I tried to color my hair myself at home and it went terribly wrong. I had strips of dark color across it and my roots were yellow. I came in and saw Ira and let me tell you... MIRACLE WORKER. My hair looks absolutely amazing. She is a genius with color correction and nailing exactly what I was originally trying to do. I highly recommend you go see her for all of your hair needs. My hair feels/looks amazing, there was no damage with correcting the color (if anything, my hair feels healthier) and she is so wonderful to work with. read more

I got my hair done a couple days ago, shampoo, cut, style and dry. It was by faaar thee best cut and experience I've ever had!! Michelle was my stylist. She was super sweet and kept me entertained the whole time! I absolutely adore her. She was very easy to talk to, and to relate to. I'm not too big a fan of stylists who just do small talk. This is the best salon I've been to in the Galleria area! I was able to get an appointment quickly, the salon was modern and well kept, and the cost was reasonable and corresponded with the quality of the experience. Jenny Silvestri was my hairstylist and she did an amazing job. I have really fine long hair so I have to get the perfect cut to produce any body/volume. I showed her a picture of a layered cut and let her do her thing. Friendly staff in an okay location. The only reason I came to Kharisma was to pick up a Kerastase item. I called ahead of time to numerous other salons in the area who were closed or didn't answer. Kharisma has excellent staff in that they immediately picked up and assured me they had the product. Unfortunately, their shelves are lined with Kerastase products that are outdated or were discontinued over three years ago. I don't know why they keep old products in stock like that or if they're even real because the product I purchased immediately felt different with a strong scent. It caused scalp irritation so I purchased the same product online and the irritation went away. So I'm apprehensive of what Kharisma keeps in stock but based on how great the front desk staff were, I'm sure the other people working at the salon are awesome. read more

I tried Kharisma for the first time a couple of years ago on the advice of a friend, and at the time was relatively unimpressed. I paid for a cut/style/partial highlights and a scalp treatment, and they skipped the scalp treatment because the professional who performed that service was unavailable that day... even though it was included in the charge for my appointment. They said that I could apply it to my next visit. Well, that never happened. On my return visit, they seemed to have lost those records and would not honor that promise. So, I walked out. Now, fast forward to the present. One would think that after my previous experiences with Kharisma that I would never have set foot in their salon again. However I decided to give them another change when I purchased a Groupon for $50 for a cut/style and highlights package. Unfortunately, I managed to let my Groupon expire. BUT... according to Groupon, the face value of the amount paid never expires and can be applied toward your next purchase. However, when I tried to make a new appointment and apply the $50 toward the total experience, I was told by the manager of Kharisma that they do not honor or respect the Groupon guarantee. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! With so many high-end salons in Houston such as Azur, Azur West, Ceron and others, there is absolutely no reason to waste your time or money at Kharisma. read more

I had been bouncing from stylist to stylist for quite some time in Sugar Land and was told about Karisma in Houston by a friend. I wasn't sure who to go to so I read about the different stylist on their website as they have a lovely detailed site that lists each stylists experience and training. I chose Naz based on her training and availability. I was welcomed by the receptionist and the wait was minimal. Naz provided a fantastic consultation that was thouough and answered all my questions professionally. I felt comfortable with her from the start as she seemed to understand what I was trying to achieve with my color and she took the time explain to me the steps we needed to take to get my there. There were tears of joy when saw how she transformed my hair into something that I was completely overjoyed with. It has been years that I could feel excited about my hair. I have been going to her ever since and am equally thrilled every time with not just her color but her cuts are fantastic as well. She is worth the 20-30 minute drive from Sugar land to the Galleria area. I can highly recommend her!! The salon is always clean and the staff very professional. I am in my 60s and got the WORST hair color and haircut ever in my whole life by Melina. I went in with beautiful hair, and an already beautiful hair style. I asked for lowlights to be pulled lightly through my beautiful natural blonde hair, and she proceeded to dye my whole hair dark as a brown crayon! My hair has never been touched by dye with full color in my whole life. On top of that, I got the worst haircut of my whole life. She cut the whole top of my hair in 2 inch layers, on top of my two foot long hair! Additionally, she put another client on top of mine seating her just a foot away. The client wouldn't shut up! Not once did Melina talk to me about my needs, what I wanted, and absolutely ignored talking about how I wanted my haircut. She could have cared less about the picture I reminded her of. She was very uncaring with me. She had the nerve to charge me $375. Please be aware of Melina. She has been in the business for 50 years, and still cutting hair back in the 60s. My stylist is fine, except that the type of extensions she was putting in don't work for my hair. I was spending a fortune constantly getting them put back in because they were coming out way too soon. I asked to talk to Debbie about getting a different kind of extensions put in my hair by a different stylist who had experience with the different kind. I asked her to please give me some sort of discount based on the amount of time and money I had spent getting the extensions constantly put back in. She said no, gave me a lesson about how you never know how something foreign will perform on your hair, that the lady who does them is the only one in Houston, and THEN proceeded to give me a lesson on supply and demand!!! First of all, this an "ok" salon, trying to be a top salon in the galleria. It is NOT, there are much better salons in the area that charge about the same and give MUCH better customer service, with more skilled stylists. Also, there are many extensionists in Houston who do all types of extensions. I found someone fabulous at another salon. Debbie needs to learn what customer service is if she wants to even come close to top salons in the area that charge similar prices. I've been taught that the customer is always right, and that you will be successful if you treat them that way. She could have offered me a small discount and an apology, but she instead chose to give me a lecture. My hard-earned money and I will now be going to another salon to spend THOUSANDS on extensions, and my stylist lost a client thanks to her! read more

I'll admit I was a little nervous coming here: I'm a 25 year-old male who has spent his adult life going to the local $12 cut barbershop. I finally got tired of having my hair DECIMATED every single time I got a cut so I decided to try a salon. I had no idea what to expect - I called on Saturday and they actually had a few openings within the hour. I told them I didn't care who my stylist was. I ended up with Claudia. The first thing she did after greeting me was take the time to ask me what I wanted my hair to look like, what sort of things I like, what I don't like. She was very patient and made sure I felt like she had a good understanding of what I wanted. She also explained the process of the haircut and why she was going to do certain things (I have a receding hairline and wanted an undercut, sort of a challenge). She was also extremely personable and friendly and provided for a nice chat. The cut I ended up with was AWESOME. I had showed Claudia a picture of my 'ideal haircut' and she matched it. She's the kind of stylist who takes into account her client's look and specific needs and how to best make the cut work for the client...this is in stark contrast to a lot of barbers/stylists who will simply cut your hair in a certain style, regardless of your jawline, the shape of your face, your hairline, etc. I'll definitely be going back and asking for Claudia. Many of the other reviewers have complained about the price. I paid $50 for my haircut. Kharisma is a salon. You are paying for a specific caliber of service and atmosphere. If you want a $12 haircut I can recommend a barbershop...just don't expect your cut to look good. read more

Having traveled quite a bit and needing to get my hair cut in different parts of the country, I think I can fairly say that Kharisma is a low end cuttery trying to be a high end salon. And fails miserably. The salon was messy and over crowded.. granted they looked like they were going through renovations, but that is no excuse to provide bad customer service and even worse products to be used on your clients. The salon sells BB products in the lobby, but uses some cheap convenient store crap to wash your hair and style your do afterwards. My hair dresser was grumpy from the minute she came out to the lobby to receive me right until the minute I left. We barely exchanged more than a few sentences in conversation besides me having to tell her what I wanted (not her asking what I was in there to do today?) Im new in town, and told her as soon as we started so she knew that I was dealing with very different climatic conditions, but she did little to continue the conversation or offer solutions or products on how to tame my locks..which could have a major selling point. Upon checkout I mentioned the $25 discount that yelp says to inform the salon of in case its your first time going there, but they completely refuted the offer. I was charged $95 for the cut instead of the $85 they have listed on their own website, and $20 in tip instead of the $10 that I told her to add to my card (because of the poor service.. im not normally a bad tipper). It would have been more hassle for me to try and get my $10 refunded to my credit card than it was worth so I left. But needless to say I will not be returning to this place. So a $120 later I walked out with a rather mediocre haircut and an unpleasant service experience. read more

I had to go to someone new because my normal hair stylist was out. He did not listen at all to what I wanted and by the time I realized how much damage he had done, it was too late. I too followed Andrew from SoK. The salon itself is really cute, warm and friendly. And of course, Andrew is wonderful. He always manages to make my difficult, fine hair look gorgeous. Andrew usually has great suggestions. Last time I went in, I told him I wanted to cut my below shoulder length hair short. He reminded me of all the good things about long hair and how long it took me to get it this way - he suggested just taking some weight off the bottom by putting in some layers. First- I have been with Chen for almost 11 years and would follow her wherever she goes! Her color is awesome, looks natural and her cuts are precision perfect. Kharisma is a great salon! The reservation staff is on point and the entire salon staff is fantastic. The location is great, parking is easy and you walk out looking better than when you walked in...every time. It would be less, but the girl that finished my haircut was incredibly nice (along with the rest of the staff) and semi salvaged it. I live out of town and needed a haircut since I couldn't get one before I came to Houston. I specifically said what I wanted done, which included using clippers on the side. The first person handed me off to another person who I told the same thing and was assured he could do it. Nope. Instead of starting it how I asked and doing it how I always have done, way too much got taken off the top and I wasn't getting done on the sides what I had asked. The third woman to finish my hair had to use clippers which weren't hers, so she was in familiar. I now have a line on one side of my head a weird styled fade on the other and horribly done side burns that lead to a pretty full beard. They asked if I wanted them to fix that up, not a chance I'd let them close to that after seeing my head get butchered before my eyes. I was also charged full price, when at the very least I should have been charged half. And honestly, I think it's bad enough it should have been complimentary, since I'm now gonna have to pay someone again to fix it. The bottom line is, this place doesn't do barber type haircuts that also require styling on top. Instead of trying to do something they couldn't, they should have just told me and I would have just waited to I got back home. I've had some bad haircuts, but this is real bad, really bad and I am truly embarrassed to be seen out in public without a hat. read more

After a bad balayage experience, I came to Andrea to get it fixed. She was attentive, sensitive to my needs and fears, and took her time - both during an extended consultation and during the exhaustive coloring process. Happy to say, she is truly experienced and talented - she said the process would be easy to get the results I wanted, and it ended up being just that. I got perfect, sun-kissed highlights that are natural and full of depth. She was able to get the burnt orange/copper tones out of my hair and restore the platinum tips... I'm thrilled with the outcome! Also, Andrea couldn't be a sweeter person. The atmosphere seemed friendly - the stylists were talking to old customers and lots of people seemed to know each other. My one off-point was the lame soundtrack (sorry!) but it was probably pandora anyway. As for pricing - it was very reasonable for good balayage, about $130 for the whole head. Jenny Silvestri is the best for color and hilights. She also does great Brazilian straightening and up-do's. She keeps me super blonde with a few low lights to keep it even and natural-looking. My hair is pretty long and fine textured. Her cuts keep it healthy and shaped. Previous stylists always just cut it off to that awkward length because it was so damaged and unhealthy looking. I have been coming here for the last 5 years. My first three times coming Jenni did an amazing job on my hair I recommended her to so many people. I never trusted anyone with my hair and Jenni always did my hair perfect. The cut the color everything. But my last two or three trips have not been as great. I will show her a picture of what I want and I understand that things won't be the exact same of course but she just ends up doing her own thing for example the last time I went I wanted a red balayage it would be dark on top and red on the bottom jenni specifically asked me if I wanted the dark to be darker than my natural color and I said yes and I said I wanted more of the dark color than the red she didn't even add any dark color to my hair my hair looks like she just colored it red all over. She cut my hair a lot shorter than I wanted like half the length it was originally. At first I just tried to get used to it but it's a week or so later and I'm just getting more annoyed with my hair I'm so upset considering I paid nearly 400 dollars for my hair. It's not the color I wanted. It's too short. To top it all off I looked in the mirror today and noticed my hair is not evenly cut, the middle back is shorter than the rest. I'm so disappointed because I really loved this place. I haven't had my hair done in a while and was so excited to come in now I'm completely regretting it. read more

I got my hair cut by Roi a couple of weeks ago. I have curly hair that is a few inches past my shoulder, which I usually let air dry or use a diffuser. I had heard he knows how to cut curly hair. The haircut went okay, up until near the end when he ran scissors vertically through my hair, like when you run scissors across a gift wrap ribbon to make it curl. I expressed apprehension at this, not wanting something that would thin my hair, and he said it would "release the curl". I do have to give him credit for fixing my hair curly; he didn't try automatically to straighten it like most stylists do. But he put SO much product (mousse, etc.) in my hair that I didn't notice the problem this technique caused until the next day when I fixed my own hair. Running the scissors through my hair left me with little hairs sticking out at all different lengths. My hair looks damaged and frizzier than ever!!! It did not look like this before the cut. I am so disappointed by the appearance of frizz in my hair now. My hair is so damaged now, and it is going to take FOREVER to grow out, since my hair is so long. read more
