Stopped by in the afternoon with some friends, around brunch time. I ordered one of their breakfast sandwiches, and unfortunately, it was not good at all. The potatoes on the side were also disappointing--they had an off taste, almost like a dirty sink. One of my friends ordered a club sandwich and found a hair in it, which completely ruined her appetite. On a positive note, the orange juice was good--no complaints there. It didn't seem too busy inside, and our orders came out in a reasonable amount of time. Ordering was self-service. Overall, though, the food quality really needs improvement. read more

The place is roomy, comfortable seating. it has never been an issue of being served because you order from the front on their devices or from the host? .the egg sandwich has fresh ingredients. I've been eating at this Corner Bakery location for over 10 years and they also cater the board meetings for my office. Once in a while they may get the order wrong but for the most part I have no complaints. The food is tasty, good portion sizes and the staff is very friendly. The restaurant is always clean and in the warmer months they offer a small outdoor seating section. I love the overnight oats and the harvest salad is my favorite item in the restaurant. read more

I've never been a big fan of Corner Bakery, so it'd been years since I visited one. I prefer Panera, but sadly, there aren't any locations in the loop. But I was in the mood for a salad, so I stopped in during my lunch hour. There were several patrons waiting to pick up their orders, but there was no one in line, so I walked right up to the register. The employee who greeted me was friendly and patient. I ordered the chicken noodle soup (cup) and a caesar salad with chicken. It cost $2 extra for the chicken. The food came out rather quickly and was packaged well. It cost about $16, which seemed a tad expensive for lunch, but it is downtown Chicago, after all. The soup was okay. It didn't have much chicken or much flavor. I ate it, but I wouldn't order it again. The salad portion was very generous, and it tasted pretty good. The chicken was cold, which sucked, but that didn't take away from the flavor. The dressing tasted okay, but it was much too thick. It was more like a spread and less like salad dressing. I took my knife and could spread it across the lettuce like it was butter. Even still, I enjoyed the salad. The salad also came with a very small piece of bread that was fresh. I'll probably give this location another shot during breakfast, or maybe I'll try a different type of salad. The restaurant was clean and very quiet. Food was good. Dining room was relatively clean. Bathrooms needed some serious attention in my opinion. They weren't filthy, but they definitely weren't clean. You can see ingrained dirt in the corners and the kids safety seat has visible dirt and grime on it. Yuck! My daughter loved her croissant. I had a lovely iced chai tea latte that I thoroughly enjoyed. My oatmeal was good albeit a little bit bland. Added a little pinch of salt to draw out the flavor and we were back in business. The blueberries tasted sweet and fresh! Hubby was frustrated when he ordered the eggs, toast, bacon and potatoes but it came with fruit instead. The source of his frustration being he wasn't told they were out of potatoes until after the fact (he's not a big fruit fan) and he still felt hungry after eating his meal. However, the manager or owner was much sweeter than the rest of the help and took an interest in our children. Gave my hubby a free cup of coffee. Thanks for that. He could tell we were traveling with our copious amounts of luggage and directed us to a door so we wouldn't have to get tangled up in the revolving door nonsense. We appreciated that. Note: this review covers a small catering order only If in need of some good food for a meeting or event you're in good hands with Corner Bakery. I needed a small breakfast and they delivered for me. However, I will emphasize "small". I think they oversell their portions a bit. Having ordered a fruit tray I'd say that it could amply freed half-to-two-thirds of what they list. Don't get me wrong, it was very tasty there just wasn't as much there as I'd have expected there to be. This location in particular did a fine job of executing the order, albeit a bit slow when I picked it up, so I'm sure they do great in normal food service as well. I had lunch with my sister here. We both only have an hour for lunch so I ordered an hour earlier for a 12:30 pm pickup time so we can eat at our leisure. This ain't Europe, we only get an hour and time is precious. I ordered for the both of us, two seperate orders that were pretty similar. I get there to pick up the orders and only mine is there. My sister's also under my name wasn't there. I waited and it got to 12:40 so I tell someone. She looks for the order and doesn't find it. She comes to my table while I'm eating my order and my sister arrives to watch me eat and she takes down the order and heads back to never be seen again. It's 1 pm and my sister nearly faints from hunger and heads to the cashier explaining what happened and the cashier enters another order. She finally gets her order but time as run out so she goes back to work hangry. My sister left and the woman from earlier appears again and didn't say anything to me. Really disappointing service. Food was meh. Tried the pesto pasta and it was watery. Uptown turkey avocado sandwich is a hit or miss sometimes. They'll toast the bread so it's really good sometimes and other times it's just meh. Today I ordered the same exact sandwich, however, when I saw it was incorrect I told the cashier. She told me I was WRONG and that what she gave me is the chicken sausage. They didn't give me the correct order, there was no resolution to my problem by offering me WHAT I ORDERED or at least comping it. Truly an awful experience. To have the cashier tell me I'm lying? ABOUT A BREAKFAST SANDWICH? My only reason to posting this is because they are clearly unaware of what they're serving! The cashier argued with me for about 10 minutes about what the sandwich was supposed to look like. I showed her a picture online of what it's supposed to look like and she laughed, "oh that's from online though?". "Actions speaks louder than words." I asked for an everything bagel, toasted, with butter, yesterday morning at 7:30 am. I was told I could put the butter on myself over by the condiments table. Well, the butter was refrigerated and cold. That means it is not going to spread on a bagel. I asked if they could spread the butter on the bagel for me. Everybody else puts the butter on for me. For a chain (semi small and maybe only IL/Midwest) they do a good job! Fast service when you order at the counter and they serve it to your table. I only had a caramel latte over ice and a toffee cookie. The latte was average coffee but I wasn't expecting anything great. The toffee was really good and super sweet. I basically love anything toffee so this cookie was a great treat. There was really nothing to complain about other than they forgot to give us the cookies we ordered. I had the Choose 2 meal cuz I'm extremely indecisive which turned out to be a good value for the amount of food! It's almost like 2 small meals. I loved the broccoli cheddar soup which came with a side (toasted garlic bread) that went so perfect with the meal! My other pick was the pasta which was a really generous portion. My girlfriend and I were craving fresh baked goods while walking through Chicago so when we stumbled upon this place that has the word 'Bakery' in the name, we thought this would be the obvious choice of where to go. The line went quickly and the person checking us out was nice. I have to say, we were both very disappointed with what we got from the bakery case. My girlfriend took one bite of her monster cookie w/ M&Ms, said, "I'm not eating this," and put the rest back in the bag to throw away. I took it out of the bag to take a bite just to see what was so bad about it and I immediately understood why she didn't want to eat it. I didn't want to eat it either. It did not have any flavor and it somehow managed to have a chewy and sandy texture at the same time. We ended up throwing out the rest of it. I ordered a croissant and while it was not as offensive in quality as the cookie, it still was not the quality I expected. It tasted like a croissant purchased from Walmart left on the kitchen counter for a couple of days. I can't tell if the items in the bakery case here are made in house and just left to sit out for a long time or if they're not even made in house at all but if you're going to own an establishment with the name 'bakery' in it, the items in your bakery case should be fresh and tasty. The ones here are not. There are a lot of great places to get food and snacks in Chicago but this unfortunately isn't one of them. Just discovered corner bakery yesterday! It definitely reminds me of Panera Bread because of their Take 2 menu, but their menu options look a bit more enticing. I got the Harvest salad and Chicken Noodle Soup, which came with a bag of their potato chips. I would skip the sugar on top if possible, it's a bit much. Luckily I asked for it on the side. Located on - well, the corner of the block- it's easily accessible from street view. Avoid driving here as parking in the downtown area is a nightmare. You can Uber or catch the train and walk a bit. It's located about 20 m from the "bean" of Chicago so if you'd like to grab a quick bagel/ oatmeal and go- this would be a good casual option. This used to be my go to breakfast spot a year back... Absolutely love the croissant breakfast sandwich- with scrambled eggs, bacon and tomato. Their croissant is a buttery, flaky heavenly mess. Eggs were done just right..not overcooked, not too mushy, bacon was crisp and tomato was well..just tomato. This sandwich was fulfilling all my needs, I didn't really feel like trying anything other off the menu. So don't have a say otherwise. I called the location nearest my org and was told that the location at Michigan and Wacker is the only one with a van to deliver. I tried to place an order by phone at that location. My org is tax exempt. Called four times over 2 days and got "I'm too busy" (twice) "Order online" "someone will call you back" (no one ever did). I finally placed the order online and in the 'order notes' put that we are tax exempt with the tax exempt number. Delivery came via door dash so I'm not sure what the only location with a van comment was for - which I got from 2 different people. Also I ordered fruit medley with each of my 7 sandwiches - all 7 came with an apple. Invoices I received charged me tax. Called the location and the person was rude, talked over me, told me she couldn't do anything about it, I should have called in the order, etc. I told her even my invoice shows I wrote in tax exempt and the number in the order notes. Her reply was that no one reads those notes. She did finally reimburse me with the tax paid. Very unpleasant experience. Food was very bland. Bakery goods dry. Never again. read more

Today I had Chicken Pomodori Panini (sliced chicken breast, fresh basil and spinach, oven-roasted tomatoes, and provolone cheese with pesto mayo) on sourdough.Sandwich was pretty good. Tasty. I also had yummy baked potato soup garnished with green onion and shredded cheddar cheese. My husband had Club Panini (smoked turkey breast,smoked bacon,white cheddar cheese, and tomatoes with just a touch of mayo) on sourdough. I tried it and it was tasty too. They also offer fresh salads, pasta, breakfast sandwiches, scramblers and desserts. Prices are reasonable. Sandwich combo, 1/2 sandwich with cup of soup or salad and chips is $6-$7. Stopped by to pick up lunch today. Had a 1/2 panini and 1/2 caesar salad. The salad had (essentially) no dressing on it...it was just a bunch of romaine, croutons and parmesan cheese. We got it to go (so I didn't see this until I got back to the office) but I would have sent it back if I was there. The panini was pretty good...but not as crispy as I would have liked. And they put the panini and salad in the same container...so the salad was warm and soggy while the panini had the flavor of caesar salad. Been to other Corner Bakeries with better results so this one is definitely going on my "no" list. read more
