I found this spot after having a horrible experience at another salon! I went on a hunt for the BEST color specialist in town and I found that in therapy hair! Lilly and her assistant laura were godsends. They made me feel comfortable and looked at the mess another salon (I had asked for a caramel balayage at the other salon and gotten bleached yellow chunky highlights that washed me out and made look older ) had created and reassured me they could fix it. They not only fixed my hair but made me feel confident again and made me understand what products will help keep my hair looking fresh! I highly recommend this salon to everyone. read more

I have been going to Kelsey for over a year now. I first decided to book a consultation with her after deciding that I wanted extensions. The salon I had been going to wanted to charge me over $1,000 for Hot Heads. I just thought that was too ridiculous and wanted to see what other salons charged. The first time I met Kelsey she struck me as very knowledgable. She told me all about the type and color of extensions that would look best on me, and she was also shocked at the price I was quoted by my former salon. Her price was half of what I was quoted. I absolutely loved my extensions after getting them in, and have been going to Kelsey ever since. She does great color, and has recommended some really good products (Kevin Murphy! Woo!). I think she's actually one of the best hair girls I've ever had, and I have lived a lot of places. My hair looks fantastic, and I always get complimented on how healthy and shiny it is. As for the salon in general, I really appreciate that it lacks the snobbery of other Houston salons. Its actually very laid back for a high-end salon. All in all, I highly recommend Kelsey. Therapy Hair Salon is amazing! I get my color done with Kelsey, my hair cut and Blow dry with Suli and my makeup with Jahan. To be honest I am happy to get my hair blown out by anyone in the Salon. They all do a fab job. My children get their haircut here also. I must mention that Mary washes my hair and massages my scalp so well I dose off. Cynthia, the receptionist always goes above and beyond to get me in on the days I need. Let me start off by saying, I am the girl that used to wash her face with her shampoo in the shower for years. Just within the past couple of years I have gotten started with a face cleansing/moisturizing regime as I've gotten older. I booked a facial with Jahan and have never been more impressed! We did Dermaplanning, O2 Facial, and light therapy. Her attention to detail was admirable and she was so gentle and thorough. So after all the referrals and reading good reviews I have decided to give this place a try.. I called and asked for an appointment for a hair cut with Suli and agreed on April 28th at 4:45pm. I made all my arrangements with work, scheduled my meetings and etc.. All good.. A couple minutes ago, a girl from the front desk called and said "we need to change your appointment." I asked why.. And here is the response: "because new clients need at least an hour but now you have 45 mins. So we can put you in for 9:15am". So from 4:45 pm to all the way to 9:15am?? Sorry, what?!! I called you, told you this was going to be my first time, made an appointment, based on our conversation I made my other plans, promised my clients and because I relied on what you said I am being punished and having to reschedule my whole day. Never had a situation like this. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! VERY RUDE! Even the way she talked to me was like "I don't really care if it doesn't work for you, you gotta pick what I say". You don't see this attitude even at a doctor's office.. Who do you think you are?! A business is good as long as there are new clients coming and becoming regular. I've trusted my hair (and coloring) to first class salons in Miami, NY, and SF, so when I was in a bind and needed a cut and bit of ombre coloring, I hesitated getting my hair done in Houston (where I'd be visiting my mom). No offense to Texas, but I'm more rock 'n' roll than country ;) Nevertheless, I went for it and trusted my mom's recommendation with Therapy. After all, I have fine and wavy brown hair with a sweet cowlick in the bang area. It's not exactly unruly, but I do appreciate a quality coif. I walked in and found a super modern, sleek salon with all the stations full. The stylists were über hip and adorable and then I met the precious and meticulous Marvin, my colorist. He got to work foiling my hair and with every strand he brushed with color, he did some kind of opposite brushing technique so the color would blend rather than show up as a stark line between my natural color and the ombre. Next up, Zuli took care of the cutting and kept it long and layered like I asked. He worked quickly and precisely and didn't do that thing where they start cutting off more and more until you're minus 5 inches instead of 1. I loved my color and double loved my cut. The Marvin/Zuli team managed to enhance my look while keeping it looking totally natural and sun-kissed. This salon is top notch and uses Kérastase products (awesome). I walked out with amazing hair and feel proud to say I travel all the way from Brazil to get my hair cut in Houston. Highly recommended. read more

Therapy Salon deserves a GOLD MEDAL. MY daughter's hair was destroyed by a so called keratin treatment. Turns out a Japanese straightener was out on her hair over another straightener and I specifically told the jerk to test her hair and that it is fragile and can't handle anything Afro g. He insisted on this treatment that made my daughter's hair break off in large chunks. 14 years old and went from having long gorgeous locks to a crooked fried bob! 100% disagree with Megan H. There is no way Kelsey is responsible for her damage. Could be that she herself was not taking care of it. My experience with Kelsey has been the opposite. She is, first of all, a caring individual who has done everything to make sure my daughter gets in to see her and is happy with the outcome. We have had to use tape in extensions for months. No 14 year old wants tape in extensions, unless she is some sort of celebrity. She wants her own hair that she does not have to worry about coming untaped! Well, everytime Ana has needed to come in, Kelsey has made herself available. She has stayed late to accommodate her school schedule. She has made sure my daughter does not have to see herself without them on, by taking one out and putting one in when reinstalling. A week ago, My daughter was upset because Kelsey went to short, because I instructed her to do so and fit her in the very next day after school to remedy the situation. We went to the beach for spring break and her hair was blended and gorgeous. Her hair is growing out so healthy. Better than before. If anything, Kelsey is responsible for helping a 14 year old girl. She is a a true "therapist" mentally and for the hair!! I love her. And Chole is an angel. She not only washes hair but is always making herself available and asking if I need anything. She makes a delicious cappuccino. She is amazing! Assists everyone when they need her and always with s big smile!!! Then there is Lilly, my colorist, who a few years ago took me from dark flat color to gorgeous brown with dimension. Same. Alwys cares and goes the extra mile to make sure I am pleased. She has transformed my hair completely. And the front desk--they rock. Always accommodating me via their text line. I came in for the first time for a hair cut. I was really nervous about chopping off 8 inches of my hair, so I did a lot of research and chose Therapy Hair studio for this major change. I am so glad I did!! The receptionist was very friendly and helpful when I first called in. I told her a little bit about me and my hair goals and she put me down with Casey. Casey is a great listener and easy to talk to. Plus, she did an AMAZING job cutting my hair! I have received so many compliments, is shocking. I was having a total hair crisis....I have a wedding coming up in a month and it isn't as long as I wanted it and I literally dealt with it looking like garbage for months because I was too afraid I wouldn't be able to do anything with it for the wedding! I made an appointment with Tim at Therapy Hair Studio and I cannot even begin to tell you how relieved I was! I brought some pictures of some ideas and he took them and ran with it. Nothing had been done with my hair at this point, just natural frizz curls and mousse, but he was just doing some mock-ups of what could be done and I was blown away with how great it looked without even being really worked! Now, with thin, wavy, and mostly frizzy hair, it's challenging to find styles you like....but I really wanted bangs. He not only gave me the cutest f'ing hairstyle I've ever had, but he also took the time to show me how to style it and manage it to look great all the time! I always look forward to coming here to get my hair done. It's nice to have the receptionists remember you by name, as you walk in, greeting you with a warm smile. I'm stunned. I've been going to the salon for 6 years at least, and within the last month had two screw ups with appointments. The first, the salon took responsibility for, the second was entirely my fault just had the wrong time by 15 minutes. In response, I get an email saying all my future appointments have been canceled and that they refuse to provide me any other services. What?? I visited therapy hair salon every two weeks that's 26 times a year, and I was always on time. In addition, I purchased hair products, candles and even a hair dryer. Therapy Hair salon was a major part of my life! That relationship was ended over an email and for getting an appointment time wrong?? I called and asked my stylist of all these years, Kelsey, to at least talk to me and explain why they were cutting me off. Of course she couldn't be bothered to call me back nor anyone else. This is how they treat long-term clients. David and Luis, this is not how you run a business. The arrogance is amazing. I thought I'd least let people know. The salon can screw up and they have, charging me the wrong price more than once or with appointments... but be aware you are not allowed to screw up! P.S. I had been going here for a little over a year, but I am no longer a customer here. This is solely because my fave and most loved stylist has gone elsewhere. Although, I may return if the new salon doesn't meet my standards. I had been going to the same stylist in Dallas for 10 years. After spending time out of the country, I moved to Houston and went to 4 other salons before finding this gem. Originally, I was NOT impressed with the reception staff, but they definitely turned that around when they hired a new woman around March? Their response and ability to work customers in has been fantastic ever since. They also recently hired a new assistant at the hair washing stations. She's amazing, gives a great head massage and very interesting to talk to. There is ONLY ONE REASON I'm not giving them 5 stars and that's because the mood/service at the salon was always different. My stylist always had a great attitude (but that's why I always went to the same person), but the reception staff and other assistants were hit or miss (excluding the male receptionist, his name slips my mind at the moment, who was always helpful and fun to talk to). Some days when I arrived I loved being there and everyone was just so helpful from offering a drink right when you entered to getting you situated while you waited. Other times, people would barely bat an eye when you walked in and a few times, after checking in with the receptionist and changing, an assistant/receptionist would come over to ask me who I was there to see (even though I had just spoke to them). In terms of hair stylists - they are by far superb and although I only saw the same stylist every time all the others there always seemed very knowledgable and great at what they do! I'd love to review this place - but unfortunately I was completely forgotten about. I called for a consultation today, I got an appointment to come in and then proceeded to sit for an hour. No one bothered to check on me, nothing. Then finally when I went back to the front counter - I was told that they "forgot to tell the stylist" who was now fully booked. So they had no room for me. I was really hoping to commit to a new stylist and salon today. Super disappointed and pretty angry that I was fully ignored. Not a good way to get new clients. read more

I would not go back. I felt like I was being herded through as quickly as possible. My colorist was doing 2 people's hair at once. Which I guess happens, but I usually go to nicer salons and pay more to get one on one service. After he was done putting the color on my hair, he asked if I could go sit on the bench so his next client could have the chair. So I sat on the bench in the middle of the room with foils on my hair. He came back and peeked at my hair and then sent me to have it washed. I then moved on to the stylist who would be cutting my hair. The colorist never came back to see how the color turned out. I got blonde highlights and I can still see a horizontal line and tell where the new color meets the old. I can see the layers cut into the bottom of my hair. They do not blend in. I expected more from a salon like this. If I go to Great Clips (or another bargain chain hair salon) and get a poor hairstyle I think, "ok well at least it was cheap and it'll do" but I spent a lot of money here. I don't doubt that the stylists here are very talented, and maybe I just went on a very busy day--it was 3 days before Christmas. One more thing to consider is you have to give them your credit card number to hold your appointment and if you don't cancel 24 hours in advance, they charge you full price. I guess I can see why they do this; I've just never done this in the past for hair appointments. I didn't complain while I was there because I can never tell how a new hair color looks until I get outside and have time to really look at it. I may call back and see if they can even up the color so the top of my hair matches the bottom half. Maybe I needed to be more specific about wanting the top and bottom of my hair to match. I have attached 3 pictures of the final result. I'm disappointed I was so looking forward to trying this salon. read more

I wish I could give Therapy Hair 100 stars!!! I've been going to Lilli for color and Sulli for haircuts for about 12 years, in fact our whole family goes to them. I'm as high maintenance as it gets, I have never had anything less than perfection every single time. $60 to trim 1/2 inch off and blow dry my kid's hair??? I could have done the same at home! My expectations were clearly stated: cut 2 to 3 inches but also help me learn how to keep her wavy hair manageable. 20 minutes later: a half inch cut off, which made no difference at all and a blow dry pretty much equal to what I usually do at home. As for advice: even though I probed, I got none, just stupid statements like "yeah, kids, they come home, they're all sweaty, what can you do?" ... yeah, ok, thanks.
