The space was clean and the staff was mostly friendly. At least up front. I am wary of pushy eye doctors who use high pressure sales tactics to "prescribe" expensive eye treatments and it's for this reason I'll never step foot in this business again. The minute I politely told them I just wanted to get my prescription, they stopped being extra friendly and pretty much threw the prescription at me and didn't even say you're welcome when I said thank you. If you know of an eye doctor who doesn't try to upsell you expensive eyelid lasers or amniotic sacs that are meant for burn victims, please message me. I'd love to find someone who is honest. read more

I can see!! This was my first visit here and I am impressed! Clean and bright, happy people work here! (and that means a lot to me!) It seems like they have a wonderful selection of glasses here. The main stand out is Dr. Ferrucci - she is so kind, great at her job, and genuinely seems like she loves giving people the best experience at Toluca Lake Optometric Center. I really enjoyed her energy and awesome attitude. I like the set up of this spot - even when it was a little crowded, it didn't seem overwhelming and small like my last go-to eye spot. The attiudes of the front desk receptionists are really caring and sweet too, which speaks volumes. They seem like they all enjoy working together which is cool energy to be around as well. They have state of the art machines to test your vision and make sure your eyes are in good health condition and when you're asked how you're doing - they seem to authentically care. The reason I am giving them 4 stars is because they don't answer the phone most of the time and they text you letting you know they will call you back and unfortunately they don't. I understand this is because they're busy but you are lead to believe that they will call you back. You will have to call a few times. The second reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because I was quoted a different price for my contacts the first time vs the second time. Meaning at the store I was told it would be *this price* and then when I called to pay the next day, I was told it was *this price*. I was also told that shipping would be a less amount of time then quoted so it does seem like there's a messaging mis-alignment but that's okay- will improve over time. This was my second visit to Toluca Optometric - I was previously there during the Pandemic in December of 2021 and got prescription glasses. On this visit, I wanted to get a standard checkup covered by my insurance and an adjustment to my glasses. Several things went wrong with the visit - first, when I scheduled over the phone weeks ago, it was for a Wednesday, but then a week before the appointment, I got a text confirming a Thursday appointment, which was inconvenient. When I asked about it, I was told that someone had already called me about the date change, which I don't recall ever getting. I had to move things around to still make it work. Second, they seem to have changed their policy since 2021... now when you come in, they want you to sign a form saying you will agree to an additional $59 co-pay for an extended eye checkup. I was not interested in this and refused to sign. Lastly, I have issues with getting my eyes dilated, and refused to have that be part of my exam. I was told by the optometrist that either I get my eyes dilated or pay the $59 for the other eye checkup, something I never had to deal with during my December 2021 visit. Unfortunately the optometrist was curtly firm about this policy, so I had no choice but to leave early and look for a different optometrist. read more

I went in as a repeat patient, and Dr. F introduced herself as if I had never been there. They had no record of my previous visit. The exam was otherwise fine. The front desk staff are super amped up in a way that isn't enthusiastic or kind, just intense and off-putting. And god forbid you want a copy of your prescription because you can't afford their frames-- they hold it hostage until you make multiple requests. Finally I received a blank, unsigned email, with nothing but the attachment. So unprofessional. Patients, you own your medical information. I'm baffled at how a business can have 3 workers at the front desk, yet no one can answer phonecalls or return voicemail messages for 2 business days. I personally went into the business and left being told that I would be given prices on eyeglass frames. After not getting a call back, I called and left a voice message. I didn't get a call back. I called again and left a voice message. Again, I did not get a call back. In fact, I never got through to a live person. I took the time to drive over there again to place an order for eyeglasses only to find that the business was closed before the stated business hours for "training." What a waste of my time. They have a weird answering service and my appt is on Monday. It rings weird and I couldn't get through (it sounds like a fax machine for at least 60 seconds). After multiple calls, and explaining the issue to the receptionist, they decided to charge me $89.00 cancelation fee instead of trying to keep me as a new client and make thousands. There was zero compassion and an extreme sense arrogance from the service woman. In this world and economy, humanity is needed and appreciated. They are always incredible. Just recently I had broken glass get in my eyes. They were able to get me in right away to check to make sure there was no damage, and send me home with the appropriate drops and peace of mind. I had found Toluca Lake Optometric purely by word of mouth since I formerly worked at NBC and a handful of my coworkers went to see Dr. Brill before he retired. I jumped the bandwagon and glad I did! Now Vanessa Ferrucci is the primary optometrist and is professional and gracious. Her staff, formerly Dr. Brill's, is friendly, upbeat and patient. I even had a small infection on my eye about two years ago, and got squeezed in last minute, and Dr. Ferrucci took care of it, prescribing medication and it went away within a day. Much more convenient than running to my primary care physician over the hill. I've gotten several eyeglasses as well as sunglasses and never had a problem picking something out. The Staff is patient, and will give their opinion as you try your eyewear on. I'm particularly tickled to be wearing my Jimmy Choo half rimmed glasses in that "Ray Ban" style that's so trendy right now. Albeit they're the most expensive glasses I've had, the office had a year end special and processed my order on the day my insurance kicked in which I VERY MUCH APPRECIATE. I'm always happy to go back for my annual and special tip that there's usually plenty of street parking on Evergreen, the dead end street by Bob's Big Boy. Be sure to check this one out! read more

Purchased a pair of glasses in 2019 and was very happy with them. Never damaged, scratched or bent. Recently they started sliding down my face so I figured I'd get them tightened up, no biggie right? Well due to the pandemic you can't just "show up" you have to make an appointment, even for an adjustment and they wouldn't let me inside. The people there were very nice enough to help out, problem is she MANGLED MY FRAMES. What should have been a simple tightening turned into something else, my eyelashes were touching my lenses and after a second adjustment my right cheek now touches the frame and the center of my vision is all off. I was told that pall they can do because my frames are "old". L as than 2 years is old? K I've been wearing glasses for 30 years and I've never had this type of experience. I didn't want to cause anyone any anxiety so I thanked her (as she was apologizing) and left. But I woke up today thinking I need new glasses and regret the event. read more

My normal experience has been at Len crafters and the Sears Optometry Centers. The experience at Toluca Lake Optometric Center exceed my expectations at all levels! Customer service- a clean office is a part of the experience for a customer. The office is clean a d follows all Covid protocols, which actually , in their office, means you feel special and attended to. You have to call to be let in once you arrive. There was only one other couple in the office at the same time. The doctor was GREAT with my teenage daughter. She knew exactly what to say and how to say it to help my daughter understand the importance of wearing glasses. The doctor and staff took the time and were very patient with my daughter as she picked out frames for her new glasses. A teenage girl picking out glasses... you can just imagine! I found Dr. Ferucci and the Toluca Lake Optometric Center. I had a great experience. I haven't been to an eye doctor in YEARS and I was able to make an appointment easily. The office is clean and well maintained (it looks like an eyeglass store from the outside) and the staff of women were all nice and efficient. I felt like I had plenty of time with Dr. Ferucci to ask questions about my concerns and she explained every step of the thorough eye exam which was great since it had been so long for me. The office staff also broke down my insurance coverage. I only had to pay my copay fee and I opted for the digital eye photo that was $39. They also have a great selection of glasses that they can fit for you. I found ones I liked but I was on the fence so I said I would call the next day. I decided to go with different frames online and they had no problem with that and immediately faxed over my prescription. I will definitely come back here for future eye appointments and will definitely be recommending Dr. Ferucci to my friends - especially since it's in such a convenient location. Today was my very first eye exam as an adult! I'm in my late 40s! I let them know and they walked me through everything, with genuine care. Dr. Ferruci took time to listen to my eye concerns and explained everything to me with my eye visual on the screen! It was awesome! There facility has a dope range of eye wear, including my favorite brand Tom Ford. I didn't need glasses today, but when I do, I'm going to enjoy shopping!! I unfortunately had one of the worst experiences of my life at this eye doctor with the front desk. I initially called in September because I was having issues with my vision blurring at night and it was making it difficult to drive. I called thinking the office would empathize and have some advice on what to do and they acted like they didn't care at all. They told I would have to wait about three weeks to get me in... I was upset of course but I just went with it because I wasn't trying to be difficult. I finally made it to my appointment and the front desk staff was again very apathetic and sounded so bothered just by me trying to check in. Once I met with Dr. F all was fine, but we scheduled a follow up appointment to see how my trial went. Fast forward to today when that appointment was supposed to be, I ended up having to go to the emergency room and had to reschedule, the front desk said that they didn't have anything for another week and a half (which didn't work anyways). They said they didn't have anything else available for weeks, this is where it escalated... I talked to Crystal who gave me the most unprofessional treatment I've ever received. I expressed that I was surprised that the doctor didn't have any room to try to squeeze me in anywhere because of my vision issue and that it wasn't a full appointment, so it would be quick and she immediately responded in a condescending tone, saying "oh so you want me to call everyone and move their schedule around for you". I was shocked that she responded to my general frustration being so passive aggressive. I explained that's not what I said at all and she continued to mock my voice. She repeated what I said in a condescending tone being immature about it and told me that if I had a problem with it then "you could find another doctor". Crystal expressed that I shouldn't be surprised that it's so difficult to get in with the doctor because she said, quote "It takes weeks for me to get in with my gynecologist, what do you expect". I was utterly shocked that Crystal had no shame in her unprofessionalism. I complained to my insurance and thankfully was able to get the exam waived and already have an appointment to see a new doctor. While today's incident was the most direct conversation, the front desk has not been accommodating since I started with Dr. F. The two at the desk here have always sounded so angry, every time I've spoke with them and I'm honestly relieved that I found another option to pursue. Nobody deserves to be treated like this when they just want basic healthcare to help them in their time of need. Overall, it is a major issue if your doctor does not have time to help care for you. While I understand schedules can be tight, the fact that this place has a 5-10 person wait list daily shows how much they've overbooked Dr. F, which is not fair to the patients. read more

I had to change optometrists due to an insurance change, and Toluca Lake Optometric Center is the one I picked. I'm glad I did. The staff is friendly and thorough. Dr. Ferrucci explained everything very well. The prices for frames are a bit high, but that's understandable since they are located in an upscale area and carry brands like Prada and Oliver Peebles. They also have frequent sales. If your insurance covers glasses, that will cut down the frame prices, too. If you need glasses and/or contacts, or just want to get an eye exam for health screening reasons, this is a good place to go. read more

I wear my glasses from am to pm so it's important for me to have options and they didn't disappoint. I gave them my insurance information before heading in and they explained what was covered and what wasn't. This was the THIRD optometrist office we visited in an effort to find great looking glasses for my pre-teen son. We usually buy them at our optometrist (which is a very nice shop in Sherman Oaks on Ventura) but he could find nothing that was interesting. We looked on Yelp and visited another office in Studio City that had good reviews, but had no luck there either. I asked a friend, whose son has great looking glasses, where they got them and she sent us here. Not only was the staff super helpful, but Dr. Ferrucci was very helpful as well. They have SO MANY great looking glasses that it was hard to choose. My son found a pair which he loved. Their frames were all great looking...it was so fun to shop there. And the pricing was so great too. Very high quality but not crazy prices. I can't wait till I'm due for new frames next year so I can get a new pair of glasses here too!!! read more

I'm not talking about a $10 co-pay... I have full insurance and was asked to pay $120+ for just the exam! Dr. Ferruci demands default-inflate service charges for so-called "premium contact lense fitting fees" when no such designation was attributable to our case. This was decided upon BEFORE the actual appointment was to take place without having to conduct an exam first to evaluate whether any such special prescription contacts would be appropriate--this was not the case with some other optometrists in the area. I wear Acuvue Oasys and was told on the phone before my appointment that I would be charged for premium lenses simply because the "chair time" is longer than a eyeglass exam. read more

We went to Toluca Lake Optometric to get new lens for a pair of sunglasses. No prescription was required since they are worn with contacts. It took 18 days to get them back from a local lab. When we picked-up the glasses, we asked if the lab could provide us with one additional screw as a back-up since that problem had just occurred prior to going to Toluca Lake Optometric and rendered the glasses unusable. We were told by Laurie, office staff, that labs DON'T HAVE SCREWS. She found 3 screws in the back office that didn't match in color the lens screws. The cost for the new lens was VERY pricey. We provided the frames as mentioned above that were in excellent condition and valuable. After paying for the new lens for the glasses, we were not given an eyeglass case to take them home. We were given the wrapping that the lab wrapped the glasses in. Customer service seems to be a problem at this establishment. When we first came to Toluca Lake Optometric and arranged for the lens replacement, we paid a deposit and were not given any invoice to take with us. We had to return to receive an invoice. Would I recommend this optometry office? Absolutely not, unless you want to abandon the feeling of a sense of security and responsibility and be treated like what you need is not important. If I needed to return to replace a screw or something under warranty, if there is a warranty, I would say that I cannot be sure of what the office would do. Following up unconditionally if something is not right is the hallmark of a responsible business enterprise. You can guess with me what Toluca Lake Optometric would do. read more

I had such a wonderful experience here. Everyone was so friendly from the moment I walked in. Dr. Ferrucci was thorough, did a great job explaining my eye health, and provided me with multiple eye drop samples and coupons so I could find the product I liked best to help with some dryness I was experiencing. The opticians, Crystal and Lori, were so kind and both went above and beyond to help me find the perfect pair of glasses. After mentioning that I loved my current pair because they were purple, I left the exam room to find nearly a dozen frames in every shade of purple ready for me to try on. I've never seen such a fabulous frame selection before. They each took the time to help me try different shapes and determine which was best for me without making me feel at all rushed or embarrassed about being so picky about my color selection. When I returned to pick up my glasses, I again received amazing attention that exceeded all my expectations, and they were even so thoughtful as to give me a purple case.
