had 9 people crowded at the door) making the front area very crowded as more people poured in. It kind of seemed like we were being ignored despite the seated area not being very full. When seated, our waitress was very sweet; however, I will say that it took very very long for our water and drinks to be refilled. Additionally, the food took a really long time to come out.

5 stars - super friendly staff and great fried food. Good shopping area with everything you could need.

They were clearly understaffed, and the wait times were very long even though the restaurant wasn't busy. The staff themselves were sweet and polite, and I want to give them credit for being kind despite the situation. However, the food was very underwhelming. It just wasn't good, especially considering how long we waited. The quality didn't match the time or the expectation. Overall, while the service staff were nice, the slow service and disappointing food made this a place I wouldn't return to.

Anyway, we told the hostess we were fine with sitting on the patio and she sat us at a table to her left. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. We had selected our drinks, appetizers and entrees, and still after 15 minutes NO ONE had come to our table or even acknowledged us. My husband went to the hostess stand to ask if we had a server but she was inside for a long time while he waited, and waited and waited. Popped in on a whim after shopping at Old Navy a few doors down. VIBE: Very pleasant seafood restaurant vibe. I didn't feel like I was inside a massive shopping center -- it had a nice seaside charm. At the same time, it was very welcoming and unpretentious. Casual, not at all stuffy in any way. MENU/FOOD: Great! Ample diversity. Whether you want to stuff your face full of fried food or eat healthy, they've got it. I had the Omega Bowl (salmon + rice + veggies) and it was delicious. We also shared the coconut shrimp -- really good. I almost forgot -- my kid's burger came with French fries and they were great -- I stole most of them. KIDS: At first, it didn't seem like a particularly kid-friendly spot (I didn't actually see any other kids there during brunch on a Sunday). However, we felt very welcome with our two toddlers (3.5 and 1.5). They have high chairs and a kids menu (a mix of fried seafood and usual stuff like hamburger). Additionally, both our waitress and the manager (who were extremely kind and understanding) both mentioned having kids as well. SERVICE: Excellent. Our waitress (Sarah, I believe) was very nice and attentive. The manager stopped by to see how we were doing -- also very nice. The hostess? I'll let you guess... also very nice. Even held the door for me when I was leaving since I had a small baby stroller (believe it or not, that's somewhat rare).

I arrived for tacos on a weekend, but the taco stand was closed, and instead I got to choose between Chinese, Indian, or vegan Indian, so I got butter chicken and diarrhea. It was a cultural experience--made more so because I think we were the only American born people among the crowd, save for the owner/bartender and the band. But that's alright--cultural diversity made it more interesting. Of course, in such a crowded social place, it also made it hard to find people to talk to. Either way, I'd happily return if it had some more food truck options with some better food. These choices gave me gut problems for having stopped in. I see the vision. This place could be five stars if only there were more to choose from. But, the city is growing out on 29, so with urban density will come more people, and I suspect down the road this place will be an icon. But, please, get some Texan food, you know? Consistent taco trucks, Tex-Mex, BBQ, etc. That's what I want in a food truck park in Texas.
