This location was set up more like a bar which I sat at as it overlooks the street, great for people watching. Already impressed with the Lamb Vindaloo pasty I asked the bartender to recommend another spicy one and he suggested the Carne Adovada which was stuffed with pork in New Mexican red chili stew, Mexican rice, hatch chilies and cheddar. It came with a side of sour cream and salsa and it was delicious. Sticking with the 32oz beers this time I tried a Kilt Lifter which went down a treat. read more

Tonight I had my boyfriend call and place a takeout order and it turned out he called a location that was a mile away. When I got to the location on mill I asked for my order and they told me it's at the other restaurant. I asked If I cancled the order there if I could get one here. The guy working said "no because it's already made over there" He continued to tell me that he won't have me order from the location I was at because its not that far to go pick it up. I told him I didn't have my car available right now and he said "so? You can take a scooter. You have the app right?" Shocked by how rude he was I just decided to leave. Either way that order never got picked up. I understand that there was a mistake made on my side but I can't believe how the bartender rudely responded. Pretty much refused to serve me. I wasn't trying to get anything for free. All I wanted was some food without having to travel further than across the street. With or without a scooter. read more

So, Cornish pasty has plenty of restaurant and this one is special because it's mostly a bar but.. Marie is the most amazing human being and waitress you could ask for. I asked for extra lime and she gave me two whole limes, which is borderline incredible. I had the absolute best conversation with Marie and If you get the opportunity to be served by her take it. She is amazing and made my terrible night turn into an incredible one. Obviously the food and and drinks are fantastic but this is no news to anyone that has been here previously. Marie made this potentially one of the greatest experiences I have had at any of the restaurants. I had the meatball pasty and my friend had the traditional pasty. Both were very tasty. The red lights in the bar area is different. Everyone looks better in red lights. We did not know that there is a bar side - counter service and a restaurant - full service side. We sat down and no one came by so we walked to the bar and ordered. The bartender was defensive about the bar and restaurant. He did soften up and gave us recommendations as my friend pronounced pasty correctly. So I have been excited to visit this establishment for a while. Visited with a group of friends while my food was being prepared, went to order a second drink and the bartender informed me he didn't want to serve me another drink. When I asked him why he didn't want serve me another drink he replied I just don't. At no point did I display any negative or inappropriate behavior that would justify his blatant disrespect. At this point I asked for my check and informed the bartender I left him a generous tip despite his hostility. I have never been treated with so much disrespect at any establishment. Did not seem to be much reason either...not too busy. The only server worth a good mention is "goth girl". We got to watch her work her tail off and be kind to her patrons. This is quite possibly the best food ever. I had the bangers and mash and the shepherd's pie pasties. So, so good. The crunchy crust is perfect with the savory insides. I was watching the cook and he looked like he was loving it. Like each piece was art. I also had the long wongs wings. They are perfect. I got the hot ones. Was tempted to try insane, but glad I chose hot. Made my nose run and sweat to bead on my forehead. They were perfectly crunchy and delicious. I'm actually kind of jealous. The service was relaxed, chilled and friendly. The server was knowledgeable on not only the food but the tap selections. We ordered a large Greek salad and a cottage pie pastry to share. Salad was fresh and crunchy, dressing was home made and delicious! Cottage pie pastry was yummy! I could tell the pasty part of the pie was made in house- wonderful! This place was recommended by our concierge and a lady on the street corner on Mils Ave! Was an awesome vibe this place had! Our server Andrea was amazing! Exceptional customer service! We had the appetizer of house fries with cheese and jalapeños, the peppers were hot but the cups were so good! I ate the Royale with cheese Pasty and my girlfriend had the Oggie (original pasty) and wow!!! So awesome! It came out so fresh, hot, and really great flavor! Delicious menu that is unique to anywhere I have been. The menu is huge with savory goodness and a nice selection of beers to boot. At the same time the service is very slow and hard to find after your initial order. The restaurant is gigantic and one of the darkest lighting situations i have ever sat in. This cozy little bar has the best food, drinks, and service on Mill Avenue. I go here at least once a week for lunch, and they treat me like family. I highly recommend the tandoori wings. I've had them at other locations but none are as consistently delicious as at this one. It might be small and crowded at times but well worth it. If it's too crowded it's super close to the original location on Hardy and University. Great beer selection, and their vegan/vegetarian pastys are great, often better than the meat based versions. Great food and I love love love the Old Town Scottsdale and original Tempe locations. However the service here has been disastrous the two times I have been to this location. Servers are entirely apathetic. Three of us are currently sitting at one of their outside tables waiting for our food and wondering what we might've done to offend our server (bright pink hair) to the point where she is treating us with such disdain. It's like she would rather get a root canal than speak with us. I understand that everyone has a bad day and want to be empathetic, but this is entirely unacceptable. I stepped off the train, hiked to the top of Hayden Butte because it was there, and asked a local on the peak where I should eat. Cornish Pasty Co. was the unequivocal answer. I took them up on the suggestion and have to admit I was blown away. I didn't know I wanted a pasty, but the the Guinness Stew Pasty leaped off the menu at me. Wow. The pastry is the thin, crisp and perfectly browned. The stew was rich, savory, meltingly tender and redolent of rosemary. Paired with a Guinness stout, I didn't want it to end. I have two more nights in Tempe; at least one of those will be spent at Cornish Pasty. read more

Spoiler alert: The best pasty in town can be found right here! No matter what you're craving you'll find it here. From veggie (eggplant parm), vegan (vindaloo), to something hearty (bangers and mash, pot pie) or the ever-amazing Cubano... I've honestly never had a bad pasty here. Whatever you want, you'll find it here. (Don't forget about the incredible pasta salad or grilled cheese + soup options, if that's your style.) The beer selection is on point, whether you want a simple Guinness, or a solid IPA (Dragoon for days), they've got you covered. If you don't know what you want the bartenders are at the ready with a solid recommendation. While small, the intimate atmosphere is welcoming and friendly without being overbearing like *some* English pubs that I won't mention. The bartenders know your name before you know theirs (for reference Kylie, Andrea, and Janessa are always on-point). It's not your typical Mill Ave. scene and that's a welcome relief from the fake tans and don't-talk-to-me attitude. If I had to ding them for anything it's the lack of happy hour, but frankly I've never spent an unhappy hour there, so there you go. I'm sure the average person would love Cornish Pasty Co., however I didn't have such a great experience. To preface, I have an unfortunate circumstance where I'm allergic to onions, so sadly that limits what I can order when eating at a restaurant. So because of this, I noticed immediately that many of the items on the menu included onions. I asked the waitress if there was any chance they could be removed or excluded altogether, and she informed me this was impossible because all their pasties are pre-ordered from another location and reheated on site to serve. This surprised me, and also had me questioning how much more the cooks do besides heating pre-made food and sticking it on a plate since the majority of their menu are the pre-made pasties. My 8-year-old cousin could do that, but the cooks here get paid for it. While I don't agree with their business practices and believe it lowers the quality of the food, it wasn't more than somewhat of an annoyance. The real problem came when I ordered a pasty, and after questioning the waitress and her insisting it didn't contain onions, it actually did. And I paid the price for it and suffered a reaction because the waitress gave me incorrect information. As I said, I'm sure the average person would enjoy this place. But my experience was sadly very dreadful, and I will not be back anytime soon. read more

You really can't go wrong with the food at CPC, I've eaten at several of the other locations and just recently stopped in to try the one on Mill Ave. I had a vegetarian friend in town and quite frankly, I'm the exact opposite in terms of dietary preferences but I recalled that Cornish Pasty Co had a lot of options on the menu that might work for her...both of us ended up very happy with the decision to eat here! read more

Stopped here Friday. Great pasties. My wife grew up in Lansing, Michigan and when they drove up to UP, would get pasties so after eating here my last trip I had to take her this trip. With for adults, one kid and a baby we almost didn't stay due to the small space, but a big booth was open so we sat there. Large menu, had no idea what I wanted. Hell. Yes. This mini-Pasty is an amazing little hole in Mill Ave that transports you to another place altogether. If you didn't know you were in Tempe, it would feel like Portland or Seattle or half of Southern California. It's pared down to the essentials: a half-dozen or so rotating pasty varieties, a smattering of soups and apps, and about a dozen draft beer options with one rotating tap handle, all crammed into a shoebox with nothing but a bar and a couple teeny tiny two-tops. But that pared-down space is also super cool, with tin ceilings, funky light fixtures, and super cool subway tile walls. If you've ever been on Mill and thought "Man, I wish Cornish Pasty Co was closer," this place is the answer to your hand pie prayers. read more

The food was good here. They have lots to choose from and the menu is unique. Beer selection and tap selection were great for it being a smaller restaurant. The only downside is the service was rather slow. We had to track down a waiter to order our food. We then had to flag down someone else to get our second round of drinks. I came came to walk my puppy at mill ave, as we were done I started to look for a place to grab a bite. The only problem was I had my Belgium with me and didn't know who was pet friendly. I walked for about 20 minutes looking for a "pet friendly sign" but no place had it . As I was passing Cornish pasty a bar tender by the name of Marie told me they were pet friendly and even offered my dog water. The customer service she offered me was beyond great.
