Unfortunately, when we arrived there was a table of 22, so the one waiter on staff was extremely busy and it took quite a while for us to receive any drinks or food. To their credit, the staff was very accommodating and even brought us a complimentary appetizer for the delay. However, upon being seated, my boyfriend had to kill a cockroach near our table. Gorgeous, elegant interiors with chandeliers and 19th century vibe paintings... was reminding me of the Titanic. No wait or reservation needed on a weekend evening. Fast service. We got the scampi crostini for an appetizer and loved the sauce; very savory with a hint of citrus. Probably my favorite dish of the evening. We also enjoyed the chicken marsala, with equally savory and creamy of a sauce. The shrimp fra diavolo definitely had a kick, but did not blow me away. Easily the best meal I've ever had in Baltimore, in all the years I've been visiting. Stopped in last night w my aunt and cousin. He's on a bit of a restrictive diet at the moment and the place couldn't have been more accommodating. The food was so good!!! I'm from New Jersey so this is saying a lot... this is the best Italian food I've had in Baltimore yet! First off, the ambiance is absolutely beautiful and the service was incredible. The owner came and spoke with us to make sure everything was came out great, we we loved! We had the scampi crostini (sauce was insane) the chicken parm, and rigatoni vodka with grilled chicken. This was truly bizarre. TLDR: don't risk going here. There are so many awesome reviews. But after scrolling through all of them, I saw one woman suggest that many of the positive reviews may be paid for, and honestly I think she's onto something. My experience was similar to the awful reviews, and I fear the bad reviews are the most accurate. They don't take online reservations so we called and made a reservation. The guy we spoke too sounded incredibly unenthusiastic. Like, to a weird level. Red flag #1. We show up for our res, and we're greeted not by an host, but by the head chef. A bit odd, red flag #2. And they don't seem to have any sort of record system for their reservations. When we tell him we have a res, he doesn't check anything. He just says ok, please sit at the bar while we get your table ready. Why isn't our table ready, we're on time for our res and the place is mostly empty. Red flag #3. Fine. We sit at the bar and he hands us full menus... weird. Then nobody comes to tend to us. A few minutes later, a slovenly guy in a sweatshirt walks from behind the bar and puts his hands on the and goes "hi. How's it going" and then pauses... so we say hi it's good. And he goes "cool"..... and then pauses for a weird amount of time. Red flag #4. Just so weird. He walks away, then soon comes back and asks if we want a drink. We say no, and he says "ok, well I'm the only bartender and server, so it might be a little while till I have your table ready"... what? There's... ONE server/bartender? The place is mostly empty, but it's a big space. We're starting to understand WHY it's empty. Red flag #5. We've been sitting for about 8 minutes at this point, looking at the menu, chatting, and I notice that none of the seated tables... have food. Finally I see the chef bring some dishes out. He's also weirdly like whispering and maybe bickering with the weird bartender/server. Red flag #6. A few minutes later I notice the chef go back to a table and take a dish back. Presumably they immediately sent it back.... Red flag #7. Everything at this point is just so bizarre, I start googling other places to eat. We are still at the bar, haven't been seated. It's been about 10 minutes. 2 minutes later, the bartender walks back to the bar and goes "how bout some shots!".... Again, we're like, no thanks. We came to eat. We just had drinks somewhere else. So weird. Red flag #8. Everything about his and the chef's vibe was wildly off. All the tables but 1 still had no food. The bartender/server was just fiddling around, doing literally nothing. Not even attempting to set our table. At this point, I get up, tell my friend we're leaving, we thank the "staff" and walk out. I have literally never walked out of a reservation before. This was beyond the most bizarre experience I've ever had at a restaurant. After it, I went back and read every single other review, and I'm starting to see the warning signs. My gf suggested we go back and try it another time. I love trying new places. I legitimately would not risk it here. Something about the whole vibe was off. The lack of organization and service was so bad, I genuinely have no confidence that we would have ever been served food. I even worried the food might even make us sick. I have no faith that this place could even practice basic food safety. It was so fucking weird. There's a billion other restaurants in the planet. Don't risk it here. read more

I randomly came here with a group of people on a weekday night. We were the only ones inside, which felt a bit eerie since the place is HUGE. The wood, chandeliers, grand stair case...it's wild and gorgeous! The owner was very friendly and was happy to talk to us about how he designed the place. You could tell he was very passionate and proud. The service was nice and the food came out in an appropriate time frame. I ordered a mushroom pizza, which I really enjoyed. The fig balsamic reduction on top was delicious. I'd come back here again and try more things, especially some of the pastas since they sounded really good. Olio just opened on Aliceanna. I went last night with a group of friends to try it out! I love experiencing a place early on - the manager Greg was fun and asked us our thoughts and recommendation on every dish. This restaurant is definitely still in "start up" mode - maybe think of it as a soft opening. They have their front dining room open, but there's 2/3 more of the restaurant that should open up in about a month (Greg gave us the tour!). I loved the vibes of the place because it has a lot of character and is a bit kitschy - in a good way. If you're on tik tok and you want to live out your 90s mob wife aesthetic, this is a good place to do it. Service - 4/5 - Great and personal service but still staffing up Drinks 4/5 - - I had the basil smash cocktail. Very yummy but if you don't like a sweet cocktail, tell them to make it less sweet. Strong basil taste, citrus. -Tried the espresso cocktail - very good version of an espresso martini -my husband and friend had aperol spritz - they both really liked it, the aperol wasn't overpowering. Refreshing. Our group enjoyed the house Chianti after cocktails. Food - ( We ate family style to try a lot) OUR FAVORITES - Chicken Marsala - Burrata - Au Grain Sweet Potatoes - Bolognese - Fettuccine Alfredo was surprisingly good - Beet salad - Meatballs - Chocolate mousse - Crème Brûlée THINGS WE LIKED - Margarita pizza - Filet - Caesar salad (dressing made in house, more of a citrus-y dressing, not a creamy Caesar) Fun place to try - can't wait to see what it becomes in a month or two. Just tried Olio for the first time, and the food was fantastic! Very solid Italian dishes. We got: - Caesar Salad - very good; when it first came out, it didn't look like it was dressed at all, but once we took a bite, we realized it was perfectly dressed. The dressing was just homemade so it appeared to be on the lighter side. It's also anchovy-based; we love anchovies, so we enjoyed it but just wanted to give folks a heads up - I know it's a love it or leave it kind of thing. The croutons were also soo buttery and delicious! - Chicken Parm - chicken could have been pounded thinner, but the crust and seasoning were great! It also came with a side of pasta and asparagus, which I think were the best asparagus I've ever gotten at a restaurant. I know that sounds silly, like it's asparagus... but I really couldn't wrap my head around how they got such a good char and flavor on it. - Shrimp Fra Diavlo - So, this is my favorite Italian dish and I pretty much get it every time it's offered on a menu. As far Olio's dish goes, it's very solid. It comes with jumbo shrimp and the sauce had a nice kick to it - not too much, but enough for you to come back for more. I will say the menu said it came with linguini and I definitely got spaghetti, but it wasn't a big deal to me. The only con I had was that it seemed like they were still working out some grand opening kinks? The service wasn't slow per se, but it lacked attentiveness. Our waitress wasn't that personable and didn't check on our table very often. Also when we asked about the happy hour menu, which we saw online, she said she wasn't sure if there was one, and then came back after asking and said yes, there is one. When I asked what was on it, she said she's "pretty sure" it's the same as the regular menu... It was very confusing. Other than that, we really did enjoy our time! We went on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy, so I really hope more people give it a try and spread the word about this local gem. read more

Friend and I went here last night and it was absolutely amazing with by far, the best happy hour menu in town. We literally ordered 5 of the plates on it and cleaned every one of them. Top plate was the rigatoni vodka sauce, followed very closely by the veal meatballs and shrimp scampi. We topped the night off with what is definitely Baltimore's best Espresso Martini. The food was absolutely fantastic and the chocolate mousse was to die for I had the lemon cello spritz as my cocktail, Ty, I believe the bartender was his name it was made with perfection. He was a great bartender, very Great with conversation. I highly recommend this place the inside is beautiful designed like it belongs in a movie you'll see what I mean when you go there. We went here on a Friday night based on the great reviews, but were sadly disappointed in the quality of the food and the cleanliness of the restaurant. The service was somewhat spotty. The waiter, who was sweating profusely, kept having to come back to our table to be reminded of what we ordered...and still forgot some things, like more ice for the warm drinks. A bread plate on our table was in need of a good scrubbing, as well as a wine glass with lipstick on it. As for the food, we tried the "veal" meatballs, and since I make them at home, I know how delicious and tender they should be, these were obviously just ground beef and they were reheated a few times. On the tough side. The other entres, 2 pastas and a pizza were just ok. There were some open holes in the wall and ceiling with exposed wiring, which stuck out from the overall grandeur of the room. and what's with the paper napkins? A wonderful new addition to Fell's Point! We had our 3rd dinner in 10 days. Food is delicious and you can order pizza or full course meals.......all delectable! Service is excellent. Greg, the manager, makes everyone feel welcome. They are proud to have guests tour the place since it's quite large (they have a glorious event space) and the decor is lush, reminding one of NYC or Chicago, I'm the past. This place was amazing. We ordered a lot on the menu and it was all really good to great! The margarita pizza was really good. The flavors were so fresh and it had just the right amount of everything. The garlic bread was good I loved the sauce ion the side. The duck was delishes and I don't usually care for duck. The bolognese. , really good. It has some heat which was kind of a nice surprise.. if I had a complaint, it would be that the shrimp in the polenta were seasoned a bit too much. That being said, everyone was raving about them and really the polenta , that came with the shrimp , was the best I've ever tasted. Our waiter, Greg, was great. He was very attentive. My husband and I wanted to find a quiet romantic spot Sunday for dinner, something off the regular Fells Point strip. We were outside looking at the menu, an employee opened the door, invited us in and told us to come in, try the food, it would be great. He was right! They didn't disappoint! We ordered the rigatoni with shrimp and the salmon. Both were generous, and delicious! The service was exceptional and we loved the ambience and decor so much, the owner gave us a tour and a bit of history of the restaurant. This was not a good experience. When we first got there it took at least 15 min for our drinks to get taken. It took about ten to get them. Then the lady couldn't make a cappuccino and said I'm not trained to do it... why would you have a machine if you won't use it?? The worst part of this was that shrimp was $14 extra on fettuccine. When the bill came I about flipped. I've never seen it charged more than $6-8 absolute max. It was mediocre to begin with and the service was terrible. It was just not a good experience. Interesting experience at Olio.... The building is beautiful, and the food was decent, to say the least. Unfortunately, the service absolutely killed the experience. Reading the older reviews, you expect to come into a 5 star, white table cloth experience, but between the server who was very slow, and extremely unprofessional, and a very janky overall experience. Our meal was not coursed at all, and the bartender was extremely slow, receiving our drinks after our apps had already arrived at room temperature. The owner is a bit of a pedo. He made a inappropriate comment to a minor working for him which caused the employee to quite. He said things like "I am so drunk, I could hit you" "I prefer brunettes (like the employee) over blondes" and often called the minor "sweetheart" and "sweetie". The owner is also not very good at running the restaurant because he has to juggle being the owner and a cook, often prioritizing the wrong objective.
