I really enjoyed Corner. The inside is dominated by a massive bar. They have a great selection of Texas spirits and beers. Pretty nice for a hotel lobby bar. They have a cool outdoor area that sits right on South Congress and is perfect for people watching. If the weather is nice I would definitely request to sit outside. The cocktails we ordered were solid. They have a good selection of speciality drinks, but they also make good off-menu drinks. The food was solid as well. We ordered some appetizers, salads, fish and a burger. We shared the plates and the food was well prepared and had great flavor. The service was OK. They also messed up the final bill and double charged us (they couldn't fix it and we had to call the credit card company to correct the charge). Other than that we had a good experience. read more

Classy. Simply put, classy. I went here on St. Patty's Day and although they were busy, the bartenders were awesome. I got the dip trio, and a mixed drink from the outdoor bar. The temperature at the bar was great, they have a great way to keep it cool. There was a nice, pleasant breeze. I had finished my drink, still no chips and when I asked the bartender had even said that they should have arrived already. Well, I get brought out a fresh hot try not even 2 minutes later, the bartender even made sure my chips were full throughout. To top it off, the same bartender bought my chips and dips! Server was rude, sarcastic, and overall a very unaccommodating person, it was as if we were inconveniencing him. OH! and the good was just terrible. Came here on a Sunday afternoon and had a great meal. Ordered the triple dip & chips, Carnitas tacos, and then the Crawfish & Crab Benedict. The food was delicious. We licked the queso clean. Salsa was a bit vinegar-y for my taste but good. Reason why it didn't get full 5 stars, our service was so-so. Had to wave waiter down every time we needed something and place didn't seem busy. The atmosphere is really chill. Patio looked really fun to sit and have some drinks and snacks before hitting the town. The kitchen is open so you can see what is going on which I loved. The bar is well stocked with Texas beers and spirits as well as your typical stuff. It was nice to see a restaurant support local farmers, breweries, etc. the staff was very pleasant and courteous. They will provide suggestions for anything you'd like. The cornbread is a must. As soon as you sit down, order it. Drinks are made very well. Try something from their signature menu. The only thing I would say is expect some differences in the menu listed on Yelp to what they actually have. It's not like you won't find something equally as tempting. The menu is diverse but has a southern flare without frying every single thing. The fish tacos were yummy. The sauce they serve with it is a little spicy so if you are more sensitive to that, caution! The grouper was FANTASTIC! Slightly spicy as times, but not too much to handle. I subbed the potatoes with the goat cheese grits and so glad I did. They were creamy and perfect! The pork tacos were yummy as well. Portions were pretty big with those. And when all else fails, go for a burger. Fries were thin, but perfect. No complaints here except we all wished we had room for more! read more

Took my family here for breakfast. The host said there's a wait (which is fine during COVID) but said we could sit in the bar area. The bar was wide open, not one table occupied but they would only let us sit at tables for 2 then said you're not allowed to interact with the rest of your party (my kids). We pointed out the tables that seat 4-6 that were 8 feet away and he had to get manager approval. Then dealt with our server and asked if we could watch College Game Day. He said the remote is broken, impossible to change channels. Has to stay on CNN Trump coverage. We said ok. They then changed the channel to college football as we're leaving. Food was a 5 on a scale of 1-10. Bottom line, it has been a really long time since I've been treated so poorly by staff with such poor attitudes. The bartender was the biggest jerk I have ever met in my life. Talk about rude! We stopped in for dinner after seeing the bats and he was such a jerk because even after seeing on the website that they were open until 2 they would not serve us food. We ordered drinks and chips and guacamole to hold us over and it was like we asked for the biggest inconvenience to the bartender. We asked him where we could go for dinner and he said Everything closes at 10. He could pointed us in the direction of a place to eat but no. I will never come here again. Came here on Saturday for a late lunch and drinks with my buddy. We were able to sit at the bar outside without having to wait which was nice. They have a pretty good selection of beers, being in Austin I went with a nice 512 IPA. My friend and I both thought the menu was well put together. Not so many options that I couldn't decide, but they differently have something for everyone. We ordered the chicken sandwich. My husband enjoyed the burger and the bun was fresh and included jalapeños. I was not disappointed with the Turkey Club. The sourdough was slightly crispy, the bacon and Gouda were tasty and the tomatoes and mayo were a nice touch. The fries were good, but not spectacular. The service was great and we enjoyed the ambience and decor of the restaurant. As a tourist, I would be back again to enjoy a bite. Happy hours runs Monday-Friday, so we missed out. read more

Short story: food was fine, service was horrid. We showed up on a Friday night around 8. We were told that there was a wait for a table but that we could sit at the bar high tops and order from the bar. It took 10 minutes to flag the bartender down to get him to take our order. In that time two separate booths opened up and stayed empty the rest of the time we were there. Once we ordered, they gave us the wrong receipt and the bartender was upset when he had to print me a new one. The fried chicken sandwich was not bad. The pickled onions were the best part of it. The shrimp and grits were not good. Two of the shrimp had shell pieces stuck on them. It was a disappointing first dinner in Austin. read more

OK, everybody should get a do-over. Wowsir, I had a polar opposite experience and want to tell you that there are some lovely booths against the wall and east of the bar that sit two people very very nicely but you'll have to scout them out and ask. I had the same fish dish from the menu, a lovely filet with posole; perfectly cooked and the portion on the posole was bountiful but still made a beautiful plate. It was prepared perfectly, the fish flaked but wasn't dry. We also had their cornbread/poblano appetizer which was awesome. The waiter was a smart and cordial fellow named Brian and he was very helpful explaining options on food and martini selections. Finished with a gorgeous cup of coffee and walked into an exciting young crowd outside at their outdoor bar. It was very exciting and this is a great place to come with out of towners who are up for an exciting start to a big evening downtown. Food was great. Service was great. This must be the only bar/restaurant without Happy Hour. Ended up getting 4 glasses of wine and 2 appetizers, bill came and it was $70!! Not sure I would go back, server was friendly and fun but absent a lot of the time. Had an empty glass at the end of the table for 15 minutes.
