It's Costa Vida so the food is pretty good, hence the one star. The reason for the missing 4 stars is the service. I walked in and there was only one person ahead of me, and for me to even order took easily 10 minutes. The guy was just plain slow at putting stuff in the tortilla. It's not like he was trying to go fast but was new, he just didn't care. The couple behind me actually walked out the door cause it was so bad ha. The weird thing is there were at least 6 workers doing random things behind the counter. Not sure what they were doing, but whatever it was, it wasn't helping. After reading other reviews, looks like this slow pace work force is an expected daily occurrence. How has the manager/owner not read these reviews and properly trained his crew? Foolish. This was first experience at Costa Vida And was pleasantly surprised. They have reasonable prices and a good selection including daily specials with include a drink for $7.99! I had the shrimp Baja Bowl for $9.99. It was very good but I would've liked larger shrimp with more flavor. The interior is decorated with a California coastal theme which is very nice. Horrible customer service. Really slow and totally unconcerned with the customers well being. Food sits on the counter while employees trade stories and jokes. The food is good, very good. Service also very good. I would imagine it is hard to go wrong with any selection here, however. The atmosphere is not as cowabunga as the decor would suggest. They have the worst acoustics (which is why 4 instead of 5). Do not expect to have an intimate conversation unless you happen to be the only customers here. We basically couldn't talk to each other at all. And even as the crowd thinned there was music and a loud-ass fan. It felt just as noisy. Do expect a line. Do expect to have your servers shouting at you and having to shout back. (It's a chipotle type setup where you pick your crap and they slop it together, but a bit more involved and with a wider selection of mexi options). I would not recommend going to Costa vida because my order completely wrong they forgot all the stuff for the salad they only put the sour cream on it and the meat on it and they made my nachos with the wrong meat and didn't give us all the sides for it either the only thing that was right was the kids meal and if I could I wouldn't even put 1 star read more

The Costa Vida here in Elko is one of my favorite places for quick and consistently good Mexican food. They make the tortillas and all the other fixings fresh, and the ingredients seem to be good quality. My favorite item on the menu is the Fajita Burrito. I only give 4 stars because the service can get really slow when there are a lot of orders. This seems to happen especially on the weekends when there are a lot of travelers passing through. The problem isn't the amount of orders, it's the lack of organization on the prep line. It sometimes seems like there are people trying to run more than one station, or constantly change station position so orders get disorganized or inappropriately prepped. I was so unpleasantly surprised at the awful experience I had. While ordering (there was no line... apparently locals have caught on that this is not the best place for Mexican food) the very polite server kept asking "do you want _____ for a little extra?" so by the time I got to the register, my overpriced $7 burrito was $10 and still did not taste as good as the ones I can get at ANY taco truck ANYWHERE. The customer service was great and all of the employees seemed to enjoy their job. The restaurant was very clean too. However, the food was not authentic at all. It's like another Chipotle chain. Their dishes were way too sweet! It was really strange because meat should not be sweet and the meat was in dire need of seasoning. One star, because zero isn't an option. My sister and I stopped here on our way through town figuring "how bad can it be?" You know, it's Mexican food, it hard to screw up, but they still manage. The food simply has no flavor and is extremely overpriced for what you get. On they upside, they have clean bathrooms. I highly recommend checking out the coffee shop across the lot instead. I've been here a couple of times. The service is pretty good for the volume of people that hit this place up at noon. The food is muh at best, the sweet pork pretty good but the steak was way over done and charred. I thought I broke a tooth at one point. Stopped today on our way across Nevada... Read reviews that it was slow/ long wait but we went anyway. I can only take so much road trip McDonald's, ya know? So we get there at 1105 to eat lunch, (noon our time) and was excited we had missed the crowds. No one was in line. Well it didn't matter! Was passing through town and decided to grab a salad here. As I walked up to the front doors, a worker happened to be outside and gave me a friendly greeting and asked how my day was. She held the door open for me and I proceeded to walk up to the counter. I was quickly greeted there and the service was very quick and just perfect. The checkout was even better. The girl engaged in some friendly conversation and even complimented me on my bag and shirt. It left me with a smile on my face to say the least. Worst service I've ever had! The sauce for the burritos was glazed over due to being stale. I asked for a wheat tortilla and you would have thought I asked for them to walk to the store to get it! The manager was super rude when we told them we had an iPhone coupon for completing the survey. She argued with us for five minutes over needing a receipt to go with it! We have never had to show a receipt! We asked for five cups for water, they charged us .10 per cup for water! Unbelievable! I'm surprised they didn't charge us for a fork and napkins! After we left, my wife noticed they overcharged us for a two taco meal when my wife had one taco. Don't waste your money here! I know I won't again! I've enjoyed every experience I've had at this Costa Vida location, with the exception of this visit. This visit made me feel like I was an inconvenience to them due to my walking in the door 10 minutes before closing, and I felt like they threw my order together. My order wasn't what i wanted either. They told me it would be easiest for them if i ordered a burrito bowl. Who does that? Then the order was placed in a bag to go. My suggestion, if you want to have no customers in your restaurant at 8:50 pm, close earlier. If you're going to be open at 8:50 and accept my money, give me the same dining experience as if I walked in the door 1 minute after opening or midday. I heard the phrase "you have 10 minutes" 3 times in less than 30 seconds. I am absolutely certain if the owners of this location were present I would have been treated likes guest, allowed to order whatever was on the menu, and allowed to eat while they restaurant was being closed down.
