This place has been on my bucket list for quite sometime, and I was recently surprised by my boyfriend for Valentine's Day dinner. It was the first time for both of us and we had a excellent time. The dinner menu is split into 7 parts ranging from hot appetizers, your raw and cured meats, pizza, pasta, your fish and meat and sides. I also like that the menu explains in detail what each dish consists of so you know exactly what you are ordering and their will not be any surprises. Also it gives you a chance to be adventurous with your palate as well. For dinner we decided on the polpetonne, which is basically a meatloaf prepared Sicilian style, sicilian meatloaf stuffed with hardboiled egg, soppresatta, smoked mozzarella, spicy ragu, my boyfriend said it was good, really reminded him of a subway meatball sandwich, just real oversized. I loved the spicy ragu sauce. I decided on the CASARECCE CON BROCCOLI RABE E SALSICCIA, which is basically pasta served with broccoli rabe, house-made sausage, red peppers, this was my absolute favorite. It was very light, not heavy and filling. There were other dishes on the menu that struck our fancy, that we vowed to try next time. They have a wild boar dish that sounds really delicious and I am all for any osso bucco dish. They have a very extensive cocktail and craft beer list along with an assortment of wines. We love they carry meadeworks as well. I highly recommend Cosima, the food was amazing and the service was impeccable. I definitely want to dine again when the weather breaks. My partner and I visited for the first time this past Friday and we enjoyed our experience. The interior itself is very cozy, boasting modern industrial flair and accessible views of the Jones Falls stream. It's perfect for a intimate night out or professional gathering. We started the night with drinks and appetizers and decided on the brussels and meatballs. The brussels (although rather salty) were very tasty, delightfully crispy and complimented with a garlic honey aioli. The meatballs were perfection! We followed up with the porcini pappardelle, porterhouse steak and ended the night with Tiramisu. The pasta dish was phenomenal and the porterhouse was good too (just needed a little more salt) All in all, I'd recommend and I would definitely come back. read more

Great food, loved the ambiance. Only issue was me and my wife came in many empty tables, yet they wanted to seat us at the back table by the kitchen, area covered by a cloth and server coming in and out. I requested to be seated on a empty table behind the bar and they moved me. But I noticed all night that other couples that came in were never seated at that particular back table, they even sat them on 4 person tables, yet they wanted me and my wife to sit there. Is it because every couple was caucasian and we are latinos? Besides that service was good and yummy food!!! read more

Cosima has been one of my favorite restaurants for years but I really feel like it has gone downhill. We had an awful experience with restaurant week this weekend. The restaurant week menu was different online than what they were offering in the restaurant and there was no flexibility for what was actually available- we chose to come here because they are usually great with allergies so we checked the menu pretty thoroughly in advance. They sent out a text to confirm your reservation prompting you to check the restaurant week menu and we would have canceled if it had been up to date. The manager was really nice and took responsibility for this admitting it was incorrect. Our server was rude the entire meal which made it awkward and we had to ask to order our food and drinks. Three of our orders came out wrong and they didn't really seem to care or notice. My mom got a small plain piece of salmon on a bread plate basically thrown at her after it was discussed they could do a salmon salad. The pasta was awful. At the end of the meal, our check came out charging the full amount for each person for restaurant week even though two people clearly didn't get an entree. They itemized the one meal taking $12 off the check which I thought was ridiculous since it was their fault the menu was wrong in the first place. 20% gratuity is already added to the check as well automatically. I had really talked up Cosima with this group I took here because of the amazing food and service I've experienced in the past and it was embarrassing. This is a huge, modern, gorgeous Italian restaurant located in the lower level of a converted warehouse which sits on a hill in a relatively secluded area. I was really wowed by the ambience and interior design of the place. I came here with 9 others. The hostess took our coats and sat us promptly. The server greeted us within seconds and took our drink orders. It was a full house. It was also restaurant week. The beer and wine lists were pretty decent. The seating was spacious and comfortable. For appetizer, I ordered the arancini, which was delicious. It was crunchier and a bit drier than I would expect, but it actually worked and tasted great. It came with a pesto sauce instead of marinara. Sadly, I tried to order the Italian meatloaf and the server said they were out. He also said it was their most popular dish. I was bummed. I ordered the rigatoni Bolognese. It was tasty but a bit too aldente. The vegetables inside the bolognese sauce were completely raw. Nonetheless, it tasted pretty good. After dinner I ordered the cappuccino and it was very good. It was a great end to the meal. The restaurant is a bit pricey but the portions were good. Others at the table ordered the meatballs for appetizers and loved them. I would definitely return. This restaurant exemplifies the gems within the Baltimore restaurant scene. read more

My boyfriend and I went here for the first time tonight for our Valentine's dinner. Our server was friendly and we had no complaints in regards to him, but the food was no where near worth the money we spent. They had an exclusive menu going on for 95$ per person where you could receive an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The food was served cold and my pork chop entree was under cooked. Went to dinner for the first time Valentine's Day weekend with the fixed menu. Appetizers came out super fast but felt like they had been pre-made for hours and not even left under a heat lamp. We got the pork crostini and shrimp arancini. The pork was cold and the whole appetizer was severely lacking flavor/salt. The shrimp arancini did not taste like shrimp at all, completely missing salt and the asparagus purée tasted like mushy baby food. We both got the filet mignon, shrimp & asparagus main course, steak temperature was supposed to be rare for both. Our meals sat in front of us for 5 minutes before our waitress realized we had no utensils to even try and eat our food. . . It probably would have been better if we never received our utensils. One steak was medium and the other steak was well done. Neither steak has a nice salt/seasoning crust, therefor had no flavor or mouth feel. The shrimp for one plate was well cooked but had no flavor, but the shrimp on the other plate was over cooked and chewy. Asparagus on both plates lacked any seasoning. For the finale we got the donuts and dark chocolate cake. The cake was pretty decent but could have used a whipped cream to cut down on the over sweetness. The raspberry sauce on the plate tasted like it was straight from a jar of bitter raspberry preserves from Costco. The donuts texture/ flavor were mediocre and the two sauces didn't do much to help. The icing on the cake was the check came out and there was an automatic 20% gratuity charged (even though there was only 2 of us). Shouldn't that be something we are told when we sit down? The best part of our night was our wine choice and the bread to start our meal. This was the worst $386 we have ever spent for a meal with no flavor and improperly cooked. read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Cosima. I came here for restaurant week with a big group of friends and we all walked away pleased. Service was a little slow at first but picked up and overall was good. I ordered a glass of a reserve red they had and it was very good! We also ordered a bottle for the table, which I enjoyed as well. For food, I ordered the meatballs to start and they were absolutely delicious. Especially for restaurant week, all of the portions were generous. My main entree was seafood (calamari, shrimp, mussels) overtop couscous with a tomato bisque. It was tasty and there wasn't too much of the tomato bisque. All of the seafood was cooked very well. For dessert I ordered the flourless chocolate cake which was rich and chocolatey- which I prefer! Tucked away in an old mill building on the Jones Falls, Cosima is a rustic yet sleek Sicilian restaurant that promises traditional Italian flavors and delivers handily. They have a wine flight, which I've not seen before at a restaurant and promptly ordered. To start, we had the octopus salad and the polpette. The octopus was grilled to perfection, and the meatballs were everything you want from an Italian restaurant. I had the special fish (red drum) for my main, and it was fabulous. The real star of the plate was a savory carrot purée. I also enjoyed picking at my dining companions' boar ragu and ossobuco. For dessert, a seasonal pumpkin cake was amazing, and the caffe fino cocktail was the perfect end to the night. Our server was friendly, attentive, and very funny. I tried Cosima for dinner with my husband, mother, stepfather, and mother in law a few nights ago, and the experience was really great. While the food was good, it was the service and the ambiance that made it a really special meal! We had a reservation to eat out on the patio, and I'm so glad we chose that. The patio is stunning. It's covered and looks out on Jones Falls. It's a gorgeous location for a meal. The inside of the restaurant is modern and swanky and cool (because it's in Mill No. 1), but the patio is really special. The service was also great. We chose Cosima for our family dinner, because the menu is really varied and we had one vegan and one very restricted eater in our party. We shared the cavoletti di Bruxelles (crispy Brussels sprouts with citrus-balsamic), which were verrrrry crispy (and quite good). My mom (the vegan) order the Insalata di Cetrioli all Fragola (strawberry cucumber salad, kale, red onion, fennel, kalamata olive and basil vinaigrette; it's vegan if you take off the gorgonzola) and a side of rustic pasta (for vegans, it can be made with olive oil or their marinara). She enjoyed her meal. My mother in law is a very restricted eater, and she had the cavolfiore arrosto (oven roasted cauliflower, quinoa salad, roasted onions, dried cranberries, roasted garlic lemon vinagrette), which she liked. My stepdad opted for the couscous alla Trapaneses (seafood stew of mussels, clams, shrimp, calamari, and rockfish in a saffron tomato brodo over couscous, which was really good. My husband and I shared a few dishes: polpo carbonizzato (charred smoky octopus over arugula salad with chickpeas, black olives, orange, fennel, and citrus vinaigrette), vongole saltate (sauteed clams in white wine, butter, garlic, shallots, tomatoes, and crostini), and gnocchi primavera (ricotta gnocchi with peas, artichoke hearts, asparagus, and leeks in a creamy roasted garlic asparagus puree). The octopus dish was just okay; I think I would have liked the octopus better if it was just over a puree rather than a salad, and the salad dressing was kind thick and goopy which wasn't very appetizing with the octopus. The clams were my favorite of our three dishes. They were pretty perfect. The white wine butter broth they were cooked in was everything. The gnocchi was an amazing texture (so pillowy and soft), but the dish fell a little flat for me. Their beverage offerings are great (cocktails, beers, and wine). My husband had a cocktail or two, and my mother in law and I tried a couple of their wines (Chard for me, Sangiovese for her). Their dessert menu had more options than I'm used to seeing on a menu! We selected the panna cotta (vanilla cardamom panna cotta with balsamic strawberries), which was classic and simple and delicious. They offer dessert cocktails and lots of amaros, digestifs, and dessert wines (we tried a few of the amaros with our dessert). Overall, the meal was really lovely. Upon arrival, my girlfriend and I were seated in an area with no ventilation. The temperature was too high so we requested to move. We were advised that most of the restaurant was closed and unavailable so we moved to another table that was out in the open. The temperature there was better, but still warm. Our food arrived quickly but was not cooked properly. She had to send her lamb back and so did the gentleman at the next table. My chicken was barely cooked and I was unable to eat all of it. Her cocktail came with one huge ice cube in it and was not completely full. There was about 3 or 4 ounces in the glass for $15. Our waitress was great, but not good enough to offset the flaws of the rest. The food was poorly cooked and overpriced. We will not be back. read more

Came here for a Night Brunch sponsored event. The location can he a bit tricky to access, as you are traveling on Falls Rd. in the opposite direction of Poly/Western High School. The road will be winding and come to a dead end, but have no fear, you make a quick left and proceed ahead, but it gets tricky past there. They have comp valet, but if you drive fast you will miss the quick turn down into the steep driveway. The valet drivers were pleasant and because they had a back up, were courteous enough to apologize and instead of waiting for the parking backup to clear, allowed us to leave the car to go enjoy the event. The location is a refurb old mill on the edge of a stream, dating back probably a couple hundred years. As an FYI ladies, the walkway out front is cobblestone meaning your thin heels WILL get caught in the cracks if you are unable to finagle the uneven cobblestones! Once inside, the venue is spacious with high ceilings and wrought iron and wood embleshiments, including the tables and bar area. There is an upper level, which offers a great view of the outside stream, if you can get a table there or enjoy the view looking down on the first level. There is a nice, spacious outdoor patio area, perfect for a spring evening meal among the calming sound of the stream. The food was good. We ordered the pizza semplice, which was a brick oven pizza with mozzarella , plump, sweet shared tomatoes, roasted garlic, and basil. The wait and bartender staff were excellent and I will have to come back to taste other delightful offerings from their extensive menu. read more

If I could do 3.5 stars thats what I would honestly give, but I will round up to 4 stars and here are my reasons why. Atmosphere: Although down directly downtown, its across from the JHU Homewood campus. A VERY narrow driveway downhill, will lead you into a cute brick-laid alleyway and you will be greeted by friendly (free) valet parking attendants. The restaurant itself is stunning, high ceilings, brick walls, a focal central bar, gorgeous bathroom. Everything just looked immaculate and it felt extremely classy inside and out. Service: One of the main reasons I could not give this place a 5 star, let alone 4 (I really think it's 3.5) because everything felt check-list like and very corporate. The servers were great and never let our drinks/water get down to the bottom, however many faults were noted during the evening. The server could not recite the specials and when we jokingly said it's ok we're not looking at you no pressure use your notes- he went ahead and did. But then still stuttered and stumbled over his words. Secondly, someone in our group had an allergy to a certain food and over and over we had to remind him of this and he had to check with the kitchen each time. Lastly, it was great that the manager came by to ask us how our food was, but next time instead of hopping from table to table in order (it felt forced) he/she should go in a random order to at least make the attempt look less rehearsed. Appetizer: Insalata di Polpi (Grilled calamari) + Burrata (grilled tomatoes with bread and a big piece of fresh mozzarella). For the price, it's hard to say that I would order these again. The first was just a soft unfried version of calamari and the second was cheese with tomatoes and bread (bruschetta- though its their house special it was not worth the price). Entrees: Porchetta (pork-belly wrapped pork tenderloin). It came out as a slab of meat and the pork-belly was not as crispy as I have had at asian restaurants before. The salad on top appeared like arugula thrown onto the pork tenderloin. The flavors were consistent and it was not too salty, but for $32 I was hoping for a little more pizazz. Dessert: Panacota (blood orange congealed jelly consistency with black berries). Finally, for the dessert round, I have never eaten something like this before. It was firm and flavorful and tastefully decorated. Overall a great atmosphere with mediocre food, and definitely with a lot of hype. But unclear if it is able to deliver. For the high end prices I think you are putting that money into the free valet, and beautiful decorations and high wait staff to client ratio rather than what matters most which is having top-notch food. read more

I visited Cosima at The Night Brunch event this week. Tucked away right above Station North area, it was not the easiest to find. My friend and I actually took a wrong turn on the way and was so confused when we started driving into a very residential/ forest-like area. However, once we got to the restaurant, we were very impressed. Away from the downtown area, the view around the restaurant is beautiful with lights across the buildings and river running on the side. I can easily see this restaurant being a popular venue for weddings! Unfortunately, that was the best part of this evening. We got there around 7:15 PM, drove in to the complimentary valet parking lot to find out from the poor employee that they were really backed up. This definitely was not the restaurant's fault- probably a result of poor planning. Parking situation was definitely limited and made me wonder what the situation is like during a normal night. It is in a location difficult to get to without a car. Once we checked in for the event, the person checking us in told us that the wait was going to be around 40 minutes. We decided that we were going to grab a drink from the bar and wait for our table. I think it might have been because of the business from the event, but it was very difficult to get the bartenders' attention. I had to really dive into the bar area to make my order. There was no space at the bar, so we ended up taking our drinks outside, where there were some seating by the water. Then, 40 minute passed, we went to check for our place in the line. They say we are coming up soon. Another 20 minutes go by, and I still haven't heard anything. When I walked up there for the third time, she must have felt bad that we seated us upstairs. It ended up being right next to the DJ, and it was impossible to carry a conversation without shouting across the table. It was also 8:40 PM by the time we got the waiter's attention and had put in our order. The waiters seemed disheveled as well- we did not get any complimentary bread NOR water- we eventually asked for water, and our waiter brought it then. We ordered Torta Rustica and Pizza Pancetta. They were both mediocre. Torta rustica was very disappointing from the start. I was shocked to see how SMALL the portion was. The tart was the size of my palm- maybe 3.4 inches in diameter. If the dish was under $15, I would have thought nothing about it, but it was a $18 dish?!? You could go to a fancy boulangerie and get a bigger tart for $7-8 bucks. It was way too overpriced for what it was. The pizza was alright- then again, it was NOT worth $16. I am not sure what their menu and food is like on a regular day, but I was deeply disappointed by my experience. I do not think I will be back here again. Cosima offers such a romantic atmosphere with ideal outdoor dining right next to a creek. It is quite challenging to find which adds to its charm. My friends and I came for a weekday dinner and unfortunately were not impressed with most of the food. We ordered octopus, clams, cauliflower as apps and a pizza to split. The pizza was particularly underwhelming. This is a moderately to higher priced restaurant and for the most part the food lacked flavor and originality. W O W. I will be raving about this place to all my friends. Definitely a perfect spot for a date night or a happy hour. The venue is absolutely beautiful with exposed bricks and stone walls. The service was great, the valet parking was super helpful as well. We ordered the arancini and the burrata as starters. Listen---- the burrata was sooooo creamy I still can't stop thinking about it. The pesto for the arancini was a great addition as well. Our main entrees were the porcetta and the cannelloni. The porcetta was SO TENDER. I highly recommend ordering it. For dessert we got the pistachio olive oil cake because it sounded interesting and I think we were both surprised by how flavorful and tasty it was. You can't go wrong with the food here. The candied bacon and onion pizza is fabulous and so is the risotto with shrimp. The waitstaff is attentive and will answer all of your questions. I have been in search of good pizza in Maryland and I have found pizza heaven. The crust is thin and crisp enough. The candied bacon and sweet onions is one of the best pizzas I have ever had. My sister and brother ordered the pasta and liked it as well. For dessert, we had sfini which is Italian doughnuts and cinnamon sugar. It was light enough to enjoy after dinner. All in all, the food was delicious and would recommend this place to everyone who loves Italian food. read more

I didn't get a signature cocktail but the martini was phenomenal. It's more expensive, yes, but the portions are very generous. We drove allll the way from Vienna, VA to check out this spot and I am glad we did. It was challenging to find initially because you have to go down a side road and travel down to the entrance. There was parking available in the garage. On a scale of 1-5: Service is a 5- Our server was excellent. Explained everything well, answered all of my questions, and was attentive. COVID precautions were in place and I felt safe. Food is a 5- one word... BRANZINO, so yummy. You must try that! I attended The Night Brunch event here yesterday. Using my GPS to get to the location was pretty simple but, you could miss the entrance if you blinked. The restaurant did have valet parking. Ladies if you like to wear stiletto heals I do suggest that if you are not a pro at walking on cobblestone that you may want to choose a different sexy shoe for the night as that is what the area where you drop off your car is made of. This restaurant felt like a hidden gem. Once entered, the feel was totally unique and cozy. The front stand people were very friendly as well as our waitress. The one and only thing that I disliked was where we were seated. We arrived a little early but, when seated it was plenty of tables available but, we were placed in what felt like a corner. I made the mistake of ordering before asking to be moved. I was basically told that because the food was already ordered that we could not be moved. Somewhat disappointing. I would have preferred to close out the tab and be reseated. I tried very hard to enjoy despite not being able to be moved. Not being moved is what took away from being 5 star. I hate to harp on the seating but, for a 1st time experience the only view for me was the lower window where I could see the water. I didn't stand a chance at seeing others unless I completely turned away from the table. Let's move on. I loved the concept of the glass water containers on the table so that you could refill yourself as needed. We each ordered a drink. My guess chose the IPA which I forgot to get a photo of however she did state that it was delicious. I chose the bellini which did not disappoint. The entree tried was the chicken and waffles. The chicken was juicy and not heavily seasoned at all. The waffle was a little harder than I expected but, the flavorful butter made up for that. The event had a really big turnout. When it was time to get the car from valet it was a little congested. I don't think they were expecting so many people. But, I must say the valet guys were awesome and showed pleasant attitudes the entire time. I would like to come back to this restaurant when they are not having an event to see how things go. I came here for mine and my boyfriend's anniversary and it was the best experience! I have been eating gluten free for over a year now and am always nervous to eat out. However, as soon as we sat down I informed the waitress of my allergy and she was so sweet about my it and swiftly brought free gluten free bread along with normal bread for my boyfriend to the table. I felt incredibly comfortable eating at Cosima and the entire ambiance of the restaurant felt rustic and classy which is exactly what we were looking for. I ordered the margarita pizza on gluten free crust and, although I don't have much to compare to, it was the best restaurant-made gluten free pizza I have had in a while! This is a 2.5. Had reservations at 815, Saturday night. We arrived at 730 and had a drink and appetizer at the bar. We ordered the octopus and it was our favorite dish of the night. Really interesting flavors and great level of spiciness. Would recommend it along with any cocktail. Our other appetizers were meatballs and burrata. Though they were good, they didn't have exceptional flavors that would merit such an expensive restaurant. Our meals were the tuna and the cappeloni. I think both dishes had sat under the heat lamp too long because my pasta was visibly burnt (it was a baked dish) and the tuna was not as rare as the person next to us. We said something and though we didn't expect a discount, we expected it to be acknowledged, especially when at a fine dining restaurant. Total was 3 apps, 2 entrees and 5 drinks. The total was $210 with tip. For such an expensive place, our food should not have been burnt. The ambiance is beautiful and service was good. Definitely won't be going back. read more

Everything on their menu is well thought out, plated beautifully and absolutely delicious. The space is beautiful on the inside and the ample outdoor dining sitting on the Jones Falls river has stunning views. Cosima is excellent for a date night and larger groups. The staff is incredibly friendly every time I visit. To top it off, they have always had a great happy hour/bar menu as well. Lastly, they are well seasoned in coordinating events! I recently had my wedding ceremony and reception held there and I have to say the planning was effortless and easy. They helped design our menu based off our different tastes/diets/food allergies--it all turned out beautifully. Extremely COVID-compliant too! All staff where masks and gloves. I checked out this place during restaurant week and I was very impressed. Once you figure out how to get to the building (kind of weird setup). The signs will guide you to it but it's around some corners. The inside looks like the inside of a industrial building but with a sleek look (if that makes sense) i like the combination of brick and lighting here. I visited here for the first time last Saturday. We arrived right when they opened so there was no wait. The only nearby parking option seemed to be valet but it was complimentary. The dress was mixed. I was dressed very casually because I hadn't planned to dine here but I still fit in just fine. The customer service was great. Every staff person who we came in contact with was very pleasant and friendly. I liked the overall atmosphere and vibe. I ordered the Casarecce con Salsiccia. Overall I thought it was good. It was flavorful and filling. I'd rate that dish a 4/5. The other person who dined with me ordered the Pollo alla Cacciatore. She raved about her dish. I didn't try her dish but based on her comments I am thinking that she'd rate it a 5/5. I was pleasantly surprised with a free dessert for my birthday. It was interesting and also quite tasty if you don't mind different types of textures which I don't. It somewhat reminded me of flan but had a different flavor. What an adorable hidden gem! We were trying to find a place in Baltimore for a quick bite, small plates, nothing heavy. We were able to make reservations fairly easy for 6pm online. This restaurant is tucked away in a beautiful industrial building. We totally missed the parking but it is a little ramp at the corner as soon as you make the turn, it doesn't look like a road but it is! We didn't mind the walk down since we parked upstairs. Since it was my first time here, I was interested to see how the "Covid" experience would be. We were not disappointed. Upon arrival, our temperature is checked and asked if we had any symptoms. The inside is beautiful and very romantic. We were directed to the back patio. There were only two other people at a table once we were out there. Pretty hanging lights and the tables were well spaced out. There is also a very nice view of a little river you can see which adds to the charm. The server came over to introduce herself, drop off some bread, and go over the specials. The menu was digital and easy to read. We ordered the octopus and an order of burrata. Flavors were incredible and definitely satisfying. Not too many gluten free options for me but I am excited to return and try more dishes. The best dining experience I've had in ages and reminded me why I try new places. This is my favorite new place and I want to come here all the time omg. Server Mark was great. I had two cocktails, this amazing dark rum cocktail from their seasonal cocktail list that I wish I remembered the name of and an espresso martini. The rum cocktail was bomb af. It was light but spicy and I could have drank the whole thing in 2 seconds but somehow managed to control myself and made it last through dinner. Espresso cocktail was great, strong espresso taste and like a hint of black liquorice? But in a good way and not an overwhelming way. My date and I shared two appetizers, the brussels sprouts and grilled octopus. The brussels were bangin, but the star of the show was the octopus. This octopus was so tender. Like even sometimes really great octopus is a little chewy, but not this - this was so perfectly cooked it was probably the best octopus I've ever had. I'm so happy I ordered it, because it was my favorite thing of the night and I feel like that's saying something because everything was good. Dinner my date had the ribeye, I took a few bites and it melted in my mouth. It was like take a bite, forget where you are, eyes roll back in your head good. I had the porchetta and it was terrific. The pork belly was thick and the tenderloin was tender. The pears on top were perfectly spiced. We shared two desserts, the Semi Freddo which was like a pistachio ice cream brick with cherries and a cherry drizzle. I want this every day for the rest of my life. And the chocolate mousse cake which was gone in 2 seconds and I wish I had more right now, like I wish I had the whole cake. One thing I want to note is that the portions were HUGE. Normal sized portions - they did not skimp out because of the restaurant deal. It's an insane deal and I was super impressed. Cannot wait to come back and eat my way through this menu. read more

YUM. Wonderful gourmet Italian food in Baltimore. Also, of note, cute outdoor seating with heat lamps--definitely necessary in pandemic, with cooler weather nowadays. I got the bronzino, which was a tiny bit fishier than I would have liked but very rich in flavor with nice crispy skin. The salad it came with was delicious as well. My husband got the pork, which was SOO tender and rich but a bit too fatty and hard to eat more than a few bites of, honestly. Overall, a bit pricey but really enjoyed my night here and definitely would consider going back for a special occasion! read more

Extremely disappointed. After checking reviews (both online and by asking friends for their experiences) we were excited to make a reservation for us and our 10 closest friends for our birthdays! My birthday is nine days after my husband's and this was the first time we planned a joint celebration so we wanted it to be great. So the stars aligned for a Sunday evening dinner. We all got there on time and enjoyed the complimentary valet on a chilly evening. The hostess took us to our table which was a nice high top with some great ambiance. The waiter came up and bumbled through an introduction that surprisingly didn't include his name. Our group quickly realized this man must not have been a waiter (at this restaurant) for long - or at least wasn't used to managing a mid-sized group by himself. Eventually we had to ask him to take our drink orders which took forever to receive. At one point I watched my drink sit on the bar for 30 minutes of our 3 1/2 hr dinner before someone from our party finally got up to retrieve it on their own. We eventually learned it was quicker to order our drinks from the bar oursleves - such a shame. The majority of the food that came was pretty amazing. Until we got to the entrees.... Four of the couples ordered the Rib Eye Steaks - it looked phenomenal on the menu. However each of us ended up with the toughest and most gristly medium rare steak ever possible. The waiter blamed the toughness on being a "thick steak" but I had to point out the full run of gristle through the middle didn't help. The appetizers and the entrees came out so far apart from the other couples it was almost like we were at different tables. Our food got cold while we waited for our friend's SALAD to get there! Mind you, the entrees came two and a half hours after we placed our original orders! The worst part of this whole experience was that our guests (who have had positive experiences in the past and recommended Cosima) were apologizing TO US! You would have thought our table would've had a visit from the manager or chef...but no. They left each apology up to the waiter who just kept saying "anything that could go wrong did go wrong" or "it's just not our night" which was...extremely disappointing. I will say that I was proud of my friends for keeping a level head. Each one of the couples would have loudly voiced their dissatisfaction with the situation but kept it cool. This was truly tested when our friends' food was taken from in front of them twice. They are vegans and each time their food was brought, they had confirm they dish was (in fact) vegan. The waiter (both times) said hesitantly, oh yes, and then a minute later came up and took the food to replace it with a vegan dish. In the end, the waiter offered them free coffee to make up for the continued confusion. They actually said that they would pass on the coffee but the sorbet looked nice. I went with my friend last weekend for a late dinner and this was a first time for both of us. They have a parking garage right outside the restaurant which was extremely convenient. They take your temperature at the door and ask for you to provide some contact information for contact tracing purposes. They have large shields at the bar which allows customers to be separated from the bartenders but still easily communicate and be served while seated and able to enjoy a drink at the bar. We sat upstairs and all the tables are socially distanced. Laura was our server and she was fantastic!! We could not decide what we wanted because everything looked so good! We got the roasted cauliflower appetizer with this delicious and fresh dipping sauce along with roasted brussel sprouts which were very good. My friend said the bread was good as well. My friend got the margarita pizza and said it was delicious and had a red wine which she said was excellent. I had the bronzino that came perfectly cooked and had a nice green sauce on it and small arugula salad with a delicious vinaigrette on it. The fish was literally the best I've had. I literally had to pause and just take it in. Laura suggested the entree and wine and was absolutely spot on with that and our desserts! We got the chocolate cake, donuts and pistachio gelato. Baltimore Restaurant Week gave me the perfect opportunity to try out Cosima. Unlike other restaurants that use Restaurant Week to serve weak, careless meals to diners, Cosima brought their A-Game. The meatball appetizers was warm and filling, topped with creamy ricotta cheese. I chose the Pesce Alla Trapanese as an entree, which had delicious fresh mussels, shrimp and calamari, but even I, a diehard seafood lover, was jealous of the friend who ordered the Ragu Di Cinghiale (wild boar? yes please). Dessert was a bit of a disappointment for me - the Italian Rum Cake was nothing special. I should've ordered the Chocolate Almond Torte. Another friend went off the Restaurant Week menu and ordered the Ricotta Cheesecake. Normally, that would've been my first choice, but I was glad I didn't order it, as the texture and taste was not my favorite. Our server was super nice and made good recommendations, but she did make a significant error on our check, resulting in an additional $80 being added to our bill. We didn't catch it at the restaurant, but luckily a friend kept the receipt. Hopefully the error will be easy to resolve. Also, I would advise other diners to research the parking and location before visiting - even though I ride by Cosima pretty regularly, I still missed the entrance.
