First time here. Clean and good service. Will come back again. Right next to orange theory.

Pecan pancakes (specially made for me)
Diana T.

The food was very good but it always is! I had pancakes with pecans, these pancakes were huge! The service was awesome! We were served by Victoria who was happy, helpful and probably the head server. She is a great asset to this establishment! Not only was she all these things she was also funny! She sat us in the time out corner I thought that was a great comment for a booth tucked away in the corner.

The biggest pancakes ever!

Stopped on a whim, we were greeted and sat promptly in a booth. I thought, "wouldn't it be great if they had chicken pot pie?" And they did, sadly it's served after 3, so I ordered a turkey burger. HUGE! Mushrooms, avocado, soft bun and the best steak fries, crispy on the edges and seasoned perfectly. I did a happy dance right at the table. Jarrod was our server, and absolutely delightful. My cousin ordered the "short stack" with eggs and requested one sausage link and one slice of bacon.. no problem Jarrod said. Food runner delivered our order, took care of our "oh, can we get this" extras and "no problem" was happily replied. Jarrod suggested Key Lime pie, so yes please, we ordered and even though we were full (only ate HALF of our meal with to go boxes) we slogged the pie down and ordered one to go for my 93yr old Dad. Wonderful experience, fantastic yummy food and a great staff. Ample parking as well. I'll be back next time I go to Joshua Tree! Thank you Corky's..

Eggs over medium & well done bacon

I came here last Saturday with my son in law, my two daughters, and my two granddaughters! I have been here a few times since my last review here, but I knew it was time to update. This place is also clean outside and inside! I'm glad to see it so busy here!!! The service here was excellent, even being so busy! Thank you so much to Jared, who gave us the utmost great table service! Also, to all the others who helped bring out the several dishes that we ordered. Everything tasted so awesome! We all tried a little of everyone's plates. Well, at least I did . My main meal that I got was the Barnyard Special. This comes with 2 pancakes, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 eggs, and home fries. We were told by a manager lady that they had an issue with the order system. We did have a couple of errors happen with our entire order. Also, it took a little longer to get our order. So the nice manager lady gave us 50% off without even asking! I ended up getting eggs cooked a different way, bacon not well done, and hashbrowns instead of home fries. They corrected this by still bringing me out all my correct items. I appreciated them doing this and still letting us keep the extra food! My younger daughter ordered two huge blueberry pancakes. I gave her the extra two pieces of bacon. My older daughter had French toast, eggs, and bacon. She also had a bowl of oatmeal. My son in law ordered the polish skillet as well as biscuits and gravy. My older granddaughter had the kids French toast. My youngest granddaughter just ate a little bit from her mom and her sister's plates. She just started eating regular food as she is almost 1 year old! Thank you Corky's for giving us great family experience! Even though everything didn't go smoothly, you corrected everything! Again, all the food tasted great! You also didn't rush us. This was the first family meal we had near my home! Thanks for making it great! It gets really busy here, but well worth the wait! Please stop by and give them a try!

Chicken Clucker Sandwich
Elaine L.

I was there on Monday when it rained consistently for more than 48 hours over the weekend. I was here once before but ordered breakfast. This visit I ordered the Chicken Clucker sandwich. This was the right decision. It was very tasty, the chef was quick and I would order it again. My seating was immediate, the server was in fromt of me within minutes and my food arrived within 10 minutes or less. The entire experience was excellent! Paola was my server - attentive and quick.

I had a sweet tooth, and luckily, I drove past corky's bakery! They sell cookies and whole pies which can also be purchased by the slice. I opted for a slice of the snickers pie. I'm not sure how their other pies are priced, but a single slice of snickers pie set me back $6.00. While the pie is on the pricier side, I would purchase it again. It reminds me of a French silk pie with extra add ins to snicker-fy it. I could taste and see the layers of flavors from chopped walnuts, peanut butter cream filling, caramel, creamy chocolate filling, and a healthy topping of whipped cream all in an Oreo crust. 4/5 I received a free cookie of my choosing for checking in. I was deciding between the chocolate chip and the pumpkin white chocolate 3/5. I went with the latter choice per the server's recommendation. The pumpkin cookie is more of a cakey texture. It's raised like a dome. It's a bit dry for my cookie preference, but I think it'll be a nice treat to have in the morning with coffee or tea.

They have a very stylish outdoor seating area which is where I opted for. I took a peek at the menu ahead of time, so I knew what I wanted to order for my meal. My waiter was attentive and kind. I ordered the Vegan Gluten Free Pasta. The pasta arrived hot and in a timely manner. Napkin in my lap and utensils in hand--I took my first bite. I did not add any seasoning as I truly enjoyed the natural flavoring of the young vegetables. The carrots were mildly sweet, roasted pine nuts were earthy, cherry tomatoes, and sautéed in extra virgin olive oil. It was drizzled with vegan pesto, topped with fresh basil, and as mentioned earlier the pasta was gluten free. Overall, I truly enjoyed the experience and my meal. The city of Claremont is charming and every turn a surprise. I stand by my statement that this city has a way of collecting individuals-- as people who stop by end up staying. I do wish they were a bit more affordable or had a senior menu but the food is prepared nicely and always taste delicious. My one negative gripe is the music it's just way too loud and not appropriate for people my age to want to stay and order more. I have spoke to friends of mine and we all agree the music is not appropriate for this style of restaurant even classical works but top 40 pop is a bit much and detracts from the French theme vibe. Some French Music would make this place a dream. Since it is a French themed restaurant. Or at least appears to be. But the contemporary music deflects away from the French vibe and atmosphere. So I give a thumbs down on the loud music ie. minus a star. However I feel changing the music only would add to the ambience and the vibe of the place, just my opinion. However, sadly due to the Music, I choose sit outside but when your my age with this heat being so awful it would be so nice to sit inside with the air-conditioner with nice refreshing music. I will cross my fingers it gets better as I would eat there every day. On the upside there is one lovely tall dark haired fair girl at the counter who looks very French and has a European vibe about her aura she just makes the place. She is so kind and welcoming. I have gone in very stressed a couple times and her demeanor is so calm and sweet she makes me feel welcome and appreciated and diffuses my stress level every time. Very few people nowadays have that kind of charm. She doesn't make me feel rushed or brushed off like most service people. I just adore her energy she has the best manners and eloquence of any waitress in Claremont. I'm always happy when I see she's working. I wish I could pronounce her name I think it's Bree or Bly or something like that. Also they definitely need name tags too. But the food is very good.

We were fine with it, and were given two menus and told to sit anywhere we wanted. After 15 minutes, no servers had come out to take drink orders or anything, so my boyfriend went inside to ask if someone could come take our order. I looked around the patio area and realized there were two other tables whose patrons were there before us, waiting for drinks and service, just like we were. One of them was fanning herself with the menu, as it was close to 100° outside. (There are no misters on the patio, just a slight breeze now and then. And, if you sit near the patio entrance, you should know that the huge dryer vents from the adjacent hotel are pushing hot air into the patio.) My boyfriend came back and said that he was told "someone will be out soon", and he noticed that all the servers were watching the soccer game inside. We waited another minute or so, and decided to leave and find another place for lunch. We were so glad we left...we ended up at Gus's BBQ across the way, and OMG...save yourself the trouble of the weak menu & non-existent service at The Back Abbey and walk over to Gus's.
