I didn't expect a simple Lantus refill to become such a seemingly impossible quest, but when I found myself delayed and unable to return home for another month, and then discovered that my pharmacy back home couldn't send me my insulin due to a "global shortage," Costco pharmacy came to the rescue. Luckily, the global shortage was exaggerated and this Costco did in fact have the pens in stock-- but getting my prescription transferred here so that it could be filled was truly a patience testing ordeal for the people here. Suzie could have given up. I wouldn't have known and if I had heard about it later I wouldn't have blamed her-- instead she made this happen. We are leaving with my Lantus, and a renewed appreciation of Costco culture and of the decency of one specific person and the dedication of the pharmacy. Thank you. read more

Came in looking for a bottle of Sintori whiskey and a bottle of red for a gift. We found the Suntori non vintage whiskey for $84.99, while they had the 12 year old for $144, i was ok to just get the regular whiskey. If you know anything about Japanese whiskey Suntori whiskey is an excellent choice for the orice with great value. Afterall i was visiting family and they never had a Japanese which before. This was a great opportunity to get a bottle at an excellent price. Also got a bottle of reserva Ribiera del Duero Montecrasto. This was the first CostCo I shopped at with my membership. This CostCo had a great selection. It looked like they typically have good produce here. The store was spacious, and they had a large parking lot. I enjoyed some mango slices I got at this CostCo. I was grateful for self checkout kiosks. read more

This can't be an easy job working at Costco. Dealing with so many of these lunatic customers takes a special kind of person with a positive personality and exceptional way of dealing with even the most challenging customer. Hue and Heavenly in the Costco sign up department have that special thing. Actually the entire team has it. My buddy has been egging me on to sign up for some time. I had no reason why I did not other than I was lazy. I mean with the great prices, top shelf products, deals, and benefits who would not sign up. Is I preceded to head over to the counter to inquire on which membership to buy. After a brief wait Hue assisted me. He took the time to explain every single membership and its individual benefits and perks. Hue was extremely knowledgeable in everything about membership. He walked me through the best way to go for my needs and to be honest sold me on the Executive + and Citi card. It seemed to be the best fit for me and huge perks to go with it. All of which i will use. While Hue was showing me the ropes, an older heavyset woman I can only term a 'babushka' muscled her way into our conversation with a demanding question about someone helping her out with taking a picture. She demanded she needed her photo taken while invading our conversation and practically smooshing me against the counter. I wanted to tell her she may want to consider returning the several boxes of donuts she had in her cart as she didn't need more but her husband behind her holding the cart looked more beaten down more than she could have ever beaten on me. I opted to calmly tell her she needed to wait until I was done with my business. Which I must say is out of character for me, on any regular day I would have opted to let her have it, All during this Hue maintained his calm demeanor and continued with all the info I needed and running my card for an application and signing me up for Costco Executive. He managed all this while a few other errant customers milled around the service counter giving all the staff the evil eye. All I could do was make jokes and comment on how difficult it must be dealing with all these folks and it wasn't even a busy weekend. I would absolutely lose my mind. Aside of the extremely knowledgable and curious service Hue and Heavenly and all their team members provided to everyone around them, they possessed and extremely calm demeanor about them when dealing with at minimum extremely challenging customers. I have to say this store is huge and well appointed, extremely clean, and organized. I will likely make this my home store even coming from the northside of the city for a 30 minute trip. It's worth it. Hue was the actual reason I did sign up and apply for the Citi membership to begin with. With only a few questions had initially had for him he knew how to welcome me in as a new customer. Why would I not sign up with service like that? I love Costco! Great deals in bulk and free samples! Free bathrooms and parking and no bags wasted to kill the environment. You can take your stuff in a box you can upcycle. It's nice and warm in there too. And when there are sales, it's even a better deal. I have the best deal on seaweed that I've ever seen in any grocery store or Asian grocery. I had been texted an alert about a prescription, so, needing other items, I planned a trip to Costco. When I got to Pharmacy, a short blonde woman (Julie? Suzie! Dang, can't recall her name!) gently questioned me and shared that at the end of the text it said Rx would not be ready for two days, which I had totally missed. Instead of making me feel like a fool, she nicely suggested that I do more shopping and she'd have Rx ready in ten minutes. It was such a pleasant and caring conversation that I simply had to take the time to give this person 5 stars! (And a spot on Santa's Nice List!) The other Costco Pharmacy checkout folks have always been fine, but her warmth and thoughtful nature had to be commended! Review Title: Inconsistent Procedures and Rude Staff at Membership Desk 08/29/2025 -- I've been a loyal Costco shopper for over 11 years, but today was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had. I arrived at 8:53 AM needing a temporary membership card because I'd accidentally left my wallet at home after dropping my husband off at work. I had Apple Pay but don't have access to the digital membership card since I'm listed under my mother's executive account. I only needed a temporary card to get gas before a 9:30 AM appointment. When I walked in, I was stopped by an employee named Mhonia at the membership desk, who was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Instead of simply directing me to the membership desk like what happened during a similar situation on 08/15/2025, she insisted I first "check in" with a person standing in the middle of the exit holding an iPad. Her tone and attitude were condescending, and it was clear from her smirk and demeanor that she was making assumptions about me based on my appearance. It felt humiliating and completely unnecessary. After "checking in," the iPad employee just sent me back to Muky at the membership desk anyway -- the same place I should have gone in the first place. Muky, by contrast, was professional, empathetic, and efficient. She provided me with a temporary card immediately and validated my frustration. I then spoke with Raul, the manager, to clarify the proper procedure moving forward. Shockingly, he couldn't confirm whether the process Mhonia insisted on was correct. He even admitted that the iPad employee could have printed the temporary card but didn't know how. This lack of consistency creates unnecessary stress for customers and allows certain employees to exercise power in a way that feels degrading. If there is a new procedure, Costco should clearly communicate it to both customers and staff. Because of this confusion, I wasn't able to finish pumping gas until 9:22 AM -- nearly 30 minutes after I arrived. I want to recognize Muky at the membership desk and James at the fueling station for their kindness and professionalism. They salvaged what was otherwise a very upsetting experience. Costco needs to train staff better, ensure procedures are uniform, and hold employees accountable when they treat customers with disrespect. I haven't been in this particular Costco in quite a while. One thing that hasn't changed is they have one of the biggest, busiest, and congested Costco parking lots around. With their great Oakbrook location, they are always very busy and they have a huge customer base. I also noticed something today that seemed different and that is they offer a ton of samples here! To me this is one of the largest Costco's close to Chicago that I know of and frequent when I am near. I was shopping for a new OLED and decided to stop in. I had help from the employee to decide and he helped me load the flat bed and gave me all the paperwork I need to support the TV in case of defects. Once outside at my car they even helped me load the car up and the customer service here was impressive. I did not even have to ask and they offered. You can't go wrong with any TV here and it comes with 5yr warranty $99 value included in the price. (no brainer). The self checkout doesn't supply scanners (Sam's does) so usually an employee will scan your waters, toilet paper etc. the heavier items but today the Costco employee stood at the end of the registers and stared into space...nevertheless to say I had to pick up my heavy stuff....grrrrrr....then I had to process my card twice because the machine refused it. I do not know what is going on with Costco lately. I bought Good Foods guacamole at the North Riverside Costco. It comes in a 3 pack. The packaging on the outside does not have an expiration date. It is on the inside plastic clear tub. I did not see the expiration date until I opened it at home. There is no way I can finish 3 tubs of guacamole that quickly. I called Costco North Riverside and they said I had to bring it back. I told them they should probably check the dates on the rest of the supply of guacamole in the store. I hope they did. I called corporate Costco and they said I could just bring in my receipt and get a refund. I did not trust that, so I headed out to Costco again with the product in hand. I ended up at the Oak Brook Costco instead because I had to get to work. It was closer to by employment. I brought it in and the girl was quite rude to me. I said I called first and she gave me the refund, but I did not appreciate the attitude. I was kind and yet I was the one that was put out and purchased an item that was going to expire in 2 days. If you have a warehouse club and sell in bulk, the dates should be monitored closely. I have been paying for a Costco membership for 11 years. I had an executive membership for the first few years, now I have the regular membership. I do not appreciate being disrespected for returning food that will expire in 2 days, when I pay for a membership and groceries are very expensive these days, plus I was treated like I did something wrong for returning it. I called corporate again and they said to go back and talk to a manager. My only reason for the calls were to make them aware so things could be looked into. Checking the dates better and having their employees be more courteous. I've been a Costco member for only a short time and I love this place more than the Orland Park location and the Bedford Park location. Costco is nothing but an emporium of treasures. Parking was really easy to find, enjoyed browsing around the store mindlessly for over an hour. Got some good. They have alot more on their menu then usual on what they offer. This place also sells cigarettes in a little closed off area that looks hard to get too like Fort Knox with its security cages. They also have an area where they have a local artist selling his paintings. That was really great. I love the staff and the people that shop here are really generous too. Costco your big box buy all bulk products even if you don't need that much. You can pick up some great deals at Costco, but a lot of the items are not that cheap. This store in Oakbrook must be a goldmine. The parking lot is enormous and any time of the day you come here it's packed. Like all Costco's there are some items that are such a great value they are hard to pass on, things like the hot dog for $1.50 with a drink, both chock full of nutrition. (NOT) Their rotisserie chicken for $4.99 is like 2 or 3 meals for me and the wife. I never clean the carcass completely as I use the bones to make my chicken, ginger, garlic soup. After boiling and simmering the chicken for my soup base I scoop out the carcass and set it aside to cool off. Mince a ton of ginger and some garlic along with Vegeta let simmer for another hour or so and add the chicken cleaned off the carcass & add Noodles or barley & ta da the soup is done (better then the soup Nazi on Seinfeld) and Oh so easy to make. Gas is also a great value usually 20-25 cents less per gallon. The other thing that I really love is the Costco Executive Card which at $120 (just increased from $110) is a bit pricey, but the perks coupled with the Citi Costco Card can be many, earning anything from 4% to 1% on purchases. The service was horrible. When we were getting the receipt checked and mark, we saw an old man in his 70-80's and he said that he was here to pick up his subscriptions for his health because he forgot it. The staff said he was not allowed into the pharmacy because they were closed (it closed 3 minutes ago) staff was really against him but us and 1 worker helped his get his medication but we don't know if he got it or not. Then my husband was inside the Costco getting a phone from T mobile. He still had to shop around but he had no money for him and we were waiting outside. We tried getting in because it JUST closed. They said we were not allowed into because it was closed. But we did not stand there because he still needed to get the stuff he needed for Costco. My least favorite Costco. I love the deals, and the parking here was plentiful and easy. Other than that, staff is unhelpful and cranky. You'll also find the customer's cranky too. Do not recommend. At all other Costco locations when you use self checkout, you do not have to wait in the line at the exit. Here, the worker requires you to wait in the long line and argues with customers. She also does not speak fluent English which is a problem when you are going to be dealing with customers. read more

Costco has gone worse in customer service. Today (03/07 @ 5 pm CST) my wife was buying grocery and she spent 1 hr picking up products. After all the shopping she was refused at billing just because I could not be there with her. They could have let us know that next time she cannot shop without the member. She spoke to manager and supervisor, they did not listen for a minute and were very firm. This is so ridiculous, given that I am hearing this for the first time, We could have received a FYI and not to shop without the member. However the un-customer service would not let us do that. I am not saying that this right, but they could have let her shop given that we are hearing this for the first time. In my household sometimes I go for shopping or my wife or daughter, given this absurd policy we cannot ever shop in costco. Yes the parking lot can be a pain to navigate but short of that.. I always have a great experience at this costo. Notability their selection in clothes and flowers. I've bought a desk from there, printer, you name it. They have the best selection every time I go in and I'm never disappointed. Notably I wanted to write a review on their optical department. I went in a month ago and got a pair of contact lenses to trial out until my new set of contact lenses came in. I have astigmatism and I rarely find my prescription at a store unless I order online. Well I ripped my last contact lens before my new order came in. I have glasses, which I also got from Costco, but with the mask and me not being used to wearing them all day, I was worried how long I'd have to wear the glasses in the meantime. I called and came in and got a new trial contact lens to hold me over in the meantime. The receptionist even said if they don't work me her and the Dr can figure something else out. What a peach. I am so grateful for them being understanding and helpful. They're always busy I promise, it is worth the wait time. You will be taken care of. read more
