My friend and I stopped here for lunch after a morning of apple picking. When we arrived we were the only ones there and it was cool to have the restaurant to ourselves for a short while. Our server was real sweet and patient as we took forever deciding what to order because everything looked soo good. Within the hour of our arrival, a large private party arrived and people just started coming in back to back. The restaurant was definitely understaffed and unprepared for the amount of people coming in to eat which is the reason they didn't get 4 stars. Our server stated they get really packed at night and on the weekends. We were lucky enough to get there early and leave before the crowds came. The decor is really sleek and modern and they did a great job giving off that Latin vibe. Now to the food, I ordered the pernil sandwich with arroz con gandules which was absolutely delicious. The bread was soft and warm just like I like it and the pernil was very tasty. The arroz con gandules I could've ate by itself as a regular meal that's how yummy it tasted. I would love to check this place out on the weekend and be a part of the experience and simply hang out listening to some great music and eating some tasty Latin food. read more

As a vegetarian new to the Warwick area, I am so appreciative of Coquito's vegetable rice soup. It is so simple and flavorful and straight up delicious. She was very sweet and in great spirits. The place was very clean and every staff member wore masks at all times. Now with that being said, the food was not good. I live in Warwick, have been to Coquito multiple times and have enjoyed the experience every time. Service is always friendly and efficient. My go-to dish has always been the Steak Salad which was recommended by my sister and is always delicious. My daughter ordered the skirt steak and shrimp tonight (which I, of course had to try) and is now my new favorite dish! The flavor of the marinade is to die for and blended perfectly with the steak and shrimp. I went to dinner last Friday night at Coquito because I love their grilled red snapper. The food was delicious, but the service was very bad. The place was empty, but we had to wait to get our server's attention numerous times. It appeared that there was no one designated bartender and each server was also making the drinks for their tables. Coquito did not have any specials, they did not have a soup of the day, they were out of the wine I ordered. I had beer, but my friend had a martini and when her second martini was brought to the table, the server asked her if she wanted a new, chilled glass. She said yes, then the server said, then I have to take this back to the bar and chill a glass. Do you want lime or lime juice? She wanted lime, and the lime she brought her was old and wrinkled. the pricing here is not inexpensive, but in line with the rest of Warwick restaurants. They need to do better to retain customers. Group of 9 family and friends enjoyed a lovely dinner at Coquito. We called ahead to make reservations since we were a large-ish group for a weekday night. The atmosphere is elegant and comfortable. We were warmly greeted and immediately felt welcome and well cared for at this fine establishment. Many in the group ordered Paella and the portion is very generous, served in an individual pot along with a separate vessel to collect shells. I was offered tastes of this dish and it was so delicious that I regretted not ordering it myself. The rice was flavorful and cooked beautifully. I had my own dish of Shrimp a la Coquito so I didn't try any of the various meats in the paella, but I could see that it was plentiful! Everyone gladly took home leftovers. My shrimp dish was divine and served on top of the most flavorsome sauce! I wish I had more bread to sop it up. I ordered sweet plantains as my side dish, and they were heavenly, but I missed having a vegetable. Next time I would order either yellow rice and pigeon peas or the vegetables. My husband and I took our son there last night for his 16th birthday. We've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and we could not have been happier with EVERYTHING. The owners and the staff are friendly and attentive. They use their grandmother's recipes, which showed in the fantastic quality of the food. We ordered drinks...Sangria for my husband and a Chocolate Martini for me. Both drinks were excellent, and they don't skimp on the liquor. For appetizers, we ordered the Beef Empanada (comes with one) and the Pork Pinchos. The empanada was very, very good. The pinchos was superb...tender and tons of flavor. Each of us ordered a different main course. Our dinners came with house salads, which were basic salads with coconut and walnuts. Yum! Our son ordered the Chicharron de Pollo with sides of Maduros and Rice with Pink Beans. He barely spoke to us as he scarfed everything down, and he just kept smiling. My husband got the Sirloin a la Parrilla. He said it was the best NY strip steak he's ever had. I ordered the Paella for One, which was brought to the table in the caldero. The rice was so flavorful from the seasonings and from the chicken, chorizo, shrimp, mussels, and clams. It really was quite indescribable...it was THAT good. My son was extremely pleased that we chose this restaurant for our family celebration, but my husband's reaction was the best. He said that the food reminded him of his grandmother in Puerto Rico cooking all day and having food ready for anyone dropping by, and it reminded him of all the good food that you can get from the stands along the beach in P.R. The food brought so many wonderful memories to him; he looked so content. :) For dessert, the men ordered coconut sorbet in the shell. Both of them liked it very much. I got the Tres Leches Cake, which, like our entire meal, was excellent. My husband ordered a coffee: He usually puts four sugars in his coffee, but he said that the coffee was so good that he only put in two sugars. The restaurant also becomes a club at around 9:30pm. As we were finishing dinner, we saw the staff starting to clear out some of the tables to make room for dancing. We didn't stay for it last night, but we will next time we go. For all of this, our bill came out to around $165....very reasonable for the quantity and the QUALITY. My in-laws live in Ohio, and we already made plans with each other to go there the next time they are back in the area to visit. A nice hidden gem in the town of Warwick. My cousins and I visited Ochs Orchard this weekend for some apple picking fun and stopped here for lunch afterwards. There were only a handful of tables occupied when we arrived and what appeared to be only one woman running the shop but she was friendly and attentive during our entire meal. For appetizers, we ordered the empanadas and the pasteles; both of which were delicious. The empanadas were made in a white flour shell and the pasteles were served in a banana leaf with delicious bits of meat and beans! Our mains were even more delish as we devoured the shrimp mofongo and cuban sandwich. The mofongo was flavorful and very filling and the yuca fries served with the sandwich was one of the best I've had in a long while! Crunchy but tender and boy oily at all! I visited this restaurant for lunch while visiting the apple orchards in the area. They have a private parking lot which had plenty of available spaces. There was only one staff person present to attend to the customers which caused being greeted and assisted to take sometime. However, the waitress was very friendly and helpful. I did feel bad for the waitress who tried her best to attend to everyone while the restaurant slowly filled with large parties. The restaurant itself was decorated in a modern but beautiful style. I tried their signature drink coquito to start and it was delicious. I must say that it was one of the best tasting versions of coquito that I have tried in a while. For my meal I ordered a pernil sandwhich with arroz con gandules. I wasn't very impressed with the pernil (This maybe due to the fact that I have tasted slow roasted homemade pernil) but it was good. I was much more fascinated with my side dish which was absolutely the best part of my meal. I had a 12oz strip grilled med rare and it was basic, Texas Roadhouse cooks better steaks for a cheaper price. My bro had the red snapper and that was the only entree that was actually good. It was fresh and tender. The yuca fries were excellent as well, probably one of my favs. For desserts: We had tres leche cake, it was moist, milky and flavorful. Guava and goat cheese was bomb. I have lived in Warwick for over 20 years and and am a real food aficionado and gourmet cook. My husband and I have eaten in all the restaurants in Warwick over the years and this is the only one we keep going back to. The staff is very professional and super friendly and the service is excellent. We never have to wait too long for our food to come out no matter how busy they are. The house salad is fresh and tasty with coconut shavings on top and a citrus dressing that is also refreshing. The meals come with either a side of a choice of 2 different rice dishes or a side of plantains or maduras (sweet plantains). If you are in the mood for steak, chicken, or pork, all are delicious. The skirt steak is marinated in a garlic and herb sauce and is so tender it melts in your mouth.The coquito chicken is also a great meal of grilled and marinated chicken chunks and the pernil is also worth a try. It is slow roasted and marinated in a garlic citrus marinade and there is really enough for 2 people if not 3 so there is always enough to take home with. We haven't experienced the seafood but I am sure it is great also. If you want a sweet ending, definitely get the tres leches cake. It is to die for! And they make it there It is the only restaurant in town that you feel like your grandma is in the back cooking for you. So often nowadays, the food in restaurants feel like they are premade and frozen from some mass distributor. The folks at Coquitos care about what they are serving and it tells. We love it here.
