Absolutely terrible, I'd give it zero stars if I could. First off, the seating is cramped and the area is noisy. The service is terrible as the staff are very rude and take forever to get to you. The food is disgusting. The soup is lukewarm and the grilled cheese is tasteless. The pies are the worst I have ever tasted. The crust is soggy and doughy, and the filling and sauce border on rancid. Additionally, the meal was very overpriced, as they charged us over 50 dollars for something that probably cost around 5 dollars to make. All in all, just a terrible restaurant, worst place on Mill Ave and possibly in all of Tempe. I wouldn't feed their food to my dog. read more

Walked around Downtown Tempe this afternoon for some lunch this afternoon and settled on Cornish Pasty Co. We were debating on a pizza place up the street we walked passed the day before but I could tell my husband really wanted to eat here. "As you wish, Buddy." Who am I kidding? That rarely happens. He usually lets me pick wherever I want to go, but I know when he sees anything that has turkey, gravy and cranberry sauce on the menu he's always super stoked. The man loves his comfort food! Pasties (pronounced Paztees) who knew? Not us, lol. Luckily, we overheard the sweet bartender pronounce it correctly and didn't have to go on sounding like silly tourists. They're kind of like twisty flat pot pies, that are cut in half and filled with yummy goodness- kind of like an Empanada but bigger, if you will. Anyhow, the menu is expansive and promises over 40 pasties. From signatures like Shepherd's Pie and Bangers and Mash to Premium ones like the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Portobello Chicken as well as Vegetarian pasties like the Veggie Cottage pie and the Eggplant Parmesan. 4 different Vegan pasties made daily- available upon request. So. Many. Choices. Almost every bit of the menu is made in house and from scratch, so it took a bit of time for our food to come out. No biggie as we weren't too pressed for time. My husband chose the Pilgrim ($11.50)- house roasted turkey, sweet potato, grilled onion and housemade stuffing, with sides of red wine gravy and cranberry sauce. He really liked this one, from the roasted turkey to the hint of sweetness from the sweet potato, delicious. I chose the Mexican ($10.50)- Mexican-spiced simmered steak, potato, egg, hatch chili and melted cheddar with a side of sour cream and salsa. So goood. The crust on these are perfectly executed. Flaky and buttery. I wish I had taken photos of our pasties but forgot until we were halfway done with lunch. Boo My husband asked me if I was going to get a cocktail, no sooner had I said no since I wanted to grab a coffee later- did our lovely bartender ask me if I wanted to see the bar menu to which I immediately replied, "yes, please." When in Tempe and without kids, right? Ha I ordered the Allison a gin concoction with bit of cucumber and tonic ($8) and ordered a my first ever Irish Car bomb ($5) a half glass of Guinness and shot of Irish cream and whiskey. I didn't end up having the shot dropped in the glass to avoid flying home with a chipped tooth. It curdled a bit from the Irish cream hitting the Guinness but I would definitely get one again. We rounded out our meal with an order of the tandoori wings. ($9.50) They were nicely spiced and flavored with a good bit of char. Also completely delicious. I highly recommend these as well as both of the pasties we ordered. All in all, I would most definitely come back. Bummer all of their 8 locations are in AZ and Vegas! read more

Love Cornish Pasty! I couldn't tell you what pasty I get nor do I feel it necessary for me to tell you that in order to leave an adequately review because they are all amazing! Also they have a solid beer selection too. The one issue that I have but that is not worthy of them losing a star is their hours. Cornish used to be known as a great late night food and watering hole. Due to covid they changed their hours and have not extended them to what they used to be. As someone in the restaurant industry this made me sad when I would be getting off at 9:30/10 and was craving a tasty pasty but they were already closed during the week. I do want to end this review positively, however. Cornish is amazing and I will be absolutely be frequenting it for time to come. read more

Went here for lunch today and sat outside. Service was fine and everything was good, the lower rating is just for the overall quality of food. It's a unique menu and I can see how some people like it, but I wasn't impressed with the choice I made or other plates I saw. They don't allow changes or food to be left out, and since I don't eat mushrooms that limited a lot of the choices. Some of the salads and sides looked good though, so maybe I ordered the wrong thing. Not a bad place but not somewhere I'd recommend. read more

Wow! Didn't really know what to expect with it mostly being Pasty. But the flavors of the sauces that accompany the Pasty and the distinct combinations of flavors in the pasty as explained in the descriptions on the menu were amazing. I had the Cubano and that was the best of what we had that night....next to my Papago orange blossom! Next we had the tandoori wings and the roast beef dinner Pasty. Both amazing and the wings would be hard to beat anywhere. The night was topped off with the great personalities of Andrea (the bartender/waitress) and Darius the chef who was a character of positiveness as well. This was my first time at this CPC (CP?) location. I've been to the one in Phoenix, Scottsdale, and the original Tempe restaurant. I was nearby and decided to order some pastys to go. It's a small location, there's a couple of seats outside and some inside as well. I chose veggie chicken tikka masala (red curry), one of my favorites, and tried a new one: veggie pesto chicken. Both of these are made with Quorn, a brand of mock chicken that's not my favorite but it's okay. If everything else in the pasty meshes together, the chicken is secondary. I love my go-to pasty, bursting with flavor and spices from the green peppers, potatoes, and tikka masala sauce. It comes with a yogurt sauce which is sweeter than I'd like but a cool companion to the spicy flavor. I didn't really enjoy the pesto chicken; it had artichokes, mushrooms, mozzarella and pesto and a side of marinara sauce, which was good. I don't think the filling ingredients worked well together, at least not for me. Love that they have so many veggie options and even a few vegan ones. This is a great dining spot for eating outside during these cooler months. read more

Loved the slightly spicy Mexican pasty with steak, potato, egg, hatch chili, and cheddar with a side of sour cream and salsa. The pasties are big, and I was surprised how much I ate, but they were really good! Got take out the first time (is around the corner from the Renaissance Hotel). I visited a second time and ate upstairs, which has a pretty big bar area, but I thought it was a bit dark. I like the British pub atmosphere on the first floor better. I thought the "British style oven baked chips" aka french fries were a bit undercooked, but the Tandoori chicken wings were excellent. read more

I've been to their Phoenix and their other Tempe location and all was wonderful. This location however had a limited menu from the other locations. I ordered my first choice and they did not have it so I ordered my backup dish and again no can do. The bartender then said "let me tell you what we do have." Out of the whole menu there were 5 pasties available. I was so disappointed as we don't live here anymore and this was something I was craving as we were passing through. This is a neat little dining spot on Mill avenue in downtown Tempe. I strolled by on my way to House of Tricks but I HAD to pop in for a meal due to the savory menu and the indoor/outdoor nifty dining. Large windows in the brick face of the building open out into the street, so you can sit outside but still at the bar, or take a highboy table for your drinks and meals. Inside they have a combination of low tables, highboys, and bar seating. The diversity of their pastries is astounding, but if you don't happen to want a pastry that night, there are excellent salad options, too. What drew me in was the casual, hip comfortable atmosphere and the awesome 80's and 90's music. The music created great energy. I had a portabello mushroom pastry which was fantastic and a glass of house merlot, which was fine and wallet friendly, serving to wash down the pastry. The only down side is that there is not a bathroom in the restaurant. To use a bathroom, you need to get a key fob from a bartender, of which there is only one, and it is latched to a giant (like, 14' long) metal kitchen spoon. You have to go outside, around the corner, and go into a locked apartment building, and the public bathrooms are there. Weird. But a little charming, too. Give this place a try - great energy, indoor/outdoor seating, tasty savory (and sweet!) pastries, and a lot of fun. read more

I've been to cornish pasty a few times but finally giving it a review. This is the first time I've been to the Mill location. Theres a sign that says it's cozy inside and they ain't lying. Luckily they have seating outside for us big and tall dudes. There's enough variety on the menu to try something different every visit which I've done. Today I tried the Shepard's pie and my friend had the Reuben pasty. Both were delicious, the Shepard's pie came with ground lamb, mash potatoes, veggies, cheese with a side of red wine gravy. The crust was so flaky and moist and when you slather the gravy over it it doesn't get soggy from it. The Reuben was also tasty, it came with chunks of corned beef, sauerkraut, cheese and a side of 1000 island sauce. I don't think you'll go wrong with any one you choose, I've had 5 different ones and they were all consistently delicious! read more

Would like to see this franchise spread into SoCal as its a great concept that should work well everywhere in the US. Love Cornish Pasty! This was my first time at the Mill Ave location, I've usually only been to the Scottsdale one. This Cornish was a bit smaller, but still with indoor and outdoor seating. Lots of bar sitting/stools. It's a fun location to sit and eat on Mill. The Shepherd's Pie is my current favorite, and it was just as delicious here as their other location. I also love how many vegetarian pastys they make! They have a whole separate menu of some of the classic pastys, just vegetarian. Also, I love their bread. :) Perfectly flaky and warm! read more

The food is good, but go to the Scottsdale location so you can get a seat and a view. This place is smooshed into a alley-like space that is dark and there is almost no seating. Maybe take out and eat on the bench in the park (if they are not full of people). The food is similar to Scottsdale location. It is good, and I recommend you try the pasty here. Cool vibes. This place is small. But it's really cool and its on the corner so if you sit outside you have a great view. Compared to the other locations, I'd say this one is the smallest. There is only one large table inside of you have 5+ ppl. I'd say 6 comfortably. Service was speedy. It's a small place so it's hard for them to forget about you. The draft beers are great and the Pasty was phenomenal. Ordered the Pilgrim with a 14OZ Kilt-lifter. My girlfriend ordered the meatball Pasty with a glass of Orange Blossom. A local brew. What a great hole in the wall!! Love the decor and rock metal edge this place has. Go if you want to have a nice conversational meal with friends. Great selection of adult beverages (my dining buddy ordered a guava cider!! What?! Never heard of such a thing : ). The vegan pastie I had was great-do yourself a favor and order the vegan vindaloo. The subtle spicy heat will get you by the end. And unless you are super hungry don't order it with chips. I came came to walk my puppy at mill ave, as we were done I started to look for a place to grab a bite. The only problem was I had my Belgium with me and didn't know who was pet friendly. I walked for about 20 minutes looking for a "pet friendly sign" but no place had it . As I was passing Cornish pasty a bar tender by the name of Marie told me they were pet friendly and even offered my dog water. The customer service she offered me was beyond great. I have always loved Cornish Pasty! It was such a fun surprise to stumble upon their newest "hole-in-the-wall" location late night! I love walking and running on Mill Ave. during the night to experience the culture and music! It was great to see that there is a new late night food spot on Mill. The food was amazing and super heartwarming. I loved the soda bread that came with my soup! If you're a bread and butter type of person you have to try this place! I tried the Mill Ave location about a week after the University Dr location and they are both unique. This location is definitely smaller but in the middle of all things Mill Ave. They have a small patio that is nice to sit on and people watch. However it was very windy and cold the night I went and they don't have outdoor heaters so be mindful of that. But for being a busy weekend night the service was quick and attentive. The food was good! My friends compare a pasty to a fancy Hotpocket and I have to agree. This time I tried the Chicken Tikka Masala Pasty and was satisfied. The chicken was warm and tender and the sauce was great. Only thing I'd change would be to add more sauce as it tasted dry in some parts. If you're in the mood, be sure to try their Irish Car Bombs for only $5! read more

One of my favorite places on Mill. I stumbled in here with my boss while looking for some lunch to get to know each-other better over lunch and I have been coming back since. The staff are really fun to talk to, the food is great, the beer is cold (and they have a great selection) and its almost entirely bar seating? Sign me up! The Pasty was originally a working mans lunch. Think of it like a large, dense, delicious hot pocket and this place has some awesome twists. (Get the Cajun Chicken, Guinness Stew or Cubano. Go. Wanted to try this place the first time I walked past it because of the half in half out bar-- very cool. The place has a very interesting set up and interesting concept. Basically overstuffed empanadas made with calzone like wrapper. Freshly baked and beautifully presented, however slightly missed the mark on flavor. We tried the original oggie, chicken pot pie, and lamb vindaloo-- very meat centric which is usually my thing-- but really needed more sauce/ moisture. The gravies are great. They didn't have any more marinara so we couldn't get the meatball. Pass on the Scottish egg but the chips are awesome (we shoulda asked for mayo). I visited Arizona and happened to be in the area so I stopped by and checked out this place. First of all when I came inside, my first impression was: this place is very spacious and very dark! They have pool tables and I think more than one bar. I ordered The Oggie (The Traditional Pasty): steak, potato, onion & rutabaga (swede) with a side of red wine gravy or ketchup, which was recommended by the server. The taste is not bad, the crust is crispy (I think this is the secret) but I think it really lacked of meat. I also ordered a glass of Saved Red Blend red wine during happy hour, which I think the server forgot to deduct $1 from the price. No offense, but in my honest opinion, I think my mom makes more delicious pasties than Cornish's! read more

It's right across the street from Baked Bear, which is my favorite dessert spot in the area so that's a nice plus. read more

If you're looking for a small quiet bar to chill with your friends and actually hear what they're saying, look no further! This location is very small with just a bar top and a few tables inside to sit at. There's some outside tables but in that heat who wants to be there? My friend and I split a chicken pasty as they're pretty big and got some fries. Both were delicious! I almost wish I had gotten to stuff myself with the full pasty! Bathrooms are around the corner of the building so it's a bit more than your usual restaurant restroom jaunt. The staff was friendly as well and the Saturday we went it was pretty dead, with only 2 other small groups. All in all, it's a nice place to go and I'd go again. read more

A couple of my coworkers and I found this vegan restaurant and I have to say it was a good choice. I had the Veggie Rosemary Chicken the roasted red potatoes along with the red pepers was delicious. I didn't like the mustard cream sauce, next time I will ask for a different sauce. If you're looking for good Cornish pasties, go somewhere else. This place was horrible. (Warning: This is long. It was that bad.) This may have gotten 2 stars, only because of the green tile and lovely ironwork outside. If you're larger than a size 14, tall, or leggy, you are not going to fit. I'm 5'8", a size 8, and my tush barely fit on the crappy stools. The whole place looked...sticky. Wearing a skirt, I made very sure that my derriere was totally covered.The stool next to me had a fetching blue milk crate with a sign haphazardly taped on it, helpfully telling us it was broken. We moved outside because we were tired of Dude Server leaning against the bar, DIRECTLY in my personal space. I was suddenly self-conscious about my breath. His deodorant must have been stellar, 'cause he didn't exactly look "mountain fresh". We were sitting close to the POS , so one expects extra activity, but I was sitting with a drink, waiting for our unappetizing appetizer, and Dude Server actually threw a dirty bar towel across our space towards Frazzled Chick, narrowly missing my drink, where it plopped wetly in front of me. Frazzled Chick had her hair piled on top of her head in a messy "I don't feel like washing or brushing my hair" way. I get that not everyone likes makeup, but a smear of lip gloss would at least look like you care. For the love of Pete, don't look like you've got a hangover, guys. Quit looking so smug, Dude Server. Your establishment isn't that great. I honestly understand what they do is *exhausting*. But it would have been nice if they didn't look like they rolled out of bed and into yesterday's clothes. Get beer. Hard liquor? Get neat. They charge an extra $2.00 for tap water ice cubes. Their "special chips" aren't. We got cheese on ours. It wasn't totally melted, and obviously pre-shredded from Kroeger's. They turn cold and gummy FAST. The pasties were lackluster. I had the lamb and mint. My boyfriend had the shepherd's pie. His was decent. Mine was "meh". The pastry was tough and hard to cut. Food comes out, too piping hot to eat. You have to let it cool off. I'm pretty sure that's where the pastry turns to rubber. Almost no taste of lamb, and no taste of mint. The meat, what little there was of it, was smooshed into one end of the pasty. I honestly thought there might be something wrong with my taste buds. NO mushy peas. NO vegetables. NO sides at all, except that disgusting red wine "gravy". At least I could choke it down enough to warrant paying for it, but for $12, I want some freakin' sides. If you want a good, traditional, REAL Cornish pasty, I could suggest a (clean) pub, but I don't know if that would be advertising. Let's say there is another place in Phoenix that's OUTSTANDING and beautiful. With real English people. They know what pasties are supposed to be.
