Poor service and quality. My prescription was wrong. Everytime I wear my glasses, it gave me a headache after only a few minutes of using it. I had to use my old glasses from another optometrist to be able to read. Additionally, I brought my own frames which had a loose screw. They replaced the screw but used a long screw that it stuck out the other end. Lastly, my old optometrist gave away a free case when you bring in just your glasses. Monji didn't even bother to offer a case. I'm going back to my old optometrist. read more

Horrible experience! NEVER going back! I have never felt so invisible in my life! Although there were a few people when I initially walked in, no one came around to even acknowledge my existence even after the place was empty. I walked around and tried on different sunglasses, and stayed for about 15 minutes. It was so awkward because the staff were just sitting at the front desk yet they completely ignored me. Horrible customer service. I didn't even expect anyone rush over to me but at least a quick "let me know if I can help you." would have been the courteous thing to say. I'm shocked at the level of disrespect. It's a tiny place and I was constantly in their view but NOTHING. I even looked in their direction and it was as if they were doing their best to avoid any eye contact. After being ignored, I knew I would never give my business to this establishment. My Ray Bans broke after a long day at work after four years. These are my daily wear and put up with a lot. When they arrive at the door you state your business. They ensure you're wearing a mask, temperature check your forehead and ask you to use hand sanitizer. I love Dr. Monji and all of the employees here! I found this place a few years ago when I moved to town. They had great Yelp reviews so I thought I'd give them a try. Well I'm sure glad I did because the people here are very nice and they do a great job! The place is located on the corner of San Fernando and Orange Grove right in the middle of downtown Burbank. There is plenty of free parking just west of them on Orange Grove. There are a couple of parking garages (free) and some street parking. The place has been remodeled since I started coming and, although I thought it looked fine before I do like the new look. The natural lighting of their huge windows shows off more and it does feel more spacious in here too. Dr. Monji is a very nice doctor. He is patient, kind and helpful. I have had new lenses put in both my glasses and sunglasses and I've also had my eyes dilated, (good times, lol). I plan to keep coming back here as long as I live in the area; hopefully indefinitely! Thanks for the great service! read more

Unfortunately I can't give anything lower than a one star review. But after reading my Experience I hope you reconsider coming here. I had called in to schedule eye exams for my two children just to wait two months not to get good service and to get horrible treatment. They are very rude and unprofessional not to mention Gary Monji has a very aggressive unwelcoming attitude! He made us feel so uncomfortable that I had to just get up and leave! Their office was very hot and felt as if they did not have proper ventilation, also They are not following fire code by locking their main front door during business hours...... My first time here but fell in love instantly. I was assisted immediately by the receptionist in filling up my patient form. While they are verifying my insurance coverage, I was led to the different displays of frames they offer. They carry different brands such as Rayban, Michael Kors, Lacoste, etc. I tried on so many frames but they guy was so patient in assisting me. He gave me a lot of feedbacks on how each frame suit the shape of my my face and which one looks good on me. I had the preliminary eye exam with a very cheerful lady. She made the process seem so easy and I could tell that she's already an expert to this kind of work. Then, I was led to a the examination room to meet with Dr Monji. He is so friendly and made me feel at ease with the consultation from beginning to end. He took his time to determine the proper prescription for me. He eventually determined that the pair of prescription glasses that I had been wearing the past year isn't the right prescription. I actually had it from another optometry. It made me realized why I always have headaches. Thank you, Dr. Momji for finding it out for me. Peggy assisted me with my final choice of glasses. She informed me that my insurance covers UV protection, progressive and transition lens so I went all out. Why not? Not only that, Peggy handed a completed rebate form for my copay and even photocopied the receipt which is required for the rebate. Now, that's what you call doing the extra mile. I wanted to give it 5 stars and they have fantastic customer service. The only thing is that please consider getting your glasses and/or contacts elsewhere because the additional cost for buying here is extravagant. I ordered two pair of multifocal contacts which I know are usually more as they are also dailies for a whooping $347! Compared to watch Parker for $235. I wanted to avoid the hassle of having the package stolen since they only delivered but the difference of over $100 was just insane. IRS my fault for not asking but please consider elsewhere. Yelp Challenge 2016: 28/100 - I absolutely love these people! Super efficient and friendly doctors, technicians and office staff. They have great hours- open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am until 5:30 pm. Especially convenient are their Saturday hours: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. They have the latest technology and even took in-depth photos of my eye which are, incidentally, very beautiful! Their wait times are always super short because they do not overbook themselves. I barely have time to open a magazine before I'm called to do those eye tests, eye gymnastics I call them... When I order glasses, lens and/or frames, they tell me it'll be two working weeks, but it's always shorter than that. They care about fitting them to perfection so that they sit comfortably on your face. Great selection of eyeglasses, sunglasses and contacts, colored and non. The office is situated in beautiful downtown Burbank, so parking is plentiful and shopping, food and movie theaters are all within walking distance. I actually love coming here. Dr. Monji is the best, most honest eye doctor I have ever been to! I have been going to him for over 10 years, and I have recommended him to all my friends, whether they have their own optometrist or not. He's patient, kind, and very personable. If I don't need a new prescription he won't lie to me and tell me I do just so he can make more money off of me (I'm talking to you, my old eye doctor from 12 years ago!) His staff is excellent as well, very friendly and easy to deal with. Love their professionalism. They have a great selection of glasses and colored contacts. Work to do, holidays coming up...let's throw in an eye infection for extra fun times! When my eye recently became red, watery and seemed to be getting progressively more uncomfortable, I decided to look up optometrists in my area covered by my insurance (and cross reference reviews on Yelp too of course). Monji was one of the first options I considered- it was in a convenient area by the mall and shops on San Fernando in Burbank, good reviews, competent looking doctors. The receptionist answering the phone could not have been kinder and was able to get me an appointment for that very Wednesday afternoon. When I arrived, the staff was very nice and calming, and even the eye pressure "puff of air" machine wasn't as uncomfortable as I remember. Dr. Monji inspected my eye and confirmed it was an infection, assured me I'd be fine, and prescribed me with some eye drops to instill several times a day. I returned on Friday for a follow-up and thankfully the eye drops were working, Dr. Monji gave me some useful tips for preventative measures and after one more week of the drops I'll be in the clear. I'm a contact lens wearer, but they had several stylish looking frames to choose from and everyone working there seems to be friendly & professional. I am so happy with Monji Optometry! I have a teeny tiny head (I'm 34 years old) and I have many times in the past gone with youth frames. The selection at Monji is good, but they didn't really have anything I loved that fit me right. The optician that worked with me decided to do some digging and ordered in frames he thought I would like that came in smaller sizes (which they just didn't have in store at the time). I went back in a few days later to see the frames and found one that I loved! He mentioned that because of me, they decided to keep some smaller frames on hand should someone else with my small head predicament come in. I am so happy they did that for me instead of me compromising on a frame I didn't love. I ended up having a defect in one lens that I noticed after the first day. They immediately sent the glasses back in to the lab and when they came back in they were perfect. read more

Unfortunately it seems good customer service is getting harder to find. Now the staff is friendly so no complaints there. But having to wait 2 months for glasses is unacceptable. Myself and a few employees come here for safety glasses. So I thought I would use them as my optometrist. I purchased two pairs of glasses a pair of readers and a pair of sunglasses. Both pairs came in a little over two weeks. However instead of ordering the frame size I requested. They put my lenses in a pair of frames they had in the store which was the wrong size frame. I was told they would reorder the correct frames and I should have the new frames in a week or two tops. I waited the two weeks and when I didn't hear from them I decided to call them. I was told the frames were on order and it should be another week. It's now been another two weeks and I get a call telling me it will be another week. I can only hope that is the case but at this point I'm still waiting. I would not recommend anyone needing new glasses in a hurry use Monji. I'm sure my experience isn't the case for everyone as they do have good reviews. However my co-workers have had issues with Monji not wanting to warranty their safety glasses do to broken arms and now me waiting 2 months and still waiting. I think I will share my experience to management in our next safety meeting and suggest they refer employees to a more reputable optometrist that's willing to stand behind the products they sell. read more

I was a patient there paid for exam ,glasses and prescription a couple of years. Every time I stop by the receptionist is very abrupt and rude, even after me mentioning, I was a patient and paying customer. I only stopped by to ask for a new pair of glasses, she treated me like a stranger as though, I couldn't come in for 10 secs. Went to Monji optometry to get an eye exam for the 1st time and it was an amazing experience. I got a warm welcome greeting as soon as I stepped foot in the door. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Dr. Judy did my eye exam and she made sure I understood everything that was wrong & explained so things were transparent. I asked for contacts and Kathy(?) helped me out. She guided me through the process of how to put them in. It was my first time, so it took me a while to grasp the concept. She was very calm and patient with me, which made things a lot better...It only took me like an hour for both eyes lol My glasses prescriptions were too strong as well so I got replacements. Dr. Monji is awesome! So I used to go to him when I was younger and covered under my parent's insurance... Which was 19 years ago! Recently, my left eye has been bothering me due to allergies. So I made an appointment via the online appointment maker. I love how easy and simple it was. I went in today for the appointment, and he remembered me. He is still as nice as he was when I was younger, he explained everything about how the allergies are affecting my eyes, what I need to do to take care of it, and I was out the door in 45 minutes. I spent most of my life thinking eye doctor school must be several units of "number 1 or number 2" followed by a unit of blow a thing in your eye to see if you have glaucoma. As it turns out, eye doctors learn a TON of really useful stuff in medical school, but very few of them seem to take the time to thoroughly explain all of the reasons your eyes are the way they are. Dr. Monji is the only exception to this rule I've ever found. He told me about 3 problems with my eyes that no doctor had ever seen/explained before, including one that is causing me vision loss that is completely self induced. Specifically, that rubbing my eyes frequently could be the cause of some of my blurred vision. He also found hints of allergies in my eyes, and his prescription has my eyes feeling so much better than they ever have before. I'm so thankful I found this place. read more
