Supercuts has gone up in price, though, in the past few years. It's now $25 for a dry cut. I don't do wet cuts cause they come out shorter than you would like. I mostly need a trim or face frame. If I do splurge on hair, it's for color, and I go somewhere else for that. I haven't colored my hair in 2-3 years. It's been anywhere from balayage silver/gray, rose gold/pink, purple to chocolate brown. My usual stylist left the Supercuts in Spring that I would normally go to when working or visiting family. I'm glad there's one near me in the city. There's plenty of parking at the Washington Ave. location. It shares a lot with other businesses and is next door to the specialty pet store Natural Pawz. The inside is bigger and very clean. There's one unisex restroom. I made an appointment online which was easy. I checked in when I got there and didn't have to wait long as she finished with a client. Jacque was wonderful. She listened to what I wanted which was to keep my face frame length and cut 3 inches off straight across. My hair is to my waist, so even with that much cut off, it's still fairly long. Goodbye to the final remnants of my blond hair that I grew out from the last coloring 2-3 years ago. Jacque was so easy to talk to, and we discussed our work interests and experiences with special education. I will definitely continue to come back to this location for haircuts with Jacque. But I got talked into a haircut on top of it because the stylist thought there was too much of a shelf to my layers. So, I rolled with it. And not only did he cut off entirely too much length, but he left one side of my hair about two inches shorter than the other. The toner mess was another issue. The shop is decorated nicely and they have shampoo bowls and dryers. They also have a small sitting area in the front and also its chairs all throughout the salon. The restroom is always clean and well stocked. I just don't like the long drive I have to take to get here, and since their building is jointed with other establishments parking can be a joke. The parking lot isn't paved, so look out for the potholes. The only reason I keep coming back to this location is only because of my beautician Gail has my hair looking really good. For perms, its $100, for color its $100, to clip ends its $15, and for protein treatment its $20. But for virgin long hair: wash, blow, straighten it is about $75. Since me and my sister always go together it is about $150. I guess if you really want good looking manageable hair, its going to have a huge price tag on it. As we all know, nothing is as personal as the one we turn to make ourselves feel better, our hairdresser. They make us look pretty and listen to our thoughts. Purely by happen chance, I met the owner of Qua Salon, Kelly; in our neighborhood, she was always friendly. Noting a couple key commonalities we shared, and the location of the salon, I decided to give her a try with my hair. In the past 5 years, I had been using HRT with pellet insertions, causing my hair to completely change in texture and appearance, NOT in a good way...It became extremely dry, frizzy and uncontrollably kinky, thus a huge challenge for anyone. QUA's standard hair products in use are Kerastase; which I had already found to be ideal product for my current hair needs. Through my own investigative findings, the orange/salmon colored packaging of Kerastase for Anti-frizz was the product for me...It is a game changer! Then coupled with Kelly's amazing haircut, my hair is beginning to become WAY more normal. After my first visit with Kelly and my first shampooing on my own, my hair is transitioning...The haircut is perfect and her directive on how to use the products most effectively, has left me thrilled and hopeful my hair future is in excellent hands.
