Corner-Sushi is a secret gem in a hidden location in St. Augustine! Such an underrated Thai/Japanese restaurant! The staff was on their game, and the complimentary soup, crabstick sushi and the strawberry shortcake dessert were so good! This place needs to be discovered! Also got the gyoza & the crab rangoon which were both delicious. My husband loved the gyoza and my favorite was the crab rangoon! The sushi rolls we got were filling and flavorful, the sushi chef is on point and is secretly a master! Some of the best sushi I've had! In the pictures, the Godzilla (on the left), and the Crazy Girl (on the right) were both super delicious, and after that time, we got sushi delivered a number of times and each time was fantastic! I had high hopes as the sushi scene in St. Augustine is spotty. My assessment is that this place is OK, but not great. I still think Kingfish Grill and Tanks (in Murabella) do a better job. I stopped by on Saturday, and found the fish to be a little less than fresh... My experience was takeout. My take is as follows (based on my usual suspects): Tobiko w/quail egg: the best item I had. The eggs we're fresh and crunchy. Eel sushi: good, the second best item I had. Oddly, they doubled up the eel on the rice. I assume they felt one piece alone was not enough. Made eating it a little cumbersome. Seaweed salad: ok but needed more rice wine vinegar. When added at home, it was pretty good. Yellowtail sushi: wasn't as sweet (fresh, maybe) as I like. Ok, but not great. Salmon sushi: things started to get stale at this point. The fish was a little sour Tuna sushi: like the yellowtail, it didn't seem fresh. It was dry, separating into smaller pieces on the rice. The taste was bland Salmon roe sushi: ok, but also a little mushy (lacking freshness) although it still had a nice salty taste. It lacked the "pop" I expect The free appetizers we're a nice touch with the dumplings and sauce being quite good. They helped pull the review up to 3 stars. Like I said at the start, I'd rather hit a few other places for sushi, but will give this place another shot, dining in this time as the service on takeout was very prompt and cordial. read more

Yeah, so this place is a magic experience. I've been eating sushi for decades, and they were perfect in every aspect if I had any questions they have the answers, and I understand sashimi and quality of fish, and it was absolutely out of this world. I would highly recommend sitting at the bar because that's where we got great service from both the sushi chefs and the servers. Obviously I came without a budget, but still was happily satisfied with the final bill. I would give us six out of five stars if it was possible. read more

This is one of my favorite sushi places. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. Service has always been on point. On our recent visit I ordered sushi, sweet potato roll, tuna avocado roll and a special roll made with spicy tuna, crispy eggplant and a few other things. Sushi was fresh and very tasty. I thought the special eggplant roll was unique and delicious. For my taste they were a little heavy handed with the sauce. There was also a sauce on the sweet potato roll which I would have preferred to be plain. Next time I go I will just ask for it plain. Tuna and avocado roll was perfect and so fresh. My husband had a stirfry chicken dish with rice and veggies which he enjoyed. They always serve a complimentary small appetizer which is like a crab rangoon eggroll and a complimentary dessert bite of a cake (coffee flavored). One day I might remember to take pictures but that day was not today. If I had one request I would like a dessert bite in a different flavor as I am not a coffee lover. But I think it is a great restaurant in St. Augustine. read more

They offered a pretty dessert cake in the end but I was full. The price with tip ended up being $20. Not bad at all. I would come here again. We visited this restaurant yesterday and were greeted with such pleasure from the staff. From the outside it did not look like much but inside it was very nice looking and clean, a pleasant surprise. From the outside you wouldn't expect much and my fiance was even a little skeptical when we pulled up and as soon as we walked in he said "I guess you can't judge from the outside!" We were seated quickly and the staff was amazing. They gave us a little mini roll complimentary to start our meal which was so nice and it was delicious! What a delightful little place! And I mean, "little." What they don't have in space they certainly don't lack in service or flavor. For those who know my reviews, the spicy tuna roll is my gauge for any new sushi place I try. They know how to do it right! Flavorful, just the right amount of spice, full of the finely chopped filling, and very little rice. My husband and I tried a number of rolls. We ordered some simpler choices (such as salmon & avocado, spicy tuna, spider roll), and some of their specialty rolls (such as the Crazy Girl, Dragon Roll, Three Stooges Roll). A delightful "first" and visual surprise for me was the Three Stooges, which was wrapped in a unique two-toned wrapper-- beautiful to look at, and was delicious. I failed to mention that at the start of our meal, we were given a small sample (on the house) of the Yo-Yo roll, which was good, but since I don't usually order sushi with cream cheese, it was nice to taste it. Dinner also came with a choice of two soups. My husband got the clear soup (which had mushrooms) and liked his. I thought the miso was right on par and was at the perfect temperature to sip out of the bowl (yes, I used the little spoon, but then I did it "old school" after a while). The restaurant ended our meal with a small bit of dessert, which was the layered cappuccino cake that I've seen at Asian (Chinese) restaurants. Since I really like that kind of cake, I enjoyed it, and it was a nice touch on their part. The only things I wished were different (aside from that I wished it were closer to home) is that I thought some of the rolls could have been wrapped a little tighter, but trust me--it didn't stop me from enjoying my meal! The other is that I didn't feel they needed to use those LED flashing/color-changing lights to decorate some of their dishes (I saw some at other tables; fortunately we didn't get any). I'm one who'd prefer to see the "food" as the main attraction, not flashing neon colors. The place gets busy, so you might have to wait a bit to get your order. But the waitress was very good about checking on us and apologizing for the wait. The way I see it, that's just par for the course when you're having sushi. After all, it is a customized order, freshly prepared by hand, and (usually) by only a few chefs! And c'mon....it's SUSHI! So worth the wait, sushi! read more
