It's a beautiful drive to this restaurant. The location is lovely with outdoor, porch and indoor seating. We would recommend the salmon sandwich and the "wedge" salad with shrimp. First-time visit to Buffaloes in Palmetto Bluff. We sat in the screened-in outdoor area and the ambiance is genuinely outstanding -- 10/10. The setting is peaceful, the views are lovely, and Palmetto Bluff itself is gorgeous. That part of the experience was excellent. Unfortunately, almost everything else fell short. The food was average at best. The appetizers were clearly the strongest part of the meal; once the entrees arrived, things leveled off into "fine but nothing special." For the price point, average isn't good enough. Service was the real problem. Our waitress repeatedly forgot about our table. Menus were still sitting on the table when the appetizers arrived. Water glasses sat empty for long stretches. No one cleared plates, so we eventually started stacking and clearing the table ourselves. When staff finally checked on us and we asked for refills, they charged for the kids' second Cokes. That felt particularly nickel-and-dime after the neglect. When you're spending around $300, you shouldn't have to bus your own table or chase basic refills. The wait staff left a strongly negative impression. Bottom line: Come for the beautiful Palmetto Bluff setting and the appetizers. Temper expectations on the rest of the food and especially the service. The ambiance is hard to beat, but the overall experience didn't match the price or the location. read more

So good!! The food here is really excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice. The outside would be especially nice in the fall or spring when the weather is cooler. (the church directly across the street is beautiful). My family and I came here twice on our vacation to Palmetto Bluff, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times the food was excellent. My only complaint is that the menu was basically the same. (I would've hoped for some different dishes since many people dine here multiple times throughout their stay because there are very limited options on Palmetto Bluff itself). The staff were generally friendly and attentive to my large party. I would certainly come back here and recommend it to other visitors/vacationers. read more

We were road tripping through and were told to stop in bluffton since it was particularly beautiful (and it was!). Buffalos, was also pretty good. I got this intense tuna melt and we also split some artichoke dip. The service was extra good and attentive and I appreciated the togo cups for the iced tea. Lovely location in Palmetto Bluffs small village area. Inside and outside eating options offered. The restaurant was recently acquired by the Resort from independent owners. Makes sense. That said, there are a lot of "bugs" to fix-- service, service skill set and food. The review is based on dinner service not lunch. We went last week as a family group of 11- always tough on restaurants to handle. Knowing this I spent time in advance explaining our preferred outcome -- seating at a round table so we could talk. Was told they couldn't guarantee but they'd do their best. Night of dinner we show up and they proceed to seat us separately at 2 rounds tables. Had we known we'd have preferred the usual long table even though communicating is though. We decided to just go with the flow. Each table had different servers. Ours was enthusiastic but had little to no experience. Management threw her in the "deep end."not good for her or us. A lot of trouble with wine service ( I'll bring you a bucket -- for your red wine...pouring too much wine in the glasses etc. food ordering not so good....food average at best. Hamburgers were over cooked, dry, etc, Ahi Tuna appetizer turned out to be a spread-- ok but shouldn't you mention it's a spread? My chicken came with really nice asparagus. Only they had a super salty dressing that made them inedible. I seriously like writing good reviews and don't like just pointing out flaws but the evening was just not good. The burger here was solid and I enjoyed the fries. They had local brews, which were a nice complement. The menu is diverse and there are a mix of families with kids and adult looking for a quiet evening. They shuttle the kids outside, to keep the indoor ambiance a bit more adult. It's extremely kid friendly - they offer etch-a-sketches and doodling devices for kids, put Sour Patch Kids in the lemonade, etc. Service was a tad rough around the edges, but everyone was kind and accommodating. It's just a bit slow, so don't expect to rush in and out if you have another agenda. read more

I went to Buffalo's for the first time with a group and we were looking forward to a wonderful time. The location cannot be beat, the views are incredible and the restaurant itself is quite lovely. Unfortunately, the food and service did not live up to the location. Several of our meals were just not good. The salmon BLT was almost impossible to pick up and eat as it was. The tuna melt was open faced, but not mentioned on the menu as being that way. The veggie burger was juicy, but too soft for the hard ciabatta roll that it was on. We did enjoy the french fries and the sweet potato fries, and the carrot cake that we all shared was delicious as well They added a service charge for our meal, which is fine, but it would've been nice to be aware ahead of time Also they could not provide individual checks. The group had to be divided up to no more than three on a check. read more

We had a really great experience here. Even though we stopped in during an extremely busy Sunday brunch, the staff was kind, efficient, and made us feel cared for. On Sundays, you have the option to take part in the full brunch buffet or order off the a la Carte menu. We opted for the latter and were so glad because even just the single portion was filling. I ordered the traditional breakfast option that was along the lines of the typical diner staple "2 Eggs-any-style plus sides". Buffalo's version was anything but basic: complete with fresh fruit, baguettes slices, crispy bacon, and scrambled eggs, the entire meal was full of flavor. Our waitress was the true highlight. She was unfazed by the dietary requests our table made and ensured that all food was received in a timely manner. Our interest was to visit Palmetto Bluff. In order to do so, we had check in with the gate guard tell them we were going to Buffalo's for lunch. At the gate, they provide you with CD to listen as you drive along the roads in Palmetto Bluff into the town of Wilson. Once in the town we entered Buffalo's and enjoyed their shrimp tacos. We also enjoyed their butternut squash soup which was also very good. We eventually enjoyed a long walk through the town of Wilson which was quite quaint. read more

The ambiance was really nice. It is located across from the water with beautiful oak trees with Spanish moss. We didn't make a reservation so didn't mind waiting for a table. We had really yummy cocktails while we waited. The bartender was quick and friendly. We requested outside seating bc it was really chilly inside. They still sat us inside. They give kids an erasable scribble pad. Ours kids loved them. Our server was so backed up that someone else took our drink order. The server took our order for food and didn't come back until well after it was delivered. One person didn't get their meal. When she finally came to check in everyone else was already done eating. She said their meal accidentally went to another table. Our waters were empty as were our cocktails. The kids needed more ketchup. The manager offered to bring free dessert to the kids for the inconvenience. Unfortunately they don't have any dessert that caters to kids. On a good note, the meatball appetizer, Caesar salad and shrimp and grits were all delicious. I would recommend the food and atmosphere but the service was really bad. read more

When our dear friend was planning our visit to the Bluffton area she stated " I have to take you to Buffalos!" So on Saturday morning with glorious October weather we arrived at Buffalo's at 11 am. We arrived at 11:02 am late for breakfast but just in time for an incredible lunch. Two of us had the detox salad which was one (if not the absolute best) salads we have ever had. I added blackened chicken as my protein and it was perfection! Another in the group had a very filling chicken salad wrap that she opted to have with this amazing quinoa salad. Finally, the BLT made with toasted Brioche was exquisite. The mimosas were the perfect blend of OJ and champagne....The Bloody Mary was fabulous. I visit SC often and always search for new places to fall in love with. This place is great - way off the map and close to the water. You can't help but love this place. Situated on a private plantation, just a few yards from the water, it is very charming. A large outdoor patio with covered tables is an awesome way to enjoy your surroundings. I had a marvelous kale salad $14 one day & went back the next day to try the BLT $17 that my daughter had ordered. The $17 for the BLT made it a little less tasty, I can't possibly see how they justify that price - and I'm from Dallas where we see some crazy prices! The Bella Diva $13 wine was nice, but the dessert came up short on flavor, even though it looked great. Service could have been a little more attentive, but the servers were friendly. read more

We dined at Buffalo's many times during our stay at the Montage. It was a perfect spot for our family since we are more "casual" folks. The breakfast bar is a great choice if you want to try a little bit of everything. My favorites were the grits, sticky buns & bacon. For dinner, I LOVED the fried chicken w/ collard greens and banana bread (more like French toast) w/ peach syrup. My husband had the pot roast and it was amazing too. The one & only little hitch: on the kid's breakfast menu it was written that the cereal came w/ fruit, but when they brought it out it had no fruit & the server said it did not come with fruit. Maybe if there was a few strawberries or bananas we would feel a little better about spending $7.00 for cereal & milk. read more

The halibut that was said to come with potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower arrived looking boiled and sloppy with a weird mix of carrots, potatoes, squash and sun chokes, all of which were still too hard and raw to eat. It was the end of the night and it appeared like the remnants of the day were dumped in the dish. By the way, sun chokes, especially raw, are not something to spring on someone. Google "fartichokes" if you want to know more. I said something to the server and he brought out a side of fresh, hot broccolini.
