I showed her what I needed to be done and without hesitation she it would done the next day and it was. We first met him for my dads prescription-we we're referred to him as the know it all master, who makes specialty pairs that most other places don't give the time to. Since then my mom got diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (and diabetes effects the eye site) and George/Glenview Optical has been an essential part of my moms quality of life. George and Veronica, what a pair, and that's not the name of my glasses, mind you I don't even know where to begin, because this place is so amazing that I'm beyond floored!!! I was a mess, and I had a flight to catch in two days. My frames were crooked, my prescription was incorrect, I would soon learn from George, and I was suffering from migraines because of it. Mind you, I did not purchase my frames, or get this prescription from Glenview. Matter of fact, I was just walking in for the first time, as I knew I needed help. I was greeted by Veronica, who was very kind and welcoming. She listened to all of my issues, and called out George. George took me into his office, and asked me to explain to him what was going on. Keep in mind at this point I have not made any sort of purchase or payment, but they didn't care. Veronica and George cared ONLY about helping me, and they REALLY did! George knew within minutes that I had the wrong prescription, and he asked me to hand him over my glasses, as he realized they were very crooked on my face. He fixed my frames on the spot, and sent me back out to Veronica. I was worried about my trip in a couple of days, and not being able to see. Veronica told me she was going to get the lens rush ordered, and they would be ready before my trip. As promised, my glasses were ready to be picked up in the exact time frame that I was promised, and everything was great. The prescription was perfect, and I was off on my trip where I was able to see clearly, and my headaches that were occurring from vision strain, were gone. I have since had my other pair of lenses switched out, and I will continue to give my business to Glenview. It's very hard to find people out there these days that care, and this business truly does. We bought glasses in Paris and wanted to make sure we had quality frames installed. We were referred here from Costco and I'm so glad we went. Plenty of parking The woman who helped us quickly took our prescription and handled the payment, she even knew how to write invoices for using FSAs. After only two days we came to pick up our glasses and the man who actually made the lenses helped us. He had a great sense of humor and made sure we left happy. Poor customer service, very disappointing. Left my reading glasses for simple repair Friday (one arm needed to be screwed due to broken detail). They assured me it will be ready Monday. Went Monday, was not ready, they told me to come back Tuesday. Called Tuesday, the Front Desk lady told me it's not ready yet, but for sure will be ready by noon. Calling back again, around 2pm, and guess what? She states, it's difficult to repair thats why it takes linger (apparently they haven't even touched it), and she was not giving me any time frame at all, as if it was a pleasure to bounce the client back and forth. But the worst answer I was given was "You have an option to come and get it back, and take it somewhere else" Which I did right away, took it back after waisting 5 days. Never ever going to that place again. read more

I would NOT recommend GLENVIEW optical despite their positive reviews. Costco referred me to them. I am not sure what the deal is between these two?! Costco could not do my rimless lenses unfortunately so I shopped around in Glendale. Glenview was definitely one of the most expensive in town. Their quote was way up there!!! Even though their store is not "upmarket" to say the least. George was rather the moody kind. Retirement would probably do him some good. Strange thing is their glasses do NOT carry price tags. Often the desk employee will ask G for the price. And he seems to quote whatever he is in the mood for. Weird. No transparency there! read more

I was recommended to Glenview from Costco because they were unable to sell me new polarized lens. I arrived at Glenview at around 12pm and I parked on a street nearby because I couldn't find their parking lot (it's behind the building and there's plenty!). I was greeted immediately and the staff member helped me out. She said the lens would be done the same day but due to my time crunch, she was able to assist me ASAP and got my new lens in within 20 minutes!! I really appreciated her flexibility and she saved me so much time (instead of driving back another time/day since I live far). The total came out to $78 for a pair of polarized lenses. The hospitality at Glenview is remarkable and I will definitely be coming back here in the future! Highly recommend and worth my drive! read more

COME HERE FOR EYEGLASSES REPAIR AND ANYTHING ELSE EYEGLASSES-WISE YOU NEED. Sorry for yelling, I'm just very passionate about eyeglasses. So you can imagine my surprise and excitement when I received great service at Glenview Optical. I'm absolute trash at taking care of my glasses. They're always falling off my face at even the slightest downward tilt, getting misplaced, and yesterday, sat on. I went to Glenview Optical with my glasses precariously balanced on my nose, the arms stuck on the "Y" in YMCA. No appointment, just walked in, and they were able to see me within ten minutes max. The actual repairing of my glasses took only five. Probably would've been quicker if the technician didn't need to fit my glasses to my giant face. Needless to say, the man was an artist. I don't really like this next part but I can appreciate it: my glasses repair was free! I can appreciate that the whole process only took five minutes and that for some people, a free repair might save them money for food or rent. I'm very fortunate that that isn't the case for me. The tech that helped me (his office is the first one on the left) had diplomas on his wall and was obviously very well trained for this craft. The repair only took five minutes BECAUSE of his expertise. I would have really loved to pay for his hard work and support this small business. But they insisted that it was free, and I felt like tipping might be rude. So I left and here I am trying to make up for it by leaving this review. My glasses fit me better than they did when I first got them (that's what I get for buying online and not measuring properly). I no longer need to keep pushing them up my face like an anime antagonist. It's a small difference but when it's something you need to properly function, it's everything. I really appreciate the great work being done over at Glenview optical. If I ever sit on my glasses again, I know exactly where to head next. read more

I didn't know this small gem existed but I am so glad that I was referred to them. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a smile by the friendly front desk employee named Veronica. I went in to have eye glasses modified and have nose pads added. Veronica is a straight shooter and told me that that they could do it but would take a day. I have no problem with people being honest and that's what the people at this place are. When I picked up my glasses the next day, I was quite impressed with the work of George. He took his time to do a last minute adjustment and I was off. I can't recommend this place enough. If you are reading this to find someone to do business with for your eyeglass needs - go no further, you've found the right place! If you want a kind, patient, fair, knowledgable, experienced person as your optician, you've found the right place! I was putting on my prescription Maui Jim sunglasses when they suddenly popped apart where the bridge attaches to the lens! My heart sunk, I didn't think I'd be able to repair them. I called Maui Jim and they suggested sending them in for them to examine and see what needed to be done, possibly I may have to purchase a new bridge. My husband discovered there was a tiny crack at the top of the lens where they attach to the bridge. The optician I originally bought my sunglasses from suggested I come in but he thought I may have to purchase a brand new frame and lens. I went to Costco where they gave me a business card for "Glenview Optical and George Alvarado, Master Optician." George is indeed a Master Optician. I was delighted when he discovered through his diligent inspection that the bridge was intact, as was the frame. I did need to replace the lenses. George, patiently and throughly explained everything to me. He could have new lenses, exactly the same as my original ones, made for these glasses. I am so glad I chose to do that. When I called Glenview Optical yesterday to see if my glasses were ready, Veronica, who manages the front desk told me the lenses didn't pass the exam and she would call me back with an update. I received a call from her today telling me my glasses were ready! When I came to pick them up, George explained that during the pandemic, many experienced technicians left their jobs and now there are many trainees in place doing the job. When George spoke with the technician he found out they didn't know how to attach this particular lens to the frame. They wanted to produce another set of lenses. George, knew what the issue was and he guided the technician how to attach the lens to the frame, no need to make a second set of lenses. He is highly skilled and knows every aspect of the science and his craft. I have found a gem in Glenview Optical. Wonderful people, wonderful place to do business. read more

I have two pair of prescription reading glasses. I broke the frame on both sides of my primary pair which caused both lenses to continually fall out. I also broke one of the temple arms off of one side of my spare pair of glasses which rendered them useless as well. So needless to say I needed some immediate replacement and repair service. I called Glenview Optical and was advised that they were open and could make the necessary repairs. I met with the receptionist upon my arrival, explained my predicament and she immediately found several frames that would accommodate the lenses of my primary pair. Her father (82 years young) with over 42 years of experience expertly installed the lenses into the new frame in his workshop. He was also able to repair my spare pair by using the hinge from my old primary pair that he had replaced. They were both very professional, knowledgeable and very accommodating to all of my needs. There's nothing like supporting local business and this one has definitely been a gem over the years and continues to be so. So if you have any optical needs this is the place to be. This place was amazing woke up with my eye not feeling well I was on my last pair of contacts ( that broke) have them a call because I needed an emergency pair. Fantastic! Super fast and friendly service. I brought in my 10 year old cat-eye frames to have prescription lenses put in. They look like they are from the 60s, but they are just reproductions. Costco wouldn't do it, and I've had other optical shops give me a hard time about them too. Glenview Optical fitted them with new lenses with no problem! AND they were ready the NEXT DAY! I was referred to George & Glenview Optical by America's Best Eyeglasses in Burbank - who while a good find for free eye exams and good prices for prescription reading glasses, are not good about fixing frames bought from them. A loose screw or simple attachment, yes. But broken frames, no. And usually they don't offer the same frame if it's been a year or more. So I was very glad when they gave me George's card. George is a great craftsman, and delightfully "old school" about fixing things that can be fixed rather than throwing out and replacing. My frames were basic, and simple and comfortable and I really didn't want to trash them and buy new glasses. George repaired them beautifully and Veronica, the delightful and helpful woman at the front desk, called within two days to say they were ready for pickup. Costco was not able to work on my frames so they referred me to see George, at Glenview Optical. I am so glad I went to see George because he took his time with me and made sure my frames were sitting right before ordering the lenses. The pricing for every level of quality for the lenses were explained to me and I was able to choose what was best suited for my needs and budget.
