Mimosas and egg Benedict
Sophia S.

I had a great time here for brunch. Had the bottomless mimosas and the waitress was on top of it making sure I never found the bottom! I got the eggs Benedict and it was good, it was my first so I can't compare it. My friends got the Greek spaghetti for whatever weird reason and didn't like it - that's on them though for picking that at 11am. Anyways vibes were exactly what I needed.

My boyfriend swears by this place, but to be honest it wasn't great. Food was almost cold, flavorless, and biscuits were barely cooked. Staff was really sweet though

Costa's is my GO TO restaurant with family and friends from out of town. This was my first time going for dinner service and it did NOT disappoint. The server was very kind and came over for our orders right away. I've been here for breakfast before and it was a lot faster service for dinner too. I love the ambiance of Costa's because it feels like such a family cozy restaurant. I think that is something pretty rare in U District. As for the food, I enjoyed it. I got the smoked salmon pasta and it was super creamy and indulgent. I do think it was a bit on the salty side, so there's a warning. I brought home leftovers because the portion was so big. I also got the Lentil Soup as my side for the Pasta and it's vegan and shockingly amazing! The soup was so hearty and everything you want on a winters day. I repeat DO NOT sleep on the lentil soup, SO yummy!!! Finally, I got my favorite thing from costa's, the hot chocolate. It came out 2 minutes after ordering and had a mountain of whipped cream, just how I like it. I know Costa's is more of a breakfast place, but go try it at Dinner and I think you will enjoy!!

California Chicken Sandwich

3rd time here with hubby and step-son and they do not disappoint. This time I tried their cheeseburger and hubby and step-son had the chicken sandwich. Servings were generous. Service was at reasonable wait. Food is reasobly priced. And the place, very conducive for a nice family dinner. Visited also their restroom and it was clean. Service staff is friendly and attentive. Will be back to try other things on their menu.

A great brunch place with huge portions that will leave you full! I personally really like the omelette and scrambles here! The waffle was a little soggy for me because of the fruit sauce so I would get it on the side in the future! Service was good, they often check up on you to make sure everything is to your liking and the lively atmosphere makes Costa's a great place to visit and catch up with friends!

Garden Skillet

Pretty good brunch place in U District! I went here with some friends who were visiting from outside of Seattle and we had a hearty breakfast! There was a little bit of a line for those waiting to be seated when we arrived but it took like 10 minutes for us to be seated. I ended up getting the garden skillet and it was a pretty good portion. I forgot what my friends got but those were also pretty big. I would say Costas is a pretty average breakfast place so if you're looking for some place simple and quick, you should go here!

Strawberry Nutella Crepes

One of my favorite brunch spots in Univ District. Chill ambiance and kind employees create a wonderful atmosphere for brunch, lunch, or dinner! I love the crepes and always get them when I go.

Salmon Benedict

$15.95 bottomless mimosas, all day every day!! Need I say more?! Costa's specializes in breakfast food and our unusually generous portions of Swedish pancakes, eggs, bacon and salmon benedict were solidly good. Service was attentive and laid back and our table was next to one of the huge plants that gave this casual place personality. This is not the most high quality or fanciest food you'll ever eat, but it sure is satisfying and their huge menu has something for everyone. Come here if you're craving a hearty, inexpensive meal on the Ave.

Souvlaki Combo Plate

This is one of the prettiest places on the ave! It's a great date (or solo date!) spot for breakfast and lunch. I had the souvlaki plate and I was impressed! The meat was very well seasoned and they give you pita, tzatziki, salad and rice on the side! The portion size is very generous - it fills you up if you're hungry and if you're not, you'll have some delicious leftovers to look forward to! The waitress was such a sweet and smiling person, and checked in on me several times. She was very helpful when it came to ordering and I really loved my experience here, it's amazing when people share the joy of food! I will be coming back, I've heard the pastas are really good so I've got to test this for myself!

Greek Vegetarian Scramble and Country Fried Steak and Eggs

All-day breakfast & bottomless mimosas? I'm in! Costa's has a very extensive menu with multiple pages of breakfast items. The food comes out quickly, the staff is very attentive, and the portions are HUGE. Our bottomless mimosas were refilled multiple times and topped off without us having to ask. I absolutely loved the Greek vegetarian scramble - loaded with veggies and olives!! I could only finish half at the restaurant but ate the rest as soon as I got home. I have also gone for lunch and the veggie burger & lentil soup were also tasty. Overall, a cute little restaurant with good food. Will be back again for more bottomless mimosas

Quesadilla with Chicken
Generous Y.

I've always walked past Costa's and brushed it off because the exterior is underwhelming, but once I entered I was pretty shocked at the interior being spacious, plant-filled, and cozy. Really great spot to catch up with friends. Needless to say, I was very impressed with Costa's and sad I hadn't discovered this spot earlier in my college experience. Portions are large, costs are fairly low for the sizes, and food is tasty. For starters, I was overwhelmed by the menu. I wanted breakfast (country fried steak) yet Italian is always amazing. Then there were burgers and sandwiches which also sounded solid for the day. I ended up opting to try a Quesadilla and the Chicken Pesto while my friend got the Souvlaki. Quesadilla - as an appetizer, I did not expect much but was then surprised with 8 slices of a chicken quesadilla. This alone would've been a great meal for one. The edges weren't filled the best, but the rest of the quesadilla was packed with chicken, cheese, and assorted vegetables. The emptier edges were fantastic with pasta sauce though. Chicken Pesto - I'm not sure what this was called exactly on the menu, but I suppose it's fairly new as I couldn't find it on past pictures. I believe it was simply Chicken Pesto though. All the pasta dishes come with two pieces of garlic bread that are best used to soak up the sauce. Pesto and garlic bread was a really fantastic combination. Not to mention the fettucine being so creamy with tender chicken pieces. I absolutely loved this. Souvlaki - now this is a healthier choice very well rounded with a Greek salad, rice, pita bread, and meat. Would have loved some more saucy contents for the pita bread, it paired decently with the Greek salad. Then the skewer had tender meat that paired well with the rice. Overall, this entree is very filling.

I really did not like this place. My spaghetti tasted bizarrely of orange and my salad was very poor quality. Not a fan.

Just did a visit to Lola for their Seattle Restaurant Week dinner, and at $50 per person, I think…read morethis is one of the better deals out there. The amount of food was insane even our server said it was a lot of food! The first course alone could have been a meal. Pita bread with six different spreads just look at the picture! I expected maybe three or four. They explained everything, and I retained almost none of it. All I know is that everything tasted really good! This also came with a very generous portion of Greek salad. That was just round one. Next came the salmon and chicken kebabs, with generous chunks of protein served sizzling. They poured liquid over them at the table to make them sizzle even more, which was a neat touch. Both were very good, and the caramelized onions were great. The spreads from the first course also made excellent toppers for the salmon and chicken. By the third course, we were already getting full, but out came the leg of lamb. I had pictured us having to tackle something bone-in, so I appreciated that it arrived nicely sliced. Tender, cooked perfectly, and very little fat. It came with generous portions of small, partly mashed potatoes and some really good greens. I'm not entirely sure what the greens were, but we enjoyed them! For the fourth course, we chose a blackberry ginger sorbet that wasn't listed on the menu. I also ordered a Prosecco to enjoy with dinner. We ended up taking home three boxes because there was simply no way we could finish everything. Such an amazing Seattle Restaurant Week deal! Service was fantastic, and the pacing was nice. My friend and I stayed a little afterward to chat, and we never felt rushed, even though the restaurant was very busy. Great ambiance and a really enjoyable evening. I'll definitely be back to try their brunch!

Unfortunately, on arriving, there was a mix-up and we had to wait 20-25 mins to get our table. We were a large party (10 people) but still, it was quite a long wait. The manager offered us some free wine and apologized for making us wait. We did enjoy the rest of the night with the huge ensemble of meals and drinks Lola had to offer. Our servers were also extremely nice and polite and quite accommodating to our big dinner party. I really liked the ambience of the restaurant: dimly lit, elegant and cozy with an open kitchen towards the back side. Ordered a lot of different items amongst all of us: Mushroom Skewers (was quite tasty) Saganaki (not a big fan of this.. I didn't like the sweet and cheese together) grilled octopus (I am not a big fan of octopus, but tried what my colleague ordered, and I quite liked it) Doughnuts with mascarpone and Jam (star of the night) Coconut cream pie (also amazing) There was another dessert, I don't recall the name of it but it was peach with chocolate mascarpone (didn't like this one as much as the other two) Overall, had a great time at Lola despite the wait time hiccup, the service, food, ambience were top-notch!

My friend and I went to Homer with the haphazard plan of doing double dinner -- aka Homer for small bites + cocktails at 5 pm followed by dinner reservations elsewhere at 8:30 pm. Was this foolish? Oh yes, absolutely; but was it a delicious evening? Also yes. We were here on a Saturday night so tried to arrive a bit early to line up and lord have mercy because...there was a healthy line of ~25-30 people ahead of us at 4:45 pm. We were sweating bullets that we wouldn't make the first seating, but a few of the larger groups ahead of us gave up given the wait times and we were able to grab a table for 2! The interior is inviting, cozy, and can fit a decent amt of people without feeling too crowded. Drinks wise, we got the gt & t (green tea gin, lemongrass tonic, lime) and the snap pea margarita -- both of which were good, but not great. We really tried to restrain ourselves food wise given the 8:30 pm dinner reservations but gosh it was HARD. We got the set of 3 spreads, the summer tomatoes with black garlic, and the summer melon & caramelized halloumi. Good lord the spreads were SO good with our fave being the summer squash and cashew dip with red chili oil and sesame. The tomatoes were delicious too but the unexpected star for us was the summer melon & halloumi! Such a good play on salty, sweet, tangy -- would 100% get it again and...I don't even like melon very much LOL We didn't finish all of the above so we would have stomach space for our next spot but it was difficult to stop ourselves for sure. Given how hyper-seasonal the menu is, I am totally and absolutely ready to go back and try other items! Prices are definitely fair for quality, taste, and the exemplary service we received.

I'd recommend getting there early and explored the neighborhood while you wait. The restaurant was a bit loud so it's a little hard to chat with big group. We chose the Family Feast option, which came with 3 course of food, desserts. This option is fantastic for big group to share, as well as to try different menu items without having to choose. They brought out a lot of food for each course, and pack up whatever we didn't finish for us to take home. Since their menu changes often, it was a great experience for both first-timers and guests who have been before, to try seasonal menu items. Our first course consisted of 3 dips, grilled medjool dates, anchovies with sourdough, and unlimited pita bread. All of the dips were delicious, and the grilled medjool dates were one of my favorites of the meal. Our second course were summer tomatoes, shaved kohlrabi, and grilled little gems salad with nectarines, and dill emulsion dressing. All of them were so refreshing, and the flavors were on point. The summer tomatoes were sweet. We were already pretty full at this point. Our third course were roasted chicken with chili-fruit paste, and grilled pork with rainier cherry. The chicken was super tender, the chili-fruit paste was not spicy, just the right amount of sweet and spicy. The grilled pork was tender and sweet, it was definitely one of my favorites. Desserts were ice cream and warm cookie with sweet cream. It was absolutely tasty and a great end to the meal. Our server was very attentive and nice. We didn't feel rushed during our time dining here. Overall, the restaurant was super worth the long wait, and I love all the dishes I tried that day.

Which was part of the reason I visited a few weeks ago. I actually have been wanting to try Yalla for awhile, and just recently figured where it was located. A bit out of my way from work and home, but the day I decided to go was perfect. I was meeting friends at Sake Nomi which doesn't serve food so you're allowed to bring some in. I had two hours to waste so it gave me plenty of time to get up to Capitol Hill and back to Pioneer Square. Yalla is a walk up window with a bench outside to sit but I imagine most people take the food to go. I was sharing the food with five other people so the three mezze dips was the perfect option, I also added the special dip of the day that had 100% proceeds going to help those in Nepal. I also added one of the pressed Saj, the grilled Kefta a lot easier to share. One of my friends wanted the Lamb wrap so that was included in the order as well. Love how fresh the ingredients were. Each dip had distinctively different flavors and textures. Saj was included two different ways to enjoy with the mezze in its soft flatbread form and as a cracker perfect for dipping. My favorites were the Muhummara and the Nuraniye (Zuchinni Dip). I liked the tanginess of the Muhummara and the fresh lemon forward of the Nuraniye. The Kefta was delicious, I need to carry a knife for situations like this when sharing food we ended up ripping off pieces this came with Labneh. Ended up sampling 3 of their wrap options and the Zaatar Wrap was deliciously nutty and fragrant, but texturally there was so many herbs that the center ate a little dry. The Lahme Khuruf (Lamb) was my favorite by far with super juicy ground meat with some tang from the labneh, sweetness, freshness from the tomato, and texture from the pine nuts. Absolute home run on this one! The Awarma and Cheese was a close second, but personally, the flavor profile was just a little less interesting than the lamb. Tip: grab some extra napkins as the wraps can fall apart a bit at the end!
