I purchased 4 tires for my 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport. I had to make an appointment for installation because, the tires were not in stock at the Oak Brook warehouse. Never received a call when they came in. Costco tires dept. personal informed me my lug nut were slightly oversized due to wear, age, and rust. They could not torque them to factory specifications on my 10 year old vehicle that is my daily drive. I told them I didn't need them torqued to factory specifications, to put them on and if needed I'll tighten them manually with a 4 way lug wrench. I was told they can't do that it against their policy. I got my money returned. Went down the street to a competitor and they had 4 tires in stock, $25.00 less than Costco price, installed. I am not renewing my membership at Costco. I would not give them this one star but Yelp won't post my review until I click on the one star. read more

Ok, Costco is cool. You can find some great deals and buy things in bulk. Their diapers are amazing too. This locations just always a madhouse! It's hard to park, there's lots of confusion trying to exit the lot, etc. coming to this spot gives me anxiety. It's Costco... and since I love Costco, that's a good start. However, this Costco has everything you could ever want. They should just rename this store Santa Claus, because when you get home from shopping here, you will feel like it is Christmas! Such a super clean store, with friendly staff, fully stocked with goodies, ample parking, and tons of samples (or as I like to call it, lunch)! If the samples don't fill you up, then you can even stop and get a bite to eat for super cheap at the cafe at the front of the store. I love Costco. I really do. They are a fabulous and extremely well run company. Outstanding meat selection and quality, largest wine retailer in the country, they pay living wages and benefits, have lots healthy and organic food items and all that good stuff. That said, Christmas ornaments in Sept? Really!? I went in to buy a giant spider for my annual Halloween party and it was all the way in the back of the store, exiled there by the Christmas stuff. I didn't even see any Thanksgiving stuff, Columbus Day stuff, Veterans Day stuff, Kwanzaa or Festivus stuff. I wish that I could split my rating. The tire department in Oak Brook is excellent. I was able to get an appointment in one day for tire rotation, and it only took them 45 minutes to do it. Unfortunately, the Customer Service associates in Oak Brook are not up to anyone's standards. I have tried to renew my membership the last 2 visits, but the line is always too long. Today I waited and when I got to the front of the line, the associate told me that she always messed it up when she tried to do memberships, and that I would have to wait for the other associate. Ten minutes later the other person finished with her customer, and then went to lunch. I tried to find a manager but there is apparently no way to talk to anyone in management. read more

It's a Costco like many others but the personnel in the Hearing Center are outstanding. I bought Costco hearing aids 7 years ago and they have served me very well. My contact with everyone I've met in the HC has been positive and Steven, in particular, has gone the extra mile to make sure I got good service on several occasions. When one of my aids lost a small piece last year, he explained he could probably fix it but it might break as he tried, given their age. So he gave me the choice of taking a chance on the fix or playing it safe. The staff will often suggest cleaning the devices while I shop and they replace the tips and "sport clips" at no charge whenever I need them to. My recent hearing test--yesterday--was conducted very professionally by Mick and he explained the pros and cons of two models at two price points. I'm looking forward to using my new devices. read more

I had superb customer service today (4-28-20) in the tire department! One of the tires I had purchased a couple three years ago had a large bolt lodge into it and another Costco location wanted to sell me a new tire but to my relief they didn't have my tire in stock! They sent me to the OakBrook location and the service guy said you don't need a new tire we can fix it! Wow could have spent money I didn't have and viola repaired with No charge!! This has always been the worst Costco in the surrounding area. I shop for my parents now because of the pandemic. I have the same last name that's on the Costco card and everything. And yet here it's an issue because I'm not the "cardholder". Way to go Costco, might as well just have them cancel their membership. You guys don't even offer curbside pickup during a pandemic. Had tires put on my van two hours later I was downtown Chicago and my tires were falling off my car. I have the whole thing and dash cam with customers in the backseat of the vehicle.Make sure they tighten the lugs on your vehicle. Keep in mind Mike the manager at this location did nothing for me. No harm no foul. Just make sure your lugs on your vehicle are tight before you leave the garage. The tires are priced right. Read the back of what you are signing when you purchased the tires. It says the re-tighten the lugs after 25 miles. That's a joke LOL. That is so when they make a mistake like not tighten your lugs up and you die on the expressway. They are not responsible for it. Just be careful. That's what happened to me yesterday. read more

This is my favorite costco in the area by far. They always have awesome seasonal flowers/plants. We just got the evergreen arrangement for the front porch last week. The store is always clean and well stocked (besides toilet paper and paper towels). It is always very busy and crowded, but they keep the flow moving and its never a long wait. Called ahead to bring my car in for new tires. Guy on the phone said there was no wait and to bring it in within the next hour. I brought my car in twenty minutes later. Now there was a two hour wait suddenly. I told the guy I couldn't wait that long. He suggested I call ahead in the future to make an appointment. I pointed out that I called ahead and he told me there was no wait. He didn't have any response other than, "well, you can buy the tires now then come back and have them installed at a later date." If you have any doubts about overpopulation being a world problem, come to this Costco on a Saturday afternoon and you'll want to put an action item on getting your tubes tied. The parking lot is HUGE and a grade-A mess. Packed to the brim, be prepared to get your exercise in while walking from the back of the lot to the store. Don't worry, a good cardio work out is essential if you plan on sampling from the bevy of cooking displays here on the weekends. Once you get in the store, you may have to wait in line to even show your membership card- that's how busy it is. Now that you're inside, plan on waiting in line to go into the aisles, too. Turns out those food testing tables attract Costco-goers in swarms. This trip to Costco was specifically to check out their golf supply selection as well as gallon tub mayo and coffins. Okay, just the golf clubs but if you wanted to impulse buy the mayo and coffin, you could do that too. Variety is the spice of life and Costco is a f*cking habanero. Anyway, a friend told us to check out golf sets here because he believed we could get quality clubs at a great price... False. Turns out, you'll need at least a grand before you walk out of Costco with their one and only golf club set option. No thanks, we'll just take the mayo and coffin today. The solidifying factor to the 3 star rating was the amount of Ca-Razy folk here who get off on ramming you with their carts. Costco Oakbrook, you owe this gal some new ankles. read more

What I love about Costco... *FREE BRUNCH (or dinner) aka food samples.. *Buying in bulk means fewer trips to store... *Kirkland products: delicious bone-in ham, good olive oil, avocado oil, spices, vinegars, paper towels, toilet paper (yes, toilet paper - - best bang for your buck, I can't stand those tiny rolls). *Fantastic return policy. Lost your receipt? They can look it up. The coffee maker you bought 2 years ago isn't working? They will take it back. *Nice selection of seafood - love the giant crab legs, ahi tuna, mussels, oysters, wild salmon.. *Prime choice cuts of meat. love the organic selection too... Too much meat in packages you say? Separate your meat, smartly wrap and freeze. *Deals on kitchenware and appliances you would pay more for at a specialty store.. I bought my 6 qt. dutch oven here ($40), years ago and it performs just as good as Le Creuset but without the price tag... *WINE & SPIRITS! nice selection and savings. Cakes are moist and reasonably priced. *FLOWERS! A few cons: *Produce & fruit quality and organic selection is great to average and depending on the produce, it can be pricier than buying at your local market. Yes, you can freeze your fruits if needed.. *You find an item (a certain wine or Biscoff cookies for dad) you want to buy at every single shopping trip, and eventually, the day comes when your faced with gloom and the hard reality that they no longer stock it :( (at this point, I just ask which location carries it - and they are happy to help! OR you are just shite out of luck). Fyi - an employee once mentioned there is a box by the customer service desk where you can write down what you'd like them to carry and they try to accommodate. I could go on & on about the products and savings here...they have some name brand apparel finds I was surprised to see at times...This store is clean, run well, organized and they turn over products quickly which means you will rarely ever see anything past its prime... (that's because everyone and their mother, sister, brother, cousin, 3rd cousin, aunt & uncle shops here). This is my 300th review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about Costco. There's soooooo much happening at Costco. You can get almost anything: Giant muffins? Check Fresh seafood? Check Fresh produce? Check Fresh meat? Check Giant bundles of paper goods? Check Giant boxes of pizza? Check Huge containers of Starbucks coffee? Check Flat Screen HD TVs? Check Anything electronic? Check Retail Giftcards? Check Coffins?! Check Seriously, everything. Most of the stuff is a great deal, too. Arrested Development three season box set? Only $50 and it includes a free t-shirt! There's books, clothes, bulk food, cheap liquor (seriously cheaper than any liquor store I've been to), great fresh deli and produce items, giant boxes of pop, all the edamame you can eat, huge boxes of single serving chips and such for lunches and the largest bottles of shampoo I have ever seen. Most of the things you purchase are cheaper in bulk than if you bought them at Wal Mart or Target, especially the fresh items. There's also a ton of seasonal stuff AND you can get your tires changed for hella cheap. But... be careful! It is important to be a comparison shopper. You need to pay attention to the price per ounce, not the price for a HUMONGOUS box of whatever it is you're buying. It may seem like a good deal, but it is actually sometimes cheaper to buy smaller packages of the same items at Wal Mart than it is to buy the giant one at Costco. If you really want to save the money, you'll bring a pen and paper and do your homework. Also be wary: the parking lot is INSANE. Today, it was seriously like walking around a mad house. There were carts everywhere, it was hard to move around and it can be highly frustrating. Don't lose your cool, everyone is in the same situation. The parking lot was almost full which totally blows because it felt like we had to walk a mile just to get to the door. Seriously, it was even busier today than it was when I went on December 24th last year. How is that possible!? I do love Costco, though. There are great deals and a ton of fun gifts and seasonal items that you can't really get anywhere else. My only concern: how is it possible that every time I go there the Costco Club gas is NEVER cheaper than it is at other gas stations? It was $2.12 today which is the same price as the other gas stations on 22nd street. Odd. read more

DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT BUY anything from Costco that could ever need service under a warranty. Purchased Kenmore washer/dryer in April of 22. Pump went out in December. Had to deal with Sears service for repair. (Sears is a huge part of the problem.) After initial service appt was told pump went out. 8 months? Pump was ordered and delivered to our house. 4 appts were made and cancelled at the end of each day by a text stating "your appt needs to be rescheduled." It was impossible to get anyone by phone for either company to help. After finally reaching someone with Sears, told washer wasn't entered into system correctly. It showed as a cash repair. And cash repairs aren't as important as warranty calls. (Note to self for any future service repairs of products not under warranty.) Once the washer was entered correctly into system it pushed our next appt out even further because it is now under warranty. Ended up paying someone $200 to replace pump. read more

This particular location is small compared to the majority of Costco's that I have shopped at. The parking situation is horrendous...and just getting here because of the traffic around the Oak brook Mall sucks.....BUT wow, they really give a 5 star shopping experience. I was meeting a friend here, otherwise I would not have made the trek. She ended up purchasing a Costco card while waiting for me, so I really didn't need to go after all. I just needed to buy some organic milk. Everyone that shops Costco knows that they give out samples during the daytime. You can literally get fat there if you wanted to. This one was insane. We were treated to mini muffins, taco dip, crab dip with pita chips, carved roast beef, carved turkey, organic cereal and milk, yogurt, ice cream, wonton soup, spanish cheese, veggie chips, nachos, chocolate, buffalo wings, wine, it was mind blowing. It's a good thing that I had on some yoga pants because I would have died if I wore jeans. I ended up spending $250 on stuff that I didn't know that I needed or wanted. I'm at Costco every Saturday morning, like clockwork. It is always crowded, even on weekdays at odd hours, but the savings and quality are undeniable. That being sad, there are several things to optimize your Costco membership. 1) Get the Executive Membership for $100. You get 2% back on EVERYTHING you purchase. So, if you spend $2500/year or about $48/week, you will get $50 back in rewards. That means by only spending $48/week, you will essentially pay the same price as the Gold Star or Business Memberships. And it's easy to spend $50/week. My husband and I alone usually get $60-70 back for our membership. 2) Get the Costco American Express card, which is free with your Executive Membership. You get 3% back on gas, 2% back on restaurants (including fast food and take out), 2% back on travel (hotel, car rental, airfare, etc.), and 1% back everywhere including Costco. My husband usually get $200-$250 back for using this card. So, every year we pay $100 for our Executive Membership and Costco AMEX card, and we receive back in rewards anywhere from $260-320...so yes, we MAKE money off our membership and it's only the two of us! In terms of the best bang for your buck items at Costco: - always fill up your gas tank here, it is always cheaper, and you get the 3% back if you use your Costco AMEX - all non-perishables (cleaning products, detergents, paper towels, toilet paper, canned food, cereal, chips, crackers, etc.) - Costco pizzas - meat - breads - cheeses - clothes (great designer stuff) - electronics (especially computers and TVs) - movies - books Literally, the only thing I would not recommend is their produce, and that's because I don't have a family yet. We can never finish the fruits and veggies before they go bad. All in all, you will save and you will love Costco. read more

This used to be a great store. Costco overall has gone downhill the past year or two. They have gotten away from being a wholesale store catering to business owners and have replaced many staple items (which I always counted on purchasing here) with an ever growing stock of convenience foods and processed packaged items. That's what gas station convenience stores and W@lmart are for! When I shopped tonight and two specific items I'd bought in bulk for years were nowhere to be found- and was told they are now discontinued- I just lost it. I will no longer count on Costco as my one stop shop. My renewal is coming up shortly and I can't see getting $100 worth of inconvenience anymore. Sorry Costco. This is a nice Costco...and trust me, I have been to a Costco or two. I've been to Costco's as a consumer and as a roadshow host. All Costco's have different personalities. This one is friendly and clean with a good variety of products and samples!!! Who are you kidding? Gotta have samples! I like Costco. There's always something new to find when you go. But the problem is if you get used to a certain something being there, it may not always be because the products kind of fluctuate often. And being in a household of two, it's sometimes hard to justify buying some of those large sizes. We just don't need that MUCH. It's probably well-suited for larger families. For parties, they're awesome. And they have some really nice trays and prepped stuff so you don't have to go to all the work. Also? The staff is awesome. Willing to help, going above and beyond.
