Today I tried The Brooklyn! Oh my goodness, it was amazing, toasted rye, tasty pastrami, mustard and cheese straight off the grill. It was so delicious I had to write a review on the spot. They have so many delicious things on the menu I'll have to return soon to try something different soon, or grab another Brooklyn, because this sandwich transported me to New York! Service is great. Dine in or take out. Ambiance is chill, social, deli type. Plenty of parking.

Inside of the deli. Super cute.

Pretty deli in the heart of Bluffton. Modern farmhouse style with ample seating. They have amazing salads, sandwiches, baked goods and a nice drink selection. Pellegrino, spindrifts, sodas, high noon, beers, sweet tea and more. I have had their Greek salad before and it was amazing. Today I tried their turkey burger with sweet potato fries. Talk about heavenly. It was a generous portion on the patty while still being soft and not dense. It had a spicy chipotle type of sauce with tomatoes (thinly sliced, just right) red onion, lettuce and pickles. They put the fries in a separate box so that they didn't get soggy which was appreciated. I always get honey mustard when I have sweet potato fries and their honey mustard sauce was perfect. Finished it off with a lemon square. Super full and super happy. Can't wait to try their Gauchito next which looks amazing.

The 46 Italian was very tasty! Bread texture and taste worked very well with the plentiful Italian meats and veggies. Wasn't planning to eat the whole sandwich but couldn't stop! Looking forward to eating my way through the menu. Great ambiance in the dining area.

20 years and they never fail. Consistent service and food. Great "Old Town location and vibes. I always get the Downtown Deli with chicken. Hubby had a Mother Clucker for the first time. He loved it. He's been getting the 278 Traffic Jam for 20 years. This is a change for him.

They use a cheese blend round bun. It really isn't a turkey club. It's more of a turkey sandwich with the fixings of a club. What I did not like at all was the bread. It totally killed the sandwich for me. It left a bad after taste. I can't really explain it. It just wasn't good. The turkey was ok. For the price of the sandwich though, I would have expected more turkey on it. There is a much better option across the street. Try Downtown Deli. It is superior to this establishment. Again, just my opinion. Try it for your self.

The bread they use is similar to an airy pizza crust, and topped with their three blends of cheese that are melted onto the bread before the meats and toppings are added. I've had almost the entire menu over the years, but my favorite is the simple sliced turkey, with lettuce, tomato (which I opt out of sometimes just because I'm not a huge tomato on a sandwich guy, unless it's an actual tomato sandwich...), onion, and then I ask to add their garlic mayo and banana peppers, and sometimes jalapeños. Their turkey club is a second favorite if I'm craving bacon on my sandwich (they also have a jalapeño bacon!). Their other deli sandwiches are great, like the original with a mix of luncheon and other deli meats. I love their lesser known meatball sandwich and cheeseburger. My wife's favorite is the pastrami. The staff at Alvin Ord's are some of the nicest folks I've met in the restaurant industry, and they're always super helpful to new and old customers alike. The vibe of the shop is like a little beachside surf shop, super casual and comfy, with indoor seating at mismatched tables, along with two screened in porches--one that's dog friendly. I can't recommend this place enough. I'd eat here every other day if I could--and that's only because I usually turn my regular sized sandwich into two days of lunch.

Staff was friendly. But the avocado toast was on ciabatta bread (no one asked what kind of bread we wanted) and it was such a slim layer of avocado. Very disappointed. What I don't know is whether they have changed their toast for all locations and reduced the amount of avocado or was this a fluke or only typical of the Bluffton location. We will go back to the port royal location sometime this week because now I need to know! Oh and we tried the roasted potatoes which I have never tried before. The flavors/herbs were good but the potatoes were not cooked fresh so they were soft/chewy.

We were informed there's no pancakes and no waffles. Strike 1. We ordered the crab cake bene, the original shrimp and grits and the French toast with scramble. The French toast was fine. Nothing special. The scramble however was a complete joke. They clearly have a vat of their "side eggs" just ready for the scoopin. They were cold and oh so dry. My sister's crab cake entree was absolutely disgusting. The crab cake was orange on the inside, it was mushy and no discernible taste of crab whatsoever. It looked like a dark brown salmon patty my mama would make with a Double Q. The shrimp and grits. Wow and not in a good way. 50 percent of the bowl was onions. Both raw (and almost raw) onions and green onions. There were FOUR shrimp that were absolutely TINY (about the size of a Wild West shrimp from Longhorn) and they had the poop STILL IN THEM. Did I mention that this cost us ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!?!?!? I want to stress again.... Our server was great. I always feel guilty writing bad reviews but I just had to be honest. Yelp ya steered us the wrong way on this one.

A little background: The inside usually smells awful, they need to fix the kitchen vent hoods but don't so they leave all doors open. The hostess is usually pretty curt and dismissive. Simple well liquor cocktails are priced the same as specialty. The food is disappointing to varying degrees every time. The prime rib is clearly (admittedly high quality) roast beef lunch meat. Fried chicken sandwich was dry and burned. Shrimp and grits were obviously instant grits with a bunch of kraft cheddar. Usually three strikes and you're out. But... On my last visit: a friend's band was playing and bestie wanted to go so one last shot. I ordered the whipped goat cheese and pepper jelly bc I figured it didn't need any cooking so it would be fine, and it was! But I asked for baguette instead of a corn waffle and got the latter. When I reminded her that I asked for a baguette I got an eye roll, heavy sigh, and didn't see her again until about 30 minutes later when she silently and without eye contact dropped the check on her way to another table without even breaking stride. I was going to order another drink for the end of the set! But whatever, all for the best. Thank goodness I had cash so I didn't have to wait another hour for her to run my card. Never again. Too many great options close by...where the same local bands also play.
