Gets the job done...efficiently but not always quickly. Try to go on a weekday if possible to avoid the weekend rush.

Be prepared to wait an hour or more. Zero sense of urgency here. They really take their sweet time just like the auto center. DMV vibes.

Great prices on frames and we also had a good experience with the in-house optometrist.

The tech (didn't get her name) was also very nice and friendly. I wanted to give a 5 star review to Jeanette who helped me pick out my new glasses this time! She is the best! From the moment I walked in to when I left she was amazing! Very informative and honest while being so cool and fun to talk to. She's patient and doesn't try to rush you just to make a sale which is refreshing and calming. I hope she's here every time I have to come back! :) thank you for making it a great experience!

Full disclose, this review is regarding my experience only ordering glasses, no optometrist visit…read more TLDR: I got what I needed, but will keep looking for a different place for my family's needs. My toddler daughter needed glasses and we already had a prescription from her pediatric Ophthalmologist. I was searching for a place closer to home that carried toddler frames, because the recommendations from her pediatric Ophthalmologist at the Dohney eye institute in Pasadena were all in SGV. I called New Vision specifically asking about frames for my 20-month old and after being satisfied with their answers, made an appointment. However, their selection was disappointing and they didn't have the strap-on toddler frames, as I was told on the phone. I went with the only viable option reluctantly because I wanted to get the glasses and didn't want to waste more time. I gave them the prescription (in paper form) and they had trouble with their scanner so told me they'd give it back to me when we picked up the glasses. I asked if my daughter needed to be present, and they said yes. When glasses were ready, they texted me at 3:48 Friday asking me to make an appointment, and said they were closing at 4:15 and reopened on Monday. Had I been notified even a couple hours earlier, I could have rearranged my schedule instead of waiting until Monday. So that was disappointing. Finally when picking them up, my daughter tried them on but they didn't really do anything else so not sure why my daughter needed to be present or why I needed to make an appointment. And they also didn't have the paper prescription that I had been promised. The person giving me the glasses made zero effort and just told me how easy it is to request it again from the ophthalmologist office. I obviously know this. This just underscored to me that things aren't communicated properly about patient requests.

They always work with me to find the most comfortable brand of toric contact lenses, as well as a prescription for glasses. (I buy my glasses and contacts online, so I can't speak to their optician services.) As I've gotten older, now I also have farsightedness and diabetes. I mention that because not only do they continue correcting my vision accurately, with progressives, but they have a Nikon Optos retinal camera. That means that I don't have to go to a separate ophthalmologist for diabetic retinal imaging. I go once a year. It takes 30 to 40 minutes. Dr. Monji, Dr. Ichiuji, and their son Dr. Brett Monji are a good team. Kathie and Tanisha have been there for ages, and they remember me. Everything gets done as it's supposed to. Then I come back the next year.

I had to use my old glasses from another optometrist to be able to read. Additionally, I brought my own frames which had a loose screw. They replaced the screw but used a long screw that it stuck out the other end. Lastly, my old optometrist gave away a free case when you bring in just your glasses. Monji didn't even bother to offer a case. I'm going back to my old optometrist.

It seems like they have a wonderful selection of glasses here. The main stand out is Dr. Ferrucci - she is so kind, great at her job, and genuinely seems like she loves giving people the best experience at Toluca Lake Optometric Center. I really enjoyed her energy and awesome attitude. I like the set up of this spot - even when it was a little crowded, it didn't seem overwhelming and small like my last go-to eye spot. The attiudes of the front desk receptionists are really caring and sweet too, which speaks volumes. They seem like they all enjoy working together which is cool energy to be around as well. They have state of the art machines to test your vision and make sure your eyes are in good health condition and when you're asked how you're doing - they seem to authentically care. The reason I am giving them 4 stars is because they don't answer the phone most of the time and they text you letting you know they will call you back and unfortunately they don't. I understand this is because they're busy but you are lead to believe that they will call you back. You will have to call a few times. The second reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was quoted a different price for my contacts the first time vs the second time. Meaning at the store I was told it would be *this price* and then when I called to pay the next day, I was told it was *this price*. I was also told that shipping would be a less amount of time then quoted so it does seem like there's a messaging mis-alignment but that's okay- will improve over time. This is my choice for best optometric center in Los Angeles. :) So happy to have found this place!

On this visit, I wanted to get a standard checkup covered by my insurance and an adjustment to my glasses. Several things went wrong with the visit - first, when I scheduled over the phone weeks ago, it was for a Wednesday, but then a week before the appointment, I got a text confirming a Thursday appointment, which was inconvenient. When I asked about it, I was told that someone had already called me about the date change, which I don't recall ever getting. I had to move things around to still make it work. Second, they seem to have changed their policy since 2021... now when you come in, they want you to sign a form saying you will agree to an additional $59 co-pay for an extended eye checkup. I was not interested in this and refused to sign. Lastly, I have issues with getting my eyes dilated, and refused to have that be part of my exam. I was told by the optometrist that either I get my eyes dilated or pay the $59 for the other eye checkup, something I never had to deal with during my December 2021 visit. Unfortunately the optometrist was curtly firm about this policy, so I had no choice but to leave early and look for a different optometrist.

I made an appointment here. I told them my symptoms, rapid loss of vision, extreme pain and sensitivity to light. When I went in it was mostly fine until I saw the doctor. I had mentioned pain and light sensitivity. He shone a flashlight into my eye and I was struggling against the pain to keep my eye open. The doctor showed a complete lack of bedside manner. He said "Cmon man you need to open your eye!" and became increasingly frustrated. It was physically impossible to keep by eye open normally with the light being shone into it tears were running down my face and all was an impossible blur. After a few seconds he threw his arms up and said "you have a cataract, yup" We then handled exit paperwork. I had a sneaking suspicion Dr. Eghbali botched the exam as he was totally frustrated and unprofessional. So I went to a normal optometrist hole in the wall for second opinion. I was given a priority referral and am now scheduled for my operation. Dr Eghbali's diagnosis was incorrect and wholly irresponsible. His mis-diagnosis could have led to a permanent loss of vision for myself. I was very lucky. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
