What has happened to my favorite (vacation) coffee shop ? My husband & I went for campfire mochas this morning- what used to be my favorite drink there. Last year, we went a few times and were underwhelmed (hot drinks served just barely warm, more foam than coffee) , but we figured we would try again this year since they used to be SO VERY GOOD & we did not want to give up on them. So, it being a cool , rainy morning, we headed there with high hopes. We ordered (mine with oat milk) and the guy making it was taking so long that I commented to my husband I was afraid it wouldn't be hot (he had the coffee in cups sitting on the counter for a while, then came back and steamed the milk and finally added it. To mine, he didn't add marshmallows , to my husbands, he did . So my husband asked if I get marshmallows too , & the guy said oh yeah & added them. I thanked him and he just walked away. But then , we both were super disappointed in our drinks. Neither of us could even taste chocolate or anything but bitter coffee that tasted like the end of a pot. There was way more foam than coffee and it was lukewarm at best . I honestly make way better lattes at home. I am sad to say that we have no reason to go back . There wasn't anything that we liked about the coffee we had today and it was a huge disappointment. Also, just adding here that when I got on the website to see the menu before we went, I was offered a $5 coupon/ discount if I gave them my email address , which I did and never received the discount. Stopped in for coffee this morning. What a sweet place for a break. We had the Lavender Honey Latte and the organic cacao mocha. Beautiful presentation and soo good. Today, we stumbled upon this restaurant called the corner perk. These folks got it right! As we all know, the restaurant business is fast paced; you get your food eat it and leave.. Not at the corner perk. I had the opportunity to meet the owner josh and his lovely wife. I mean literally, they weren't rushed, they took their time and engaged with each customer. Not only was their customer service great, but their coffee...they roast their own coffee right on the premises. How many times do you get a chance to have a cup of freshly roasted coffee. Everything right down to the salad dressing was homemade. The food was delicious!! I highly recommend taking the time to enjoy this experience. You will not regret it! read more

The food was amazing. The service lacked. We had a new server she was sweet. Honestly it was one of the other girls who seemed like everything bugged her and if you asked her anything it was a problem. My husband got the steak skillet and t was cooked and seasoned to perfection! But his eggs were over done and not how he requested. We didn't try be coffee but he got a mimosa, not much for what you pay. My Bloody Mary was delicious. I ate the shrimp and grits and it was good. Wish there was maybe more shrimp or the ratio of grits to shrimp was more on the same level. It was good. Probably wouldn't return because of how long the wait was and the service. read more

Corner Perkins Cafe is an adorable coffee shop. We popped in for some much needed fuel before hitting the road. The guy that took our order was knowledgeable and had tried quite a few things on the menu so could give us suggestions (we like to try different things). Corner Perk also has many options as far as dairy alternatives, which is always nice for us. There was no wait when we went in although there were quite a few patrons inside and it wasn't too long after placing our order that we were heading out the door. Let me preface by saying I'm a coffee nerd. I'm only satisfied when I can get perfectly extracted espressos and velvety milk cream marks on my typical macchiato order. Anyways, i was staying in Bluffton for a few days and was happy to find a non-Starbucks coffee establishment. Friendly staff. Place is cute. Waitresses are even more cute. One looks just like a young Eva Green. I was kinda smitten. But another gal, a mature blonde, wears the most bizarre make-up. Totally caked on. Unnecessary because looks like she'd be attractive without the layers of ridiculous make-up. The coffee? Pretty good. But not outstanding. Ordered my usual macchiatos during my visits. Score them B or B+ for decent extraction but cream of the milk was a little over-foamed. Like I said...I'm a coffee nerd with ridiculously high standards. On my last visit I ordered a slice of their chocolate cake. It was really tasty. My advice: definitely come here instead of a lousy Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts for coffee. Sit down. I'm new to the area, and having a husband that is a Barista, this was the first place to visit. The first time we went there was a festival happening in the area but they were able to manage it quick. The second time I went I felt more like home, it was more personal and the coffee was better. The third time I've been here I brought my parents and they love the coffee (they are very picky Puertorricans l, and they love strong coffee). The brunch was great. The food is fresh and it make's a difference in the taste. It is a really nice place to have a good time. read more

Driving in from Savannah and getting a little sleepy in the afternoon, we promptly pulled over when we saw a coffee place. Now, it is cute, cute, CUTE with a capital C. Atmosphere like crazy. Little plants on all the tables, chalkboards, you name it. However, while I would have ordered a pastry, it was a bit confusing at the counter, so I couldn't really see what options (if any) were available. I ended up with a honey bee latte (with local honey, apparently), and espresso for the husband. Paying with a debit card, I ended up with a text message about earning loyalty stars. LOVE ME SOME COFFEE. I only ordered a plain Almond milk vanilla latte but it tasted like heaven. When the kind girl asked us for a 16 or 32 ounce coffee we both quickly said 32!! We couldn't believe the size. It was like drinking a coffee Big Gulp. There were some many things I can't wait to come back and try. They also sell bagged coffee by the pound and everything looked and smelled delicious. They featured seasonal specialities like the Lavender Latte which change by the season. I ordered my cinnamon brown sugar latte with the month's special coffee of the month which was monte verde Brazil and it was fabulous. The worker that waited on us was super friendly and accommodating. My parents got pour overs and loved them. They also both got a cookie, which they said were dried out and not very fresh. After reading the reviews for this place I was pretty excited to check it out. I'll go through my experience step-by-step: Entering the restaurant: this place was cute, from the outside I was pretty excited to get in and see what it was all about as the outdoor seating seemed cozy so I figured inside would be the same. The inside was nice as well, not very many tables, and I really couldn't figure out if I was supposed to sit down at a table or order at the counter or if there was a hostess or if I was supposed to seat myself. Ordering and finding a table: I walked up to the counter and did not. Price any menus with descriptions (after sitting down I did notice them in a few places, but they weren't obvious when trying to figure out where I was supposed to be and what I was supposed to be doing). The kid behind the counter was NOT helpful at all, he just stared blankly at my husband and I and occasionally talked to the girl next to him. As I looked at the hanging chalk board, one of the only things I knew what I would be getting was French toast, so I ordered that. My husband was trying to figure out what things were and did the same method of choosing and got the omelette. We had read about the great coffee so we were so excited to try it. I got the pour over May River and my husband got the Pluff Mud. We then tried to find a table: Almost every table was dirty so we sat at a dirty table and I tried to find someone to wipe it. I finally saw a guy wiping table and asked if he could please wipe ours down. We ended up switching tables as he seemed to be in no hurry to really do his job. As I tried to pull the chair out from the table it was so heavy! Then it was beyond uncomfortable, but I'm here to eat, not be so comfy I feel like I'm home in my pj's enjoying my coffee, so I let it slide. To this point, it was just really confusing and frustrating to an extent. Food: Our pour over coffee came out first and we thought that was really cool. I was so excited to try a coffee brewed right in front of my eyes. I mixed in a little cream and a smidge of sugar... took a sip, excited for the "best cup of coffee Bluffton has to offer".... and... bleh... omg it was SO BAD!! It was like a bad cup of coffee from Denny's. I couldn't even finish it. My husband tried it and said it was absolutely terrible and to him it tasted like water, sewer water. My husband's coffee was alright, but neither was worth the $3.25 per cup. I may get backlash for this but, steer clear of their pour over coffee...not worth it...not good. Now the food itself... the French toast, tasted like something I would have made myself at home. It was nothing special, it wasn't bad, I just wouldn't really say much besides "meh." My husband said his omelette was good but had way too many onions in it. We ended up paying $36.64 for our meal (with a tip, who was I tipping? The kid who rang us up, because he did jack! The slow table busser who obviously didn't want to be there? Or the server who just dropped our food off and never checked on us?). This meal was WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! Overall: unless their specialty coffee drinks are the ones that are amazing, I wouldn't recommend this place at all. The food was meh, the coffee was awful, and the whole experience itself was a pain in the you know what. The items were WAAAAY overpriced and not worth the money. I would not go back, the only reason this got 2 stars was due to my husband seeming to like his meal. If he drags me back, I'll attempt a different coffee and meal and cry a little as I hand them my credit card to pay...and then I'll post another review (and hopefully a better one). read more

This place was cute and has a terrific atmosphere. My biggest knock however is coffee. This normally wouldn't be enough to knock a star off, but Corner Perk has a lot to say about how much they care about the coffee. When I was there I got a latte. As someone who makes their own lattes at home my expectations may be a little high but the drink was foamy, not well poured, and the flavor was lackluster. I couldn't taste the espresso in the drink, only the syrups. The food was good, but nothing special. The presentation on their website looks significantly better than reality. Again, I'm not saying it looked bad, but it I could have plated it similarly at my house. The biggest saving grace? Dog friendly patio!!! We brought our lab/border collie mix there and within minutes the waiter brought a bowl of water for him. This restaurant is good, but could benefit from meeting the expectations they set on their site. Maybe we just came on a bad day. read more

This is place is mediocre at best. But I guess when your options for good coffee are limited you have to settle. Dont bother with anything 'fresh squeezed' or 'fresh fruit' as you will get the following; a wedge of squeezed fruit (lemon), a ton of syrup and tap water. First let me start off the review saying the food was incredible. I have not had food that fresh in a long time. The coffee was equally amazing. I am grateful that we went here. The reason I took off one star had to do with how this restaurant is listed on yelp. The restaurant is listed as a family friendly restaurant. They even have high chairs. Maybe my partner and I went at the wrong time. However we got looks from both staff and from patrons when our baby came in. He wasn't crying or being fussy. He was baby babbling and not very loud. Overall I would go there again I really enjoyed the food and coffee. It is a very clean restaurant and has a lot of options for both coffee and food.
